How to come true a constant temperature control through PCI 7344

I have one PCI-7344 to control three motors.I also need to come true a constant temperature control through 7344.
using "Analog Input"and "Analog Reference",is it possible to come true the control.
To come true it, what others I need?
Waiting for your answer!
Thanks

Langtian,
In general the PID control loop of the 7344 can be used for a wide
variety of control applications. You can use the analog inputs to
acquire the feedback signals and the analog outputs to control e. g.
torque, flow rates and so on. For temperature control the board seems
to be a bit oversized as temperatures typically change very slowly
compared to the high control loop rates of the 7344 but this shouldn't
result in a problem.
Please note that the "Analog Reference" Output can't be used for
control tasks as this is a static analog output fixed to 7.5 V which
can't be changed.
For more information about how to use NI motion control boards with analog feedback please refer to this link and to this document.

Now, I already have such a VI which gives me the temperature of heater. But i want to control the temperature of the Heater from VI, in which when i give certian temperature, then power supply provide the current in such amount that the required temperature is gained and  stops when the temperature crosses the limit.

The problem is that you have basically created two completely different VI's and slapped them together.  One is your real world analog input and analog output.  The Inputs and Outputs are not connected to each other in any way.   The second VI is the PID simulation example.  It is an example to show you how a PID control algorithm is used.  As an example, they created the "Plant" simulator there.  That is simulating the real world for the purpose of the example and has nothing to do with your real world inputs and outputs.  And why do you have the Proportional Gain VI in the upper loop and its output goes to the while loop tunnel and is never used again?
What you need to do is only use the actual PID portion of the example and have it placed in your upper loop.  You have your DAQmx read.  The analog input from that is fed to the PID subVI.  The output of the subVI is fed to the Analog output DAQmx Write VI.
One thing you will have to do is modify the DAQmx Read.  You are reading an N channel N sample and getting a waveform.  Why the N channel version when you are actually only using 1 channel?  Also, youi need to get it to a single sample.  You can use multiple samples, but it should only be for the sake of averaging the data together into a single value to feed to the PV of the PID subVI.  As such, you should use either 1 channel 1 sample, or 1 channel N samples Array where the array is averaged to a single value.  The Waveform type doesn't do you any good because you can't do anything with its timing information.

  • Position Control of compumotor linear servo table and GV-U6E with PCI-7344

    I'm referring PCI-7344 (not 7334).
I have the GV-U6E which is a drive only and does not possess control functionality. the drive only version does not store or use programs. So, serial commands can not be sent through COM port by LabVIEW even though A few basic commands can be emulated.
I am trying to do position control as I mentioned. For example, the motor should move A point to B point exactly with a certain speed. The points must be aboulte position.
I would like you to see the reference comment that I have been contacting with in your website forum.

Yes, we used an NI PXI-7344 motion control card with an NI UMI-7764 box connected to a Gemini GV-U12E servo drive. (which is a drive only.)
We did positional control in absolute position mode.
I can send you an AutoCAD schematic detailing how to connect the UMI-7764 to the Gemini GV servo drive.
In regard to the Rs232 interface to the GV servo drive,
the GV drive only model is "configurable" not "programmable". You can create unique GV configuration files with Compumotor's Motion planner then download the configuration via Rs232 using LabVIEW as desired. Or, using LabVIEW via Rs232 you can change individual GV drive parameters on demand,
or use the GV's two analog outputs back to LabVIEW's analog inputs to measure commanded motor current or torque, etc.etc.etc

  • How to change value of constant for "Disabled" Property Node?

    Hello all,
I'm attaching a vi example of what I'm wanting to do. It is happening during the event for "Left Selectorrogrammed 1: Value change.
Basically I've created a property node for a LED boolean control. After it is clicked, I am wanting to disable it so the user cannot change the value (I have a reset all button for use on that).
I've created the property node for this control for Disabled.  When I am in the block diagram, I change it to write mode.
I've rt clicked on it, and said "create constant", which it does.  However, the constant comes up every time as "Enabled". I've tried clicking all over this constant, and looking through all the properties, but I cannot figure out how to toggle through the values or set the value of this constant from "Enabled" to "Disabled".
I see where you can edit the items of this constant...but I'm guessing there is some way to toggle this constant to the value you wish....any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    cayenne

To change a constant value your cursor needs to be in the "finger" mode.
You can select this by holding down shift and right-clicking on the diagram - then select the finger.
Another way is to set Automatic Tool selection:
Tools >> Options >> Environment >> Lock automatic tool selection
With this option, LabVIEW will choose the tools for you.
Play with it a bit to see how it works.

  • An overclocker/modders dream come true - 7900gt?

I have been reading about the simple conductive pen volt mod for the 7900gt to get it to a 7900gtx level of performance...wow...if true and this easy, this could be an all time overclockers/modders dream come true.  So if you thinking about upgrading and willing to mod your vid card, this may well be the card to get!
Here is but just one discussion with pictures on the volt mod for the 7900gt.  I know that this will void my warranty, but isnt the risk worth the benefit?  I wonder if nvidia will try and "fix" this so you wont be able to do it in the future.  Anyway, Im waiting another 60 days to see if these users start reporting blown cards so I just dont happen to mod mine too soon...any comments?
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=176625

The picture you provided looks far simplier than the first one I posted in the link I provided.  Was this because later you or users traced it back to this one chip and pins?
Actually it started with the chip.  After looking at the white papers it was discovered it was a binary input VRM setting the output voltage.  The concern was that the pins are so small that beginners/intermediate users will not be able to solder or short the pins.  Those pins were later traced to areas of the board where the user has more room to work.  I thought the d511 to that ground pad was the easiest way for the masses to get 1.4v so I posted the "yellow line" picture.  There are tons of ways to do the various mod, I have seen other ways to get the extra 1.15 volts for 1.55v total that maybe more appealing to your style of modding.  The way I did it was the d511 to ground yellow line which gives 1.4v, then also the shorting of pins 30-32 on the chip to get the 1.55v, both mods are required for 1.55v.  The 2nd part of the mod in the picture I posted here is actually a bit more patience inspiring then you would think.  Those pins are small.  I use a sewing needle with so little conductive paint you could hardly see it and I still got a pretty big blob on there.
    Quote
In some of the other threads on either xstreamsys or guru3d, they talk about modifiy the card greatly to get to 1.7 or more volts...but when I look at the difference in performance of a pen/paint mod which is reversable and a 1.7 mod, I dont see a huge increase in performance.
The 1.7v mod is only for the extreme user.  It requires soldering and is not worth it in my opinion.  You are effectively changing the chip to read Intel VRM code from AMD VRM.(So you get output options up to 1.7 with the same binary inputs.).  I also think the gains are minimal to pump that kind of voltage through the chip.  The damage possible is not worth a few more clocks.
    Quote
I also read somewhere that these 7900gts shouldnt go above the 1.4 volts....how true is that.
The core themselves are the same, so 1.4v(default for GTX) is beyond a doubt safe.  Going above that...same as overclocking the CPU I suppose,.... risk is involved but staying around 10% or lower overvoltage probably will not shorten the life of the card enough that it will be obsolete before it dies.
There was some initial concern about the fact the voltage regulators are different on the GT's then the GTX's.  I forget the numbers but I measured temps from 1.2v to 1.55v with a contact temperature probe and noticed a slightly evelavated temperature(something like 5-8C) on the mosfets and chokes.  Supposedly the overcurrent protection will shut them down if they draw more current(making the heat) then they can handle by design.  This one I'm not so sure about.  It very well could shorted the life of the card drastically, not the GPU but the voltage regulator.  It may be a time will tell thing, however I haven't heard of any deaths do to a properly done mod yet but it's only been a month and a half.  Personally I didn't see anything getting so hot that it had me concerned that immediate death was coming.
    1. I either use a conductive pen or window defogger repair kit.  I think it's harder to remove the window fogger once dried though but it still comes off.  I got my pen at Fry's Electronics but they don't have Fry's everywhere, they might at Radio Shack.  The window defogger repair kit is in most Auto Part Stores.
    2.  I'm not really sure about the Zalman 700.  What I would do is the 1.4v mod from d511 to ground.  Run ATI Tool and monitor the temperatures to determine if you are going to have the cooling capacity headroom for 1.55v
    3.  One of the cards I had could only do 640 at 1.4v, still a nice improvement from the 580Mhz it could do at stock 1.2v.  Like I said above I would try 1.4v at see what it gets you.  If you are 650 +/- 10 then I'd just stop there.  You then end up giving the card alot more volts for smaller gains.
    4. Yes I like ATI Tool. If you are artifact free in it, usually I notice no issues in games.  Not that I play tons of games though...
I also recommend a multimeter, but not necessary.  I like to verify my work.  Checking continuity between my shorted pins, and isolation from pins near the mod.  There are pictures that show the test point for Vgpu also.

  • Soundcard in temperature control system?

    Hi!
I would like to use soundcard's output to power heater (via amplifier, of course) in a temperature control system. I figured out I could use 2nd soundard (or a virtual one) to get rid of Windows and other applications' sounds.
But what is the right (good) way to output a _continuous_ tone?
    Thanks everybody!
    Vitaly

Thanks for your interest, I am in no way offended. The system is a small (1 m long, 16 mm diameter) measurements probe. It is submerged in the liquid nitrogen (helium). The sample holder (~30 mm long, ~10 mm diameter) is inside the probe, close to the bottom and has a small heater (~100 Ohm resistance, maximum necessary power ~1 W). The whole probe is filled with gas (helium) to ensure proper thermal exchange between the sample holder and the walls of the probe. It's all rather conventional in low temperature measurements.
How? I can measure sample holder's temperature (takes a diode or a resistor sensor and a DMM connected via GPIB). You are right, PID regulator will be used to calculate the necessary power. So I want to connect PID regulator's output to the amplitude (volume) control of the soundcard. I do not quite understand what you mean by "Unless your output frequencies are very low, I cannot see any benefit of trying to use a sound card." But I will connect the soundcard's output to the amplifier/rectifier. I only rectify to avoid electromagnetic interference between the heater signal and measurements currents (very low ones), otherwise I could even connect the heater directly. For the same reason digital pulse width modulation and the like cannot be used.
Why? Because basic analog output card costs ~$300, I think it's a real waste in my case. However, seeing (hearing) that it's not that simple to get true continuous sound, I might be forced to change my mind.

  • ****How to come out of the  infinite loop by passing a perticular message

    Hi all,
Can You Pl expalin me in detail "How to come out of the  infinite loop by passing a perticular message in BPM Scenarios"
    Thanks,
    Srinivasa

    Hi Potharaju,
For this al you need to do is define an IP with two branches. One of the branch receives message of a particular type only. And the other branch is used for stopping the message processing. This is achieved using the correlation. Correlation makes sure that the message of the first type goes to the first branch only and that the message of second type should go to the second branch only. Now when the message of the second type is received, the control comes out of the infinite loop.
    Hope it makesit clear.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev.

  • How to include limit switches into my control loop and how to access them through Labview

I'm developing a six degrees of freedom machine with servo motors,UMI flex6 and Labview-5.1.I was unable to access the limitswithes. So I would like to know the connections diagram,UMIflex6 board settings and the Vi's to be included in the program.please help me out in solving this problem.

    Hi Kolakanuru,
Thanks for using our discussion forums. How you connect your limit switches depends on what type of motion board you are using. For example, if you look at the connection diagram for a PCI-7344, you can see that Forward Limit switches connect to pins 39, 45, 51, and 57. These will then pin out directly to the UMI. For the connection diagram for your particular motion control board, you can go to www.ni.com/manuals and pull up the necessary information. In regards to reading this in LabVIEW, the first thing you will want to check out is Measurement and Automation Explorer. In the interactive windows for your board, you can check the limit switch status there- Press your limit switch on and off and make sure that it changes the LED in MAX. Once that i
s all set, then you can go into LabVIEW and use the "Read Limit Status" VI which you can find in Functions>>All Functions>>NI Measurements>>Motion>>FlexMotion>>Motion I/O palette. Good luck with your application.

  • How to delete archive log files from ASM through Grid Control

    Hi
Anybody suggest me how to delete archive log files from ASM through Grid Control.
    Thanks

It is important to specify both, the oracle version and os version when posting, so confusions can be avoided.
In this particular case, since you are referring to asm and grid control you could be talking about either 10gR1, 10gR2 or 11gR1; but I strongly suggest you to avoid us to be guessing. In either case, you sould go to the maintenance tab of the target database and program a scheduled 'delete noprompt obsolete;' procedure. This will purge the information stored at the Flash recovery area, which I assume you have declared inside the ASM.

  • How do I add a constant into a DAQMX Graph

Using the example VI "Continious Acquisition Thermocouple Samples Internal Clock" in DAQMX Base how do I add a constant onto the waveform chart that is displaying the thermocouple reading ? What I really want are upper and lower limit constants that are displayed on the graph.
    Thanks

Assuming that you're getting an array of waveform data types back from the DAQ board, you just have to append a couple of waveforms with the same number of samples and a fixed value. I modified an example that uses DAQmx but I think the DAQmx base example should be similar. Change the constants to the upper and lower levels that you want or replace the constants with front panel controls.

  • How to add series to Business Graphics control dynamically?

    Hi Experts,
How to add series to Business Graphics control dynamically?
I tried the method add_series( ) but could not use it properly.
If you have any clues of using it, let me know.
    I need it urgently.
    Best Regards,
    Arti.

I'm not sure what ADD_SERIES method you are refering to. The only programable API for the Business Graphics that I found was this one:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/42/e61cd068dc3ee4e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
I've not ever tried it, but you not just add the series UI element like any other dynamic UI manipulation during the WDDOMODIFYVIEW?
