How to control space around an image?

I have an image, in a paragraph. I used left for the
alignment choice. I want the rest of the paragraph to line up and
not wrap under the image. I know you can use V space to control how
much space there is around it vertically, but I only want to
control the space nothing touches it below the image, not also on
top. In other words, if I do vspace 10, it moves it down 10. I want
it to be at the top of the paragraph but all lines of the paragraph
to line up, sort of like a bulleted list.
Say X is the image. I want it to be like:
X text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
See what i mean? If I do vspace, the x image moves down, I
don't want that. But I don't want the third line of text wrapping
under the image.
Im sure there is an easy way to do this but i dont know what
it is!
Thank you in advance!
Laura

CSS will do this for you -
img.special { float:left; margin-bottom:65px; }
<img class="special"...
Of course, if the visitor resizes the text so that it spills
beyond the 65px
mark (an arbitrary number), then it will begin to wrap under
the image
again.

  • How can I scroll around an image if its zoomed out?

Hey guys, quick one for you.
I have no problem using the hand tool/spacebar to scroll around an image when zoomed into it, but as soon as I can see the whole thing I can't scroll around anymore and its just locked to the center
I am a After Effects user so I find this a bit annoying that I can't do this, so I figure there MUST be a setting somewhere I could change to enable it.
    Thanks!

Sorry but "How can I scroll around an image if its zoomed out?" has got to be one of the stupidest question I've heard on this forum in some time. Brandon really needs to think before posting.
I've noticed your usual vitriol toward people having simple questions has ramped up about 200% since the advent of Jive, Buko. Maybe you need to disengage, or neck some holy fermented blue agave juice and take a nap?
I see the question as perfectly cromulent, and I use the suggestion I've given quite often. Apparently, a good reason why anyone would want to do that has escaped you, and it's made you even crankier than usual. So you react by giving the gift of vile condescension instead of just ShuttingTFU and letting someone else handle it. (Next time you blast Ramon for the same thing, take a look at your own behavior). And apparently, it's not enough for you to just accept that the way someone else wants to work is different than your workdflow, or is something that never even occurred to you. Maybe some folks just want an answer to their question, and secretly wish you'd shove your bad attitude up your [asterisk-substituted name for your lower-dorsal body opening]. Of course, some folks are just too polite, or they're new visitors here and won't say that to you because they don't know the legacy players and behaviors here. But I'm not either of those things, and I will. Because if you can dish it out, surely you can take it, right? RIGHT!?!?
Now...why do I think the question is worth answering? Sometimes I want to be able to have an entire smallish image visible at 100% magnification in order to view it as it will appear in its final destination. AND I want to do some work on it while keeping all my currently-open Palettes visible; maybe I want to move my image out of the way of a big dialogue box I've called up. (I'm only working on one monitor...sorry if that makes your hardened jaw drop down to your chest).
In Single-Window made mode I'd have to grab and move the whole window, but I can't do that if I have a big dialogue window open. In full screen mode I can scroll around and see all parts of that image at 100% without having to Tab my palettes to their hidden state, or shove my open dialogue nearly off-screen.
Think past your own nose, Dude! And LightenTFUp!

  • What's the point of the grey space around an image?

I understand the point of the grey space around an image when viewing in 'Fit' mode, because the image may or may not fill up the viewing space depending upon its aspect ratio...
But when you zoom in to 1:1 mode, and you scroll around your picture, why is there still this large amount of grey space around your image? If I scroll to the end of my image, it should just stop scrolling, not scroll over the end of my image into this vast amount of unusable and unnecessary grey space!
It's just annoying that every time I happen to be scrolling around fast, I scroll over the edges of my image into this vast grey space & I just can't fathom the reason for its existence.
For a better picture of what I'm talking about, see here:

Actually, it makes perfect sense to scroll in this fashion. It means that every part of the image can occupy the sweet centre spot of your monitor, even with all the panels open.
Try it. Even that important corner area of the image can be centred on your monitor. Particularly important when performing some spotting along the edges.

  • Spry Image Slideshow w/Filmstrip - Eliminating space around SS images?

    Hello,
I can not locate the file/setting to eliminate all the space around the Slideshow images?  In Design/Code view, the SS appears nicely positioned in the table, however when I publish the page, I've got a ton of wasted space below the SS?
How do I get the lower half of my page closer to the bottom of the SS?
    Thanks in advance!

Update:  I was able to eliminate space below the SS by deleting the entire table and starting over.

  • How to control the visibility of image items on a layer?

I want to control the visibility of image items on the layer. Some items will be visible and others will be hidden on the same layer.
Can anyone tell me how can I achieve this using SDK APIs.

    Hi,
You can try following facade function. And set the Opacity value to 0 for hidden the images or set greater then 0 value for visiablity of image.
    IXPAttributeFacade::SetOpacity (const UIDList &itemList, PMReal opacity);
I hope it will resolve your problem.

  • Space around nested images in Div Tag

How do you add space in between three images nested next to each other in a #LayoutDiv tag in DW CS6.  I'm working in Fluid grids with percentages.  Thanks,

If you are adding a margin as I show above and it's not showing up in your page, you may have something zeroing out the margin later in the stylesheet, or in another stylesheet referenced after the sheet you are adding the rule to.
You cantry embedding the css into the <head> of a page to see if that's the case.

  • Contact Sheet X v2.1 - how to increase space between caption & images?

Contact Sheet X v2.1 has been working very well. But I can't find a way to increase the spacing between the captions and the images. They're practically touching. From time to time I need to move elements of the proof sheet. The dialog box for Contact Sheet X v2.1 doesn't appear to have anything to control the distance between caption and image. Does anyone have a solution? Using Photoshop CC, Mac OSX 10.9.5. Thank you.

Somehow setting width="400" did not change anything. I also tried:
    mx|ColumnChart { columnWidthRatio: 0.8; width: 1000; columnWidth: 1000; }
    to no avail.
Anyhow, I've reduced my columnWidthRatio to 0.8 though as you suggested. It looks better, but I'd still like some more space between the columns.
    Thanks!

  • Ho do I wrap text around an image?

    Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to wrap text around an image so that it follows the outline of the image. The E.O. Wilson book has an example, but I have seen it in other books, too. I am using images that have their background taken away with Instant Alpha, but the wrap doesn't work reliably. I wonder if it is a setting I am missing or if Instant Alpha is just unreliable.
    Here is what I do:
I drag the photo into a standard page in the chapter (not a chapter or section start page).
    I then apply Instant Alpha.
The background disappears, but the text doesn't flow into the spaces.
My settings in the Inspector's Object Placement tab is as follows:
    Anchored
Object causes wrap (second icon from left)
    Text Fit (right icon)
    Extra Space 16pt
    Alpha 50%
No text flow. What sometimes works is if I apply a mask to the picture and then make it big enough to reveal the whole picture. Suddenly text flows into the space around the picture. But that is also not a reliable solution. It works sometimes, but not others.
My workaround right now is to create a shape with the pen tool that traces the image. Text flows around this shape just fine. I then place that shape where I want the image and turn off Object Causes Wrap on the image. I then group the shape with the image to make moving them easier. That is a huge effort, and I am sure there is something I am doing wrong.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Fiver

  • White space around graphic

Is there any way to get rid of the white space around an image. A lasso?

Do you mean the wide gutter? The default for all graphics inserted or dragged & dropped into a Pages document is 12 points. You can use the wrap inspector to either turn off the wrap or decrease the gutter?
If you want to make the background transparent, take a look at a recent thread starting here.

  • Adding spaces around components

I have a problem but I don't know what keywords to type into the search box, sorry if it was posted before.
i want to add some space around each of my javax.swing.border.Box because without spaces, the GUI looks very cramped. My GUI is current a Y_AXIS Box, inside there are 4 X_AXIS Box. Please lend me some help on how to create spaces around the Box.
    Thanks a lot, appreciate.

To add space to any component regardless of the layout manager you are using you can use component.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder())

  • How to control the size of SVG images in epub files?

There is unfortunately no support for SVG files in InDesign.
Most of my images in jpg convertes nicely, but the small ones do not.
Therefore I want to use SVG files which I have created in Illustrator.
But how do I set the size in the epub file? Right now, whatever I do, they come out too big and I don't know how to control the size.
Is there a program, like Sigil or other, that can place the image for me - I'm no html wizard you see....

In any Java program, it is good practice to make sure your live objects leave some room in the heap for "scratch space." Without this, you will spend too much time in GC, and, in the worst cases, run out of memory. In the general case, you can see how much live data your application requires by looking at the heap used after a full GC's. For Coherence, you should ensure that live data, as you say, is under 70% of the maximum heap size.
Coherence provides you tools to help enforce this policy. [http://coherence.oracle.com/display/COH35UG/local-scheme] describes how to size limit your cache. By implementing an eviction policy, you can control what happens when a size limit is exceeded.

  • White space around image when doing Save for Web

Say I draw a simple square in Illustrator CS6 then export it to a PNG using Save for Web. The preview shows 1px thick of white space on the right side. Sometimes it's on 2 sides or more.
No other hidden elements are around the image. Clip to artboard in not clicked.
Why does this happen and how do we get rid of it?

For once I get to answer a post and say somehting good about align to pixel grid.
    Turn it on
Your image will now align to the pixel grid
Turn it off when not doing web work, or will drive you mad.
