How to data log graphs using front panel data logging?

Hello I have a VI that collects data from DAQmx thermocouple readings and graphs the temperature vs time using a while loop to collect data and graph. I have 9 control operators that define the correction factor of the thermocouples.
I want to create a datalogging using the option under Operations>Data Logging
When I retrieve the data the only information that is present are the control operators correction factors that I defined. The graphed data that was created is not retrieved.
Is there a solution to show the graphed data plots that were created on the front panel? They remain unchanged from the last run of the VI or blank if I open the VI without having ran the program.
Thank you.

This is expected for the Data Logging in LabVIEW. If you want to record the signla data, use the Write to Measurement File Express VI.  Here's a link with a walk-through:
http://www.ni.com/academic/students/learn-daq/data-logging/
The Data Logging from the Operate Menu is for recording front panel control(s), as you have observed.

  • How can i edit graphs on front panel?

    Hello!
    My problem is the following:
I need a front panel, where i can edit the graph. It doesn't need to be very complicatted. It means, there is 5 steps. For example: It will control a thermal chamber, and it should give 25 celsius for 2 hours, then cool down until 2 hours to -40 celsius, 4 hours on -40, then back to 25 celsius until 2 hours, stay there for 2 hours, up to 105 celsius until 2 hours, 4 hours on 105 , 2 hours down to room constant, stay 2 hours there. But i need to be control the levels. The temperature levels, and the time periods. It's nessesery to control this on front panel. I've found a vi , which is reading in *.lvm files with datas x,y and then it's interpolating. But it is not setable after setting.
Please help me. Thank You very much!

If you want to specify the profile graphically then you can use cursors to do it. An old example can be found here. You may find others by doing your own search (hint, hint).
Otherwise, you can simply use a multicolumn listbox to specify the indvidual profile segments, and a graph can be used to display the entered profile whenever the listbox changes.

  • Create OPC I/O server and front panel data socket problem

    Hi all!
I installed the NI OPC server. When I try to create a new server I/O in a LabVIEW project I don't see the "OPC client" possibility.
    Is something software missing?
Other question: I tryed to connect to OPC server using front panel data socket but my problem is same. When I click the numeric control and I go to the "data operation" menu there is no possibility to make data socket connection.
I don't know what is the problem.
I attached two pictures about my problem.
    Solved!

    Dear vajasgeri1,
do you have LabVIEW DSC module installed? Without it you will not have the OPC client funtionality.
And to configure DataSocket binding you need to go to the Data Binding tab in the Properties of a control.

  • I want to publish my data using datasocket connection on the net and I want to use Front panel binding. Can I?

I want to publish my data on the net.
I want to use front panel binding and I do not want
to write the code. Can I do that. What should I modify
in my datasocket server manager. The other question is, When I open my VI, I want to open automatically my DataSocket Server. My english is bad. When I open the LabView I also want to open my DataSocket server. How can I do this?

To use datasockets to publish data to be accessed via the web, see the following document.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/F58A6C2DAAADECB68625672400636145?OpenDocument
This document explains how you can create an interactive Web page with which users can view data from a remote acquisition application without the common problems of a client-server application. You use the Measurement Studio DataSocket control and Microsoft Visual Basic to create a software component that you can insert in a Web page. You then use that Web page to read, write, or share data with other applications across the Internet.
If you want to publish data but do not want to write any code, you should consider the web publishing tool available in Labview 6.1. This tool allows
you to create a webpage to be published from the the LabVIEW webserver on your machine. See the following link for more information on ways to easily publish to the web from LabVIEW.
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/E4E311FA046EE24586256B1F0074F39D?opendocument
As for starting the datasocket server when you run your VI, you can use the 'System Exec' VI to run the application. The exe to start the server is located in the following directory:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\DataSocket\cwdss.exe
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Chnaging input in a waveform graph from front panel in labview

    Hi !
I am working with temperature sensors; I have several sensors to read simultaneously.
I want to plot information from different sensors in different plots and have the option to change/select  the sensors in the a graph from front panel. For example, I have 8 sensors(please see the attachments_ front panel), A,B,C,D,E,F,G and M. Some time it could be possible that user want A,B,C in Tumor Graph or sometimes only A and B. That means the identity and the number of sensors could be changed in different times.
Now I connect only two sensors per graph (ref: block diagram) but the number and the sensors to be plotted in a certain graph can be changed, so How can I implement it ?
Any help or idea will be appreciated.

    Hi hasanma,
Well, you could expend the build array and add more inputs to it as shown below:
And individually select which sensor data the user wants to view as shown below:

  • How can I save an EXE front panel image to a file?

The methods to save a VI front panel image to a file don't work on executable applications. How can I save an EXE front panel image to a file? (LabVIEW 6.1)

    Hi,
i wrote some vi that save FP to image and created exe and it works fine. How do you save FP to image in VI?
If you use VI server method "Get Panel Image" and use "Write JPG file" ( or BPM) it works fine.

  • Can't scan using front panel of HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I can't scan using front panel or laptop.  I can't find the set up disc that came with the printer that I purchased almost 2 years ago.

Hello @Pierre1 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having issues scanning. I'd like to help!
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • How do know which services use up my data on my tablet? 2:How can I avoid this?

How do know which services use up my data on my tablet? 2:How can I avoid this?

        @mwbail2,
Great question! Managing your data usage is definitely important. You can view what apps are using data by going to Settings and then Mobile data on your phone. There is will show you the apps using data.
If you want to avoid the data usage on the apps you want to make sure you close out the apps when not in use. You can also make sure that they are not automatically updating whenever there is a new update to the app. To do this simply go to the Play Store and select Menu. Then go to Settings and there you will see the option to change the auto update to update over wifi only.
If you want to complete turn off data, just go to Settings and then mobile network and turn it off. Keep me posted if you need further assistance.

  • Viewing the logged front panel data

I’m writing into the datalog file, I can see that the data is recording every one second, but when I retrieve the data i.e. viewing the logged front panel there is only one data since the range is from 0 to 0 ([0..0]). Does anyone know why? And how can I fix the problem?

You should Never rely on the abort button on the tool bar to stop a VI in a loop writing to a file. The abort stops everything immediately and you don't properly close the file. Instead of using a boolean contant in your loop to get you an endless loop, add a Stop button (a boolean switch) to your front panel. Wire that through an inverter to the Continue terminal of the loop, or (if you're using LabView 6.x) right-click on the Continue terminal and change to Stop if True, then wire the Stop button directly to the terminal. Then pass the file RefNum out of the loop to the Close File function.
For debugging purposes, I do use the Abort toolbar button, but I never create a VI with the Abort as the only means of stopping a VI. Anytime you want to st
op a VI in a loop, you may want to have some control over how it stops. There may be files to close, instruments to shut down, results to process, etc. Even if the VI is very basic or even temporary, just get in the habit of using a Stop button on your front panel rather than a boolean constant to get an endless loop. It's really not that much more work and it gives you control over your VI.

  • How to save settings in the front panel to different files and retrieve it later?

How to save the front-panel controllers' settings to different files and retrieve it later?
What I've archived is the "Save Settings" function, but when trying to "Reload Settings", I can only retrieve the saved data to front-panel indicators, but not the controllers!
Can anybody give me some advises?
    Thanks in advanced!

    Hi
Just write the retrieved data to a local variable (but make it writable first) or property node of the controls.
    Hope this helps.

  • Fix position of 3D graph in front panel

Hi I haev used 3D graphs in my VI but whenever I open my vi I see that the position of 3D graph has changed in my Front Panel  and it takes a lot of time to rearange everything again. It also change the position of the other things like pics or  Tab boxes. Is it something related to the resolution of the screen? and how can I fix it to not change because I want to use my laptop for a presentation and I would like to avoid this mess during demostrating my vi
    Many thanks

    Hi,
I don't know if it would help, but you can lock the psoition of front panel objects. Select the object and then select Reorder >> Lock from the toolbar:

  • How to synchronize presentation on the front panel to the start of a 75Hz monitor's retrace cycle?

How to synchronize front panel presentation with the start of a retrace cycle of a 75Hz Monitor, so when a bitmap is presented 100ms, its duration is indeed 100ms on the monitor?

    Hi,
In the old days (late 90's), we used in port and out port to wait for
vertical retraces (or even horizontal retraces).
I searched the web (vertical retrace), and there seem to be lots of
    infromation and tools, like
    http://www.compuphase.com/vretrace.htm
    It uses a simple routine:
mov dx, 3dah ; VGA input status register
    vretrace_loop:
    in al, dx
    test al, 8 ; bit 3 set?
jz vretrace_loop ; no, continue waiting
But to get it working, you need a VxD. Good news is you can download it.
The also suggest you use WaitForVerticalBlank(), but dx could be hard to get
    working under LabVIEW.
Please let us know how (and if) you got it working with LabVIEW!
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

  • How can I close a remote front panel by closing only the browser window?

I control a remote front panel in a browser (from the client PC). If I don't use the 'close' - button in my program to end the remote front panel, but instead of this the 'x' of the browser window (in the right bottom corner), my program won't be close, it continues on the server. Do you know how to end a VI by closing only the browser windows?
    Thanks for any help!
    wolfe

    I found the examples. Thanks.
But I could not find a solution yet. Now I know how to end a VI by clicking on the x of the VIwindow.
My problem is, to end a VI by clicking on the x of the BROWSER window after I loaded and controlled a remote panel VI in a browser (e.g. IE).
If you have any ideas ... I'd be happy.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Q:How to trim a VI's front panel at runtime?

The occupied front panel space can be obtained by calling
"GetPanelImage" via an invoke node. The resulting cluster "bounds"
describes the union of all front panel objects. The front panel can then
be resized to fit these bounds. The content of the front panel can be
repositioned by manipulating "FrontPanelWindow.Origin". This "...Origin"
points with an _unknown_ _offset_ (which varies with the FP´s layout) to
the upper left corner of the front panel content.
How to exactly calculate the origin from other front panel values?
    Thanks,
    TC

You can use a VI Server to position the front panel of your subVI. Look at the Ghost in the Machine.vi example that ships with LabView.
To see where to position the subVI, you need to know the position of the calling VI or of something on it. You could use a property node of the Get Details button.
    1. On the front panel on Panel.vi, right-click on Get Details and select Create >> Property Node
    2. Right-click on the Property Node and select Properties >> Position >> Left.
    3. Point to the bottom edge of the property node and pull it down to add another element. That element should default to Top.
That will give you the coordinates of the Get Details button. Now use a VI server (based on Ghost in the Machine.vi) to place the subVI front panel the desired distance
    from the Get Details button.
