How to "cleanse" source data in OWB

hi!
I need cleanse source data like this:
destination := NVL(source, 'not defined')
in SQL
select NVL(src_table.field, 'not defined')
from src_table
how I can it do in OWB?

No,
you only can use the not null data rule to avoid records with some null values in the target. But if you want to replace this values with a predefined value you must do it with an operator.

• How to merge source data with RFC response and post back again as Idoc

Hi All,
This is the requirement we have for an interface
The legacy application is sending Vendor master to PI 7.0
If it is new vendor then it is send as an Cremas Idoc into SAP. Legacy (New Vendor) -
> PI 7.0 -
>Cremas Idoc SAP
If it is changed Vendor legacy will only send changed fields for that Vendor.In PI we would like to call an RFC which will return all the data for that changed Vendor Number and then merge the RFC response with changed data from legacy and then send it to SAP as Cremas Idoc again with all values.
I know these can be achieved using Proxy by custom Abap Code in SAP.But we would like to avoid it.
How can we achieve it?
1.RFC lookup - Shall we use these , when PI receives changed Vendor from legacy ,it will call RFC using RFC lookup and the response message from RFC lookup should be merged with source data .Is this possible?
2.Shall we achieve this using BPM ?Is it feasible and How?
Any Help greatly appreciated
Thanks,
V

I am not sure why you want to pull whole data from R3 and send back to R3.
you can follow any of these approach..
if you have any indicator for new/ changed cusotmer in the legacy data then trigger CREMAS IDoc accordingly.
mapping rules will be diffrent for New and changed CREMAS idoc.
otherwise just do RFC look up for each record then based on the output(new/changed) create or update cusotmer data through CREMAS IDoc.
when changing the customer through CREMAS no need to pass whole data again. it is enough if pass the changed fields. offcourse qualifier values for segments will differ.

• How to validate source data

Hi All,
I am new to ODI, in my process could be called in 2 modes Validation and Load
a. Validation – V – would perform the validation on the source data based on the filter criteria
b. Load – L – would perform some mandatory check and load the data in target table
my concern is how should i do only validation on source data,Please share any ideas regarding this...
Thanks in Advance...

What kinda validation you need ?
YOu can right click on datastore and go for check or else you can drag the datastores to a package and even check it there. You can also create constraints as per your requirement and check it.
The error records will be inserted into E$ table if found. Very nice article written here

• Source Data from OLE DB staging area to Import for FDM

Hi ! Please help me out on Integartion of Oracle to FDM
I want to load data into FDM directly fom Oracle database through an Integration Script.
How to take Source Data from OLE DB staging area to Import for FDM?
My main intension to import data for FDM from Oracle DB where there is no manual intervention and it could be safe. We are taking Actual data through Oracle Apps and keep that data into Oracle DB for further process.
FDM can also import data from Oracle Data Base Source means I need procedure/script to import data from Oracle data base staging area where we keep some data for HFM to enter the data on monthly basis.
OLEDB----->Import FDM-------> Export to HFM (Procedure\script without manual intervention)
Here in OLEDB data comes cumulative from Day or week to Month basis for inputing to HFM applicaiton.(Actual)
Regards and Thanks.
Edited by: user3557428 on 10-Dec-2008 00:05

You will want to look at the FDM Admin Guide
Look for Integration Import Scripts
There are a few pages that cover what you are trying to do. If you do not know VBScript it might be benefitial to tap someone who does or brush up on ADO.
Hope this helps

• How can I do multiple edits, cleansing against data

We are processing outside data and we want to edit and cleanse the data prior to loading to ensure the data is good and follows normal data referential integrity. We are loading the source data to a SQL Server Table. Can I then read this data and bounce
up against our database to ensure the data is clean? Some of the cleansing would entail table joins. So do I do this through an OLE DB Command to our application tables? And can I use raw SQL with the parameters from each row of the outside data in order to
do the table lookups to our application database? And how do I do that using OLE DB Command?
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

Not sure how you cleanse but most likely you need to implement the Lookup Transformation https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141821.aspx
bear in mind it is an expensive operation so it may take a long time and resources.

• How do we use Data rules/error table for source validation?

How do we use Data rules/error table for source validation?
We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.3.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.3.33. The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.3.0). OWB is installed on Linux.
I reviewed the posting
Re: Using Data Rules
Thanks for this forum.
I want to apply data rules to source table/view and rule violated rows should go to defined error table. Here is an example.
Table ProjectA
Pro_ID Number(10)
Project_name Varchar(50)
Pro_date Date
As per above posting, I created the table in object editor, created the data rule
NAME_NOT_NULL (ie project name not null). I specified the shadow table name as ProjectA_ERR
In mapping editor, I have projectA as source. I did not find error table name and defined data rules in table properties. It is not showing up the ERR group in source table
How do we bring the defined data rules and error table into mapping?
Are there any additional steps/process?
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance.
RI

Hi,
Thanks for your reply/pointer. I reviewed the blog. It is interesting.
What is the version of OWB used in this blog?
After defining data rule/shadow table, I deployed the table via CC. It created a error table and created the all the source coulmns in alphabatical order. If I have the primary key as 1st coulmn (which does not start with 'A') in my source, it will apprear middle of of columns in error table.
How do we prevent/workaround this?
If I have source(view) in sch A, how do we create Error table in Sch B for source(view)?
Is it feasible?
I brought the error table details in mapping. Configured the data rules/error tables.
If I picked up 'MOVE TO ERROR' option, I am getting "VLD-2802 Missing delete matching criteria in table. the condition is needed because the operator contain at least one data rule with a MOVE TO ERROR action"
On condition Loading - I have 'All constraints' for matching criteria.
I changed to "no constraints' still I get the above error.
If I change to 'REPORT' option instead of 'MOVE TO ERROR' option, error goes off.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

• How to deal with such Unicode source data in BI 7.0?

I encountered error when activating DSO data. It turned out that the source data is Unicode in the HTML representation style. For example, the source character string is:
ABCDEFG& #65288;XYZ (I added a space in between & and # so that it won't be interpreted to Unicode in SDN by web browser)
After some analysis, I see it's actually the Unicode string
ABCDEFG（XYZ
Please notice the wide left parenthesis. It's the actual character from the HTML $#xxx style above. To compare, here is the Unicode parenthesis '（' and here is the ASCII one '(' . You see they are different.
My question is: as I have trouble loading the &#... string, I think I should translate the string to actual Unicode character (like '（' in this case). But how can I achieve this?
Thanks!

I found this is called "Numeric character reference", or NCR, in HTML term. So the question is how to convert string in NCR fashion back to Unicode. Thanks.

• How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)

How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)?
The following is my configuration in the conf\mapViewerConfig.xml:
<map_data_source name="mvdemo12"
jdbc_host="127.0.0.1"
jdbc_sid="orcl12c1"
jdbc_port="1522"
jdbc_user="mvdemo"
jdbc_password="7OVl2rJ+hOYxG5T3vKJQb+hW4NPgy9EN"
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="3"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="true"
editable="true"/>
<!-- **** -->
But it does not work.
After use "sqlplus mvdemo/[email protected]:1522/pdborcl", it connected to the Oracle database 12c.
Does anyone know it?
Thanks,

For 11.1.1.7.1 use the syntax for jdbc_sid, i.e.
//mypdb1.foo.com as described in the README,
- MapViewer native (non-container) data sources can now use database service name in place of SID. To supply a db service name, you will use the same jdbc_sid attribute, but specify the service name with double slashes in front, such as follows:
<map_data_source name="myds"
jdbc_host="foo.com"
jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com"
jdbc_port="1522"
/>
For 11.1.1.7.0 use a container_ds instead.
i.e. instead of using
<map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
jdbc_host="mydbinstance"
jdbc_sid="pdborcl12c"
jdbc_port="1522"
jdbc_user="mytestuser"
jdbc_password="m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q="
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="6"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
editable="false"
/>
use
<map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
container_ds="jdbc/db12c"
number_of_mappers="6"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
editable="false"
/>
In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition was
Property
url jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name
Uncheck the Wrap JDBC Objects option in Advanced panel, i.e. the Edit JDBC Connection Pool Advanced properties page.
Add a JDBC resource for that newly created pool
Use that in mapviewerconfig.xml as above

• Programmed Binding (Container IF) - how to access source container data

Hi,
I have created a programmed binding (container IF) using a function module based on SWA_BINDING_TEMPLATE.
I want to access an element (Meldung) based on BUS2078 (QM notification) from my source container and then retrieve the material from this element.

Hi,
it works in the same way as before in case you are not using the new features like the dtp and the transformations. Using the new features, you schedule a infopackage to load the data up to psa and schedule a dtp to post the data to the targets.
