How to expose JSR168 portlets from existing JSF webapp?

Hi all,
I have a web application with JSF components, and a set of JSP pages that use these components. In WEB-INF, I also have a standard portlet.xml which describes what JSP page to expose for the declared portlet(s).
Is there any administrative interface in the WebLogic Portal that would automatically detect these portlets as soon as I deploy the webapp, so that I can display them ? My idea is that as soon as this webapp with the portlet.xml is deployed, my portlets should be added to the list of available portlets somewhere. Is that so with the WebLogic portal ? I'm not sure I understand your question. It sounds like you have JSF (faces) components and JSP pages; do you also have JSR168 portlets? The WEB-INF/portlet.xml file should have nothing to do with JSF / JSP pages; it is used only to declare JSR168 portlets.
To try and answer your question though, if you have JSR168 portlets listed in WEB-INF/portlet.xml, these portlets should show up in the administrative tools when the webapp deploys.

How to format one partition from existing filesysem

I want to install ASM on my RHEL machine. There is one disk which has been partitioned into regular filesystem as follows:

Dangerous - the default partition type of a newly created partition is ext3. Which means the kernel will view that partition as a regular file system - and will attempt to mount and use it. A sysadmin will not know, looking at the type of partition, that it is not an ext file system, but in fact a raw device.
One needs to avoid this confusion - as it easily can trash your entire database's storage (diskgroup). With the only option being to restore backups that likely is out of date, or non-existent. (given the lackadaisical attitude to use a file system partition as a raw device, it is a reasonable assumption that backups are in a similar sorry state)
PS. and the question was how to use /dev/hda2 - you described removing that partition and then using /dev/hda1 (which will likely trash the root file system).

solution in VS 2008.I was struck how can we copy existing solution to new solution on TFS.
Please let me know will this process work? and also how can we create a new solution without losing any files.

Hi haritha,
If you've already created the update-rules, try to create cube, than make a mapping between ODS & Cube.
If done,
1. Right-Click on ODS, find the menu update data to data target.
2. Choose for Init.
If you wanna make it update data to cube automatically, then you must setup the setting in ODS.
1. double-click on it.
2. In setting, you'll see the option for "automatically update data to data target".
3. Choose for it.

I have installed MUSE and can access the server via FTP. I've downloaded the site's html files and assets, but these are useless in MUSE.
How do I create or get the whole site's MUSE file from the server so I can make the edits and put back on her server?

Hello,
You would need the .muse file (source file of website). And you can get it only from the person who created it.
It must b saved on their local machine. This file is not uploaded on the server via FTP. And you cannot use the .html and other output files as the changes need to be made in that .muse file.

If you downloaded Agilent 816x VXI Plug&Play Driver, you can use it in CVI immediately. You don't need conver anything for CVI. fp file is part of CVI driver.
In project window select menu item Instrument>>Load. Load the hp816x.fp. Add #include to your C code and you can use all function from driver.
Help about converting fp for labview describes how easy create LabVIEW driver. This convertion make llb file with VIs for every function from Fp panel. These VIs call functions from hp861x_32.dll. If you are using CVI you don't need do it. This help is only for LabVIEW users.

How do I send information from one JSF page when the navigation rule redirects it to another?
When JSF navigation does a forward I can use request.setAttribute() in the from-page and then use request.getAttribute() in the to-page, but this doesn't work with <redirect/>.

JSR168 portlet packaging?

From the JSR168 spec, (which is similar to how other portals seem to behave
with their proprietary APIs), a JSR168 portlet application appears to be a
WAR with a portlet.xml and web.xml conforming to the requirements of the
spec, that can then be installed in any portal.
From my superficial knowledge based on skimming the WL8.1 portal docs
recently, WL portlet development appears to be done within a Portal WAR such
that the portlet(s) are just components of the portal war itself.
How are these two supposed to work together in the WLP env? Say I develop a
couple JSR168 portlets in my own Java environment (emacs :-) and then WAR
them up and install them into Jetspeed-2 and another 168 compliant portal
when available (eg, IBM's 5.something). I believe those would accept my
portlet WAR and keep them in that WAR and just reference them from their
Portals. How would WL8.1.x handle such development (outside of Workshop/WL)
and deployment to a WL8.1.x portal? Do I have to merge my JSR168 based
portlet WAR (and thus a web.xml and portlet.xml merge) into the Portal WAR
(eg, if I want to ship a script to deploy my portlet WAR into an existing
WL8.1 portal?) or will WL8.1.x be able to reference a Portlet WAR outside of
a Portal WAR?

BTW, I (and I assume Joe) think JSR168 is a good thing - and it's great that
WLP has the first prototype of it out there - don't get me wrong, I like it,
I'd just prefer if it were easier to deploy to given portlets coming in from
multiple sources being added into an existing portal. From Joe's case, he
probably doesn't want to have to merge the portlet.xml files. From my case
as a supplier of portlets, I'd rather not have to have to create different
install tools/docs/procedures for my customers for each portal vendor now
that I can have standard portlets based on JSR168...

model where portal deployment involves several web apps with portlets
aggregated by a portal deployed in one of those webapps. The pitfall
of
this approach is that webapps depend on each other to work correctly -
which is against the spirit of webapps. A deployer should be able to
deploy/undeploy any webapp without affecting the functionality ofother
webapps - which would be case in the model you describe. In addition,
there are security issues that the deployer must be aware of.
Having said this, if your portlets are already bundled into a WARfile,
you need to merge the portlets into the portal webapp. Or, you couldlet
WL convert your webapp into a portal webapp. We don't intend tosupport
portlet referencing from other webapps.
