How to export an InDesign newsletter to HTML code

a prospective client is using InDesign and asked if she could get a newsletter into our software app...in HTML code. any thoughts if this is possible, as i do not use the program. if possible, can you provide info on what to click so i can describe to her how to do it? many thanks... david

the goal is to get HTML code from InDesign into our email marketing application, so a (prospective) client can just copy / paste code in one step instead of having to use another program to re-write code and then copy it over. I'm not a user so I didn't know if InDesign could export to HTML.

  • How to di-activate CR 'Enter Key' HTML Code?  How to increase the the font of DW Help Explanations

    Hi,
    1.  How to di-activate <CR> 'Enter Key' HTML Code?
    2. How to increase the the font of DW Help Explanations?

    1.  How to di-activate <CR> 'Enter Key' HTML Code?
    Enter = paragraph <p>
    Shift + Enter = line break <br>
    To adjust browser default line spacing between paragraphs and headings, use CSS.
    p {
         text-indent: 4em;
         margin-top: 0;
         margin-bottom: 0;
         line-height: 1.2em;

    I used Notepad to create a text file, markup.html, that contains html code. How can I get Firefox to execute this code?
    Also, how can I use the <script> tag in the html code using the src attribute to execute code in a file written in Javascript?

    First guess is that you did not use an .html extension on the file. The file may well be ''name.html.txt''

  • How to use h:message to display HTML code in message from property file

    I am using <h:message for="somecomponentid"/> to display the error message for a validator attached to a component and the error message which resides in message property file contains HTML elements like <br> and
    The HTML doesnt get displayed properly and the code <br> etc is displayed instead.
    Is there a method to get h:message to display HTML elements correcly.
    [I know there is an h:outputFormat which has an escape parameter to allow HTML to be rendered correcly but it has no for parameter to specify the component id whose validation error message I want to display]

    Hello Ivan,
    Fortunately I have just recently found a solution to my problem by using code by a developer who had already had this problem in the past and who provided a patch on the Apache MyFaces jira site.
    See following link for the solution I downloaded and then used :
    http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MYFACES-155
    I believe they are intending to eventually release this in a future release of MyFaces extensions on this site.
    I used the escape attribute on the tag to allow 'escaped' html code in error messages to be used.
    Hope it solves your problem too..

  • How to export an InDesign PDF and get a hyperlink (but keep original formatting)?

    Hey guys - I apologize in advance because I am not particularly technology-inclined, so this question may or may not be very stupid.
    We are a small business and recently purchased InDesign CS6 as it is the only InDesign that will operate on our Mac system. I have made a small (about 30pp.) catalogue complete with text and images, that we wanted to export and turn into a hyperlink that our colleagues could click on (without having to download anything to their computer) and look at. I made the entire catalogue, and am able to export it to a PDF (yay!) but I'm not entirely sure how to get a hyperlink for it. I have clicked "Include Hyperlink" at the bottom when exporting it as a PDF (Print) as an Adobe representative told me to do, but when I open the PDF file from my desktop I see no hyperlink in the properties, etc. When I tried to export it as an HTML, the formatting and images were completely messed up (though it did open in a browser, as I wanted).
    Any help with this would be appreciated - I've been placed on hold for so long with Indesign that I can't take the background music anymore!

    You have to set your link as hyperlink. Open the Hyperlinks panel (Windows/Interactive/Hyperlinks), select the object and click on create new hyperlink in the bottom of the Hyperlinks panel, input the url. Export as PDF with hyperlink checkbox checked. It should works.

  • How to export an indesign file to XML?

    I am not understanding the process on how to make a XML file from an InDesign File?  I thought it was just simply exporting to XML but see somewhere you have to tag the file?  What does this mean and how to do it?

    InDesign can write out XML for you but it cannot know what tags should be applied where. By default, all text is not tagged -- and so, if you export to XML you get all tagged text, which is none at all! and you get an empty XML file (it only contains a "Root" tag).
    If you want 'everything' and (this is important!) you consistently used Paragraph and Character styles, you can automatically convert these to tags (1). For a narrower export, you can add a basic tag to the entire text and use Find/Change to tag other items, or add them manually.
    (1) If you did not, here is a good reason to do so in the future. There are lots of other good reasons as well.

  • How do export a Pages newsletter so that it opens in any mailprogram?

    I tried exporting it as a PFD, a Jpeg, etc....
    But then it appears as an attachment in most mailprograms, people have to click on it in order to see it.
    Obviously I want them to see the newsletter right away when they open the message....
    HELP!!!!

    Obviously I want them to see the newsletter right away when they open the message....
    This is difficult to do, because you are down to working with HTML or with plain text, if you want a newsletter to be rendered by an e-mail application.
    There is the further limitation that people tend not to want HTML in their e-mail, so they set up their e-mail applications to turn HTML into plain text.
    Perhaps your best bet is to set up a newsletter as an HTML page on your site, and send people a link to the HTML page.
    It is possible that people do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, but they are sure to have an HTML reader installed (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera ....).
    If you pick PDF, disable the checkbox 'Use Ligatures' in the document Inspector. If you pick a font from Apple, Adobe or Microsoft with many ligatures, you cannot search them after saving into PDF.

  • How to export spool file into HTML file

    Hi,
    I have one Oracle procedure which meets our business requirement. I am keeping the output data into a log file and I am sharing that log file to the users.
    Sample Code:
    spool path\logile.log
    declare
    begin
    dbms_output.Put_line('output will come here');
    end;
    Now I want to spool the same output data into a HTML file and need to share with the users.
    Can any one please guide me, how to export our spool data into HTML format?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello 909127,
    welcome to the forum.
    This is the forum for the tool Oracle Reports, not a general forum for reporting. Your question might be better posted in {forum:id=75} or {forum:id=144}.
    Nevertheless you need to give us more information, how your output looks like now and what you expect in HTML.

  • Web Intelligence: Save Report as PDF and with embedded HTML code

    Hi all.
    Sorry but I'm not able to find any post about this matter, please feel free to provide links if you know existing topics about this problem.
    We created a beautiful report with HTML5 code embedded into a blank cell and we are now trying to export it in a printable format (e.g.: PDF or HTML).
    As you know (as per manual information) it is not possible to export a report with embedded HTML code and keeping it in the output (cell with embedded HTML code is rendered blank).
    My question is: is there a known workaround or an alternative solution to export the report and keep its content?
    Print screen is not a valid option :-P
    Thanks for the support or any suggestions

  • Change html code in page you're viewing automatically

    How to make firefox automatically edit certain html code on certain web pages
    Like on webpages I can right click inspect element and it will allow me to delete things off the page.
    I want this to happen automatically for certain webpages when containing certain html code

    I tend to write custom scripts for this sort of thing, but for a couple of more general purpose removers, you could investigate these:
    * "Remove it Permanently" can be trained to remove items from a page every time you visit. I believe it works by right-clicking what you want to remove. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remove-it-permanently/
    * A review on that page recommended Element Hiding Helper, which is a companion add-on for Adblock Plus. If you already use Adblock Plus, this is probably a more efficient combination. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/elemhidehelper/

  • How do I link to Anchor Text from browser to PDF file exported from InDesign?

    I see that this question was asked previously but not answered:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3737541
    I need a way to link to topics (from an HTML page) within a structured PDF file generated from InDesign, i.e. one that has an interactive bookmarks
    panel, that doesn't break the links when the file is updated.
    In particular, I don't want to refer to:
    *  page numbers because the document will repaginate when it is updated, breaking existing links
    * named destinations that are numeric as addition/deletion of topics renumbers the named destinations, breaking the links.
    Is there any option in InDesign that creates named destinations derived from bookmark titles as that would seem to solve my problem?
    I have a similar need, but I have not been able to find an answer anywhere online, even after a several hours of research.
    I am on contract with General Electric to develop a UI Style Guide for an international team of developers. My client wants to be able to distribute the Style Guide as a PDF document, but needs to provide links to specific topics when submitting a "Story" in an Agile development environment to the programmers.
    Ideally, I would like to be able to create "named destinations" in InDesign such that I can provide the client with a list of URLs similar to this format:
    file:\\StyleGuide\Test1-20131024a.pdf\#nameddest=AnchorText-01
    However, I can not figure out how to create "named destinations" in the PDF file from the InDesign file in which I have created the Anchor Text in the Hyperlinks tab.
    Alternately, the client would be satisfied with the ability to link to specific bookmarks in the exported PDF file that have been derived from the configuration of the Table of Contents styles, but my research has led me to believe that it is not possible to hyperlink from a browser window to a bookmark in a PDF file (only to specific page numbers, search word lists, named destinations, and comments) as described here: http://blogs.adobe.com/tcs/2011/01/tcs-specific/linking-to-a-page-within-a-pdf-and-more.ht ml
    Having been using InDesign since 1988, when it was PageMaker, I would prefer to use it to provide GE with the most attractive deliverable, but they are now leaning heavily toward having me licensed with Madcap Flare, which has this capability built in:
    http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare9/Default.htm#Nav_Links/Named_Destinations/Creating _Named_Destinations.htm
    Please help me to find a solution that will allow me to continue using InDesign for this project.
    Thank you!

    Follow-up post (solution is not available):
    I have just completed a phone call with Gaurev Sethi of Adobe escalated technical support in which I shared my screen to explain and demonstrate the desire to link from an external URL to a specific location within a PDF file that has been exported from InDesign. After 40 minutes, during which I was placed on hold a few times while he consulted with his team, it was determined that the desired functionality is not supported in InDesign and has been identified as a limitation of the software.
    In researching alternate documentation software that supports PDF export, I discovered that Madcap Software supports this functionality in its Flare product:
    http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare9/Default.htm#Nav_Links/Named_Destinations/Creating _Named_Destinations.htm
    Note that linking via URL to a bookmarked location within a PDF is not supported:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/tcs/2011/01/tcs-specific/linking-to-a-page-within-a-pdf-and-more.ht ml
    More about parameters that can be specified to open PDF files are available here:
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters.pdf
    Although the above link is for a previous version of Acrobat, I could find no evidence to the contrary in the current SDK documentation.

    How to export book pdf using custom presets for all book files in indesign using javascript.

    Hi jackkistens,
    Try the below js code.
    Note: you can change your preset name in below (e.g, Your preset name).
    var myBook = app.activeBook;
    myBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File (myBook.filePath+"/"+myBook.name.replace(/\.indb/g, ".pdf")), false, "Your preset name", myBook.bookContents, "Book_PDF", false);

    var myBook = app.activeBook;
    myBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File (myBook.filePath+"/"+myBook.name.replace(/\.indb/g, ".pdf")), false, "[High Quality Print]", myBook.bookContents, "Book_PDF", false);

  • Anyone know how to export a PDF from InDesign so it is "click to go to next page" instead of "scroll to go to next page"?

    Anyone know how to export a PDF from InDesign so it is "click to go to next page" instead of "scroll to go to next page"?

    I don't use the latest InDesign, but in the past ID's options for exporting to PDF did not allow setting how a PDF should be viewed once exported.  However, these settings can be adjusted in Acrobat through Preferences: check out Page Layout and Zoom under Page Display.
