How to export transparent clipart for general audience?

I'm having to take various original simple bw and color vector art and create clipart for use by the lowest common denominator (people using Word and PowerPoint, etc.). I've tried exporting to EPS, WMF, and PNG and all of them have white backgrounds when imported into PowerPoint except the EPS (which I fear may not print right on non postscript printers).
I just looked at some clipart that I exported to WMF last year and some of it is transparent and some of it isn't. All of it started as vector art in Illustrator. I'm not sure if I'm missing an option somewhere, but I really need to consistently export the art.
Also, does anyone know of a script that would allow me to batch save/export these formats for a folder full of art?
I'm using AI CS3.

When you export the file from Illustrator as PNG, you are given the option of having a transparent background. This is the best bet for Word and PP.

  • Exporting transparent pages for the iPad

    Confusing.
    Baffled.
So bear with me as I attempt to explain what I'm so earnestly trying to figure out is even possible; and if so, how to do it..
I'm attempting to export an epub for the iPad that contains images [without a background] from Photoshop. In Photoshop, the layers build on top of one another. (Think of physical transparencies printed out with different images and as they stack on top of one another they build a conglomerate image)
So in theory, I want to export these pages from InDesign as transparencies, that when the page is turned on the iPad, you can see through it as the images stack on top of one another.
It seems confusing to me because of the front and back of each page in InDesign.. It's like dealing with two pages instead of one. For example, in a facing pages layout, if I had an image on the 3rd page [lets imagine that's on the right in the layout], would the 4th page [on the left] be showing the transparent side of the 3rd page? I just want it to be read as a literal transparent page [the 3rd and 4th page conglomerate] that you can see through to the 5th.
Is this possible? Do I need to set a certain transparency option in InDesign when I export?
Or is this just not feasible..
    Please help.
    I'm lost.
    Thank you

You're saying you want your epub to look as if it's printed on transparent acetate? I don't do epub, myself, but I don't think that's going to happen. If it were possible, you'd have to specify an opaque page (the equivalent of a piece of white paper) for all "normal" pages to keep them readable, and that's just something ID is not set up to do.
ID simply doesn't care what sort of stock you print on. What is on the page is what will output to the medium on which your doc is printed (ID is first and foremost an application designed to make layouts for print). Nothing is genreated in terms of background other than what you yourself might add. A PDF is theoretically has no additional white background, but Acrobat displays one so your desktop doesn't show through. I imagine the same thing happens with epub readers. If no background is specified, the reader provides something.

  • I need help. How to export split track for Final Cut Pro 7 Thanks

I need help. I have edited a film and now the company I have made the film for want a split track of it. I have no idea how to export a split track off Final Cut Pro 7 and I need simple language to explain it to me as I am a beginner. Thanks

I assume you have multiple tracks of audio? And the audio is distributed discretely over these tracks (sync sound on tracks 1 and 2, sound effects on tracks 3 and 4, music on tracks 5 and 6 for example)?
Then duplicate your sequence by clicking on the icon for your sequence in the FCP browser and control-clicking on it. From the drop-down menu choose Duplicate. Double click on the duplicate sequence you just created to load it to the timeline and canvas.
Now, working on the copy you just made of your finished sequence, click anywhere on the timeline, and type Command + 0 {zero} to bring up your sequence settings. Click on the Audio Outputs Tab.
Once the Audio Output Tab opens, set the Outputs to the desired number of discrete tracks you want to export - in this case I will set it to 8, as I have sync sound on tracks 1 & 2, Voice Over on tracks 3 & 4, Sound Effects on tracks 5 & 6 and Music on tracks 7 & 8.
Once I do that the 8 tracks appear. I set them all to Dual Mono as I want them to be discrete tracks:
Once I am done, I click OK and return to the far left side of the timeline where the audio selectors are, and carefully control - clicking in the empty space above the lock symbol,
From the drop down menu I assign the output of each track - track 1 to to output track 1, track 2 to output track 2, doing so to each track:
You need to set the output for each track. Once all my track assignments are done, I go to the menu File > Export . . . > QuickTime Movie and export my sequence, but now it is exporting with 8 discrete tracks of audio.
To do a quick check that everything is OK, re-import the movie you just exported back into FCP, and open it in the Viewer and you will see that it does indeed have the multi-tracks, as 8 mono track tabs appear at the top of the viewer.
Now give that QuickTime a name that includes "Split Tracks" in the title and copy it to your delivery drive.

I would like to export the execution command line windows batch file and text paramater file for over 700 BODS Jobs in a Project folder.
Is there a command line tool or BODS Utility to export execution commands for all jobs in a project?

if you look at the command line most of the information is fixed like job server, port etc., the main thing that you need is the GUID of the job, that you can get from AL_LANG Repo table. You can write a script or a DS job to build this command line and write to a bat and txt file for each job

  • WUI Specification - How to Define Custom Subview for General Data?

SAP System Component Ver.: EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0
In relation to Customizing activity "Define Subviews for General Data" under Logistics - General > Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) > PLM Web User Interface > Recipe Development > Specification Management > Specification > Specification Master
General Data - Specification Management - SAP Library
If possible, what is the best approach to add a Custom Subview?
So far, I've done the ff.:
    1. Create Custom Subview ZWDC (Implemented interface = IF_FPM_UI_BUILDING_BLOCK) and its Z config
    2. Append a fixed value to standard SAP Domain /PLMB/SPC_TAB_HEAD (ex. ZSUBVIEW)
    3. Specify subview ZSUBVIEW to be displayed according to the specification type in the Customizing activity (above)
    4. Create enhancement implementation in standard SAP Component Configuration /PLMU/WDC_SPC_OIF_CFG (in /PLMU/WDA_SPC_OIF: /PLMU/WDA_SPC_OIF_CFG)
    5. Add Subview ZSUBVIEW under Main View General Data.
After saving the step 5 above, the system automatically renamed the Subview ID entered.
    Ex. ZSUBVIEW became ZSUBVIEW_0050568F00051EE480A96E03E55B9E5E
When I ran Display Specification in WUI for the Spec Type where subview ZSUBVIEW has been defined, the ZSUBVIEW does not appear.
My hunch is that it is caused by /PLMU/WDC_SPC_OIF_CFG Subview ID (i.e. system-generated ZSUBVIEW_0050568F00051EE480A96E03E55B9E5E) not matching the "Define Subviews for General Data" setting in Customizing (i.e. ZSUBVIEW).
As Alternative solution, I changed step 4 above by creating Z copies of the std app config /PLMU/WDA_SPC_OIF_CFG and comp config /PLMU/WDC_SPC_OIF_CFG, before doing step 5. In step 5, the system did not automatically rename the Subview ID entered. An additional step (6) is to change settings via transaction LPD_CUST, for app /PLMU/WDA_SPC_OIF config from /PLMU/WDA_SPC_OIF_CFG to the Z copy. With this, the ZSUBVIEW appears.
I would still prefer the enhancement implementation but I couldn't make it work and don't know what I'm missing. Any expert thoughts/inputs out there?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to export chapter screenshots for printing?

My office is working up a large collection of DVDs in Encore. As part of the job, our manager wants DVD cases that display thumbnails of the poster frames located at each chapter stop (chapters are set as automatic intervals in Encore). She saw that cases with thumbnail chapter images are provided by some of the big video companies like YesVideo when they make DVDs for customers, and decided she wants them for this job.
The problem is, we cannot figure out how to get screenshots of every chapter stop exported from Encore in an expeditious manner. The closest we have come to a solution is manually navigating to each chapter stop and using the "save frame as file" option. But for 24 stops per DVD, doing each chapter like this--for many DVDs--will take forever!
Is there a way to automate this? I can't believe Encore doesn't have a way to save all the chapter stop images in a given timeline as JPEG files. I'm used to automating so much in Photoshop!
Or, if there isn't an Encore way, does anyone know of another program that can do this? We found one called DVD Labeler that does something similar, but it doesn't do exactly what we need.
All advice is appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Stan--thanks for your help.
Believe me, I'm all for options that make it easier! But I'm not sure I understand why your method is easier.
Yes to your questions--set intervals, the beginning chapter is not special, poster frame is the same as the chapter.
We are doing exactly the same thing you describe doing in Premiere--just in Encore instead. We're using the "next chapter" button to jump to the chapter locations, and using "save frame to file" instead of "export frame."
No, it's not automatic, but for 24 chapters per DVD, it's still plenty time-consuming. So I'm not sure why your Premiere method would be preferable to what we're doing. But if I'm missing something, please let me know. :-)

  • Need advice/guidance on how to export .FLV videos for my website.

    Can anyone help me?
I am trying to embbed a .swf/.flv video into my website,
using dreamweaver and flash cs4. But when i do so, and i load the
video, the .FLV playback componet wont load or the browser dosent
even try to load the data at all, it just plays the video. So users
cant mute, have volum control, pause, stop or anything. Can someone
please help me? i looked all over the net for 2 days and cant find
a single turtorial or anything. I know alot of website use .FLV but
how? and how do you export it?

You need three parts for the flv playback: the swf, the flv,
and the video player skin swf. If you create the flv from your
Flash movie by importing the original video, Flash should make all
of those parts for you. Upload each of these files to your server
and the file should play as expected.
Can you describe in more detail what you are doing that may
    be different?

  • How to export 16:9 for auto 4:3 letterboxing?!

I am editing for a TV show and the TV station says that I need to have it formatted for 4:3 and 16:9 BUT they said they only want it in 16:9 HD and to export it so that it will automatically Letterbox when played on a 4:3 TV! Now I don't see how that would be something I would do in exporting, but more something they would at the TV station! I'm not sure if anyone has any ideas or any knowledge it would be incredibly helpful!

You have a lot of mixed messages here, but the most critical is "they said they only want it in 16:9 HD".
Basically you'll deliver 1920x1080 or 1280x720 depending on the station.
The reference to "have it formatted for 4:3 and 16:9" likely is for title graphics. This is called center-cut safe, keeping graphics inside a 4:3 title safe area within the 16:9 image. Center-cut safe is almost always a requirement for broadcast since the image can be viewed in several different ways depending on the station and receiving television settings (which are out of your control).
A 16:9 HD image will automatically letterbox on a 4:3 television IF the owner of the TV has set it up to do so (typically the default). Neither you nor the TV station has control of how the owner/viewer sets up a TV. A 16:9 HD file can not be created to automatically letterbox, that is a function of the TV.
Now, one situation that may change all these interpretations of your mixed messages is delivery in Europe. I believe Europe prefers a 16:9 image squeezed into a 4:3 anamorphic format that when displayed on 16:9 TV is widescreen and on a 4:3 TV is letterboxed. The main point of confusion between that possibility and your statement above is the 4:3 anamorphic can NOT be High Def.

  • How to Exporting MP3's for Transcription?

How do I export audio from a video file (Dvc Pro HD 59.94fps) to an Mp3 in such a way that the time-code matches the original video file?
I have been asked to create MP3's to be sent out for transcription. It is easy enough to send the video to compressor and covert to MP3 but the time-code on the Mp3 doesn't match Is it even possible to make the time-code match so that when the transcriber is done there will be a time-coded transcript?
I am running Final Cut Studio 2

Even if you export to aiff, I don't believe the format supports a timestamp. You'll probably have to create an audio-only quicktime file, which actually will allow you to use mp3 compression on the audio if you want, or a WAV file, which supports a timestamp. Wave export is available with a quicktime conversion export from FCP
Also consider that it's easy to make your sequence start at 00:00:00:00 to make it match the mp3, if that works for your workflow, thought there might be other reasons not to do this.
    Hope this helps

  • How to Export in 60fps for 29.97 NTSC

I made some animation in after effects where there is a lot of fast movement. Now when i export it in 29.97 fps it jerks in places where the movement is very fast.
I tried changing the composition settings to 60fps and exported it in NTSC 29.97 fps and the jerks were still evident. When i changed the export setting to 60fps then the animation became very smooth.
I wanted to know how i can keep the animation smooth, but which is playable on NTSC 29.97 tv screens.
(I have noticed animation on many channels where there is a lot of fast movements, but there are no jerks. how can I achieve this?)
    Thank in advance

    >I am viewing it on my monitor and the output will be aired as well as
    >available online. so it needs to work on both.
That's somewhat of a contradiction. Fields will always look jerky on the computer whereas the same is true for progressively encoded stuff on normal TV screens that expect fields... In short: you need two separate renders each with their individual settings. And though you seem to think otherwise, motionblur will actually make the animation look more eye-friendly on TV. If it's too strong, simply reduce the shutter angle. Other than that you can only blame your hardware. Either your discs or the processor are not fast enough to decode the video file or your graphics card is underpowered to handle the required data rates and refresh cycle. Especially the latter can be a killer on an otehrwise powerful system. So check whether you are using hardware acceleration for playback and if al lsettings are correct. Reduce the data rates of the preview files if necessary to circumvent the other issues.

  • How to Export 320x240 .mov for Web, but darker and more saturated?

Hi, I am trying to improve my Web .mov movies.
My goal in this thread is to learn a good way to simply set a darker black and bump the saturation.
I don't understand what I am doing wrong because the movies on apple.com always have a good black point and great saturation and my workflow of exporting leaves my movies looking light and washed out from my original.
I recall I have also tried Compressor with similar results.
My monitors are hardware profiled to 2.2/6500.
    From FCP 6.05:

Re: h.264 gamma and/or color off
Posted: Mar 14, 2008 4:11 PM in response to: Dave Mauriello
I have been spending the better part of 2 days trying to figure this out. So far I have learned that Quicktime is displaying a gamma shift in the rendered video and that the actual file is okay, it is quicktime that is messing it up. This also goes for anything that uses quicktime, like safari, itunes, and similar players that use the Core Video hardware acceleration. Computers or Players that don't use hardware acceleration will show the same file correctly when played. But of course this is still an issue for anyone viewing your video on another computer with hardware acceleration enabled. To them your video will look faded.
It happens far worse on windows machines where the gamma is set to 2.2 (my mac was set to 2.2 until I found this nasty H.264 bug in quicktime rendering.) In the 2.2 gamma environment the shift in brightness is very pronounced. In the 1.8 mac gamma environment, it is less pronounced but still problematic enough that many of the studios that I know won't use Quicktime or the H.264 codec until this bug is corrected.
This problem is documented all over the web and it has caused major headaches for a lot of people for somewhere around 3 years. So far Apple hasn't done anything to fix it (or can't fix it) even though it is a persistent problem, especially for people who calibrate their monitors or people on PC's.
It's really frustrating and after hours of scouring the net for an acceptable solution, I still haven't found anything that doesn't involve simply not using quicktime or h.264. Here is one (partial) solution I found:
    This tip from Mitch Gates:
As you may have noticed, the current implementation of the H.264 compressor for Quicktime has the nasty side-effect of raising the gamma or black levels of the resulting movie file. In order to fix this you must have Quicktime Pro (otherwise the fix will not hold since you can't save the updated .mov). Here are the steps?
    Open the QT
    Go to "Window/Show Movie Properties"
Select "Video Track", then click the "Visual Settings" tab
At the bottom left, change the transparency to "Blend" then move the slider to 100
Change the transparency to "Straight Alpha"
Close the Movie Properties window, then play or scrub the QT. Your black levels should now look correct
    Save over old .mov
This is for PC's. On the mac you change the transparency to "composition."
The problem with this solution however is that doing this disables the settings that allow fast playback (playing the movie before it is completely downloaded.) Another issue with this solution is that, while it fixes the look of the video in Quicktime, VLC player still exhibits the 'washed out' look on the same file. Finally, this "solution" isn't actually a solution at all.
An interesting thing about this is that the video file itself is not really washed out as far as I can tell. There are a few things that point to this. One, exporting the h.264 file and changing the codec to "Animation" or "None" corrects the gamma shift and returns the colors to where they should be, but this increases file size dramatically. Second, I noticed that when I select the h.264 file and choose "get info" the preview thumbnail shows the poster frame with correct colors. Third, when I put the h.264 file online Safari shows it all washed out but FireFox shows it correctly. Strange...
At this point I think the only viable solution is to do this:
    MacInTouch Reader
I too have been plagued by this H264 problem for the past 2 years it seems.
I have a suspicion that if we polled the users experiencing this effect that it would result they all use custom or modified Display Profiles in the Display System Preferences.
My temporary (and somewhat silly workaround) has been to change my display profile to the standard "Cinema HD Display" instead of my user-created "Cinema HD Display Calibrated" profile.
It does alter the gamma of my display to a unpleasing value, but after changing it, the H264 export works beautifully. No gamma shift at all.
I have read all the suggestions on trying the quicktime "filter then colorsync" export and always got unsatisfactory results. My silly workaround always produces the best results. I just have to change the dang setting back after I export so my eye don't burn out of my skull.
So it all comes down to a gamma shift on the part of Quicktime's render of H.264. You would think that after so many years of this issue going on Apple would have fixed it since they have documented that they know of the problem. A little baffling.
If you want to research this further, as I will continue to, just type "h.264 gamma" into google and you will find a ton of fellow frustrated users trying to figure this out. Most just switch to Sorenson 3 it seems or "un-calibrate" their displays when doing the render export. None of this is perfect unfortunately and I find myself using "Animation" even though the file size is insanely huge. It is better that having upset clients telling me that the video is washed out.

  • How to Export Aperture Library for Use by Windows PC

Hello and thanks in advance for your help. I have recently returned to using a Mac after years of PC use. I'm using Parallels for some apps that are PC only, an astronomy program, TheSky6, for example. One of the first things I did was purchase Aperture and move my 40GB photo library into it. "Move" is the operative word; I didn't want to use up too much disk space so my photo library now exists only in Aperture. What I didn't realize, at the time I was happily deleting my Photoshop Album library, was that Aperture creates its own universe, and the actual photo files are no longer easily accessible, buried as they are, so to speak, within Aperture folders containing proprietary tags, etc.
Is there an easy way to recreate the folders with just the jpegs, tiffs, raws photo files and nothing else? I realize of course that I could do this photo-by-photo, but it would take an awfully long time. I have tried exporting the projects, but they just export as aperture projects, so that didn't work. I also tried using Photoshop Album (on the pc side), hoping that it would just import the photo files and ignore all the aperture stuff--that didn't work either. A wonderful Apple Script program called "Aperture iPhoto Sync" did work somewhat, but it kept giving me errors before it was finished, and I couldn't keep track of what had copied and what had not.
Learning from my mistake (the story of my life!), I have realized that I would like to keep the photo files accessible to a PC as well. I keep thinking I am missing something really simple here. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

May I humbly and quietly suggest to read the manual before doing anything drastic.
It would have been better to import all your images as referenced masters. Images would have stayed in the location they were in and the Aperture library would only have contained links or references to them. This would not have used up extra hard drive space.
A good site for Aperture is the Bagelturf site.
Have a look at this article in which Bagelturf explains "relocate and consolidate" of images.
    http://homepage.mac.com/bagelturf/aparticles/ref/refrecon/refrecon.html
Considering your objectives, using referenced masters is the best option for you.

    Hello,
I have a flash header i am building for a website. The layers i am exporting for web have a rough white edge (gif.s - save for web). Basically I am trying to transition the flower group to another color saved from a layer in Photoshop.
Would a path help? The image in the library is set to allow smoothing.
Here is a link to a screen shot in a new window.
