your client will have to
1) start up when the machine does
2) make a TCP/IP connection to the server as it starts up
when the server gets a connection from the client, you can query the relevant Socket object for the source IP address

How to speed up loading when the computer is turned on?

The iMac I have is a Mac osx tiger. It used to be very fast on loading up all the applications. But now it take ages to load up when I turn it on, and it also takes a long time to open an application (especially Numbers, iPhotos, iTunes). What are the causes of this problem? You might try with a bit of general maintenance/ checking:
Boot from the installer disk, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

Why do I only get Email when the computer is turned on?

Using Thunderbird, If the computer is off, no emails are delivered. If the computer is on and I'm signed into my computer account, email seems to work normally. I do not need to be signed on to email.
I previously tried Outlook and Windows Live and had the same problem. Earlier, I used Outlook Express in Windows XP which worked perfectly.
My Email provider is mindspring and my computer is running W7 SP1.

First, do the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
When you complete the above re-download your OS X upgrade (not sure which one that is, but I assume Mavericks.) After the download is completed re-install it. Hopefully, this time it will do what you expect.

I need to receive remote host name or remote IP address in the BSP controller DO_REQUEST method. How to do it?
In Java I can use getRemoteAddr() or getRemoteHost() methods of HttpServletRequest class. But in the BSP I can not find analogues of these methods.

"We cannot complete your itunes request, an unknown errors has occured 9808"

How can i download purchases when 'this computer is already associated with an apple iD'

This has happened many times when using iTunes.
My iTunes is authorised with this computer, and i can make purchases off the iMac I'm using and
have the music be in my iTunes library.
BUT, I also have an iPad, and I've downloaded a few songs off iTunes on my iPad, and I'm having trouble
re-downloading them to my Mac.
I went into my user>purchases>download all
but it came up with a notice saying:
'This computer is already associated with an apple ID,
You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.
You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 64 days.'
Please help? Ive seen this notice before, and I think i just hit 'Okay' but I can't download my songs to my mac now.

Guys ... I know only the Network Interface and I want to know the IPAddresses that have been assigned to the other systems on that Network Interface .. I m making an application on packet sniffing..
I want to show the list of hosts on a given Network Interface or device when a User selects one..
but I just can't seem to find a method ...
I know this is kinda easy .. but plz help me out..
eg:- The User selects Nvidia Ethernet device...

Unless you are the owner of that network then I suggest that you get permission in writing (pen and ink rather than email) before doing whatever it is that you want (unless you use the windows API).
People have been fired, expelled and had civil/criminal legal proceedings against them for network scanning even when they thought they had permission.

To move the folder back you need to access:
\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
And insert the folder back to it, iTunes will automatically recognise it

Screen goes dark when the computer is turned a specific way. Have to pick up the computer and move around in order to get the screen back on?

Occasionally when I turn my computer to show someone something the screen goes completely dark. Then I have to re-turn it or move it around to try and get the screen back on. Its not automatic dim because that is turned off. There doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern either. Help please!

For a while, I've been searching how to detect RMI client unexpected disconnection but there is no real answer for that. There is NO other way to let server know that client is disconnected beside using call back or using periodically checking client?? Something like unreferenced() to tell specific client is not holding the reference or something like that..

In our system, almost every Remote interface has a void ping() method, and we periodically call this, and if there is an Exception thrown we do whatever we need to, to clean up.
Often we create a local (static) proxy class to the Remote object that knows how to do the clean up, and has same methods but doesn't throw exceptions. it does NOT implement the Remote interface so there is no need to catch exceptions at every point it is called. This proxy can control the periodic pinging.
I guess you could extend remote and add a ping method to it (call this PingableRemote), then extend this new interface instead of Remote directly.
Also create a class that takes a PingableRemote and some callback object in it's constructor, which could then take care of the pinging and "remoteLost" notification in a form that can be re-used.
