How to edit 1920x1080 & 1280x720 & 720x480 footage in one project - HELP!
I just shot a documentary in which we used two different cameras:
Our A camera was a Panasonic Varicam 2700 shooting in 1280x720 (our desired format), mostly 30fps but at times 60fps for slow-motion sequences. We shot on P2 cards, and my computer says the native codec is ai1p.
Our B camera was a DSLR, specifically the Canon 5D Mark II which can only shoot in 1920x1080, 30fps. I've converted these files from their native H.264 codec to Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) for better workflow in FCP.
In addition, we have SD archival footage that is 720x480 and codec that is DV/DVCPro NTSC.
What is the best method for editing these three formats in FCP? Our desired output format is 1280x720 in the highest quality possible.
Therefore what should my sequence settings be? Do I need to down-convert the B-cam footage before editing or FCP will do this automatically once my settings are set? How do I deal with the archival footage?
I'm very new to editing with multiple native formats. Any help or advice you can offer will be much appreciated!

If you're heading for 720p then it would be more efficient to convert the DSLR to correct format and frame resolution when you're converting it. If you're using the Canon transfer plugin you don't have that option, but it may be easier to convert with a different tool. I'd try to get everything into the same format at the beginning rather than work with multiple formats. It may take more effort and time up front, but I think it's worth it in the long run.

Or look on one of the Auction websites or places like iFixit.com for a replacement set.
If your Mac came new with any of the Download Only versions of OS X, Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks you don't need any discs to reinstall OS X. You use the Online Internet Recovery system or the built in Recovery HD partition inb the internal hard drive.
For the built in Recovery HD hold down the Command + r keys at startup. For the Online system hold down the Command + Option/Alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. -
How can I export many short videos from one project?
We had an awards ceremony, and the entirety of the program was filmed and is now saved on my computer as one large, continuous file. I would like to edit it down to only the acceptance speechers (there are about 10 or so) and export them to MPEGs to share online. Is there a way I can do this from within one project or do I need to start over every time, editing each speech out individually and then exporting?

This involves trimming of the source (in Project Media area) in Preview Windows with the program's Set In Set Out points and the saving the trims as subclips in the Project Media and/or trims dragged to the Timeline.

I cannot figure out how to edit my h.264 footage in Premiere Pro. Please help.
I have been trying to import AVI video into Premiere pro CS5. I have a new Dell Laptop with Windows 7. Every time I try to import the video into Premiere it only shows up as audio files. However, Windows Media Player plays the files just fine. I've tryed converting the files with Media Encoder but that sees the files as only audio files as well. I've used the G Spot program and it tells me that the Codec is the H264 codec and that the name is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. It also tells me that the codec is already installed on my computer.
I've had problems trying to edit h.264 stuff for longer than I'd care to admit and I just want to figure it out once and for all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is not going to help in the OP's circumstance; if the video doesn't play in Premiere, it's not going to magically start playing once dropped on the New Item button. That sets up a sequence with parameters that match the footage (is that what you mean by letting "PPro analyze the file?"), but Premiere is pretty black-or-white when it comes to format/codec support--it plays everywhere or it doesn't play at all.
If that were not true, DV footage would have to be edited only in a DV sequence, and AVCHD only in an AVCHD sequence. Of couse, that's not the case--sequences are format-agnostic. -

I can use flash to edit certain components like header text, etc. But The content is impossible for me to change. I think that these are psd files, which I can open with gimp or another program and edit. I save and replace that file, but when I view movie again, the content is the same. I guess what I need to know is how to get these files back into my flash movie after I have edited them. Please help, I am no computer expert, but I am learning. Currently I have video clips in itunes, iphoto, movies folder, imovie, imovieHD... probably some duplicates, How can I clean this up?
Yeah, this is frustrating for me, too. I tried a few different variants: keeping everything in Aperture, keeping only videos in iPhoto, keeping videos in Movies folder, etc. Reason being I'd like to be able to sync some videos back to the iPhone will keeping access available for iMovie - which is tougher than it should be. Now that the iPhone does HD videos, Apple needs to either adjust iPhoto to work with videos better or work with iMovie to actually function as a movie database as well as editor.
For now, I, too, have my stuff strewn about on my Mac but I'm trying to consolidate as much as I can into iMovie events on an external drive. I have a bunch of video clips of my 2 year old and I've decided to just group them by year and then put together an edit of each to then put into iTunes so I can view them on AppleTV as well as sync to my iPhone. How to edit multiple clips in AE for a project in PPro?
I have a project in PPro already laid out. Now, I need to remove grain (denoise) and stabalize the shaky footage for almost every clip in the movie (there are about 13 clips). Is there an efficient way for me to perfect each of these clips in AE and render them out and overright the old video files with the new, perfect video files? Dynamic link does not seem to do the job.
Any help is awesome. Thanks!We've been over this before. You have two choices. Open up the clips you want to work on in AE and render them to your production codec, or use Dynamic Link. If the show is shot and cut exactly the way you want it to look, then dynamic link is the easiest way to go. If that's not the case, then working on individual clips in AE and replacing the footage later is the best option. There's no easy way to replace the clips unless you process the entire shot, render to the same name, then replace the original file with the fixed one.

How can I use footage from one project in another?
The best format for saving your video from one project so that it can be used in another Premiere Elements project is DV-AVI. For hi-def video, the format is HDV.
To save your video as a standard-definition DV-AVI, go to Share, Personal Computer and select the AVI output option with the DV preset. When you're ready to mix together these segments open a new project using the DV settings and assemble them on that timeline.
To save your video as a high-definition M2T video, go to Share, Personal Computer and select the MPEG output option with the 1440x1080 MPEG preset. Combining 60 fps and 24 fps footage in one project
I've got a unique and confusing problem. I am trying to make a video that has a small amount of 60 fps played back at normal speed, soap opera effect and all, placed inside of a normal 23.976 fps project (full of primarily 23.976 fps footage).
I can hear you asking "why on Earth would you want to do such a thing?!" The video project is actually designed to be an explanation and demonstration of why and how higher frame rates look the way they do, a sort of explainer on how our eyes and brains process them, etc., so I need a bit of shiny soap opera stuff, just not the whole vid, because yuck.
The final destination for this project is YouTube, which now offers 60 fps uploads, so my final export would be at 60fps. If I shoot the rest of my stuff at 23.976, how can I combine the two so the normal stuff looks normal in a 60 fps export, and the 60 fps stiff looks shiny? If I drop 23.976 into a 60 fps project/export, won't it get choppy as hell in the final export?

How do I transfer a voice-over from one project to another?
I cannot COPY the voice-over from Project #1 and PASTE it onto Project #2.
I've got to believe this is possible without re-recording the voice-over.

But in Project A - Export out as QuickTime .aiff (Share to QuickTime/Expert mode/Audio only)
Import it into Project B
Many elaborate sceens are made by Export / Import method. But still it use to work.

Properly pasting 720x480 footage from a 1080i sequence onto a 720x480 seq..
I usually edit 1080i footage so I have my FCP sequence settings set up accordingly, but when a friend asked me to edit a tape of 720x480 footage I forgot to change the settings. Now I am almost done editing and need to figure out how to properly paste the 720x480 footage from the 1080i sequence onto a new 720x480 sequence. I need to do this so I can export as a 720x480 qt.
I say properly because I already tried it but on the new 720x480 sequence the image now looks really stretched out. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you!Well there really is not any attributes to remove because I did not make any changes to the clips myself, but for the sake of solving this issue I also tried checking all the attributes and then individually as well.
