How to disable drive upon LabView error

I'm running a closed loop PD position controller in Labview 8.5 and NI PCI-6259 M series card and BNC-2120.  I'm sending an analog voltage signal (+/- 10) to a Copley Xenus amplifier (current command) as well as a +5v signal to enable the amplifier.  The controller uses position for feedback.  When labview errors out, the daq card stays in its current state (and keeps sending the 5v enable signal).   For safety reasons, how can I configure my system so that this signal stops being sent out, and the amp is disabled?
Maciek

The program crashed.  I shut off the amp.  The actuator shaft, which is positioned vertically, dropped to its lowest position due to gravity (it's a linear actuator).  The daq card kept pumping out a high force command, due to the large position error created by the disturbance, as well as the 5v enable signal.  Upon turning the amp back on, the PD controller saw a large difference between desired and actual position, and the actuator shaft shot up forcefully, creating a very dangerous situation.  In the program, I have a case structure which won't enable the amp. unless the difference between desired and actual position is small enough.  But the amp stays enabled when labview crashes.

  • How to disable drive letter assignment for Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi everybody,
Currently, I have a problem that need your help for my company
I received a new request from my boss, that is disable USB removeable storage on Windows 7 64 bit
I found out and apply some solutions from internet but it cannot be solved
In some solutions, I pay attention to a good one: Disable drive letter assignment for Windows 7 64 bit
I think it may solve my problem. But how to do it??? I need your help from all of you
    Thanks for your support!!!!

    Hi,
Let's verify your issue. Did you want to disable USB storage device?
    If yes, try this:
    1. If you have not ever already done so, you must connect a USB storage device
to the computer now, and wait until Windows installs it and displays it in the Computer window with an assigned drive letter, then
    disconnect it.
    2. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type
    regedit, and press Enter.
    3. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
    4. In Registry Editor, navigate to the location below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\USBSTOR
    5. In the right pane of USBSTOR, double click on Start to modify it.
    6. Type in 4, click on OK.
    7. Close Registry Editor windows.

  • How to disable HP Support Assistant error page in Internet Explorer

I'm trying to see the actual cause for an error in Internet Explorer.  I know that you can uncheck "Show friendly HTTP messages" to remove the Microsoft "simple" error pages, but that doesn't seem to remove the HP Support Assistant error page.  How can I disable this "help"?

    Hi Patrick,
I've created that example a couple of times and I've never seen this error.
Have you checked the service marketplace for any notes regarding your SP-level?
Other than that you should check the created layout in your view again. Check that you don't have a action defined in the handler "onEnter" in the input fields. According to the tutorial you should only have a action for the button UI element.
Maybe try to create the view from scratch.

  • WRT54G: How to disable wireless upon reset

Hello everyone. I have a two-part question as follows:
Part 1: has anyone ever had a problem with a WRT54G router "forgetting" its settings and reverting to the defaults even though you did not press the Reset button? I have had two different people tell me that they configured wireless security but then after several weeks/months the security settings "vanished" and their wireless network was open with no encryption. Is it possible that a brownout or extended blackout could cause this?
Part 2: due to the possibility of this happening, does anyone know how to configure this device so that if it IS reset (i.e. pressing the reset button or anything else that causes a reset), the wireless radio will be disabled until a user MANUALLY logs in via a wired connection and turns it on, or presses the easy setup button? This would prevent a LOT of security problems where people just don't know any better and plug up the router without configuring the security properly. I think linksys should build this option into their firmware: disable the wireless radio until it is manually turned on by either logging into the configuration page or pressing the easy setup button on the front.
I assume that to accomplish part 2, I need a third-party firmware for the router. Any recommendations on which firmware would leave the wireless off by default when reset?
I would be purchasing a new WRT54G for this application, and it would probably be version 8.
Would another router model be better than the WRT54G?
This is for a small business, and I can't take the risk that the wireless network should become unsecured without anyone's knowledge, maybe due to power outage/brownout/firmware bug/etc...
Thank you so much in advance for any advice!

    1)  Routers seem to be sensitive to electrical surges and noise.  Electrical surges and noise are common with power outages, and can also be caused by such things as large motors starting up, or malfunctioning electrical equipment.   Electrical surges and noise can cause routers to loose their settings.
You should keep your router plugged into a high quality surge suppressor with EMI/RFI filtering, such as the Belkin SurgeMaster Gold Series. A surge suppressor alone is not enough because surge suppression does not start until the voltage exceeds 330 volts.  You must have the EMI/RFI filtering.   Alternatively, most UPS devices have both surge suppression and EMI/RFI filtering.
If your router has forgotten its settings, then you should also download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware.  After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
If the above does not prevent your router from "forgetting" its settings, then the router is malfunctioning, and it should be replaced. A router that forgets its settings is not secure.
    2)  I do not know of any way to cause the wireless portion of the router to be turned off when the router resets.   In my opinion, this is a security problem, and I agree that it should be fixed.
    3)  Rather than getting a new wireless router, you should consider getting a wired router and a WAP (wireless access point).  The advantage of this setup is that you can unplug the WAP when your business is closed.  This would guarantee that, should the wireless security ever fail, at least it would fail during business hours, and you would be likely to notice it.
Alternatively, you could just shut down the wireless router when your business is closed.
If you decide to stay with a wireless router, you should also consider the WRT54GL.  This router has a good record of reliability and is a favorite of those who want to use 3rd party firmware, such as DD-WRT.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to disable the probe() routine when install a pseudo driver

I developed a very simple pseudo driver which does not control any hardware device. I just want to learn dynamic load a driver through the SUN Autoconfiguration method. When I run add_drv mydriver, I got the following error message
devfsadm: driver failed to attach: xlpd
This is because the probe() routine try to look for some hardware but it can not find it. So the question is how to disable this probe() routine so that this pseudo driver can be installed.

attach may fail also if you didn't provide a configuration file for your pseudo driver. Here is a sample for the xlpd pseudo driver:
    <pre>
    #ident "@(#)xlpd.conf 1.0 02/25/00"
    name="xlpd" parent="pseudo";
    </pre>
This file must be named xlpd.conf if your pseudo driver is named xlpd, and must be located in /usr/kernel/drv even if your pseudo driver is 64-bit.

  • How do I view and open all my files again that are on my external hard drive?? Error message saying 'The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer' Three options are Initialize, Ignore or Eject.

I have recently purchased Toshiba 1TB hard drive and I set it up and I was able to transfer all my files onto it such as my music, photos, documents. I had correctly ejected and used it again and all these files were safely stored and accessible afterwards. However after I rebooted my computer as it had been going slow and I had too much clogging it up once I reconnected the external hard drive I have error message saying 'The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer' Three options are Initialize, Ignore or Eject. How do I access all my files? I set it up to work on both mac and windows. I have tried both another mac and windows computer and same issue occurs?? I am worried that all my personal files are gone but am confused as the drive has had absolutely no damage to it as it was in a very short time frame and its never left the same spot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your quick response. I had a look at your discussion... I tried it on a Windows machine and I thought that was compatible with ExFAT?
Therefore I need to attempt to use my external hard drive with a machine that boasts OS X 10.6.5 or above and then it should work?
    Thanks

  • How to disable the option of Resart for application error in SXMB_moni

    Hi Experts,
I have a scenario of JDBC to Proxy. In this we have created Fault message type to capture any error. The requirement is to disable the option of Restart in SXMB_MONI for application error generated with Fault message. We have made coding for generating application error in inbound proxy code.Looking for a quick reply.
    Thanks
    Deepak

    Hi Mayank,
I am looking for disabling the "Application Error" generated from Fault message of inbound proxy to "Resart" using Resart button in SXMB_moni of Application system ECC.what I am referring to is how to disable u201Crestartu201D (not resend) of the messages in SXMB_MONI if they have errors.
For example, the interface to load some entries calls a proxy which may load some messages successfully and some may result in errors. This would appear in the SXMB_MONI with application errors with restart capability. If the user restarts the message it will post the entries again which were successfully posted earlier. We would like to prevent this from happening.
    Thanks

  • How set parameters of AKD driver with LABVIEW ?

    Hi
I  am looking a simple example to set or read paramaters of AKD driver with Labview .
The AKD has ethernet communication and the control is analogue - AKD-P00306-NBAN-0000
I want to use Labview to read the same paramerters like Kollmorgen WorkBench
    Thank you for  you help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi k-usa,
We use Workbench to access these parameters, and unfortunately for many of them there isn't a way to access them in LabVIEW.  The manual for using the AKD with our C-Series modules (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375516b.pdf) specifies setting these parameters in Workbench for this reason.  I apologize that there isn't a way to access many of them in LabVIEW.

I don't have a PC in front of me, but what I'd try is to write to stderr
or stdout. If that is not possible, the other possibilities depending
on what Spectrum supports is to try named pipes or TCP/IP.

  • How to force TestStand to ignore LabVIEW errors

    Hi,
usually where there is an error in the LabVIEW code module TestStand stops and gives a pouup message .
Is there any way to force TestStand to ignore LabVIEW errors and contiouse testing?
    Thanks

You can also work more globally - go to the Configure menu item and select Station Options.
At the bottom of the execution tab, there's a section for what to do on Run-time errors. -> Show dialog, Cleanup, Ignore or Abort.
Whilst not specific to steps configured to use the LabVIEW adapter (assuming you're mixing some programming languages) that at least get you continuing on to the next step without the dialog.
If you need to assess if it's specifically LabVIEW modules causing the error, then you need to use the Station, Process Model or Sequence File callback for On run-time error, and the step gets passed as a parameter. That would allow you to work out if the step was LabVIEW specifically and then make a decision as to what to do next.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to terminate TestStand Application after a LabView error.

We've just started launching TestStand from a command line, and when it (TS) stops sequence execution due to a LabView error, the command window doesn't know its status. So, I have a two part question:
    1) Is there a way to COMPLETELY STOP the TestStand application when a LabView error is encountered? (I have been able to get the error popup to stop, but TestStand is still active and the command line is still sitting there thinking everything is fine).
    2) Assuming that there is a solution to #1, is there also a way to get LV or TS to report the error to an external command prompt or batch file?
     Thanks,
       - Paul Iovanna
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Manooch,
We've managed to get the TestStand sequence to stop when we want it to (by using the /quit option in the command line), but now we can't seem to get Reports to generate.
Specifically what we are doing is including a particular test sequence in a fully automated Build/Test/Report system. After an automated build of our product completes, we have tools and command files that load all appropriate code into the various components of our system, and then we lauch a TestStand sequence that exercises much of the newly imaged system. Since we are running from the command line - and that command line is being monitored by other processes within our Build/Test/Report system, we need to have TestStand stop AND exit, or else the command line just hangs.
So, we really need two things to happen:
    1) Get TestStand to stop execution AND exit - and we seem to have this working.
    2) Report the results from the test sequence:
       - We have no problem doing this when the Sequnce Editor is launched directly, and the sequence is started from its GUI.
       - However, when we use the command line to launch the sequence via your "TestExec.exe" - there's no report! All of the Report Options settings are the same as for the Sequnce Editor GUI.
So, at a minimum, we need to get the usual report to be generated and saved when we launch from the command line - and the preferred option would be to have any error codes from TestStand (or LabView, since the test sequence uses only LV steps) reported directly to the stdout, in this case the command line.
Hopefully that explains our setup and requirements a little better - and thanks in advance for the assistance.
FYI - TestStand version 4.1.1 running on Windows XP.

    Reidl,
Thank you for your answer.  How do I uninstall my current version?  I have looked in "Add or Remove Programs," but I don't see anything under "Xilinx" or "Spartan."  I do see an entry for "National Instruments Software."  However, when I click "Change / Remove" I don't see any entries for the Spartan Board.
I tried running the installation program, and I received the following message:
The NI LabVIEW FPGA Support for Spartan-3E 1.1.0 installation has failed with the following error.
You have a higher version of NI LabVIEW FPGA Support for Spartan-3E in your system.  You must uninstall it before installing this again.
What is the latest version number?  How do I check what version I currently have?
