How to debug form.js ?

I have this file (form.js) with some javascript functions invoked from mine UIX pages.
1) If I create a custom.js file, how can I make it available form my pages?
2) How can I step-by-step debug this file? Breakpoints are ignored there.
Thanks

Idevaldo,
When placing too many alerts in javascript, you might get annoyed with the number of times you have to click 'ok' to close a debug message. In form.js, we have the following code for writing debug messages:
var myDebugMode = true; /* default is false */
function myDebug(text)
if (debugMode)
debugMode = confirm(text);
Then, instead of doing: alert("helloWorld") we use: debug("helloWorld"). The advantage is that you get both an OK and a Cancel button for each debug message. OK will take you to the next debug message, but the CANCEL button will turn debugMode off for the remainder of the request. So if you have seen what you needed to see you wont have to click through another 100+ messages.
You can invoke this debug message from your own JS library as well. If this creates an unwanted dependency, you can implement this behaviour in your own JS file, but make sure you rename both the variable and the method name to avoid conflicts with our code.

  • Hi,  how to debug forms of script

    hi
could anybody tell me how to debug script forms.
i am using /h in se71, but it is not going inside form.
    pl guide me fast.
    thanx
    robo

    Hi Rocky,
Go through the following two ways
    SAP Script:
YOu Can debug a SAP Script by activating debugger in two ways 1.In SE71->Menu->Utilities->Activate Debugger, then debugger will be get activated and when your print program is executing Script Debugger will be in active and you can proceed with your debugging.
    2. Goto se38-> RSTXDBUG ->Execute this same as going thru in se71-> Menu, now debugger will be activated.
Smartform:I am afraid , we dont have any direct commands or direct procedure to debug a script. But in indirect ways we can do it.
1.Put a command line before where you want check the value of smartform and write the code "BREAK-POINT"->hardcoded debugging.
2.You can debug the function module which generates the smartform.

  • How to debug the smart forms

    Hi All,
Can any body guide me how to debug the smart forms.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Satish.

    Hi,
The the best way to debug the form is to put a breakpoint in the function module generated by the smartform.
    Procedure:
Open the smartform we want to debug.
Goto Environment -> Function module name.
Open the function module in SE37. From the menu GOTO -> main program. Open the last include.
This incude contains the entire code ie the code we have written in initalization + form routines + program lines + sap generated code.
Even we can search for the text nodes, folders, templates, tables, graphics, address nodes etc with their names.
Put a breakpoint at any point you want.
If we issue any doc which triggers this form, when the control reaches the break point it will stop.
Please note that hard-coding the break points in the code ( Program lines ) is not recommended and it can´t be done unless if it is development server.
So, always put a session break point in the related function module.
We can use SFTRACE transaction to know the sequence of the control flow.
If you want to break at each and every text that is printed on the output form put the break points in the forms.
    1. %write_text  to break at text element.
    2. %WRITE_TEXT_MODULE  to break at text module.
    3. %WRITE_INCLUDE_TEXT  to break at include text.
Please put a break point at the first sy-subrc check.
If the control reaches this point, you can find the name of the element in the varible NAME and the content in the text node in %TEXT.
Its easy to understand the sequence of the printing if we put a breakpoint as stated above.
    Regards,
    Satish.

  • How to make Form builder 10g step into libraries *.pll while remote debug

How to make Form builder 10g step into libraries *.pll while remote debug. It attaches fine and goes through code located in form but skips pll's. In this case I am interested in debuging CUSTOM.pll. How to step into pll's and is it possible at all?

Is the library in the same directory or within your FORMS_PATH? Note that the runtime setting in the default.env doesn't work for the builder.

  • How to debug a form module (Oracle 11G Forms) through URL

How to debug a form module (Oracle 11G Forms) through URL.
My server OS is Unix. So i could not able to do the Debug Forms from the Form Developer.
It is displaying a message that "Cannot find the module". Becuase the system is trying find out the module in Unix system instead of ma local system(Windows).
I need to debug ma module through URL.
I can place the fmb and fmx in predefined form path in Server.
Please help me out to solve this issue..

This is a little unclear. If your goal is to use the Forms Builder Debugger while running your form on a Unix machine, this can be done. However, the form must first be in running order. So before trying to attach the debugger you must first be able to start it without the debugger. For example:
    http://yourServer:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet?form=yourFMX
Once this is properly running you can turn on debugging. If your form won't even start, then using the Debugger isn't going to help you because it is designed to troubleshoot coding problems and not configuration problems.
So, do this to use the Debugger:
    http://yourServer:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet?form=yourFMX&debug=yes
This will display a dialog box with some information. Do not click on OK yet as you will need this information to enter into the Forms Builder. Now, open the Forms Builder and click on Debug > Attach Debug. You will be asked for the information displayed in the dialog where you attempted to start the form. Enter it here (in the Builder) then click on ok in both places. To display the Debugger (in the Builder), click on Debug > Debug Console. Then from its toolbar click on the buttons related to what you want to monitor. Including a break point in your application code is often a more helpful way to use the debugger.
Most of this information is explained in the Forms Builder Online Help
    Forgot to mention...
To debug runtime issues, refer to the Forms Deployment Guide here (this assumes you are using 11.1.2):

You can also set breakpoints in your code you want to debug. e.g. if you want to debug a specific trigger like WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED, then put BREAK; statement from where you want to start debugging.
You can also set breakpoint in the debugger itself by opening specific trigger and double clicking the line of code to start debugging.
For running in debug mode, press SHIFT+CTRL+R and then step into the code like FormsEleven explained.
    Hope it helps!

    Hi,
Your procedure of debugging is correct.
when you getting the error message , double click on the message on status bar and see wheather it is standard message or
    custome message.
you are getting that error because of invalid data  so get  the valid data from respective  Functional consultant
    and try to debug again.
You ll not get that error after giving valid data.

  • Designer beginner's question: How to populate form with XML web service output?

    sorry, here is yet another Adobe Designer beginners question: <br /><br />My form uses a webservice data connection which returns <br />an xml-string like this: <br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <br /><CurrentWeather> <br />  <Location>Sion, Switzerland (LSGS) 46-13N 007-20E 481M</Location> <br />  <Time>Apr 26, 2007 - 09:50 AM EDT / 2007.04.26 1350 UTC</Time> <br />  <Wind> from the WSW (240 degrees) at 15 MPH (13 KT):0</Wind> <br />  <Visibility> greater than 7 mile(s):0</Visibility> <br />  <SkyConditions> partly cloudy</SkyConditions> <br />  <Temperature> 80 F (27 C)</Temperature> <br />  <DewPoint> 46 F (8 C) </DewPoint> <br />  <RelativeHumidity> 30%</RelativeHumidity> <br />  <Pressure> 29.88 in. Hg (1012 hPa)</Pressure> <br />  <Status>Success</Status> <br /></CurrentWeather> <br /><br />What is the simplest and recommended way to extract the <br />element fields to my form? <br /><br />Thank you very much an kind regards, <br />Hans Grund

    The question is still unanswered!
Let me give some details and break up the problem
    in more specific questions:
    - In Designer 8.1 I click new data binding --> wsdl -->
    http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?wsdl
A message box comes up and says "cannot load wsdl file"
    ==> 1. Question:
Why maybe refuses Designer to load the http-wsdl,
although this option is explicitly allowed?
    - When I save the wsdl to a file, Designer loads it
without any problems. The web service uses two input parameters
(CountryName and CityName) and returns an xml-string GetWeatherResult)
like the one in my first posting. I drag these fields from the binding view to my form, and it runs ok!
    - THE PROBLEM IS, THAT I NEET TO EXTRACT THE ELEMENT FIELDS
    FROM THE RESULT XML-STRING!
    ==> 2. Question:
How to extract xml element fields from wsdl output into a form?
    - I tried with eclipse and XmlSpy to build a modified wsdl file
with structured output definition, so that the specific element fields
show up in the data binding view and are usable to my form,
and the modified wsdl maps consistently to the web service result string.
So far without success: In the PDF -preview or Reader-
when the wsdl-binding is executed and the web service output
should show up in the result fields, just nothing happens.
    ==> 3. Question:
Can this strategy to provide a "modified wsdl" possibly succeed,
    and how?
    ==> 4. Question:
Is is possible -and how?- to check whether an xml string
is valid as web service output against the wsdl-definition?
    ==> 5. Question:
How to debug a web service connection with Designer?
    - Finally I tried to find a way to load the result xml-string
into a local var in the script editor and parse it, much like:
    var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM");
    xmlDoc.load(DataSet.MyForm.GetWeatherResult.rawValue);
    ==> 6. Question:
Is it possible -and how?- to use a framework like dotnet?
How to utilize SAX or DOM in Designer?
Many thanks and appreciations for your help!!

  • How  to debug BDC , Dialog program and Script

    Hi all,
Please let me know, how to  debug BDC , Dialog program and Script
    Thanks&Regards
    Devi

    <b>SCRIPT DEBUGGING</b>
When we want to debug the SAPSCRIPT, we need to first activate the debugger, we have 2 ways to activate the Debugger.
    1) Execute the program RSTXDBUG
    2) Go to SE71, from the initial screen enter the form name and press Utilities --> Activate Debugger
When we are in the Debug screen,
3.1) F5 will be debug filed by field, that means if a single line is having 5 fields, if we press the F5 this will do field by field,
3.2) F6 will be line by line, that means when we press the F6, it will debug the line and it will go to the next line. F7 also do the same way
3.3) F8 will be very useful when we have any include statement in the SCRIPT, if any include is there and we press the F5 or F6 then this will go that Include (normally SO10 or any transaction text), then if we want line by line debugging then we can press the F5 or F6, or if you want to execute that in a single shot then press the F8, then the debugger will be executed that include and come back to the Script debugging.
Some times in the script, we may right lengthy lines, if we want to debug that whole line, we have an option called Left/Right, this we will find the Debug screen of the script, there is a Push button, we can make use this button to debug.
We can put the breakpoints in the SCRIPT DEBUGGER also, just press the BREAKPOINT Pushbutton from the debugging screen or press EDIT --> Breakpoint
If we want to debug the print program from the SCRIPT DEBUGGER, just press SHIFT+F7 or EDIT --> ABAP Debugging
If we want to see the Windows which are defined in the forms, just press the Go to --> Form --> Windows .if we want to see the pages go to --> Form --> pages. Here we have an option to see the page wise window also go to --> Form --> page Windows
If we want to see the paragraphs which are defined in that script, press go to --> Styles --> paragraphs.
If we want to see the Character formats which are defined in that script, press go to --> Styles --> Character Strings.
If we want to see the Page formats which are defined in that script, press go to --> OTF --> Page.
If we want to see the Elements which are used in the Script, then press go to --> Text Elements --> Form Elements.
If we want to see the commands which are used in the script, press go to --> Commands --> List
Finally, if we want to exit from the SCRIPT DEBUGING, simply press Debugger --> Exit
    <b>DEBUG BDC</b>
ust go into debugging mode and do the BDC step by step, when it comes to the Call Transaction line, check the mode which will be 'N'....Now, overwrite this with 'A' and execute the BDC...It will run in All Screens Mode....
As suggested above the MODE 'A' will do the trick as it takes you to all screens.
Normally MODE N will be defaulted as it will be used for background processing,
    Here is a simple tip,
This will be the call transaction part of the program,
CALL TRANSACTION 'IW32' USING BDCDATA MODE 'N'
    MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB.
I would suggest you to make it like this,
    DATA: V_MODE TYPE C VALUE 'N'.
    *<In debug mode set V_MODE = 'A' for debugging>
CALL TRANSACTION 'IW32' USING BDCDATA MODE V_MODE
    MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB.
This will be very useful because you just need to change the value of the V_MODE at runtime as A for debugging besides it has N which is the default to be used. (i.e. you need not change the code again and again).
This will be very useful when you have to debug some program in QA or PRD servers.
    regards,
    srinivas

  • How to debug a smartform?

I am facing deffficulty.. while debugging the my smartform.
this is called in e-recruitement portal.. i tried with smartform_trace and break-point and all.
    how to do this?
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    Hi
    DEBUG Smartform:
    1) One way to debug smartform is to debug the Function Module of that smartforms.
If you want to debug particular smartform node that the solution would be,
insert a "Program Line" just above the node you want to debug and this program line write a normal abap breakpoint.
So whenever you call the smartforms, it will stop at this breakpoint and you can debug onwards.
    2) SFTRACE can be used for debugging SMARTFORMS.
    Read More here.

    1) In Smart Forms Editor, In left pane, right Click any Page (say Page1) and select Create -> Window, Give it a name and Description (Say Window1)
    2) Right Click on Window (Window 1) and select Create -> Graphics, Give it a name and description
    3) In general Attributes, Select Name, get search help (F4) , you will find a list of pictures
    4) Select any picture and set its Resolution in DPI
    5) Press F9 to open Smart Forms Builder, Select window (Window1) and In Output options window set, size and position of the Logo
    6) Set any other parameters if required, save and activate.
    7) If there is only 1 Window in the forms, set it as Main Window in general attributes.
    8) Use TCode SE78 to upload new pictures and logos.

    Debug Program scheduled Background
Re: Debugging Report which is scheduled in background
3 types update, normal and system debugging
    check this for update debugging
If you set "Update Debbugging" you can debug the codes which works in update tusk.
SAP std often runs the routine (function or form) to update the database in update tusk mode, these routine start as soon as a commit work is done.
The commit is called at the end of the program, so you can't debug them by "normal debbugging" because it ends as soon as the program ends
    or----
All the database updates are performed by the update work processes by calling the functions/subroutines in update tasks.
These tasks are executed after a commit work is reached in the application. By default you cannot debug these functions.
TO debug these u need to explicitly activate update debugging.
for system debugging check the below link

    http://www.sap-basis-abap.com/sapab002.htm
    System Debugging
If you set this option, the Debugger is also activated for system programs (programs with status S in their program attributes). When you save breakpoints, the System Debugging setting is also saved.
    Update Debugging
Update function modules do not run in the same user session as the program that is currently running in the ABAP Debugger. These function modules are therefore not included in debugging. Only if you select the Update Debugging option can you display and debug them after the COMMIT WORK.
    Normal Debugging
Normal debugging is the one we do it by the normal dynamic break points or by /H or by using stattic break points.
You can switch to diffferent debuggin modes while processing.
    BREAKPOINT
In the source code we set the Break-point there by clicking the stop button, the system will stop there when you execute the program.
    Watchpoint
For watchpoints, we need to give some condition and when this condition is satisfied, program will stop
example : if you want to debug only
for matnr value 100 than set watch point
matnr = 100. when value reaches 100 than
    program stops at that point.

    Hello,
Debugging a JSP using a stack trace is made possible by using the keepgenerated element of the jsp-descriptor element in your web app descriptor in WEB-INF/weblogic.xml. The working-dir and verbose elements are also of interest.
You can edit weblogic.xml or you can use the Oracle WebLogic Server console to configure your web app. In the console you would go to "Deployments", find your web app, select the "Configuration" tab, Lock & Edit, and do your thing. The settings you are interested in are "Debug Enabled", "JSP Keep Generated", and "JSP Verbose". I'm not sure which weblogic.xml element the "Debug Enabled" corresponds to, but it might be something like the debug-enabled element of the session-descriptor element.
I can never remember where JSP generated servlet source code files end up if I have not specified a working dir. They end up buried DEEPLY. I just search the file system in my workspace for the generated files. For example, I just found the generated source for my helloOne.jsp in:
    C:\bea_wlp102\user_projects\workspaces\frmwrk\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server.core\tmp0\frmwrk_domain\work\MyWAR\jsp_servlet\_portlets\__helloone.java
