How to develop set independent mobile application?

I want to know when application is developed using midlet (MIDP), it can be deploy to any mobile set or it will be os dependent or what? What should i use (Profile/Configuration) to develop mobile set / os independent application?
Please help me. Give me links where i can learn the basics open source free codes available.

Just stick to the basic midp 2.0 (or 1.0) api. The you only need to sail arround all the phone specific implementation bugs ;)

!. When you build java application in NetBeans (standard one) you just click 'Build' or 'Clean and Build' and your jar file is waiting for you inside 'dist' directory of your project
2. Connecting MIDP application to the server running PHP scripts is not a problem, just connect using simple HTTP with GET or POST and you are done, google on it!
3. You can connect to the database using some kind of PHP/JSP/ASP or whatever application you want and then using method from point 2 to send and retrive values, you can do it with web services as well, possibilities are endless

I'm looking for a way to automate the Remote Desktop Mobile application wpctsc.exe. Specifically, when wpctsc.exe launches, a screen is first displayed showing Status, Computer, User name, Password, Domain, and other options. I would like it instead to connect (with these defaults) directly without showing this screen. Is there a command line option or registry setting I can take advantage of? If not, can another program such as CETSC be run on WM6 and automated in a similar manner to get the same result? Is there a way to make use of an rdp file?

I can't answer your question directly, but I've had similar interests.
I found that the last connection made is stored in \Windows\Default.rdp.
The executable seems to ignore any parameters given, so you can't tell it to use another file, but you can, of course, replace the contents of the default.rdp file.
I'm planning to wrap wptsc with a Mortscripts that can preserve all the last connections. When the script is launched, it should display a menu of the most recent connections, replace default.rdp with the selected connection, launch wptsc, and update the MRU list upon exit.
Mortscript should also be able to automate the first screen - it can fake keypresses and clicks, detect windows, etc.

Developing a CLDC mobile application

I m developing an mobile CLDC application and It is an SMS related application. Every character in the message is to be replaced with a string. So,
should I maintain a database table of that replacment strings which scans and replace this entry OR
should I apply through code like
if(char A found)
then replace it with some string.
I want to keep that table in mobile device, if I can keep it then which database is preffered and what would be its size
I am doing this for compressing the SMS data, so if there is any technique for achieving text to text compression, please tell me.
Please guide me in this problem.....

well you can use that if statement or even RMS. but it all depends with what type of app it is. if you are to change over 100 characters to strings then if statement will be seriously chaotic. i think so!

How to install/deploy JavaFx Mobile application on real mobile devices.

I had gone through the internet and various links but i'm unable to find the solution regarding how to deploy the application made with JavaFx mobile on real mobile devices. There was some link in which it was written you can install the application in Nokia 40 5edition phone, i tried to install in Nokia 6600 Slider through bluetooth; so while installing the application it shows an error as "Invalid Application".
I'm also facing same problem which others are also facing as Application is not compatible when i tried to install in Nokia N95.
So, if anybody knows the method/technique to deploy the application in real mobile devices i'll be grateful to him.

Thanks Michael for the reply. I also tried to install one simple application made with JavaFx Mobile in Sony-Ericsson JP-8 platform(K850i, W910i). While installing the application it pop-up the error "Operation Failed".
So, is there any way to install the application in current available mobile devices in the market or not??

How do you profile AIR mobile applications?

I'm used to using FlashBuilder to profile an application, take memory snapshots, and find lingering objects from memory leaks. With AIR mobile, the best I can do is run Adobe Scout to verify that my application has a memory leak. The list of all ActionScript objects is massive- it's not useful for tracking down a leak. Is there a way to use the standard FlashBuilder profiler, or another way to track down a memory leak using Adobe Scout?

Yes, I've enabled telemetry. I use object pooling and nulling, but not in the instance that's causing the exception. It's a simple block that involves a few Parsley commands and an ANE. I really need the profiler to figure out what part is leaking, and I have to test it on a device because of the ANE.
