How to detect Current OS of client's PC ???

Hi,
Can anyone help me out to detect OS of Client PC ??? I am developing JSF application. I want to know that if anyone opens my site then the OS of that perticular PC should be detected. Can anyone help me out to solve this ????
Thanks in advance....
JSFGEEKS

That's indeed also a good option which I completely overlooked. Heck, I ever wrote a browser stats tool which makes use of it ;)
Though keep in mind that the client side has full control over what it sends along the request headers. Your application shouldn't rely that much on it. At highest just use it for statistics or so.

  • How to detect Current Selection in a TextBox

    Hi All,
I faced an issue regarding how to detect current selection in a Word Document TextBox. The Document looks like this,
I tried to use Application_WindowSelectionChange(Word.Selection Sel)
    event to handle,
    private void Application_WindowSelectionChange(Word.Selection Sel)
    if (Sel.Range.ShapeRange.Count != 0)
    return;
    I found Sel.Range.ShapeRange.Count always 0.
To reproduce this issue, I upload the test document in OneDrive, you can download from
    here.
    How to solve this issue?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi friend,
    Just use Sel.ShapeRange.Count instead.
On the other hand, to get selected text, we could use Sel.Text, to get whole selected
TextBox’s text, we could use Sel.ShapeRange.TextFrame.TextRange.Text.
    Good job!

  • RMI - How to detect the cease of client program

    Hi guys,
Under RMI, the client program can easily detect the death of the server. Does anybody knows how the server detect the death of the client?
The situation is like this. The client program makes a remote call to the implementation. Before the implementation returns the result, the client is dead. How would the server know that this particular client is dead? There may be multiple clients for the server.
    Regards,
    Jonathan Li

the server can't know that the client is dead. If it get's a method call, it handles it and then continues waiting.
In my case a sort of heartbeat on the client and detection on the server were sufficient to determine whether the client's still running - you keep a timer and if the client has not accessed after a certain interval, it is considered dead. The client runs a similar timer that sets off a simple heartbeat call with a certain frequency to tell that it's alive, even if no request went to the server in the meantime. - In your case the heartbeat will have to contain an ID for the client and the server will have to keep a list of clients to listen for...

  • How to detect is response deliverred to the client?

    Hello everybody...
I have problem and don't know how to solve.
My server application runs on apache tomcat 5.5, and deals with some important data transactions.
After getting the request, server has 5 sec. to send response, after that clients will close their sockets.
The connection can be very slow, (GPRS), so it is very possible that transaction will not be over in that time.
I need the way to find out, on my server side, when response isn't get to client in 5 sec.
Is there any idea how to do that?
Sorry if my English is not so perfect.
    Thanks

Yes, but that way of write timeout means that write have 5 sec to send buffer to the underlying protocol.
I can't know if TCP succeed or not to deliver data in that short time. I think write is asynchron.
Problem is how to detect when client is disconnect and data are not delivered.
Once again, sorry if my English is not so good.

  • How to detect sessions that are currently running parallel queries?

    Hi everyone,
How to detect session that are currently running parallel queries?
    - The only way i can think of is querying pdml_Status from gv$session?
    - Is there a better way to do this?
    Follow up question:
After detecting sessions that are running parallel queries how do i identify which sessions are slaves of which session?
    thanks!

Start with V$PX_SESSION, however also take a look at V$PQ_* and V$PX_* tables.

  • How to detect what keyboard is currently active on desktop?

Hi there, I'm working on a virtual keyboard (window with buttons as keys) for my swing application. When I show keyobard window I would like to adjust the layout of my virtual keyboard to system keyboard that is currently active on desktop. But I don't know how to detect what keyboard is currently active. How to detect this? Thank you.

I answered my own question - see
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Loading-and-Running-a-VI-on-a-cRIO-from-a-PC/td-p/796657
On the Real-Time CompactRIO Properties > VI Server, you must check the box for TCP/IP protocol, which by default is unchecked.
Also, when you make a Build Specification for a VI and set it to run on startup, you can still enter the VI name (not c:\ni-rt\startup\startup.rtexe) as the VI Path on the Open VI Reference.

  • How to detect ipaddress client when computer client is turn on

    I have problem :
** how to detect ipaddress from client when the computer client is turn on???
    i have assumption : server ipaddress 192.168.2.21
    client_1 ipaddress 192.168.2.26
    client_2 ipaddress 192.168.2.27
anyone want to help me,please give me the sample program.
    thanks before.

    your client will have to
    1) start up when the machine does
    2) make a TCP/IP connection to the server as it starts up
when the server gets a connection from the client, you can query the relevant Socket object for the source IP address
a simple 'google' for java socket tutorials, or a search of the Sun site will show you more quickly and definitively than anyone on a forum

  • How to detect the path of Temp directory

I am writing a class library which allows users to manipulate a database in the web server java applications/applets. In my logic the Application/Applet communicate with a CGI script/Servlet in the server and that do all the database handling. My objective is to make the Client independant from the Database Drivers, and to some restrictions and possible security threats that can arrice when accessing the database directly.
99% of the work is done and now I am doing the fine tuning.
    My Problem:
When the user downloading a blob object from the server database. each time the program read the blob it will get a new copy from the server. This is not good if the blob is large (few 100 megs) . So I am going to implement a cache system. but the problem is If I am caching in the memory it will not support large objects (Memory is a limited factor). So the preferance is use the Temperary files but I do not know how to detect the path to temperary folder.
And my 2nd questions is are the applets allowed to write and read in temperary folder.

The Java default temporary file path can be determined with
System.getProperty("java.io.tmpdir")This is typically the same value as the os environment variable

  • How to detect the OS version and the hardware info??

Hi all, according to the project needs, I to know how to detect OS version and the hardware info.
The point is to detect client's OS version, weather Win98, 2000, XP, Vista.
I have been search the information for several days already.
But can not really found a example which returns the OS version like"Windows XP Version 2002 *****".
And also could not find the CPU type such as"Core 2 due, or  pentium D".
Is there anyone have done this before?
    Thanks.
The Info I need looks like the photo below.

Well, in fact I have the VI and also read the topics as well...... The searching tag is OS info , system info......... After reading your post, now I understand the relation between the version number and the real OS version now, tks.  And another problem is, the processor type returned within the VI have only 4 type:"INTEL 386, INTEL 486, PENTIUM, Unknown".
It can not really return my CPU TYPE. For example the desktop I’m using now is a Pentium, D , 2.80G, 2.80G.. and it only returns type "Pentium". That's why I'm asking is there any other way to do this...... (( Please forgive me if you can not really know what I'm talking about in my first post, now I know how bad my english is.......   ))  I guess I can only try to find out the solution from the registry then... Thanks for your information and reply.

  • How can detect and remove scanned white pages in an OCRd pdf file?

How can detect and remove scanned white pages in an OCRd pdf file?

Acrobat does not support an automated way of doing this directly. You can
remove completely blank pages (pages that don't have any "marking
objects"), but a scanned page does contain an image, so Acrobat won't help
you here. There are a number of 3rd party applications and plug-ins
available. Try a Google search for
    remove blank pages from scanned
    pdf<http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=removeblankpagesfromscanned+pdf&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8>
This will bring up a few different solutions.
Another way is to use JavaScript to find text. You say that these documents
are OCRed, so if you have a blank page, it should not have any text on it.
With some JavaScript, you can identify pages that don't contain text. This
may however fail if you have a page that contains just e.g. a photographic
image. There won't be any text, but the page is certainly not blank.

  • How can I temporarily disable dashboard client

I want to install an updated version of Adobe Flash.  i am being instructed to close Safari (no problem) and Dashboard Client.  How can I temporarily disable Dashboard Client so that I can install the update?  I am currently using MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.2.

Use Terminal to disable the Dashboard. Go to Applications>Utilities>Terminal
Once you have the window open in Terminal copy & paste this command to disable it:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES
Then, restart the Dock using the following command:
    killall Dock
If you want to enable your Dashboard again simply replaceYES with NO in the top command and repeat the process.

Do a search for the word "ExternalInterface" in the help.

  • CSA: How to properly backup the CSA Client Installation on a user pc?

    Hi,
coming from the backup side of things my question is: "How to successfully backup the csa client files on a pc?"
Currently when running the nightly backup i am running into the problem that access to certain csa files is denied.
    E.g.:
    11/11/2008 03:01:04 ANS1228E Sending of object '\\pc06\c$\Programme\Cisco Systems\CSAgent\cfg\agent-api.orl' failed
11/11/2008 03:01:04 ANS4007E Error processing '\\pc06\c$\Programme\Cisco Systems\CSAgent\cfg\agent-api.orl': access to the object is denied
    11/11/2008 03:01:04 ANS1228E Sending of object '\\pc06\c$\Programme\Cisco Systems\CSAgent\cfg\agent-com.orl' failed
11/11/2008 03:01:04 ANS4007E Error processing '\\pc06\c$\Programme\Cisco Systems\CSAgent\cfg\agent-com.orl': access to the object is denied
    and like 20 more files.
Whats the proper way to backup a client including csa. Obviously i can't make my TSM client shutdown the service and then fill out the captcha which protects it.
What would be the correct way to configure CSA properly to allow us to make a backup of the full machine. I guess we are not the only ones backing up full systems. ;)
Thanks in advance for any hints.
    Best regards,
    Eike

I would start by looking at your policy/rule modules to see what is blocking the backup process to "backup" those files.
If your CSA policy is actually doing the blocking, you should be able to create the exception(s) to give the process/user/etc. the ability to access the CSA agent files for backup.
Depending on the CSA policy you are running, the CSA agent protects itself from attack.
