How to find out the parameter type of a parameterized object?

Hi,
I've got a list containing instances of a parameterized class. The parameters of the instances can be different. When using the instances, I need to know the types of the parameters. How can I find them out?

Look at the first item in the List and see what it is?
I'm not trying to be funny. Generic information is compile time only, the types of the parameters are not generally available at run time.
You can find out the bounds on the types, if any, but not the actual types.

When you use me23n to display one PO document. In the invoice tab, there is one text field named 'tax code' whose value could be T1, T2, J1, J2 and so on. Beside the text field, there is one button named taxes. When you click the button taxes, it will show you the condition type of the tax code. For example, if the tax code is 'T1', then its condition type 'mwcn'.
I want to use the information on the PO to find out the value 'mwcn' of the tax code 'T1'. Could anybody help to describe the logic?it looks like the value is saved in the table konp. But I don't know the logic. Please describe. Thank you.

How to find out the list of available idoc type in SAP. It will be good if i get to know the table name where all the idoc type definitions are gets stored.
Say i have some requirement and for that requirement how i can find the proper idoc type to be used. (assume functional consultant is not providing that information)

Hi prasanna,
we can get SAP idoc types in tcode we31.For every requirment there will be different message type.
For example we want idoc type for account invoice receipt.
First find out message type for that purpose which can be found in we81-ACC_INVOICE_RECEIPT.
Get this message type and search in we82 where we can find message type and idoc type linkage.
try this way.

You can't consistently, but a lot of files have identifying characteristics in the first few bytes that make it easier.
There are utilities to do this, but I could have sworn that someone wrote a Java library to do it as well. As always, I suggest that you poke around http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/
Or do a Google if Jakarta doesn't pan out.

How to find out the properties of a field's/object's?

I have field (say, its name is field_1) in my_form and i am coloring yellow by using below code of initialization event:
this.ui.oneOfChild.border.fill.color.value = "255,255,191"; (Actually, just for differentiating / tracing back purpose here am assigning this yellow color to this field, you can suggest me any thing else that marks / tags this field (i can not populate a value, bcz its visible to user), so that in the CHANGE event of this field, again i want to check/get/know that whether this field is tagged/marked or not)

note that as in the last - file names are ignored, it works by checking the beginning of each file's data against it's database, and as in #2 it can sometimes see a lot more than just the file format.

We've a requirement that we need to find out the size of a java object at run time, is there a direct java API to get the size of a composite object in memory?
Here is my requirement: We are adding string objects (which is an xml string of considerable size) into a List. After reaching certain size limit (lets say 5MB) of the list i need to put this data into DB as a CLOB. So every time I add a string object to the list, I need to see if the total size of the list exceeds the limit and if yes, flush the results into DB.
I am not sure if java has a direct API for this, if not what is the beast way to do it, it s critical requirement for us.
It would be really great if someone could help us out.

Could you explain your actual requirement a little more fully.
1. Is each individual string a separate XML string? Or is it just a fragment? Why would you just concatenate them together into a CLOB? That won't produce valid XML and it won't let you easily separate the pieces again later. So provide a simple example showing some strings and how you need to manipulate them.
2. Are you using these xml strings in Java at all? Or are you just loading them into the database?
For example if you are just loading them into the database you don't need to create a list. Just create a CLOB in Java and append each string to the CLOB. Before you append each one you can check to see if the new string will put you over your length limit. If it will then you write the CLOB to the database, empty the CLOB and start appending again to the new clob instance.
If you explain what you are really trying to do we might be able to suggest some better ways to do it.

Are dd/MM/yyyy and MM/dd/yyyy the actual formats you'll get? Let me ask you this: If somebody showed you the string (on a piece of paper) "12/05/2005" how would you know if it was Dec. 5 or 12 May?
Answer: You wouldn't. You can't without some additional information.
And if you can't know, then neither can Java.

at least you need to know the application you are talking about. Then you can goto that particular area and evaluate the content (cubes, infoobjects, infosources, datasources). It will surely give you an idea of the fulfilment of your requirements by the content.

In my Java web project, the multi-lingual issue on the JSP pages is handled by JSTL. It works fine so far for any input messages. However, some messages come from the container. It is needed to find out the browser's country and language settings inside of the container. My question is how to find out the settings?

A28. Yes. HTTP/1.1 defines the details of how content negotiation works, including language content.
WWW browsers send an Accept-Language request header specifying which languages are preferred for responses. This technique works fairly well, although some versions of Netscape Navigator send an improperly formatted request parameter. Also, switching language preferences in either Navigator or IE 4 doesn't always "take" without first deleting a language hint.
Few sites do content-negotiation on language, and interestingly enough I do not know of any major portals doing this. One site that does is Sun's documentation library at SunDocs. Debian.org does a very nice job of using Apache content negotiation wih languages and also has some nice help info too on Setting the Default Language.
Apache's Content Negotiation features will select the right page to return, whether HTML or image file. Annoyingly, the match logic is very literal, so a browser request for en-us will not match a server entry of en except as a last resort. Any other exact match will win over en, even if en-us was first preference.
There are 2 ways of doing content negotiation with Apache: type or variant maps and multiviews.

In selection screen (parameter) user will give input TXT file from presentation server to upload to SAP. I need to capture the file name only but not the path and need to concatenate with date stamp and need to download error log in XLS file to presentation server.
