How to call a BAPI from Visual Composer

hi,
   I am new to Visual composer. can some body give me step by step information of calling a bapi or RFC from VC.
Thanks in advance,
Gopi

Hi Gopi,
Steps involed for calling RFC/BAPI from VC
1. Choose Model->Select Data Services.
(Alternatively, click the Data button in the task panel toolbar.)
2. In the Portal field at the right end of the main toolbar, enter the URL of the portal from
which you can access the back-end system used by the iView.
For example, you could enter: http://<yourportal>:50000/..
3. Click the traffic light icon to the right of the Portal field. The portal Welcome screen
appears.
4. Log on to the portal as a user that exists in the connected back-end system, or which is
mapped to a user of that system. Click OK.
Once a connection to the portal is established, a list of system aliases defined in the
portal system landscape appears in the System drop-down
list.
From the System drop-down list, choose the SAP system that contains the function module.
6. Under Search SAP System, click the Search tab and in the Name field, enter the search string: <RFC/BAPI name>. Then click Search (at the bottom).
5. A list of function modules matching the search string is displayed.
7. Drag the function module/bapi from the Data task panel into the
workspace: The data service is added to your model.
8. Periodically save your work. To do so, choose File->Save Model.
Finally test the iview in VC.
In the workspace, drag your mouse from the Input port of the data service, <inputform> and dragn your mouse from the outut port from the data service <tabelview and etc..>
or
Go through the this documentation...

  • How export data in Excel From Visual Composer

    Hay everybody,
    I would like to export my data result from Visual Composer to Excel. I've tried with an export data buton, but the exported file has a very bad format in Excel. I've tried an hyperlink buton which contain the Reptname data of the query too, but I can't keep my filters. This second solution can be nice for the format. If anyone knows how I can keep my filters, I would be fine.

  • How to call labview DLL from visual C++?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to call a LV DLL from a VC++ application
    by using the LoadLibrary and GetProcAddress functions.
    The DLL contains a simple sum function. The Library is
    loaded correctly, but the result is always 0.0000.
    I have loaded a VC++ DLL in a similar way and it works
    correctly. Also, I have tested the DLL by loading it in LV,
    and it works correctly. The calling convention is defined
    to be stdcall in LV Application Builder.
    I have also tried this solution, but I will get a compiler error
    from one the header files that are created by the LV when
    the DLL is made. The error comes from this line
    typedef char                int8;
    and the error states that
    ..\fundtypes.h(107) : error C2371: 'int8' : redefinition; different basic types
    If someone knows of newer tutorial(for LV 8.2) or knows how to use those
    LoadLibrary and GetProcAddress function for LV DLLs, I will appreciate the
    information greatly.
    Below is the code that I'm using for loading the LV DLL.
    Thanks
    #include "stdafx.h"
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>
    #include <map>
    #include <windows.h>
    int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[])
        HINSTANCE LVLib = LoadLibrary(TEXT("Testdll"));
        typedef double (__stdcall *MYPROC)(double, double);
        if (LVLib != NULL)
            MYPROC ProcAdd = (MYPROC) GetProcAddress(LVLib, "Add");
            if (ProcAdd != NULL)
                double d = (ProcAdd)(5.5, 6.6);
                printf("sum = %f\n", d);
            else
                printf("Invalid function pointer\n");
        else
            printf("Failed to load the library\n");
        return 0;

    I was just about to post the header file of the DLL, when
    I noticed that there's a function called LVDLLStatus.
    This little thingie turned out to be a rather handy tool.
    With that function I found that in the DLL I had a problem
    with another function that prevented the DLL to be correctly
    loaded.
    This other function in the DLL is for generating digital output
    and it worked as it should, when tested from LV.
    Anyway if someone is interested, I got it working by using
    the LoadLibrary and GetProcAddress function, as in the
    source code thatI posted earlier.
    I will investigate what is wrong with that digital output, and
    post into a another thread if I have problems with that.

  • Guide on how to use a self programmed BAPI in Visual Composer

    Hi all,
    I am absolutely new to modelling with the Visual Composer, so probably this is a fairly easy question for most of you, but it's driving ME nuts.
    I have a BAPI in my ERP6 system. This BAPI was programmed by some other guy (not working here anymore) and it is used to output some time management data for a user. It expects a personnel number as input and is then supposed to return the amount of time an employee worked that day.
    Now what I need/want to do is this:
    a user logs on to the portal with his user-id and I want to create an iView on the first page that displays his/her remaining time of work for that day.
    All I have is the user-id, from which I need to query the personnel number from infotype105 and then use this number as input for the BAPI - And I want to do this with the Visual Composer!
    Can someone point me to some good documentation how to get started with using a BAPI in Visual Composer?
    I have a sesond problem right now, that has something to do with necessary rights for system connection or system alias - not sure:
    Right now, I can't see any BAPI in my backend-system, because I seem to be mssing the necessary rights to use the system connection I created - although group everyone has read access to the connection an I setup SSO between portal and ERP system.
    So maybe solme of you gurus might be able to point me to some good documentation on these topics, as I'm kinda stuck here
    Greetings,
       Christian

    Hi,
    Yes its very much necessary to do the user mapping untill unless if you did not do the single sign on Trust .
    It is necessary to get the data from the Back end i.e your Ssytem.
    Steps :
    Go to Useradministartion->find your VC user (using which user you are logging to the VC)->CLICK ON MODIFY->Select usermapping Tab->select the System alias ->give the credentials of the System (i.e Back end) then Save.
    After that Check the Connection Test for the Syetm you connected .
    Steps:
    System Administartion->Syste configuration->Visual Composer-> fRight Click on your Backend Sytem->select Connection test->do the connecton test .
    if the results are failed means the usermapping is wrong.

  • How can we call a BAPI from a scheduler?

    My project involves reading some data from R/3 and send a mail at regular intervals. I intend to use a schedular for that but dont know how to call a BAPI there. Is there a better way to go about it?

    Scheduler Task->Portal Service->RFC or BAPI
    You still have one issue which is IPortalComponentRequest. Portal service doesn't have access to it but you can get around it by setting up a SAP system for usermapping and then mapping that userid to a generic userid. Example code:
    private IConnection getConnection(
                   String alias)
                   throws Exception {
    IUser user =
    UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("Administrator");
    IConnectorGatewayService cgService = (IConnectorGatewayService) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IConnectorService.KEY);
    ConnectionProperties prop = new ConnectionProperties(user.getLocale(), user);
    return cgService.getConnection(alias, prop);
    thanks.

  • How to read a text file from Visual Composer

    Hi VC Experts,
    Please suggest me how can we read a textfile from  the local machine and pull the data from Visual Composer.
    Regards
    Kiran

    Hy kiran, is not possible to read data from flat file and put it in visual composer but you can :
    1) load this file in BI by ETL, for example on DSO object and then you can create a bex query to retrive the data
    2) if you want display the content of this file , you can use KM.

  • How to call a Bapi or RFC from a custom logon module

    Can you provide an example of how to call a bapi or rfc from a custom logon module? (used to authenticate in portal)

    Hello all,
    Is it possible to use SAP JRA instead?
    We have a Connector deployed on the WebAS 6.40. From an EJB (Webservice) it is possible to lookup the connector, but if i try to lookup the connector from a custom LoginModule, i get the following error:
    Path to object does not exist at java:comp, the whole lookup name is java:comp/env/eis/SAPJRA_CRMDC.#
    The whole lookup in LoginModule looks
    try
                   initialcontext    = new InitialContext();
                   connectionFactory = (ConnectionFactory) initialcontext.lookup("java:comp/env/eis/SAPJRA_CRM");

  • How to change front color in Visual composer

    Dear friend,
    i am taking numerical expression box into visual composer table view
    and try to change the front color in style tab for that field property
    but front color is  not changing in output(back ground color is changing ).
    how to change front color in visual composer?
    and can we change the symbol color too?
    thanks and regards,
    dushyant.

    Hi Vani!
    1. Unfortunately one of my requirements is that I can only get data from queries and not from Web Services or other sources, so no WS calling would be allowed in my deployed I-View, but thanks anyway for your suggestion.
    2. You are right, I was not clear enough in my first post. Let's say I have 3 rows and 12 columns, what I want is the following:
    ROW3 = ROW1 / ROW2
    obviously for each column. Do you have an idea about how it could be done??
    Thanks a lot,

  • How to work with BI using Visual Composer....?

    Hi
    I want to work with BI report and BEx analyzer etc using  Visual Composer.
    I am using Visual Composer 7.1. I  have configured BI system connection using the following link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/7e/6dbcea3700452195e3bddaa47c5906/frameset.htm.
    In the above document i didnt understand the following para....
    Creating BI Users in the Portal
    Ensure that the BI back-end users also exist in the J2EE Engine. You can use the BI back end as the user store for the J2EE Engine or you can create the users manually. If you create the users manually, you should ensure that they have the same names as in the BI back-end; this avoids the need to configure user assignment.
    How to check BI back end user also exist in J2EE engine ?
    How to use BI kit in Visual composer. From where can i download BI kit for Visual Composer.
    What is the difference between developing application in VC using the above method and using BI kit.
    Please help me....
    Regards
    Sowmya....

    Hi,
    Without the BI kit you cannot do a lot of things in VC 7.1.
    This kit is not available with 7.1.
    The part that you did not understand meant that if you opening VC using a certain id in portal for eg "user" then the same id should be present in your backend system in this case BW system.
    Without this it wont be able to connect to the system.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Nikhil.

  • Passing a range of dates from Visual Composer 7.0 to Bex Analyzer

    Dear Experts,
             I created a button in my Visual Composer model that has the following settings:
    System action:  Hyperlink
    Apply to:  Self
    Hyperlink address:  "...QUERY=BMMSEG_C01_SAS_Q0001&BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE&BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1&BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC=MBUDAT&BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING=08/22/2006;08/28/2006"
            Basically, what I need is to pass a range of dates from Visual Composer to Bex Analyzer on the characteristic "MBUDAT".  However, it only brings back the data with those specific dates, not the range.
          I don't think this is the correct syntax to pass in a range value:  08/22/2006;08/28/2006  Please advise how should I do it.
    Thank you in advance,
    Kevin

    Hi J GOEL,
           Thank you for your quick response.  I created a date range variable ZPSTDAT, and then I passed in the oncatenated value to my Bex query (for this example, let says the From date is 08/22/2006, and the To date is 08/28/2006 ).
          Here's what I passed in into the url:
    ...QUERY= BMMSEG_C01_SAS_Q0001
    &#38;BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE
    &#38;BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1
    &#38;BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC= ZPSTDAT
    &#38;BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING= 08/22/2006:08/28/2006
       However, it returns all the records, so it seems like it doesn't even accept the range value that I passed into the Bex.  Do you mind to please show me the url you have that pass in the date range.  I just need to see the date range part, not the entire url.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    I also had this problem.  My application is unicode-aware, but I was attempting to link it to a library with primitive C-string arguments.  You could dynamically load the DLL as suggested (more work), modify the header files (really not recommended), or if you are feeling lucky you could try fooling the compiler, as I was successfully able to do in Visual Studio 2010, by steering the preprocessor around those functions (assuming you're not using them, of course -- otherwise this probably wouldn't work):
    // prepare for NI extcode.h inclusion. avoid linker errors for this project.
    #define StrCatW(a,b)     IgnoreLinkError_StrCatW(a,b);
    #define StrCpyW(a,b)     IgnoreLinkError_StrCpyW(a,b);
    #define StrCpyNW(a,b,c)  IgnoreLinkError_StrCpyNW(a,b,c);
    #define StrCmpW(a,b)     IgnoreLinkError_StrCmpW(a,b);
    #define StrCmpNW(a,b,c)  IgnoreLinkError_StrCmpNW(a,b,c);
    // header file for my LabView-built DLL (ASCII single-byte character arguments)
    #include <MyLibraryHeader.h>
    // clean up afterwards, put things back to 'normal'
    #undef StrCatW
    #undef StrCpyW
    #undef StrCpyNW
    #undef StrCmpW
    #undef StrCmpNW
