How to cluster Apache?

Okay I know this isn't really a cluster apache thing (as the apache code is on the local servers volme) but I guess what I want/need to know is how do I cluster an alias on an NSS volume?
So each cluster server has the Apache engine on it.
I have an NSS volume with say, an index.html and stuff on it that I want served up
Do I:
1) Create a separate virtual server for apache to load when I float the cluster resource around?
or
2) Configure each of the server's document/alias stuff to point to that volume and then as the node floats around it magically works?

More of the latter - once the volume is in place and the IP address
added, the apache2 restart will complete the bind.

  • How to configure apache for ssl in windows platform

    hi all,
can anyone help me expalin how to configure apache for ssl in windows platform.

    George,
I would take the following 'first steps'
1)Install Apache20 on your Windows machine following the Apache online documentation
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/misc/tutorials.html
2)Make sure you can 'serve up' static HTML content from your Apache Server
3)Install Weblogic Server per our online documentation
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/install/index.html
4)Also, make sure you can 'serve up' both static and dynamic (e.g., JSP) content
    directly from WLS server
5)Once you have both of the above 'sanity' checks attempt to configure a simple
proxy by ppath or mime type via our online documentation

  • How to cluster LDAP?

I've been searching for a couple of days on how to cluster LDAP. I've found several places that say you can do it but nothing showing how. Does anyone have a link to some documentation on this? I have a couple of OES2SP3 servers in a cluster and I have an LDAP_VS set up and it seems to work for other OES servers but not for SLES10.x servers.
    Thanks,
    Toney.

    > If so, you might want to ask in either the eDir-Linux forum or the SLES forum.
We chose option 2. The LDAP_VS resource that I mentioned is that floating IP resource. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.
We are using a mixed environment of OES Linux and SLES servers. We are currently using a Netware 6.5 server for eDir LDAP but when it crashes, nscd has to be restarted on all the other linux servers or it starts consuming sockets and in a couple of days the server become useless because nscd ate all the sockets. So we thought we would just put a clustered IP resource on one of our existing OES Linux clusters and that would solve the problem. When I configure other OES Linux servers to use LDAP_VS for the "LDAP for OES" settings, they work just fine, I can ssh to them and login with my lum enabled user ID. When I configure SLES servers to use LDAP_VS for LDAP lookups, I cannot ssh into them, I just get prompted repeatedly for my password. I'm really not clear on how this all works so I may be asking in the wrong forum area. I just thought that since I was trying to configure this on an OES Linux cluster that the OES Linux forum would be a logical place to start. Should I go to one of the other forum areas you mentioned?
    Thanks,
    Toney.

  • How to configure apache to avoid risks while hosting your domain

    Hi all
I am trying to host my personal site on my machine, and after configuring the personal web i am able to see the apache page when i go to my ip address (the real one, not the one from my router).
Now, i have little experience with apache on pc, and i remember that there was a bunch of files to set up authentication, users allowed to log in into your site, restrictions to avoid that some guy will sneak on the machine and get out of the web folder....etc.
Can someone please point me to the right info about how to configure apache on Leopard to avoid unwanted risks while simply hosting a site and a wiki?
    Thanks!

Leopard client only has a User Interface to turn web sharing on or off. If you want to modify apache you have to do via the command line in the terminal client.
Out of the box Leopard is configured so that only your sites folder is accessible. and the systemwide webfolder located at /Library/WebServer/Documents
so if you want your sites folder to be accessible and not the main webserver folder can rename that folder to Documents.bak for example.

  • How to install Apache Open Office on Yosemite 10.10.1

I had a MacBook Air late 2008 and it was destroyed by a mean person, now I have a late model MacBook 2009 and updated everything, but I cannot figure out how to load Apache Open Office. It keeps giving me a warning that the security system won't allow anything that is not made by Apple or has its approval or something, but it worked on the 2008 Mac and it worked awesomely! Why can I NOT find anything about it now that I have Yosemite , which is also hard to remember to spell! Any suggestions would be super appreciated especially if they work!!

    Thank you so much!
I didn't set up my first Mac, the '08, but after I learned how easy it seemed to be compared to Windows, I was a "convert" - not that I was pro-Windows, I didn't know there was anything else-  then had to go to a Windows 8.1 for a couple weeks and wow, lot of new stuff but interesting & so different that maybe I'd be more prepared if they'd changed the name, like Panes or Blocks, ect., instead of Windows!
However, coming back to the Mac, it took a little time to get reacquainted, which was't much because my first one rarely needed me to do anything, unlike while I was on Windows just those 14 days of use was frustrating, continual maintenance stuff & I just want to use the thing, not keep it running all the time, but I managed to learn to operate it fairly well, - didn't want to waste the money & be stuck w/it, so thank God for 14 day money back guarantees! I took that money back and added a few bucks more and have quality, the Cadillac of Computers!
All I needed next was Open Office and I can begin my new business I am starting!
    THANK YOU PHIL0124!!!

  • How to configure Apache Virtual Hosts?

Hi, I was wondering, how does configure Apache virtual hosts for Mac OS X Client 10.4.5? At this time, I have added
    NameVirtualHost *:80
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerAdmin [email protected]
    DocumentRoot /Library/WebServer/Documents/janus
    ServerName janus.php.test
    ErrorLog /private/var/log/httpd/janus.php.com-error_log
    CustomLog /private/var/log/httpd/janus.php.com-access_log common
    </VirtualHost>
Finally, when I try to use the name in the browser, I get the following error message:
    Safari can’t find the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://janus.php.test/” because it can’t find the server “janus.php.test”.
Well, I must go and thanks in advance.
    Peace,
    -Conrad

If you want to use the fqdn you defined and can/do not want to register it as a Internet Domain you can add it to the hosts file in /etc/hosts if you are comfortable using terminal and the shell
    open a terminal
    and use the following commands
    cd /etc
    sudo vim hosts
(you will be prompted for your password here, enter it and hit return)
in vim scroll to the last line which will look like
    ::1 localhost
    type
    i
(you are now in insert mode)
    type the following line
    192.168.0.15 janus.php.test
(replace the ip address with the ip address of the host in question)
    hit Control-C
    type
:w (vim will confirm in the last line)
    type
    :q
you are back at the terminal
test your new hosts file by typing
    ping janus.php.test
    Hope this helps

  • How to configure Apache to serve static content? Please Help

    Hi Guys,
I have a set of servers that are:
    - Apache acting as a Load Balance;
    - Admin Server;
    - A cluster with 2 managed servers.
I have a web application deployed on my cluster, but I would like that the static content would be delivered by the Apache.
    How should I do it?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Daniel,
A Reverse Proxy could do this but keep in mind that the primary goal of the RP is to shield your back channel infrastructure IP/access from either Internet or your private network e.g. secure your back channel infrastructure with a Firewall and expose it only to your Reverse Proxy infrastructure; quite effective for DoS type of attack.
Apache can be configured to do both static content as well as Reverse Proxy.

  • How to do Apache configuration for two different domains

    Hi ,
I was just trying out some clustering workshop on weblogic. I faced a issue..here is the scenario :
    I have two clusters :
    Cluster1 : 3 managed servers (server1,server2,server3)
    Cluster2 : 2managed servers (server4,server5)
I have two sample applications which i have deployed on these two clusters i.e app1 on cluster1 and app2 on cluster2.
These two aplications are deployed successsfully as i am able to open these applicatons from browser by calling the individual port of the managed server like : http://localhost:7003/app1.
Now i have installed a apache server on my laptop and configured the http.conf file.
Issue : I am not able to call both the application from apache. If there is only one cluster then it is working fine and for two application only one cluster (application) is working that too whose port is defined in the last.
Here are the contents of my httpd.conf file :
    # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information.
    # In particular, see
    # <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
    # for a discussion of each configuration directive.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/logs/foo.log".
    # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
    # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
    # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which httpd.exe is located
    # will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
    # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths to avoid confusion.
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
    # ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
    # at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
    # httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
    ServerRoot "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2"
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    # Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
    # prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    Listen 80

This configuration is weird little bit. There is MatchExpression /app1 and MatchExpression /app2 and at the same time two <Location /weblogic> sections. Are you sure you understand what that configuration stands for?
    Try something like this ...
    <Location /app1>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicCluster 127.0.0.1:7003,127.0.0.1:7005,127.0.0.1:7007,127.0.0.1:7103,127.0.0.1:7104
