How to consider capacity constrain in ASCP unconstrain plan

Is it possible to feed available capacity (Resource & machine) to ASCP unconstrain plan, so that ASCP plan only for available capacity eventhough all the supply exist to fulfill all the demand. The constrain is, the business is not ready to move to constrain plan.
If not possible, what is the alternative solution being used across industry using unconstrain plan in ASCP.
Hoping for your expert advise.
Thanks,

Currently we have constrain in resource and machine capacity, we are using unconstrain plan. It would be gr8, if you provide more clarity how ASCP recommendation consider this fact and display exception for planner, as we are not able to simulate the plan for capacity changes.

  • How to consider substitute component under two-phase plan(MPS vs MRP).

We try to run two-phase plan: Production plan and Manufacture Plan in ASCP.
We hope our planner can review production plan result and modify system suggestion date or qty for assemble component plan order.
Then we run Manufacture plan setting demand source is from production plan and "use substitute component" is checked in decision rule, we hope this Manufacture plan can consider substitute component.
But the Manufacture plan didn't consider substiute component.
How to make Manufacture plan consider substiute component when we set demand source is from production plan .

    Stacey,
I understand your requirement. I also believe that the manufacturing plan should be able to plan substitute components, but it would take quite a bit of analysis to understand why it was not working correctly. If you want to pursue that approach, I would recommend you start a SR with oracle support to troubleshoot.
The most typical approach with two plans is to have the production plan constrained and attempt to use available substitute components marked as critical. If that is the case, these "critical item" orders would not be replanned in the second plan. Your purchasing planner would not be able to firm planned orders in the second manufacturing plan, but could only update dates and release from that plan. At best case, any changes would be overwritten entered by the purchaing planner for items controlled in the production plan would be overwritten in the next cycle.
The best use of a two plan approach is to simplify constrained planning efforts by have a second unconstrained plans for most items and a smaller constrained plan driving the process. That is not your intent, so you might want to stay with one plan. You will always have some lag in these planners actions in a two plan process, so I don't know if this approach is driving any real benefit for you from a one plan approach. In either approach you will have planners stepping on each other and having to review exceptions, or better yet... talk to each other to review plans.
    So...
    1. If your intent is to limit the complexity of the constrained plan, the two plan approach has benefits
    2. If point # 1 is not your intent, and you are focused on allowing planners to react faster and communicate with each other as they plan their schedules, stay with a one plan approach.
    You said
"Our planner will release the plan orders which suggest start date is inside two weeks. But when they review the result and release the plan order , purchase planner review the same plan and issue purchase request in the same time. It will happen some problem, purchase planner will obey system's purchase suggestion but can't meet the demand of those plan orders that production planner has released."
An assembly planner should not be releasing orders within two weeks when the materials are unavailable. That should not happen with a constrained plan unless they created an override the system recommendations. With unconstrained plans, the best you can do is implement a time fence control to prevent this and review exceptions.
I think the best you can do here is implement this process as constrained with substitutes considered for the Assembly planner. Then usining one plan, have the purchasing planner implement their orders based on the latest information. They should use safety stock planning techniques and be looking at a lonegr horizon for demands. They should also communicate these plans to each otherKevin

  • Supplier Processing Lead Time with ASCP Unconstrained Plan

    Hi All,
Is it possible for unconstrained plan to consider supplier lead time constrained which we define in ASL?
I have defined an Unconstrained Plan & the plan is not considering Item Level , ASL Lead times & generating the planned Orders to meet demand due dates by compressing the Lead time.
Constraint option is not checked in plan options.
Appreciate your advise on this issue.
    Regards,
    Pranay Saxena

    Hi Pranay,
An unconstrained plan cannot have ANY constraint.
So it is not possible to have just the supplier lead time as constrained.
Alternatively, if that is what is your requirement, you may run a constrained EDD plan with just the material constraints enabled and the "Enforce Purchasing Lead Time" Flag checked.
If the supplier capacity is NOT set.. it will be treated like infinite..
This way you will force the engine to respect the lead times from ASL and acheive a near unconstrained plan.
Another alternative is use constrained plan as explained above and set the profile MSO: Lead Time Control to Do not Violate Minimum processing LT... in this case even the processing LTs for the MAKE items are also respected.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to consider production capacity plan on sales order's delivery date.

    HI experts,
How to consider production capacity  on sales order's delivery date.
    Say for example :
Production workcenter capacity to produce the XYZ material 10qty in a Day.
today i have created the sales order XYZ materail qty of 100. lead days has give based of MMR 21 days 17-07-2010( 3 sundays)
and in same day i have created other sales order XYZ material qty 5000 ,the lead days again it will came 17-07-2010.
Now my client requiremnt is when the schedule days is confirming in the sale order it sholud also consider the production capacity planning also
Even though my work centers are overloaded it is confirming the sales order on 17-07-2010 (based on leads days in MMR)
    Thanks in Advance..
    Sudha

    Sudha,
Tell your client he needs to install SCM.  Here, you can use either CTP or MLATP to confirm orders based on production capacity.
There are a couple of standard workarounds available in R/3.
One is to create a constrained forecast for planning materials, consistant with capacity, convert the forecast to PIRs, and then perform ATP against 'Planning' rather than against product, using MRP Strategy 63.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/a2/4e799a927d11d1800f00c04fadcb73/frameset.htm
Another method is to leave the Sales orders unconfirmed at original order entry (eg, no lead time).  Run MRP, run capacity levelling, firm the levelled planned orders, and then run BOP (called 'rescheduling' in R/3) against the unconfirmed backlog, with an ATP that considers firmed planned orders as supply elements.  The sales orders will confirm against the planned orders, which are scheduled according to available capacity.
Either of these two methods will work, but the CTP SCM solution is by far the better answer.  Downside of SCM solution in general is the substantial implementation effort required.

  • How to do capacity levelling

    Dear Frndz,
Pls help me how to do capacity levelling.....
    Scenario:
I have created two production orders for the same finish date as a result the work center is overloaded. Now I want to do capacity levelling.Tell me the step by step procedure to do capacity levelling, so that the capacity problem is solved.
    Regards,
    Srini.

    HI,
    Capacity leveling after order creation
This process covers capacity leveling of requirements from the production process, monitoring the capacity after different periods, and how the system determines the new values for the current order after changes are made to the quantities, times, and dates.
    1) T Code CM21
    2) Enter the field Plant & work Center
    3) Choose Enter.
The current orders whose operations result in capacity loads at the selected work center are displayed. By scrolling through the different charts in the planning table, you can analyze the information provided.
4)For a better view, choose Settings ® Scale ® Monthly period split.
    5) To automatically dispatch one or several operations of an order, click the red rectangle in the order's diagram section to select the order and choose .
The order disappears from the order pool and reserves a time segment in the work center section.
    6) To manually dispatch one or more operations of an order, select the order in the diagram section, drag it to the work center section with the mouse, and place it in a time period that you select.
    7) To deallocate an order, select it in the work center's diagram section and choose .
The order is again displayed in the order pool.
    8) To analyze the changes made in scheduling, select an order in the order's diagram section and choose Order.
    9) Choose Item and write down the start and finish dates of the operation you selected.
    10) Choose Enter until the Planning Table: SAPSFCG001 Finite Scheduling Forw./All Functs.Active screen appears.
    11) Drag the order to a valid section in the work center's diagram section. Make sure that you move the order to a valid and defined start and finish date.
    13) Select the order in the work center's diagram section and choose Order.
    14) Choose Item and compare the new start and finish date.
    15) Choose Enter until the overview tree appears.

  • Multiresource Scheduling within Unconstrained Plan

    Hello,
We are 12.0.6 hybrid manufacturing (Discrete and OSFM) using Unconstrained Plan.
When scheduling planned order for Make items the system calculates the Order Date according to the following formula:
Due Date-Fixed Lead Time-(Variable Lead Time*Planned Order Qty)-PreProcessing Lead Time.
    Assuming Planned Order:
    - for 10 units
    - lead time 30 days (5 fixed+25 variable)
    - order date calculation = 5+25*10
This is under an assumption that there is one resource performing that job.
    We have multiple resource!
According to ASCP Documentation, chapter 6-105, "Multiresource Scheduling" the system has to schedule the planned orders simultaneously. This feature is contolled by 'Round Order Quantities" attribute at item level.
In our tests, I'm using item with this attribute as Checked.
Unfortunately, the system still schedule the planned orders in sequence, one by one. By that, Planned Order Date is moved beyond the items lead time.
What is the way to set the multiple resource working within Unconstrained Plan.
Taking into account multiple resource should shorten Order Date calculation.
    I will appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Max.

    Dear Max
Have you defined the resources , attached routing to the item etc?. Not sure without that definition how will system know that you have x number of multiple resources..
    Thnx

I guess you must have overlooked the rules of engagement for this forum. It is customary for questioners to first perform basic research before posting any questions.
First, search in the forums (search box in the upper right of this page). FYI The question you raised has been covered dozens of times.
Next, check online help. This help is generic, and not generally specific to a particular industry:

Next search in one of the standard online search engines (such as Google).
Only after you have performed all of these tasks, and studied all of the online help that is supplied for free by SAP, should you then consider posting a question to these forums.
If you are unwilling or unable to perform such research, then you should probably engage a consultant to assist you. All consultants use searches to assist them in designing and executing solutions. If you intend to one day become a consultant, you would be wise to cultivate this skill.

  • How do I get off a family share plan if I'm not the account owner?

how do I get off a family share plan if i'm not the account owner?

kydd33  Good question!  If you are looking to be removed from the family share plan, then the account owner would need to give you  (or the person looking to take over your line ) permission. This is known as an Assumption of Liability (AOL). I am assuming that you want to keep your Verizon phone number and are looking to remain a Verizon Wireless customer. If so, the age requirement is atleast 18. Also, the current account has to have a current balance. If another VZW customer is taking your line over then their account would need to have a current balance, as well.  To proceed, have the account owner call customer service and authorize that you can remove your line from their account. There is not a penalty or fee for the account owner.

  • How many tasks can you have in a plan?

How many tasks can you have in a plan?
What is the maximum number of tasks I can reasonably expect to have in a newScale service (version 2007)?
I have approximately 30 tasks in my service.  When the authorizations are complete, and the tasks are initially scheduled, my server response time (between clicking Approve and seeing the next screen) is about 30 seconds.
Does this sound unusual?  Am I trying to do too much with my service?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,
There is no "upper limit" on the number of tasks that you can have in a plan. Having said that, the complexity of a plan -- including conditions and the use of external tasks -- can certainly be a factor in response times.
Having said this, 30 seconds seems like a long time and I strongly suggest that you open a case with customer care on this item.
We have alerted them to be looking for a case from you.

The only way it allows me to click "next" is if I choose the $100.00 plan. The email that was sent to me says that I should upgrade or reduce storage because my plan will be reduce to 5GB as of September 30, 2013. Please advise.

Try Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Change Storag Plan.  If you are a former MobileMe user you should see Purchase Current Plan listed between the 20GB and 50GB options.
