How to disable content search

Why does the Mac OS default to content search? Really. With all the stuff I have on my Mac? Everytime I search, I have to click to switch to filename.... after waiting 20 seconds to a minute for it to search my whole system of content indexes! I mean, what moron out there doesn't know the names if their files to search on. Good grief This is crazy. Does not anyone at Apple use their Mac? Searching content is an add-on. Not the default. My Mac just keeps getting slower and slower.
So now that I am finished with my rant....
How can I simply disable content searching, without going to a third party? I just want to search filenames, which is a much FASTER search.

Construct a savedSearch with the criteria you want. This i what I use exclusively. It's the only way around Apple's dumb default setup.

Prasanna is right: the easiest way to change the search help for certain fields is to use the WD-Exits, in this case use of the WDDOMODIFYVIEW exit by creating an enhancement implementation.
Here can dynamically change the help-value for certain fields. I will give you a sample for accounting field G-L-Account:

How to disable the Search option in UWL header?

I am trying to removed the search option in the standard UWL iView by setting the "Allow Search" property of the standard iView to "No". However this doesn't remove the search option in the UWL header. Is this right property to configure? If anybody has already been sucessful, please share the information.

How to disable spotlight searches inside packages

Hi,
I tagged all my files inside my document folder, now I'd like to create and save a smart folder searching for all the untagged files, just in case I create or move a file to that folder without tagging it first.
The problem is that I have several files, which are packages with other files in them (created with Scrivener, Devonthink, OmniOutliner...). These other files aren't tagged (and I don't need nor want to tag them) so they are showed in my spotlight search.
I can't exclude the folders containing these files in spotlight preference, since there are a lot of them and I often create new files of these kinds.
I would like to tell spotlight not to search inside packages. Is that possible?

You can't remove it so as it is fixed in the OS of the phone.

Disable BP Search Screen in IC based on CAD data

We implementing CRM 7.0 IC, with CTI Genesys 7.5.1 (ICI 3.06).
I would like to know how to disable BP Search functionality in IC, based on the specific value for the Call Type from CTI (should be passed in the CAD data).
For all other Call Types the BP Search screen should search for a BP in the Identification screen.
In the ICI 3.06 Interface specification document, Pages 30-31, 4.3.3 Item Attached Data i could not find this information.

This requires enhancing the CRMCMP_BPIDENT/CuCoIdentification component. in PROCESS_INCOMING_REQUEST method, check for your CAD values and skip the search when the values are present.

Enable content search

Dear All,
I have installed IFS 9.0.1 on Oracle 9i.
The problem is I am not able to do content search i.e I am not getting results when i try to search within the content of files.
I read that intermedia Text options should be enabled. In my Oracle/bin directory I found ctxsrv and could run it with CTXSYS/CTXSYS. (I read in one document that this should be run to make content search function). But then I still dont get content search results.
It would be of great help if anyone can throw light on how to enable content search. Please mail me at [email protected]

To be able to do a content search with Oracle Text not only the Oracle Text process (ctxsrv) should be running but
the content that is already in the database should have been indexed. If content was loaded while ctxsrv was
not running the content was not indexed. Was the content indexed?

We have a WebCenter custom portal application integrate with UCM. UCM hosts all static HTMLs, images, files for download, etc and WebCenter is provided the following link to access the html, images, etc.

We notice that if we access http://host/PortalApp/content/conn/UCM_Connection/path/Contribution Folders/web/Public/images/ in browser, it provides full file listing and Up one folder link for viewer to navigate the full structure.
Our question is simple how to disable this behavior but we found nowhere in the documentation / google / forum have answer to this. So hope the experts here can answer, thanks.

No, I am not using Webtier. The content listing is the UCM content structure, not physical file structure. And the UI obviously is rendered by WebCenter with WebCenter image resource http://host/PortalApp/adf/webcenter/uponefolder_qualifier.png.

I don't think you're going to be able to. Usually Approval Status is used in conjunction with Major/Minor versioning and while Approval Status is pending the item is usually a draft.
As a result the search crawler should not be able to see the draft items as it would not have the necessary rights to do so. (Good practice ensures that the Search Crawler has only read access and is not an elevated account for this reason)

I have verizon DSL. I connect via a wireless linksys router.
However, I don't have this toolbar, and don't want it. I'm guessing that years ago when I signed up with Verizon, I eliminated the toolbar because it is a feature I don't want.
It will come as no great surprise that I'm quite annoyed at having to disable these features. These features should be opt-in, not opt-out.

Under the status tab, one part of the interface shows...
dns 1: 71.252.0.12
dns 2: 68.237.161.12
However, it's not clear how to edit this and I'm not even sure if this is what I need to change.
Under the basic setup tab, the interface has three rows for static DNS 1, static DNS 2 and static DNS 3. These are all set to 0.0.0.0. Is this what I should be editing?
Ultimately I'm trying to prevent the "search assist" feature from interfering with a setting in my browser than (normally) should handle all keyword searches I perform in the location window with the search engine of my choice.
