How to calculate unique security scopes

I've read the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx and I have problems calculating the number of unique security scopes. For example:
One list:
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a ---> 1 security scope
Two items broken permission can be seen by user b ---> 1 security scope
Two items broken permission can be seen by users a,b ---> 1 security scope
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a and modify by user b---> 1 security scope
Sum of items: 8, overall security scopes in the list: 4
Am I correct?
Thank you
Christos

XristosK,
As per my knowledge
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a ---> 2 security scope (if you are not using a group)
Two items broken permission can be seen by user b ---> 2 security scope (if you are not using a group)
Two items broken permission can be seen by users a,b ---> 2 security scope (if you are not using a group)
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a and modify by user b---> 2 security scope (if you are not using
a group)
Sum of items: 8+, overall security scopes in the list:
8 + List's own security inheritance<what ever>
Read this great article: Scaling to
10,000 unique permissions – Part 1 – The Problem
So what is a Security Scope then?
To put it simply … each time you grant access to a new principal (user account or group) then you are creating a new Security Scope.

    Hi,
I have data in the following format:
PO no  Subfield Created date Changed date
    123              A               01/01/2011        20/01/2011
    123              B               01/01/2011        20/01/2011

    124              B              01/01/2011        25/01/2011
I want to get  unique number of PO's which has difference(changed date - created date)  greater thn 20days and less thn 20days.
So I want to get in report:
    PO no >20    <20
    123             ____        1
    124            1       _____
I know to get unique PO number and how to calculate two dates difference in days by using formula variable replacement path.
But how to incorporate these two functions.

  • How to calculate the row size

    Hi,
I am having a table of 4 column. First column is varchar2(10), Second column is Number(5), Third column is char(10) and Fourth column is Number(12,2).
Now how to calculate the size of each row. I want to know how much space it will take for each row.
    Thanx & Regards,
    Swarup

For a complete discussion of storage requirements for different datatypes see the Oracle 8i Concepts manual.
All Oracle documentation is available on-line via the 'Documentation' link on the OTN home page.
Your Col2 NUMBER(5) will take 4 bytes if it holds a 5 digit positive or negative number.
Your Col4 NUMBER(12,2) will take 7 bytes if it holds a number with 12 digits that is positive and will take 8 bytes if it holds a number with 12 digits that is negative.
The following is from the Concepts manual Chapter 12 (Copyright by Oracle)
    Built-In Datatypes 12-9
    Internal Numeric Format
Oracle stores numeric data in variable-length format. Each value is stored in
scientific notation, with one byte used to store the exponent and up to 20 bytes to
store the mantissa. The resulting value is limited to 38 digits of precision. Oracle
does not store leading and trailing zeros. For example, the number 412 is stored in a
format similar to 4.12 x 10 2 , with one byte used to store the exponent (2) and two
bytes used to store the three significant digits of the mantissa (4, 1, 2). Negative
numbers include the sign in their length.
Taking this into account, the column size in bytes for a particular numeric data
value NUMBER ( p), where p is the precision of a given value, can be calculated
    using the following formula:
    ROUND((length( p)+ s)/2))+1
where s equals zero if the number is positive and s equals 1 if the number is
    negative.
Zero and positive and negative infinity (only generated on import from Version 5
Oracle databases) are stored using unique representations. Zero and negative
infinity each require one byte; positive infinity requires two bytes.

  • How to generate unique filenames??

i need to be able to generate unique files from a servlet..
my initial instinct was to use the seesion id as part of the filename, however as this file will be embedded in the responding html, this is not safe, as the user will only have to look at the html source to view a session id value.
i am now considering to use the date/time of the creation of a session as the unique identifier for the file, however this will not work if two sessions can be created at the same time.
my question thefore is if no two sessions can have the same date and time?
if not.. can anyone give me an idea as how to produce unique filenames?

If you are actually creating a file, why not usethe
java.io.File.createTempFile() method?how does that help with prducing a unique value to use
as the name of a file?
with that method i still need to supply the filename
    as one of its arguments!
No you don't. You provide a prefix and suffix and it fills in the middle with something guaranteed to be unique, in the directory you specify. Here is the javadoc:
    createTempFile
    public static File createTempFile(String prefix,
    String suffix,
    File directory)
    throws IOException
Creates a new empty file in the specified directory, using the given prefix and suffix strings to generate its name. If this method returns successfully then it is guaranteed that:
    1. The file denoted by the returned abstract pathname did not exist before this method was invoked, and
    2. Neither this method nor any of its variants will return the same abstract pathname again in the current invocation of the virtual machine.
This method provides only part of a temporary-file facility. To arrange for a file created by this method to be deleted automatically, use the deleteOnExit() method.
The prefix argument must be at least three characters long. It is recommended that the prefix be a short, meaningful string such as "hjb" or "mail". The suffix argument may be null, in which case the suffix ".tmp" will be used.
To create the new file, the prefix and the suffix may first be adjusted to fit the limitations of the underlying platform. If the prefix is too long then it will be truncated, but its first three characters will always be preserved. If the suffix is too long then it too will be truncated, but if it begins with a period character ('.') then the period and the first three characters following it will always be preserved. Once these adjustments have been made the name of the new file will be generated by concatenating the prefix, five or more internally-generated characters, and the suffix.
If the directory argument is null then the system-dependent default temporary-file directory will be used. The default temporary-file directory is specified by the system property java.io.tmpdir. On UNIX systems the default value of this property is typically "/tmp" or "/var/tmp"; on Microsoft Windows systems it is typically "c:\\temp". A different value may be given to this system property when the Java virtual machine is invoked, but programmatic changes to this property are not guaranteed to have any effect upon the the temporary directory used by this method.
    Parameters:
prefix - The prefix string to be used in generating the file's name; must be at least three characters long
suffix - The suffix string to be used in generating the file's name; may be null, in which case the suffix ".tmp" will be used
directory - The directory in which the file is to be created, or null if the default temporary-file directory is to be used
    Returns:
An abstract pathname denoting a newly-created empty file
    Throws:
IllegalArgumentException - If the prefix argument contains fewer than three characters
IOException - If a file could not be created
SecurityException - If a security manager exists and its SecurityManager.checkWrite(java.lang.String) method does not allow a file to be created

  • How to calculate the HFM Cube size in SQL Server-2005

    Hi
How to calculate the HFM Cube size in SQL Server-2005 ?
Below query used for Oracle. Then what is query for SQL Server?
    SQL> select sum(bytes/1024/1024) from dba_segments where segment_name like 'FINANCIAL_%' and owner='HFM';
    SUM(BYTES/1024/1024)
    SQL> select sum(bytes/1024/1024) from dba_segments where segment_name like 'HSV FINANCIAL%' and owner='HFM';
    SUM(BYTES/1024/1024)
    Regards
    Smilee

What is your objective? The subcube in HFM is a concept which applies to the application tier - not so much to the database tier. The size of the subcube is the unique number of data strips (data values for January - December inclusive, for example) for the given entity, currency triplet or Parent.Child node. You have to account for parent accounts and customs which don't exist in the database but are generated in RAM in the application tier.
So, if your objective is to find the largest subcubes, you could do this by querying the database and counting the number of records per entity/value (DCE tables) or parent.child entity combination (DCN tables). I'm not versed in SQL, but I think the script below would just tell you the schema size and not the subcube sizes.
Check out Accelatis.com for a third party software product that can do this for you. The feature is called the Subcube Analyzer and was written by the same team that wrote HFM, so they ought to know how this works :-)

  • Understanding SharePoint Security Scope

What is a Security scope in Sharepoint?
    a) Number of times we break inheritance
    or
    b) each time you grant access to a new principal (user account or group) then you are creating a new Security Scope?

    Sonal
Security Scope is just a term used to describe a situation - it has no physical significance, meaning, it is not a specific setting that you configure.
For example, if I create new security groups for a site, and grant them some permission level (eg, Contribute, Read, etc), then I have effectively configured the "Security Scope" for that site.  If I create a subsite off of this
one, break its permissions inheritance, and configure new groups for it, I have effectively configured its "Security Scope".  If I now create a list in this subsite, add some items, break the list's permissions inheritance from the subsite,
and configure some users or groups for accessing this list, I have effectively configured the list's "Security Scope." Thus, "Security Scope" is a term that describes boundaries, so to speak.
The key thing here is how the "Scope" of a security configuration, such as granting a user or group some permission, narrows as you go from doing this for a site down to doing this for a list or even a list item.  A user or group that is granted
permission to read only a single item in a list can only see that one item in the list and cannot see anything else.  Nor does that permission enable the user or group to read list items in other lists.  Thus, the "Scope"
of that security settings is very narrow.

  • Blanc list of uniquely secured items

I have an issue in a 2010 Document Center
When I go to site permissions, I am warned that "Some content on this site has unique permissions which are not controlled from this page.
I then click "Show me uniquely secured content".
I am now presented an overview of "Lists that may contain items with unique permissions".
I then click "view exeptions" to see the items.
But in the list that shows up, there are no items, only a note "There are no items in this list that are uniquely secured."
How can I get to see the items that still triggers the warning about unique permissions?

    Hi,
When clicking Show me uniquely secured content under site permissions page, we will see exceptions which show all lists having unique permissions. When clicking
Manage Permissions, we will be redirected to list\lib permissions page where we can check the unique permissions on it.
Can you please show where do you click "view exeptions" and see note "There are no items in this list that are uniquely secured"?  A screenshot will be perfect.

  • How to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to WebLogic 10.3 server?

    Hi,
I have just enabled security in our ADF 11g application, as descripbed in [chapter 29|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#insertedID0] of the Fusion Developer's Guide. It works fine in the embedded WebLogic server of JDeveloper.
Now I'm trying to deploy to our WebLogic 10.3 server, which runs in production mode. I'm running into all sorts of problems. The WebLogic console seems to have hundreds of security related pages, I don't know which one I should use, let alone how to use it. The Fusion Developer's Guide doesn't cover deployment to a production server:
    >
When the target server is configured for production mode, you typically handle the migration task outside of JDeveloper using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager. For details about using tools outside of JDeveloper to migrate the policy store to the domain-level in a production environment, see the [Oracle Fusion Middleware Security Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/toc.htm].
    >
However, this guide is of very little help to me. I found [chapter 7|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/addlsecfea.htm#insertedID0], which says "The recommended tool is Fusion Middleware Control." I have no idea what "Fusion Middleware Control" is, where to get it and how to use it.
Long story short: I'm totally lost. I'm looking for a step by step guide on how to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to a WegLogic 10.3 server that is running in production mode. Any help is highly appreciated.

Ok, I found a [very helpful blog post |http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/01/practical-adf-security-deployment-on.html] by [Andrejus Baranovski|http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468230464412457426]. I wish Oracle's documentation was as clear as this...
The blog post refers to an article by Steve Muench, called [Simplified ADF 11g Application Credential and Policy Migration to Standalone WebLogic Servers|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html]. This article presents an Ant script that migrates policies from JDeveloper to WebLogic, using some PFM. (See the last definition here.)
The problem is that Steve Muench's script assumes that JDeveloper and the standalone WebLogic are on the same machine. However, in a typical environment, such as the one I'm working in currently, this is not the case. In our case the developer stations are Windows machines, while our WebLogic server runs on a HP-UX machine. So the question is: how to perform this migration between two machines with different operating systems?

    Hi Saloni,
to get the debit and credit you would be using a variable 0I_FPER(Fiscal year / period), which is a user entry interval variable.
now to get the opening balance you will have to create a customer exit valiable and the low value of 0I_FPER will have to popuplated by writied the code for the customer exit valiable. you will have to restrict the key figure DEB_CRE_LC for this customer exit variable with the operand as less than(< Fiscal Year /Period from 0I_FPER)).
If the above was useful please assign reward points.

    Hi Experts,
How to calculate Opening balance for a customer? I am trying to develop a report where in i have to get opening AR balance, current sales, adjustments etc of a customer. Please let me know how can i do this. I have some tables with me KNC1, BSAD, BSID.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Say for example ..
Get the opening bal for Customer 'K' in CCode 'C1' in 2008 ..
First get all items from BSEG ..
Select * from BSEG where KUNNR eq 'K'
                                     and BUKRS eq 'C1'
                                     and GJAHR eq '2008' .
Sum all the DMBTR values (This is the total value).
    Second get the cleared items form BSAD for the above entries;
Select * from BSAD for all entries in BSEG where KUNNR and BUKRS and XBLNR eq BSEG-XBLNR.
Sum all DMBTR values ( this is cleared value).
Third substract the cleared value from total to get Open value.
This is a overview .. you should go to the tables and look for fields and etc.. and then define the logic meeeting your requirements .... this is a genric undersatnding ....
