How to configure a default parameter

hi,
I'm working with Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET 2005.
I created a DateTime parameter for a report. I'm having difficulty to affected it a default value coming from a Datasource (ADO.NET dataSource).
I created a DataTable "OtherInfo.DateBegin" to pass its value to the parameter of my report.
And tried to configure it by the Crystal window "Define Default Value" that you can see here ( p96) :
http://books.google.fr/books?id=j-RW7iA_qF4C&pg=PT75&lpg=PT75&dq=Crystalparam%C3%A8tre%22S%C3%A9lectionnerdanslabasede+donn%C3%A9es%22&source=bl&ots=6c-OalBnc8&sig=1vDLC6zi_60NVN5sJCf71vJRjJc&hl=fr&ei=ZCN1S9GqCJTE4gbpsNizCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=&f=false
my problem is after selecting the table and it's field, the value of the field doesn't show in the list box below so i can't select the value to affected it as a default value.
I hope i was clear enough. Could you please help me to make it work or find a nother solution?

I'm not familiar with the book you've referenced. However, you can manipulate the default parameters in a Crystal Report using the .NET SDK by accessing the ReportDocument.ParameterFields collection. Each ParameterField contains a collection of DefaultValues. I would suggest add/deleting items from the DefaultValues.

  • How I configure a default value in an entity object?

    Hi,
    1:how I configure a default value in an entity object?
    attribute type: DATE
    I want to set the current date
    ...thanks

    Override the create() action in your entity object implementation:
    protected void create(AttributeList attributeList)
    * This method should be subclassed to supply programmatic default values to
    * various attributes of a new Entity Object. For example, to create a sequence.
    * Instances of subclasses should call super.create() before performing any operations.
    System.out.println("create(AttributeList attributeList) - start");
    Date datSysdate = ( oracle.jbo.domain.Date) Date.getCurrentDate();
    super.create(attributeList);
    // set the default to today...
    setHiredate( datSysdate );
    System.out.println("create(AttributeList attributeList) - end");
    }

  • How to use different default parameter value for different report subscriptions

    In ssrs is it possible to define different default parameter values for different subscriptions? In the following example I have a report which has two subscriptions with different start date and end date values:
    Report name – Testsubscription.rdl
    Subscription-1
    Input parameter (default values):
    start_date = first day of current Month
    end_date = till date
    Subscription-2
    Input parameter (default values):
    start_date = first day of current Quarter
    end_date = till date
    I know an alternative way of doing this would be to copy the rdl file with a different name but I am curious whether this can be done within a single report definition file. I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.
    Thanks!
    spp

    Hi sppdba,
    As per my understanding, there is a report with two parameter: start_date and end_date, you want to configure subscription for the report, and set different default values for start date and end date. And you want to know if it is possible to achieve you
    goal by using a single report definition file.
    Since you are using SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition, we need to achieve your goal by configuring two subscriptions for the report. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
      1. In design surface, right click start_date and open Parameter Properties dialog box.
      2. In General pane, type Name and Prompt, set Data Type to Date/Time.
      3. Click Available Values in left pane, select Specify Values.
      4. Click Add button, in Label text box, type “First day of Current Month”, click (fx) button in Value section, then type the expression like below:
    =DateSerial(Year(Now()), Month(Now()), 1)
      5. Click Add button, in Label text box, type “First day of Current Quarter”, click (fx) button in Value section, then type the expression like below, then click OK.
    =DateSerial(Year(Now()), (3*DatePart("q",Now()))-2, 1)
      6. Right click end_date and open Parameter Properties dialog box.
      7. In Available Values pane, select Specify Values.
      8. Click Add button, in Label text box, type “Today”, click (fx) button in Value section, then type the expression =Today(), then click OK.
    Now that the parameters are created, we need to configure subscription for the report. For detail information, please follow these steps:
      1. Open Report Manager, and locate the report for which you want to create a new subscription.
      2. Hover over the report, and click the drop-down arrow.
      3. In the drop-down menu, click Manage. This opens the General properties page for the report.
      4. Select the Subscriptions tab, and then click New Subscription.
      5. Select the delivery extension and data source for the subscription.
      6. Select a method of delivery, then choose report delivery options.
      7. Specify conditions that cause the subscription to process and delivery to occur.
      8. Set start_date to First day of Current Month, end_date to Today, then click OK.
      9. Create a new subscription as step4 to 7, set start_date to First day of Current Quarter, end_date to Today, then click OK.

  • New Outlook 2013 Installation - How to configure for default pop email and access exchange 2003 server for shared folders only

    I have successfully installed and configured outlook 2013 to access my pop.integra.net email accounts.  We have an 2003 exchange server we use for shared folders which I am having difficulty accessing.
    My preference would be to set up my access to the exchange server and use the same data folders for email as are in use for my pop email account.  In outlook 2003 this was simple, but in 2007 on up it seems this feature has been hobbled.  Is there
    a workaround to get both accounts to use the same database?
    Next issue is if I use the Mail client wizard under Control Panel to set up access to the exchange server - everything looks fine but when launching outlook I receive the following 2 error messages:
    "The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange.  Contact your e-mail administrator for assistance."
    "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened.  Your Microsoft Exchange administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that your are using.  Contact your administrator for assistance."
    Obviously the optimal solution is to upgrade the Exchange Server - assuming that is not an option - are there any workarounds?
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Downgraded to Office 2007.
    So now have a new Windows 8.1 laptop with outlook 2007 installed.
    From what I have been told this should allow me to connect to the Exchange2003 server
    I set up the pop account - works fine
    set up the exchange account through Mail.exe and am unable to launch outlook.
    "Microsoft Exchange is Unavailable"
    "Retry - Work Offline - Cancel"
    Then
    "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook.  Cannot open the Outlook Window.  The set of folders cannot be opened.  The information store could not be opened."
    The data file path is the same for both the pop account and the exchange account:
    C:\Users\Scott\app data\local\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst
    How do I get this to work?

  • How can configure the default page when the application startup?

    I would like, when i published my application in weblogic, write the context root and automatically start my first page.
    For examples, I have 3 pages in ADF project. The names are: a.jspx, b.jspx and c.jspx
    When I publish I see in Jdeveloper:
    The following URL context root(s) were defined and can be used as a starting point to test your application:
    [02:15:30 PM] http://localhost:7101/myapplication-ViewController-context-root
    but when I write this link in my browser I get an error (404 not found).
    I try http://localhost:7101/myapplication-ViewController-context-root/faces/ but I get the same error.
    I would like that a.jspx runs automatically when I write the context, is possible?
    In adfc-config.xml I just use control-flow-role and in "From Activity ID" i wrote * and in control-flow-case in "To Activity ID" I wrote a.jspx but I think this need when I come to other pages where i do not use outcome and is not correct for the first time when I run the application, is it?.
    Thanks

    I put the view component and in its property Page I wrote /a.jspx but nothing.
    When I deploy in and type http://localhost:7101/myapplication-ViewController-context-root/faces/ the application server change to http://localhost:7101/myapplication-ViewController-context-root/faces/?...
    I don't know where is the mistake.

  • How do you use Default Resource Access Information?

    I have some 10g Forms & Reports that I want to use with SSO and they will all be connecting to the database with the same connection info. I know how to configure a Default Resource Access Information, but how do you use this with Forms & Reports?

    Douglas,
    the default Resource Access Infomation should be the connection information right? This is used in conjunction with SSO. You need to configure your F&R applications to delegate authentication to SSO by placing ssoMode=true in the config section of formsweb.cfg.
    The Forms Servlet will connect to OID retrieve the Resource Access Information (descriptor) for a given user and automatically log them into the application.
    Users will need a global identity in OID and SSO must be enabled to use resource access info with F&R

  • Is it possible to configure non-default NX7K CoS-DSCP map?

    NX7K QoS has system defined table maps for CoS to DSCP mapping, DSCP to CoS mapping, etc. Those table maps can be used in qos policy maps. I was wondering if I can change, for example, CoS to DSCP mapping to something different from the default values.
    Somthing similar to Catalyst switch command "mls qos map cos-dscp 0 10 18 24 34 46 48 56", where you can define any CoS to DSCP values. I don't think this is possible in NX7K QoS, but just curious.

  • How to configure Environment Parameter BW_SPEC_USAGE to get multiple Usages

    We are extracting EHS data from R/3 to BW system. The Environment Parameter BW_SPEC_USAGE can allow only ONE Rating and ONE Validity Area. Our EHS is maintained for many different Ratings and Validity Areas. Does any experts know how to configure Environment Parameter BW_SPEC_USAGE to get data from multiple Usages (the combinations of Rating and Validity Areas).
    The default usage is PUBLIC: REG_WORLD (Rating: Validity Area), so we configure the default Usage as sort sequence 0. EHS data maintained for PUBLIC: REG_WORLD is then extracted to BW system successfully. Then, I try to create another sort sequence of  BW_SPEC_USAGE as CUSTOMER: REG_EU, but the data maintained for CUSTOMER: REG_EU has never been extracted to BW. I guess this may be the solution to carry multiple Usages, but not sure it is the correct way to do it. Plus, I don't know what to input to the field "Parameter Value" and don't know if the "Parameter Value" matters.
    Does any expert have experience to configure Environment Parameter BW_SPEC_USAGE?
    Thank you in advance
    Tina Wu

    Hello Tina
    I have done a small review of this paramater. I believe by using this paramter there is no "further option".  But: to my knowlegde you can define several "extractors" (via customizing etc.) (e.g. Data related to 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT Extractor.)
    You can define any type of extraktor. EHS does have some "standard extraktors" (please consult corresponding release information). In preparing a "customer specific" extraktor it is clear that you can do there what you would like to get. (retrieve data with several usages). We have done that recently successfully.

  • How to set a default date as a parameter in Microsoft Reporting Services 2008 to January 1st

    How can I set a default parameter for date for 01/01/yyyy.

    Hi Giss68,
    If I understand correctly, you want to set the first day of current year as a default value of a parameter in Microsoft Reporting Services 2008 report.
    If in this scenario, we can use the expression below as the default value in the parameter:
    =DateAdd("d",-DatePart(DateInterval.DayOfYear,Today,0,0)+1,Today)

    How to set the default selection  to "Select All" in a Multi valued parameter in SSRS 2008?

    You need to specify "Default Values" in the report parameter property. Choose similar option used in the "Available Values" option, this will allow the parameter to check "Select All".

  • How do I pass a default parameter to a CR XI report in VB6?

    Hi,
    How do I pass a default parameter to a CR XI report in VB6?
    For example I have a parameter list of years from 2000 to 2020 and I want to pass on the result of str(Year(Now)) so that the user automatically sees the current calendar year as his/her default option - but can choose another year from the drop down list - if wished.
    "AddDefaultValue" seems to have no effect at all (probably because the current year already exists in the parameter list)
    "AddCurrentValue" removes the parameter altogether and the report defaults to the current year.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!
    Peter Tyler

    Hi Mark, thanks for your quick response.
    >>You might find it easier to do the dropdowns and calendar selections on the VB6 side and just pass the record selection to the report >>
    This is what I am doing but I cannot get the current year to appear as the default in the drop down parameter list also it appears I cannot clear the existing report parameter fields.
    This is my code:
    'clear the existing parameter list of the Year parameter
    MsgBox CrRep.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("Year").NumberOfDefaultValues
    This gives me the total number of existing parameters in the CRXI report
    CrRep.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("Year").ClearCurrentValueAndRange
    MsgBox CrRep.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("Year").NumberOfDefaultValues
    This gives me the new number of existing parameters in the CRXI report which is exactly the same as before so .ClearCurrentValueAndRange seems to have no effect
    'now add the new default parameter to the list
    CrRep.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("Year").AddDefaultValue (Str(Year(Now)))
    CrRep.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("Year").AddDefaultValue (varUnderline)
    'now generate and add the required parameter fields
    Dim varParameterYear As String
    varParameterYear = "2003"
    Do While Not varParameterYear = "2031"
    CrRep.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("Year").AddDefaultValue (varParameterYear)
    varParameterYear = varParameterYear + 1
    Loop
    The result of the above as that the intially declared parameter (Str(Year(Now)))
    - which is "2009" - now appears at the top of the generated parameter list but is not the default parameter and the user still has to drop down the list box to choose the year.
    Any advice on both these issues would really help !

  • CR-XI How to prefil Default Parameter value in code

    I am setting parameter default value(s) in VB6 code.  When the report is launched the default parameter is in the list but not selected.  The user has to manually select the value instead of just accepting the default value and pressing enter key to launch the report.  I would like parameters to prefil with default values like they did in Crystal version 7 when using the OCX.
    I am using CR XI and VB6.  I am passing a default parameter by using .
    <report object>.ParameterFields(1).AddDefaultValue
    If I use <report object>.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue the parameter then the report viewer knows the parameter value and the form does not display the value incase the user desires to change it.
    My Question is how can I display the parameter and prefill with the default value.  When I use "AddDefaultValue" like above the parameter will be in the dropdown but will be blank when the form opens.  This requires the user to use the mouse and click the dropdown to display the default value.  I would prefer the default show in the dropdown so the user just has to press the enter key to launch the report (if the user wants to accept all default values).
    If this is not possible with the current viewer class then maybe the development team can include in future updates.
    Thanking you all in advance.

    Hi Brent,
    The document you linked is for the Enterprise Product.  As Jonathan stated, the RDC for XIR2 is supported for use in VB6, you do not have to have .NET.  This can be found in the Crystal Reports supported Platform document found here:
    [http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/communitycs/TechnicalPapers/cr_xi_r2_supported_platforms_windows_sp3.pdf|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/communitycs/TechnicalPapers/cr_xi_r2_supported_platforms_windows_sp3.pdf]
    Crystal Report XIR2 is the last version that has the RDC.
