How to clear and prevent multiple identical apps on "Open With"?

I understand why "Open With" includes both old and new versions of updated apps. Fine.
But how do I CLEAR the list and prevent this from continuing? (I'd expect it to offer a "Clear List" option at the bottom. It doesn't.)

Rebuild LaunchServices Database
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt paste in the following command in its entirety:
find /System/Library/Frameworks -type f -name "lsregister" -exec {} -kill -seed -r \;
Press RETURN. Wait for the Terminal prompt to return after which you can quit the Terminal.

There are a lot of different ways to do this. One simple method is to use a switch statement when creating your pushpins and based on some property in your data, select the icon you want to use and create your pushpin accordingly.

I'm just taking a guess but if you are trying to clear information from a third party app I would think that you would have to do that from any setting that the app may provide.
For instance in the pre installed Maps app you can clear bookmarks or recent searches by tapping on the Open Book icon (bookmarks) then select Bookmarks or Recents - tap Edit and then tap the red minus sign to remove the selection.
If the app doesn't have a setting to clear the information, cache or cookies, you can't do it with the iPad iOS settings.

To correct red eyes on pictures, go to Photos app, tap the photo you want correct, tap Edit, Tap a red ball placed in the bottom of the screen, tap manually the red eyes, and Confirm.

Welcome to the Support Communities! When did you purchase your Mac? The first thing I would suggest is to review the information in the resource below for the Up-To-Date Program for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Once Yosemite is installed, you should have the option to Accept the Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps in the Mac App Store Purchases pane.

Finder enhnacements installed? = no. I did a reinstall of Mavericks, not a full clean install = no help. Searched for "single-app mode" in Spotlight and the web, no luck.
With Safari open on screen, from dock, opened iTunes and Safari does not show on screen. Open Word from doc and iTunes is not on screen.
Attached some screen shots if these help.

Yeah, I've done that. And the I click the mail app to try to check my mail, and that screen that I described above shows up.
