How to format a not well formed xml into well formed

Hi,
Here's what I'm trying to do: I have a build a report based on query results. In the query result, one field is a CLOB (which contains XML. The XML contains two tags - "description" and "count"). I want to read (&parse) the XML and store the "description" and "count" in a hashmap. But when I try to parse it, I end up in an error. I'm currently using XmlParse but I got an error "The markup following the root element should be well formed." I immediately used IsXml() to find out if the XML I am reading is well formed. And the answer is "NO".
Could someone help me in converting it into a "well formed" one?
(This is what I've tried: I appended "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>" to the XML I'm reading coz it was missing this. I later used XmlFormat to convert the XML into a string format. But IsXML tells me that even this is not well formed.)

XML encodes information is a specific way. Well-formedness determines whether or not a string is an XML document in the first place.
However, as well-formedness can be broken by any arbitrary number of factors, it is in general impossible to automate the repair process to recover a well-formed XML document. You have to do it manually, using an XML or a text editor.

The reason there are two boxes is so that you can set Exposé to using both the function keys and the mouse. For example, if I have +All Windows+ set to F9 and Secondary Mouse Button, then it will show all open windows if I click F9 or right-click. That is why you actually don't need to have the second boxes for any of these set to dashes. You could set them to your mouse buttons, or if you wanted you could set the first box of any of these to any function key, as long as it isn't set to the same one as the key you want to use for your shortcuts within FCE.
I hope this made sense, I realize that I might not have explained it very clearly.

How to insert application form id into the form template

Hi,
Is there a way to set the application form id into a form template designed from the LiveCycle Designer? Here is the detail description of my question:
(1) I am using LiveCycle Design to design a form template.
(2) I go to our application to deploy this form template. During the process, a form id will be generated and it will be associated with this form template.
(3) I would like to insert this generated form id into the form template, so that later when user fills out and submits the form, I will know what's the form id the submitted data belongs to.

Yes. The form ID will be generated by our application during the form deployment process (after the form is designed, it needs to be deployed to our application before it can be used.). So I was hoping there is a way to set the form ID into the form template design at that point. So that later when end user fills out and submits this form, I will know what form ID it is related to.
If I cannot do this at the deployment point, one way I can think of is to do it at the time when end user is downloading the form. I can return a "rendered" form (instead of opening up the form template directly) with the form ID information in it. But that means for every single form user opened we need to render it at run time to fill in the form ID, which is not performing and what I was trying to avoid.

In Acrobat 9 Pro, How do you split xml into multiple forms?

I'm new to Acrobat & xml in general. I'm trying to take one data file containing multiple copies of xml forms for importing in to Acrobat Pro. It keeps failing with the second xml header. The following is a sample of the data file.

Actually Graffiti it might be able to be done via 'touchup tool' without creating a new PDF. Assuming of course a photo editor like Photoshop is present.
To the OP: Acrobat is intended as final destination format and not really suitable for editing (although minor changes can be made with the full Acrobat product). It's always best to do the changes to the original document and then make a new PDF making sure you acknowledge proper version control procedures. Changing the PDF means that you now have a PDF that doesn't match the original document.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but Randy had mentioned a bug in Chrome regarding copy/paste. I've been searching for hours for a solution, but nothing on Google Chrome and c/p for the fillable area of a pdf document. Google forums have not yielded anything about fillable forms, so I'm hoping an Adobe forum would be more knowledgable.
I have a fillable form online where the fillable area cannot be pasted into or copied out of while using Google Chrome. Note that the text already on the document can be c/p'ed. The form is designed so users can copy and paste their own info into the cover sheet so there won't be any typos.
Without looking at alternative methods of using the form (i.e. saved on desktop), is there a way to fix this copy/paste issue? It is definitely a Google Chrome issue, as c/p works fine in IE and Mozilla. Thank you.

Is there a way to import calendar data from either Lotus Notes or Outlook calendar into iCal ? Is there a generic data type file that I must first get the calendar file into before importing into iCal ?

The file must be .ics. I used to simply use Missing Sync to get my calendars synced up, however it's not yet supported in Leopard.
So, in order to get my office Outlook data over to Ical, I simply used the following "macro"

How to format the text in an XML file

This should be a fairly easy one. A fairly easy one that seems to be hard to actually find.
When I write out the XML file, it's all on a single line. Not a huge problem all things considered (it works), but an annoying one.
Here's the a snippet, to show what I'm doing. There's not enough information for this to actually compile, if one is so inclined, just comment out a bunch of things and have it write out aribitary data.
Is this a case where I just need to manually write the formating myself?

Well, that helped quite a bit. Seems however when I set the indent property, rather then indenting it just makes new lines. Rather counter intuitive.

Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: <Line 13, Column 20>: XML-20201: (Fatal Error) Expected name instead of |.
So how can I acheive putting several fields into one like you can in SQL?

I have disabled the adobe complements from Internet Explorer and the preferences of Adobe to don't show the pdf files in internet but it keep also doing it.

Acrobat 8 and Reader 11 is not a recommended configuration to install on one machine.

There's also a related registry entry :
1.Click "Start," type "Regedit" into the Search box and press "Enter."
2.Click "Yes" if a User Account Control prompt appears.
3.Navigate to the ""HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[version]\Originals\" key in the left pane of the Registry Editor, where "[version]" is the currently installed version of Adobe Reader.
4.Create the bBrowserIntegration value if it doesn't exist in the right pane by clicking "Edit," "New." Click "DWORD Value," type "bBrowserIntegration" and press "Enter."
5.Double-click the bBrowserIntegration value in the right pane.
6.Type "0" into the value data box and press "Enter."

why don't you use webutil.
it has package client_ole2 which allows you to have programmatic interface with excel application.
this is especially useful if the excel to be read is available in the client.

How to import form results into another form

I'd like a simplified online membership form at acrobat.com to collect new member information, then have an employee in another office be able to import that record into another, more graphical PDF form that would be printed and go in the new member welcome pack that would be mailed out. The fields would be the same but the design would be different. Is there a way to do that?

We currently don't support a workflow like this. I can't think of a work around either. Sorry we couldn't help more...
