I have a macbook pro which i presume runs in a 64 bit mode. living in a country without broadband i need to use a 32 bit modem, can i change the system to run this modem at 32 bit as it wont load at 64?
Reboot holding 3 and 2, see if your modem works.
Rebooting again sets it back to 64 bit.
If 32 bit works then your fine, for now, but eventually your going to have to go 64 bit. -
How can I re-use a running JVM ?
HI All:
I am interested in finding about how to re-utilize the capabilities of a running VM. The problem I am into involves writing a java-based command-line interface. Each command is of the following format :
runapp <sub-command>
The "runapp" command should check if there is a running JVM. If not it should start a new one. If there is one already then it should re-use its capability for executing the "sub-command". Each of the sub-commands are in the same namespace.
How can the VM be tuned such that it does not shut down after the first invocation ?
All suggestions are welcomed.

Each command is of the following format :You are writing a shell in java. Then by definition there will always be a running JVM because that is what the shell runs in.
>

The "runapp" command should check if there is a
running JVM. If not it should start a new one. If
there is one already then it should re-use its
capability for executing the "sub-command". Each of
the sub-commands are in the same namespace. Doubt it. You could certainly write a server. And it accepts commands and runs them. However, it is going to need to know what the commands are and how to load them/run them. And they can't interact with any other commands. If you constrain it to that then you can do it (you would have to use a socket to check if it is already running.)
But if you can't constrain it then it won't work.
>

down after the first invocation ?
It can't. If the JVM is out of work (all non-daemon threads exit) then it stops. And if something calls System.exit() then it will end regardless.
You can of course create a thread that does nothing but spin and that would prevent that problem. -

SUM - How to check which phase is running in logs
Hello!
I'm asking if it's possible to check which phase is running in SUM without GUI? I have access only to logs. It is a ERP 6.0 to ERP 6.0 EHP5 in linux and db2.

How to check which form is running on web
Hello.
Is it possible to check which form is running on web, on AS?
When you go on AS to forms/user session node, you can only see config name of forms (or form name if you haven't set config)
We have set our configuration for running forms in formsweb.cfg under configuration section.
Now under user session we can only see config name and not which forms is running currently under this config (user can access many forms in this configuration).
Is there some other way to check which form is currently running (and by which user) under the config?
Any idea?
ThanksAny idea?

How can i check TestStand debug mode ?
JMC
JMCeI've found my answer : i've a boolean "IsEditor", updated with an ActiveX action :
Object reference : RunState.Engine
Automation Server: TestStand API
Object class : Engine
Get Property : ApplicationIsEditor.
There are a lot of methods and properties accessible with ActiveX, but not so easy to find !

How to Check if you are running Lync Server Evaluation or Licensed Version
I was not sure if our Lync environment was running Evaluation Version of the Lync Front End server or the Volume Licensed Version. I was looking to migrate from PoC to production so I had to make sure that the services didn’t stop in the middle of production.
A simple cmdlet to verify this: Get-CsServerVersion
1. When run it will attempt to
2. Read the registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Real-Time Communications\{A593FD00-64F1-4288-A6F4-E699ED9DCA35}\Type
3. Based on that registry value, the cmdlet will then report back the version number of the software and the Lync Server licensing information the local computer and report back one of the following:
o That the Lync Server volume license key has been installed on the computer, meaning that no updating is necessary.
o That the Lync Server evaluation license key has been installed, meaning that the computer must be updated.
o That no volume license key is required on the computer. Updating from the evaluation version to the licensed version is only required on Front End Servers, Directors, and Edge Servers.
What if Evaluation Version is installed and you have to upgrade to Licensed Version?
1. Log on to the computer as a local administrator
2. Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Lync Server 2013, and then click Lync Server Management Shell.
3. In the Lync Server Management Shell, type the following command and then press ENTER:
o msiexec.exe /fvomus server.msi EVALTOFULL=1 /qb
o Note that you might need to specify the full path to the file server.msi. This file can be found in the Setup folder of the Lync Server Volume media installation files.
4. After Setup finishes running, type the following from the command prompt and then press ENTER:
o Enable-CsComputer
o Repeat this procedure on any other Front End Server, Director, or Edge Server running an evaluation copy of Lync Server
o This procedure should also be performed on any Branch Office Servers that were deployed by using the Lync Server media installation files
Using Get-CsServerVersion will also show you
1. What Version Number you are running
2. What patches has been installedHi,
I couldn't find direct way of saying whether node manager is running or not but here is the work around. Using WLST when you say "startNodeManager", if the node manager is running this command throw an output saying "node manager is already running". Let me know if this solution works for you, if it works then I can give you java program for this if required or you can use "WLST JAVA Mode".
Thanks.

thanksHi bala
T code for checking your ABAP and Java ports is SMICM.
Then select GOTO --> Parameters --> Find the parameter given below for ABAP port.
icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8000,TIMEOUT=30,PROCTIMEOUT=600
Java Port:
icm/j2ee_0 gives you Java port.
Refer the point no 8 of the web log it states about start the J2EE server.

How to check the database is running in which normalization
All,
I wanted to know in which normal form(1NF,2NF,BCNF) my database is working. How to find that...Suggestions Please .Tippu, I will agree with pretty much everything that the other posters have already posted.
Related to the concept of normalization, in the database would be the definitions of primary key (PK), unique key (UK), and foreign key (FK) constainsts within the database. Looking at the constaints definded in the database by querying the rdbms dictionary view DBA_CONSTRAINTS might be of interest for trying to identify and understand the relationship between tables in your applications. However, there is no database requirement that these relationships be defined within the database.
That is instead of declaring a PK on tableA there might just be a unique index and no FK to the header table, tableA, from its child detail table, tableB, declared in the database in this case. It would be totally up to the application to enforce this relationship. Still the view will provide information if most of the table relationships are formally defined in the database or not.

How do I run Mavericks in 32 bit mode?
I would like to run Mavericks in 32 bit mode. I have tried restaring and holding 3 and 2, maybe I am doing it wrong?? is there a way to check to make sure I have have done it correctley?
ThanksI am not aware of Citrix doing a VPN server product although I have not gone out of my way to look for this and it maybe embedded into their solution for remotely running VMs or Virtual Desktops.
However some general comments -
Safari on a Mac is a 64-bit capable app
Mavericks is a 64-bit only operating system but can run 32-bit applications as well as 64-bit applications
Google Chrome is still only 32-bit and will only run as a 32-bit app even in Mavericks
Java 1.7 on a Mac is 64-bit only and hence will not work in Google Chrome
Apple do not support Java 1.6 which was 32-bit and 64-bit capable in web-browsers any more
In general a 32-bit app can only use a 32-bit component, e.g. System Preferences needs to run in 32-bit mode to run a 32-bit preference-pane, and likewise a webrowser needs to run in 64-bit mode to run 64-bit only Java 1.7
Many if not all SSL based VPN clients use Java (ugh!)
Juniper (double ugh!) still only have a 32-bit version of their host-checker which will not work directly with Java 1.7, to get round this you have to run the web-browser based Java-applet version of the host-checker in Safari (remember Google Chrome does not support Java 1.7) the web-browser based version of the host-checker then uses the 64-bit Safari to execute and hence can use Java 1.7
Running Java applets in a web-browser is the most insecure and risky approach going and the approach by far the most likely to result in a Mac (or PC) being infected by malware these days
Because of the considerable security risks of running Java applets via a web-browser Apple periodically disable this function when new exploits are discovered in Java until Oracle comes out with a security fix, this can result in all your Mac users being unable to access your VPN system for several days
It is not compulsory to use Juniper's host-checker but this is up to your corporate IT team, if they have made it compulsory at their end you have to run it, for those unaware it checks things like the fact you are running an approved and up-to-date anti-virus product, Cisco have a similar tool called Network Access Control agent
To summarise if you are using a system which uses Java then it almost certainly needs to be a 64-bit compatible. -
I am trying to download software for the clear internet network. It is telling me that I am running in a 64 bit mode and
need to be in a 32 bit mode to run their software....can I and how do I change it to a 32 bit mode?Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,
