How to export a reference to a table line from a method?

Hello,
I have a class which has a hashed table as an attribute. I want to retrieve a line from the table using the key and return a reference to the table line. I want changes to the return value of the method to be directly reflected in the table, as if using a local field symbol. I have tried to approaches, neither of which works.
First, I returned a reference to the local field symbol. This dumps, because after returning from the method call, the target of this reference no longer resides on the stack.
Second, I have tried using an export parameter marked as "pass by reference", i. e. without VALUE(). Strangely, this still seems to give me only a copy of the data.
What is the correct way to proceed?
Illustrative pseudo-code follows.
Thanks, Sebastian
*==============================================================
*Possibility 1: (using references)
DATA mt_key_map TYPE zt_entity. " member variable (hash table of zs_entity)
METHODS get
    IMPORTING
      !is_key TYPE zs_key
    EXPORTING
      !er_vt TYPE REF TO zs_entity.
METHOD get.
  FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_vt> TYPE zs_entity.
  READ TABLE mt_key_value WITH KEY key = is_key ASSIGNING <fs_vt>.
  GET REFERENCE OF <fs_vt> INTO er_vt.
ENDMETHOD.
" Client Code:
  FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_vt> TYPE zs_entity.
  CALL METHOD get
    EXPORTING
      is_key        = is_key
    IMPORTING
      er_vt         = lr_vt.
  ASSIGN lr_vt->* TO <fs_vt>.  " will dump, because the local field symbol
                               " to which lr_vt points is no longer on the stack
  <fs_vt>-value = 'newdata'.
*==============================================================
*Possibility 2:  (using a structure passed by reference)
DATA mt_key_map TYPE zt_entity. " member variable (hash table of zs_entity)
METHODS get
    IMPORTING
      !is_key TYPE zs_key
    EXPORTING
      !es_vt TYPE zs_entity.
METHOD get.
  FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_vt> TYPE zs_entity.
  READ TABLE mt_key_map WITH KEY key = is_key ASSIGNING <fs_vt>.
  es_vt = <fs_vt>.
ENDMETHOD.
" Client Code:
  DATA: ls_vt TYPE zs_entity.
  CALL METHOD get
    EXPORTING
      is_key        = is_key
    IMPORTING
      es_vt         = ls_vt.
  ls_vt-value = 'newdata'.   " will not change the contents of the
                             " table mt_key_value

In the first approch, try to change the exporting parameter type REF TO DATA.
Try like:
CLASS lcl_test DEFINITION.
  PUBLIC SECTION.
    DATA: t_mara TYPE HASHED TABLE OF mara WITH UNIQUE KEY matnr.
    METHODS:
      constructor,
      get
        IMPORTING
          if_matnr TYPE matnr
        EXPORTING
          ea_mara  TYPE REF TO data.
ENDCLASS.                    "lcl_test DEFINITION
START-OF-SELECTION.
  DATA: lo_test TYPE REF TO lcl_test,
        lr_data TYPE REF TO data.
  FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fa_mara> TYPE ANY,
                 <f_field> TYPE ANY.
  CREATE OBJECT lo_test.
  lo_test->get(
    EXPORTING
      if_matnr = '000000000077000000'   " << Replace Your Material
    IMPORTING
      ea_mara  = lr_data ).
  ASSIGN lr_data->* TO <fa_mara>.
  ASSIGN COMPONENT 'ERSDA' OF STRUCTURE <fa_mara> TO <f_field>.
  <f_field> = space.
  WRITE: 'Done'.
CLASS lcl_test IMPLEMENTATION.
  METHOD constructor.
    SELECT * INTO TABLE t_mara
           FROM mara
           UP TO 10 ROWS.
  ENDMETHOD.                    "constructor
  METHOD get.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <lfs_mara> LIKE LINE OF me->t_mara.
    READ TABLE me->t_mara ASSIGNING <lfs_mara> WITH KEY matnr = if_matnr.
    GET REFERENCE OF <lfs_mara> INTO ea_mara.
  ENDMETHOD.                    "get
ENDCLASS.                    "lcl_test IMPLEMENTATION

    dsquery * -filter "(objectCategory=computer)" -attr name operatingSystem

    last logon user name - not really stored (or lined) with computer object.  However, you can get this info during the logon process or from the computer.  Here is method:

  • How to Export full street address of the contacts from AD OU

    How to Export full street address of the contacts from AD OU

    Break down the one liner suggested by Chen . What do you see when you run the below :
    Get-ADUser -Searchbase 'OU=XYZ,DC=XYZ,DC=XYZ' -Filter * -Properties *
    You will have to replace the OU path in the above.
    Once you see the Users are an output of the above, try below :
    Get-ADUser -Searchbase 'OU=XYZ,DC=XYZ,DC=XYZ' -Filter * -Properties * |
    Select SamaccountName, @{n="Full Address";E={[String]::Join(';',$_.StreetAddress , $_.l, $_.PostalCode, $_.Country)}}
    If you are able to see the objects till this point then only you will get those in your CSV. These are nothing but basic steps to follow when someone gives you a solution.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to export an entire model content (tables and charts) to pdf

    Hello,
    I would like to export a complete model, which includes tables and charts, to pdf.
    I am already familiar with [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/47fe4fef-0d01-0010-6f87-ed8ecb479123] tutorial but it explains how to do it for a single table and doesn't deal with charts. What I would like to do is take like a screenshot of the entire iView/model content to pdf.

    Hi, rbish-
    Not for the entire stage.  The only thing you could do is to highlight everything and convert it to a symbol, then ensure that you move your triggers and labels to the new symbol.  Then you could export an individual symbol, which will also package all of the dependent symbols.
    Hope that helps,

  • How to export the data to a excel file from RSA3?

    Hi experts,
    1.I am trying to save the RSA (SRM extractor) to excel spread sheet to compare SRM data with BI data. When i run the the transaction RSA3 it just showed me 10 different data packets. How to export the data to excel spread sheet for reconciliation?
    2. Does any body know if the stepup tables exist for SRM extractors?
    Thank in advance
    Sharat.

    Hello Sharat,
    You have two options of saving data to excel sheet:
    Step 1:
    Goto RSA3, change the "Data Records / Calls" to 1000 and then execute. This way instead of 10 different packets you will get one packet.
    Step2:
    Click on the list button, open the packet by double clicking it. You will see all the data on your screen.
    Step3:
    Goto System -> List -> Save - > Local File -> Spreadsheet and give some name for your xls file.
    Assign points if helpful.

  • WD ABAP: How to get the contents of selected table lines?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to figure out how to get the contents of table lines back from the UI. I display a table with several lines of data. The user selects some rows. I want to move the contents of the selected rows to another table. I have a context attribute, say DATA, with attributes FIELD1... FIELDn, using a DDIC structure. These are bound to the table UI element and the corresponding table columns. To get the selected rows, I use wd_context->get_selected_elements(). This works, but what I get from this method is references to if_wd_context_element. How do I know which row (row number = ?) this corresponds to? And how do I get the actual data? I want a structure with FIELD1 = value1 FIELD2 = value2 etc. My context attributes FIELD refer to table columns, but I'm looking for the table line...
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks,
    Ira

    Hi Ira,
    wd_context->get_selected_elements() returns WDR_CONTEXT_ELEMENT_SET which is a table type of IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT. You can loop through the WDR_CONTEXT_ELEMENT_SET, get into variable say node_elelement which is of type ref to If_Wd_Context_Element. Then you could use the method GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES of If_Wd_Context_Element which returns a structure with values of all the attributes in the selected row.
    If you need the row number, while populating the node you could have an additional attribute called rowno and populate it correctly. When you select the data using method GET_STATIC_ATTRIBUTES, you would get the appropriate row number.

  • How to get File Reference of a properties file from EJB

    Hi,
    I am using Sun App server 7 with Oracle 9i. I am keeping all my SQL statements in a properties file from which I am loading it while making a database operation from Stateless beans. My problem is I am not able to get the reference of the properties file. Here is the code through which I am getting the SQL statements loaded to a cache.
    String sqlFileName = "SQL.properties";
    sqlCache.load(new FileInputStream(sqlFileName));
    From the cache I am sending the SQL statement depending on the key value. But the problem is I have to keep the SQL.properties file on the App Server config directory of the instance where the server.xml file resides. Otherwise it is not able to find the properties file. But I don't want to put the properties file on the config directory of the server instance. Please help how to get the properties file from the packakge. My file is residing inside a package com.company.sql . Botht the properties file and the class accessing the file are residing in the same package. Please help how to get the reference of the file with out putting the file in the config directory.
    Thanks
    Amit Patnaik

    Just wanted to warn you of the hazards if you read a file from EJB
    So please make sure that these hazards will not affect your application. However the solution suggested to use getResourceStream() concurs with ejbSpec
    This snippet is from suns blueprint on ejb
    Why can't EJBs read and write files and directories in the filesystem? And why can't they access file descriptors?
    Enterprise beans aren't allowed to access files primarily because files are not transactional resources. Allowing EJBs to access files or directories in the filesystem, or to use file descriptors, would compromise component distributability, and would be a security hazard.
    Another reason is deployability. The EJB container can choose to place an enterprise bean in any JVM, on any machine in a cluster. Yet the contents of a filesystem are not part of a deployment, and are therefore outside of the EJB container's control. File systems, directories, files, and especially file descriptors tend to be machine-local resources. If an enterprise bean running in a JVM on a particular machine is using or holding an open file descriptor to a file in the filesystem, that enterprise bean cannot easily be moved from one JVM or machine to another, without losing its reference to the file.
    Furthermore, giving EJBs access to the filesystem is a security hazard, since the enterprise bean could potentially read and broadcast the contents of sensitive files, or even upload and overwrite the JVM runtime binary for malicious purposes.
    Files are not an appropriate mechanism for storing business data for use by components, because they tend to be unstructured, are not under the control of the server environment, and typically don't provide distributed transactional access or fine-grained locking. Business data is better managed using a persistence interface such as JDBC, whose implementations usually provide these benefits. Read-only data can, however, be stored in files in a deployment JAR, and accessed with the getResource() or getResourceAsStream() methods of java.lang.Class.
    Hope this info helps!

  • How to use 'Execute Procedure' to retrieve table data from an ext. MS SQL ?

    Hi,
    We have to call a stored procedure from an external MS SQL database . We are able to connect to the database and are able to successfully do a SQL (Select ) on the SQL tables. However to maintain data integrity and other security issues, we have to call a stored procedure on that database  from SAP. The stored rocedure will return a table which will contain multiple records .
    We have tried using the EXECUTE PROCEDURE command. However it returns SQL errors?
    Our SAP instance is on MS SQL.
    Please note we have gone through all SAP notes and SDN already. The query is not about connecting to the database. It is solely to find out the correct way for calling the stored procedure. The example in the SAP help documentation is for single IN and OUT parameters. We are able to do that successfully. Our requirement is to get a table back from the stored procedure.
    Please help with the correct syntax and code example if you have one.
    I would be glad to provide any other information that may be helpful.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to adjust the heigh of the table line

    Dear ABAPers,
           I have created the smartform.In that in MAIN window i created one table.
    In that table i created the table line.My requirement is i want to minimize the height of the table line.
    How to achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ashok.

    Hi Ashok,
    What Venkat said is correct. One more way to decrease the size of table line is by:
    Go to smartstyle - go to paragraph format which you are using for your texts.. If it is *, create another paragraph format.
    ANd in that format put line spacing as .1 MM (Less or more accordingt to your requirement)..
    Thanks and regards,

  • How to get information of 'include file', 'table', 'function' from the prog

    Hi all.
    I wanna know which 'include file', 'table', 'function' is used in the program.
    Firstly, I prepared user interface for entering the name of program.
    Secondarly,
    I made the way to confirm whether the program is exising or not by using TADIR.
    And I must use CROSS for getting information of function.
    But at the same time, I will use 'RS_GET_ALL_INCLUDES', 'RS_GET_TABLE_REFERENCES' for getting information of include file or table.
    After that, I have to report by using ALV.
    Then, I will use both of string getting from function by using above function and internal table getting from CROSS.
    How do I put together in  INTERNAL TABLE.

    hi,
    look F1 to abap command <b>scan</b> and <b>read report</b>
    A.

  • How to export multiple separate tracks as one song from Logic to iTunes?

    I know how to export the separate tracks that i have recorded, but i want to be able to save all of the tracks into one song, in other words, i want to be able to take my recording from logic 8 and export the entire thing, not just separate tracks, into a file that iTunes can read. Any help/suggestions?

    Select "Bounce" (upper right part of Logic arrange window) and make sure MP3 is check under "Destination". This will cause all tracks to be written to a single MP3 stereo file. However, if you have any tracks muted they will not be included in the bounce. Also, make sure no track is "Solo" else you will only get THAT track.
    I am assuming that you have mixed all the tracks and done any "mastering".
    Once the MP3 file is generated just drag it into iTunes, right click on the song, and then select Get Info and the "Info" tab to assign Artist/Album/etc.
    It is very easy......

  • How to export selected columns in a table using expdp of oracle10g

    Hi all..
    I have a table with 10 columns and i want to export only 4 columns(selected columns) data using expdp
    Pl. tell me if we can do this and if yes what is the syntax.
    Thanks..
    Sekhar

    That's not possible, you could use QUERY to specify where clause but not columns in select clause,
    for example,
    QUERY=employees:'"WHERE department_id > 10 AND salary > 10000"'
    you could use
    create table2export as select c1,c2,c3,c4 from tableof10columns;and export the temp table.
