How to enforce the encoding when opening a data set for output
Hi,
Just would like to know if there are any means to enforce the encoding of the dataset opened for output. What I means is that if I use the following statement to craete a dataset for output
open dataset A for output in text mode encoding UTF-8 message MMMM.
It seems that if the content of the output dataset contains only English (or single byte) characters, the output dataset will be in ANSI encoding irregard of the option 'encoding UTF-8' specified in the open statement.
However, if the content contains some Asian (or double bytes) characters, the output dataset will be in UTF-8 encoding.
I would like to know if there are any means to enfore the encoding of the output dataset in both cases to be UTF-8 as I've specified in the open statement.

Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

I have a summary report with the name of the sales agents and their total sales for the period from so and so. Now I need to run the same report to be able to see their total sales but from two set of dates, for eg. the same report for 2006 and 2007, side by side to compare the sales done by these agents.. to get an idea if their performance is improving, etc. How do I do this??
The report already has two parameters date1 and date2, so in this I can give the date as from 01-JAN-2006 to 31-MAR-2006. But in the same report, I also need the total sales from 01-JAN-2007 to 31-MAR-2007, so that it can be compared.
Please advise. Its urgent. Its for the chairman.

Why does the Summary function give a datatype error when opening a data model for editing?
I have two datasets (G1 and G2) within a data model; i've used a field in G2 and placed it into G1 as a Summary Function of G2. The datatype of this field in G2 is Integer, however if you set the Summary field in G1 to the same datatype - Integer, an error appears.
Oracle have provided a patch.
We are running OBIEE at patchset 11.1.1.7.140715, Oracle have provided us with a patch p17563277 backported to the 140715 patchset.
This fix will presumably be incorporated in later releases. -

It works fine, except that I don't know how to specify the encoding of the text in the CSV file (Latin1, MacRoman, Unicode). This option is available in the export dialog of Numbers. Any hint on how to do that is welcome. (GUI Scripting?)
Where can I find documentation on the iWork "vocabulary" available? Is there a definitive documentation somewhere? I tried to record an manual export in the script editor, without success. Script is more or less empty.

(1) Defining the encoding thru the preferences file apply only if
the application is not in use because the file is read only once in a session.
A test urge you to quit Numbers if it is running.
(2) info for is deprecated so it may be removed by Apple tomorrow.
I no longer use it.
(3) just for the fun, I added a piece of code allowing you to select the encoding on the fly.
Thanks to the property chooseEncodingInScript, at this time the script use Unicode (UTF-8)
(4) I'm wondering which tool is used to launch this script,
I don't know the way to pass arguments when I run one.

How to enforce the message "Do you want to save changes?"
Hello,
How to enforce the message "Do you want to save changes?" when the user attempts to close a form after checking a non-database item (check-box).
All the other database items in the block are not updateable and only viewable.
After checking the non database item check-box, if the user tries to commit, then the system is saving the changes and call the appropriate procedure on save.
But if the user tries to close the window without committing, the form is not showing the message "Do you want to save changes?" since the check-box is a non database item.
How to enforce the message "Do you want to save changes?" in this scenario when the user tries to close the window?

SriThis is a fairly common question in the forum. You will need to override the default exit form process and check to see if the checkbox is checked. You can do this in the Key-Exit trigger. For Example:

BTW, what happens if all the user does is check the checkbox? No other changes have occured. What changes are you trying to process?

Could anyone tell how to tell from a String object in which encoding it is written? Is it UTF-8, UTF-16 etc. Is there any class that posses such a method. Another problem is that this solution must work under java 1.3.

can be encoded in the UTF-8 or ANSI coding. Yes, so you have to tell Java which encoding to use, or it will use your default encoding. Some of the I/O classes have constructors or methods that let you specify which encoding to use.
Moreover
when read from the request in a servlet it is usually
encoded in the UTF-8 coding.If that's specified in the HTTP headers, then the core API classes that grab it before handing it to you will do the conversion I think.

How to keep the whole page open during browsing
I am trying to work out how to keep the whole page open in Safari i.e. the top most line with the Apple logo, file, edit, view etc. whilst browsing. What is the setting to achieve this ? So I can go back to the reference page from where I first visited a thread.
Also, pages open faster at times into a new window instead of a tab. As
my setup has a bit more display than necessary, a few extra windows are
easier than a bunch of tabs in one frame that have no point of reference.
Plus, if I wish to copy/paste or drag into another window, or access extra
content for the sake of reference, I have that; & may use another browser.
For some content, different browsers may be a preference. I'm used to more
than two, and one of three becomes more dedicated to things like web mail.
There may be some options in launchpad items, such as they are.
Mission Control can access other hidden windows. There's a short
cut for Full Screen that when used again, reverts to previous size.
Not sure if this gets near your question, but thought I'd put it out here anyway.

This is because Crystal Reports does not recognize database connection from share drive
1. Save the database locally on server machine
2. Create a new database on server and link the new database with the database on Network.
Steps to link the database.
1.Create a new test database on server.
2. Go to File --> Get External Data --> Link tables | Select the database on Network Drive.
3. Select all the tables from the database.
4. Save the Database e.g. Test.mdb.
5. Create an ODBC Connection on server machine, with the same name as on client machine using test.mdb database.
Note: Click on Advanced button, enter the default user id and password for the odbc connection, it is not mandatory to give Login Name and Password, only if the user id and password are given then we need to provide the same user id and password in the CMC database configuration.
6. Create a report using this ODBC connection, and save the report to Enterprise.

I'm beginner with javaFX and i need to change language of the screen. but i have no idea how to reload the screen when the language was changed. The application have a button where have the language available. I want just refresh screen when the user change language.

Thanks and best regards!Your option 2 (reload the FXML for the scene using the new resource bundle as a parameter), is the way this would normally be done and what I would recommend.
Failing that, you could use option 1 of individually resetting the label text of labeled items (I don't really recommend this).
Why don't you want to use option 2?
Perhaps it is because there is some internal state of the UI which differs from the initial state when the the UI is first loaded (e.g. user has typed text in a text field and you want to preserve that). If that's the case you will need to either go with your option 1 of individually resetting the label text of labeled items, or implement something which preserves the UI state and user data by saving it in memory or to disk, reloading the UI via the FXMLLoader (essentially your option 2), then restoring the UI state and user data to what it was before the language change. Preserving and restoring the modified state seems complicated to me if you have a lot of state, so I wouldn't really advise this approach unless you really needed it. -
