How to controle a web session timeout?

  • How to increase the web session time out for FDM While data uploading.

    I have very large data files of Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss. These are taking very long time while being loaded through FDM. Kindly let me know of the following:
    1 - How can I increase the time for "web session time out" in FDM; and
    2 - What is the standard data loading time, e.g. how much time should it ideally take for approximately 1,000 lines to be load in Hyperion.

    You supposedly feed it a (undocumented) parameter, -rxidletimeout, with the time in seconds, at startup.
    app.serverSettings.sessionTimeout will report back whatever value you fed it. However, in my experience so far, the timeout is somewhere around 30 seconds no matter what value you feed it. I might be doing something wrong.
    I currently have a ticket open with Adobe support about this very issue, but it's slow going. I'll try to update you with whatever I find out.
    I'd love to hear whether anyone else has this working.

  • How do make inactive RFC sessions timeout after user logged off?

    Hi,
    In SM04 we can see many sessions of type RFC belonging to users who already logged off. These sessions seem to stay allive for hours if not days.
    Exapmle:
    700  HAMILTONAN                                09.45.35    1  RFC                     8
    700  CHUAE                                     04.08.10    1  RFC                    50
    700  LIMMA                                     02.18.12    1  RFC                    45
    The standard icm timeout settings are set and works fine, but for some reason these assosiated RFC sessions seem to stay logged on.
    Is there any parameter maybe or any other solution anyone is aware of to make these sessions log off if inactive?

    Hi,
    Its basis activity but still ,
    Have a look at this parameter <i><b>rdisp/keepalive_timeout</b></i> it should be set to some seconds, after which if user stays idle system will force fully logged them off...
    How to Change : RZ11 -> put the parameter name -> Change ...
    Hope that helps.

  • How to check for Web Srvice Timeout in ABAP Proxy call

    I am calling a web service in my ABAP program using ABAP proxy. The code is as under:

    2. Is it possible to check for the time spent in the  call if it is more then say 500 sec then it should be considered as timeout?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Subbu,
    you can catch CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT.
      DATA:   lo_sys_exception  TYPE REF TO cx_ai_system_fault,
    l_error_text type string.
    CALL METHOD ...
    CATCH cx_ai_system_fault INTO lo_sys_exception.
    l_error_text = lo_sys_exception->errortext.
    You can configure XI timeout parameter (for shure in SMICM / Parameter and, if i remeber right, as profile parameter in XI administration).

  • Excel web part and choice filter web part session timeout

    Hi,
    I have set up a excel web part and choice filter web part so I can change the parameters for the excel with the choice filter. I used this link: office.microsoft.com/en-001/sharepoint-server-help/connect-filter-web-parts-to-excel-web-access-HA010105470.aspx
    The problem that I have, is that each time I select a parameter through the choice filter web part, I get a session timeout:
    How can I prevent the session timeouts? I allready checked the Trusted File Location in the central admin (the location where the Excel is uploaded is not mentioned specifically, but the main domain is, so I guess all domains that built upon the
    main domain are also trusted locations?)

    Hi vjo,
    Please try to increase the Short Session Timeout in the trusted file location, compare the result.
    If this issue still exists, please check the ULS log to find whether there is something about this issue.
    The path of the log file is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.
    Thanks,

  • How to deal with session timeouts?

    How to deal with session timeouts?
    With our current configuration of using single signon, when the web session times out (currently 20 minutes of inactivity), the user loses anything they have entered on a service form.  The use case is that a user starts filling out a form and gets interrupted, goes to lunch, etc, returns and spends time filling out the form (in the mean time the web session has timed out).  When they try to submit the service they get re-logged in through SSO and they have lost all of their entries in the service.   This creates some very unhappy users.
    I'd like to know how long other customers set their web session timeouts to and if anyone has come up with ways of handling this situation - either through somehow re-establishing the session or through warnings to the user about how long they have to complete a form.

    Hi,
    The timeout period for HTTP sessions that are created in the corresponding Web application. After being inactive for the specified timeout, the HTTP sessions expire. The period is specified in minutes:
    <!ELEMENT session-timeout (#PCDATA)>
    You can only change the session timeout property in the applicationu2019s own deployment descriptors. This is not possible for the Global Web Descriptor.
    following may help you:

  • How to configure a session timeout for DynPro applications?

    Hello,
    1. Where can I configure the session timeout of the DynPro applications?
    2. Can I configure a session timeout per application and how do I do that?

    Hello Heidi,
    I am not familiar with this property:
    1. Where can I configure it?
    2. Does it apply to every application at the portal?
    3. What if I would like to configure just one application?
    By the way, I have noticed that the DynPro application has an expirationTime property. The documentation says this:
    Specifies the lifetime in seconds of a Web application on the server before the Web application is terminated by the server. The value of the DefaultExpirationTime parameter of the system configuration is used as the default value.
    My question is if someone tried to use this property?

  • Iplanet 4.1 - How to set session timeout for a specific application

    Hi everyone,
    I have a Iplanet 4.1 old web instance running on Solaris 8. We are using this web instance to connect to few application instances running on Websphere 3.5. We have upgraded most of our web/app to higher version except this.
    One of the websphere applications need more session timeout. (Which I fuguredout not possible to do on Websphere).
    How do I achieve this on Iplanet 4.1.
    NOTE: I referred to Iplanet 6.x where we can achieve this by updating web-app.xml timeOut value per URI. I do not find web-app.xml under v4.1
    Thanks in advance,

    Sorry to say that we can't help here. WS4.1 is obsolete a long time ago.
    As you mentioned that you should use WS6.1SPx or WS7.0 for your production and get support.

    I have a problem in my portal development.

    Hi,
        the http session invalidation must be checked at application level  do it DYNPAGE only .you can call the following method.
    public void expireSession(IPortalComponentRequest request)
              long lastAccessedTime=request.getServletRequest().getSession().getLastAccessedTime();
              Date currentDate = new Date();
              Calendar currentDateCal = new GregorianCalendar();
              currentDateCal.setTime(currentDate);
              long systemTime = currentDateCal.getTimeInMillis();
              long sessionExpiryTime = systemTime - lastAccessedTime;
              long sessionExpiryTimeProp = 600000; //dont hard code.get from property file
              if(sessionExpiryTime >= sessionExpiryTimeProp)
                   try

  • SharePoint 2010 / 2013 web browser session timeout

    1) What settings govern how long a user is authenticated in SharePoint before they need to enter their credentials again in the browser ?
    2) How to check what these default session timeouts are and how to change them ?
    Thanks,
    Mario

    Thanks Inderjeet and Lakshmanan for the links.
    I did some more research, and here are my findings regarding SharePoint authentication cookies:  (We are using claims with Windows NTLM authentication in SharePoint 2010)
    Per the white paper at
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/F/6/9F69FEBA-614B-483F-9CF2-60225D75E81E/persistent-cookies-whitepaper.docx : "SharePoint sites create persistent cookies with a default time-out value of 10 hours for sites that use Windows claims or forms-based
    authentication claims"
    I verified this by running the following PowerShell command:
    Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig | select WindowsTokenLifetime
    which returned 10:00:00 (i.e. 10 hours) and matches the default cookie timeout in the white paper.
    However, in my testing, I found that once I logged in, I was able to access the site without re-entering my credentials even after 10 hours, so I'm not sure what exactly controls the session timeout.
    Also, the white paper mentions that by default SharePoint uses persistent authentication cookies that are saved to disk. However, even after deleting all cookies from my browser, I am still able to access the site without entering credentials. (I only need
    to re-enter credentials once I close the browser and reopen the SharePoint site in the browser again) . The only cookies I see are related to '/_vti_bin/Discovery.asmx' and I don't think that these are the authentication cookies.
    To summarize - my test results were not consistent with the default timeout of 10 hours, and I was unable to find the SharePoint authentication cookie. Interested to hear if anyone has any thoughts on this.
    Thanks,
    Mario

  • How to Sync the session timeout of Portal with CMS Server

    Hi Experts,

    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$OCAFramework: Unable to reconnect to the CMS server_ip:6400. The session has been logged off or has expired. (FWM 01002)
    Portal is configured with SSO. Please adviese how to set the settings of session timeout in such way that Portal sync  session timeout with CMS server.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chinaa.

    Hi ,
    There is no such option to sync Portal timout with CMS server.
    To resolve your problem you have only option to set your CMS server timout to MAX value.

  • How to set session timeout per user

    Hi,
    Ho do I set the session timeout per User in the
    Application.cfm File??
    I tried using
    <cfif SESSION.UID EQ 1>
    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="appControl" SESSIONMANAGEMENT="Yes"
    sessiontimeout="#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,20,0)#">
    </cfelse>
    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="appControl" SESSIONMANAGEMENT="Yes"
    sessiontimeout="#CreateTimeSpan(1,0,0,0)#">
    </cfif>
    But this didnt work because the cfapplication seems to have
    to be at the top before I call the variable SESSION.UID which
    I set on my login page..
    Someone know how to do this??
    Regards
    Martin

    Martin,
    Your code example cannot work because the "session" scope
    doesn't exist until your application scope is defined. So you have
    to handle this manually. Here's how you can get it done. First,
    define your application to the maximum sessiontimeout you want to
    have.
    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="appControl" SESSIONMANAGEMENT="Yes"
    SESSIONTIMEOUT="#CreateTimeSpan(1,0,0,0)#">
    Then, I don't know how you are doing your login
    authentication but when you have authenticated the user, you need
    to define the userid and the most recent activity in the session.
    Also determine your timeout value based on the userid. See example:
    <CFIF IS_AUTHENTICATED>
    <CFSET session.user.uid = form.userid>
    <CFSET session.user.most_recent_activity = now()>
    <CFIF session.user.id eq 1>
    <CFSET session.user.timeout_mins = 20>
    <CFELSE>
    <CFSET session.user.timeout_mins = 1440>
    </CFIF>
    </CFIF>
    Now, all you have to do is check whether the user has been
    idle for too long and kill the session by purging all session
    variables. For example:
    <!--- if user id is defined, this means user is logged in
    --->
    <CFIF structKeyExists(session, "user") and
    structKeyExists(session.user, "id")>
    <!--- check if timeout has expired --->
    <CFIF datediff("n", session.user.most_recent_activity,
    now()) gt session.user.timeout_mins>
    <!--- timeout has expired, kill the session and log the
    user out --->
    <CFSET StructClear(session)>
    <!--- insert your logout code here --->
    <CFELSE>
    <!--- user hasn't timed out, so reset the most recent
    activity to now --->
    <CFSET session.user.most_recent_activity = now()>
    </CFIF>
    </CFIF>

  • How to check and change the dafault session timeout of the Portal?

    Hello,
    When leaving a portal page open without using it for a certain amount of time and then accessing it again the Session times-out.
    Where can I check and change this default time-out time in case I would like to extand it for the end users?
    Roy

    Hi Roy,
    Session timeout includes multiple settings (J2EE setting and SSO setting at User Management).
    Defining the Timeout in J2EE Session
           1.      Open file web.xml (path depends on the version of EP6.0. If it is based on NW04, then
    ..\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF
           2.      Enter a value in minutes under <session-timeout>. The value should roughly correspond to the length of a synchronization cycle. The default is 30 minutes.
    After a successful login, it receives a SSO ticket which is valid for longer duration (generally 8 hrs, default which you can changed using  "System Admin" as mentioned by Yoel.
    Thanks,
    Swapan
