How to connect 1d boolean array in case selector?

hi
i am using two different types of sensor to make a controller. this is the initial part. when i tried to get the real time data of my sensor through labview, i found some unwanted data. e.g. after every 5/10 data set, suddenly i got (o.oo o.oo) type data. interesting fact is that, usually two sensor didn't give this (0.00, 0.00) type data set at the same time. (please see the attached font panel and a array named (x+y), first 2column from 1 sensor and next 3column from another sensor...if u look at row no 7 and 12, u will see the data set of 2sensors are 0.) i wanted to remove this type of data for real time operation. thats why i tried to make a program who would filter those data. . i used comparator to check wheter all data are 0 or not. if all were 0 then it was supposed to operate true operation of case structure and eventually there would b no output. but unfortunately it didn't work. the block diagram is attached herewith. i am very new in labview. can anyone please help me and let me know what wrong i did?

hi... thanks for ur reply. my actual VI and the data file (in .doc format. this post doesn't support .dat format) are attached here. actually i have to execute it for real time data. in that case number of row would be unpredictable. in the first stage i only tried to have it using offline data. please feel free to ask me if u want to know more. for ur convenience i've uploaded VI for 2011 and 2013 both. BTW, i used the "or" boolean... so why do u think that it would work only when rows all elements  are 0 at a time... i m just curious...

    OK, with this information we can probably assume that exactly one of the arry elements is true and you want to know which one. Feed it to "search array" and hook a boolean true diagram constant to the "element" input. You'll get a number between 0 and 3. WIre that number to your case structure and add two more cases so you have one for each condition.
    Also add a case for -1 in the event that none of the elements is true. Make it the default case, just to be sure.

  • How to manipulate arrays using case statements and boolean conditions?

    In the vi that is attached I am trying to compare two values in two different arrays and delete the value that is equal to zero.  The values of each array are rounded to the closest integer.  Then I attempted to apply the ">0" boolean as the condition for my case statement, but I am getting an error.  Any tips on manipulating arrays with case statements?

    Thank you!!! that was a huge help. I don't think I need the case structures at all.  The next part of the code compares the 4 values in the array. 
    If columns 0 and 1 are both positive -> output 1
    If column 0 is negative and 1 is positive -> output 2
    If columns 0 and 1 are both negative -> output 3
    If column 0 is positive and 1 is negative -> output 4
    (0 is x-axis value, 1 is y-axis value.....outputs are assigning quadrants to the combination)
    Only one of the "AND" booleans will return true for each index.  Is there a way to initialize another array of outputs 1-4 depending on which AND returns true?

  • How to implement index array inside case structure for searching a 3D array?

    Well I have a 3D array and I want to index certain elements from that array. And I have thought of one way of doing this is to have multiple index array functions on the block diagram to search the array simultaneously, but that would be messy. Or I could setup some kind of case structure and place each index array function into individual cases. I've tried the latter, but when I connect the 3D array to the case structure at the"?" it doesn't give me permission because it says I'm hooking up two different types of data. Case Structure is for T or F and 3D array is not a boolean.
    So how can I setup the Case Structure to work for a 3D array?

    A case structure's selection tunnel cannot accept an array.  What exactly are your search criteria?  It sounds like a few FOR loops will be needed.

  • How to Use a Boolean Vector To Index an Array

    Say I have an array A = [1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10].
    I also have a boolean array B = [1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1].
    I want to use the boolean array B to pick out elements in A, creating a new array C = [1 2 10]. In MATLAB, I would just type C = A(B).
    I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how to do this. One solution would be to run through a for loop, querying B(i), and deleting A(i) if B(i) = 1. But this would change the size of A, so that the second time I did this, my index would be wrong.
    Anyone know a clean way of doing this?
    BONUS: If I have a 2D AA, with multiple columns, it would be nice to use B to pick out multiple columns of AA (in MATLAB, this would be CC = AA(:,B).

    1) ReplaceArraySubset with indices 0&1 and element=TRUE.
    2) OR Array with an array constant of [(F,T),(F,F)]

  • How to create a list/array off numbers with boolean attributes

    Hi,
         Maybe the title doesn't explain this too well but what I'm trying to do I'd imagine should be straight forward, I just don't know how!
    I want an array of numbers to be entered by a user, and for each of these numbers I wish to have a boolean, (it will select later what action is performed on that number)
    The array size can vary
    e.g.
    element       Numeric Value              Boolean
    0                       5                             True
    1                       20                           True
    2                       -5                            False
    3                       10                           True
    n                       100                         False
    I don't see any list with numeric and boolean, maybe I just haven't spotted it or do I have to make it somehow?
    Any suggestions please?

                              It not really what I'm looking for though. 
    I require is a control that inputs both numeric and boolean,  as in the example I mentioned. I guess I'm looking for a cluster really but I thought there may be something more straight forward.
    From the example I gave  
    Element 0 of this array has been entered as a x, and the boolean True was entered (so I perform a "test" A on value x)
    Element 1 of this array has been entered as a y, and the boolean True was entered (so I perform a "test" A on value y)
    Element 2 of this array has been entered as a z, and the boolean False was entered (so I perform a "test" B on value z)
    I could also use a 2d array were I enter another numeric value (0/1 for False/True) but I'm not sure I can limit this column only to accept 0 or zero and the first row any number.
    I was hoping there would be some easier way to do this

    How do I address the cell bArr[0] or any other cell in bArr ???

    I am trying to return a Boolean array from Labview to TestStand and have TS evaluate the results. I can do this for arrays of integers or reals but booleans do not work. I tried copying the PassFailTest step type and adding an array of Bool but I couldn't get it to evaluate the array. It simply always passed. How can this be done?

    I have thought about evaluating the Boolean data in TestStand but, as you say, this is a lot of work. What I have been doing is to map the boolean data to integers in LV (very easy) and then use the multiple numeric step type to evaluate the integer array automatically. This feels kludgy and I have tried a couple of times to create a "multiple boolean" step type with little success. I'm surprised TS hasn't anticipated a test returning multiple pass/fail results. I do this all the time for production code.
    What I have tried is to copy MultipleNumericLimitsTest data type to a custom type and add a BooleanArray with a data type Array of Boolean[0..empty]. Then when I specify module, I select Step.BooleanArray as the value. The last step (that I know of) is to select Step.BooleanArray as the data source in the edit limits window. At this point if I run the test, I get the error "expect numeric, found boolean" (or something similar). When I look at the properties of my custom step type, the Substeps has DoMultiNumericMeasEvaluation as the Post-Step. I believe this is the root of my problem but I can't figure out how to change this to "DoMultiBooleanMeasEvaluation" or similar. Any Ideas?

    I'm inputting an Hex number and want vi to display it as a Boolean array of indicators.
    The LSB appears to be on the top if the array goes up and down or, on the Left most while going right and left.
    As in Registers, the LSB is always on the Right most.
    How do I change the order of this display 180 degrees, so that the LSB is on the Right?

    I have a boolean array of 1000 0's or 1's and want to know the number of times this array is in the 1 position.
    The array is repeated within a structure and i need a number for each iteration to be passed onto the next (using a shift register).

    The quick easy way is to convert the boolean array to a 0-1 array from the boolean menu, then sum the array using "sum array elements" from the numerical menu.

    Hi, I'm working on using the DAQ digital output to control the digital input of a DAC, and I used the Number To Boolean Array Function. VI to convert the number to a Boolean array. The maximum number should be 4096, therefore it should consist of 12 elements.
    For the description of the VI, it says Boolean array returns an array of 8, 16, 32, or 64 elements, depending on the number of bits in the integer. Therefore, I change the number of the channels in task to 16, but it still doesn't work. Any suggesitions are greatly appreciated.

    Possible reason(s):
    Write cannot be performed, because the number of channels in the data does not match the number of channels in the task.
    When writing, supply data for all channels in the task. Alternatively, modify the task to contain the same number of channels as the data written.

    Once you have the boolean array, you can resize it using array tools. For example you can use "reshape array" with a lenght of 12 to trim the array to 12 booleans elements (you can also use array subset).

    values in an array are "assigned" by building an array (using BuildArray) or by replacing values in an existing array (ReplaceArraySubset)!

  • How can I have multiple inputs into the selector terminal of a case structure

    Hi everyone
    I have a question on how to wire multiple inputs in to the selector terminal of a case structure. 
    Currently, I have three switches, each switch determines different case. So if I switch the switch 1 is on, the numeric indicator will show 1. If the switch 2 is on, the numeric indicator will show 2, so on and so forth. However, the selector terminal will not allow me to wire multiply inputs into the case structure, I tried Bundle by Name, Bundle and Array to Cluster, but they did not work. I set the case structure with 3 cases, they are 1, 2 and 3.
    Could someone help me please. I have attach an image and the VI of the work I did so far.
    I have another question, is there a function which can toggle other switches to off when there is a switch has been toggled on.

    Tommy, attached find a cheeseball way of doing this that has given me a LOT of mileage over the years.  IT lends itself nicely to a couple of really good practices that NI recommend, but I have given you the bare-bones to "see under the hood".  
    The recommended practices:
    1. You can make this a nice tight sub-vi where you can put it into a core library of routines that you'll use over the years, even extending the logic to look only for changes, etc.
    2.  If you are thinking about Front Panel design considerations, you'll want to use arrays of controls where possible, as that's a nice neat way of containerizing your switch for both the FP and Block Diagram.
