How to generate a single cycle of a waveform?

I need to generate a single cycle of a waveform. Is this possible?
The help document for function "niFgen_ConfigureOperationMode()" says, "NI signal generators support only Continuous operation mode." I guess this statement is pretty clear but it sure shoots a hole in my plans. We just bought this arb assuming it can do this. Is is really not possible to generate just one cycle of a waveform?
My arb is a PXI-5412.
thanks!

This is possible with your device.
You can do an Arbitrary Sequence of the waveform you want, then take an external pulse and use triggering to send that sequence however often you desire.
Look for the "Arbitrary Waveform Mode" topic in the NI Signal Generators Help under Start > National Instruments > NI-FGEN > Documentation for more information on this mode.

    Hi All
    Is it possible to create a single report using multiple databases
    I am working on Database A to generate reports usually,, but now i have a second database for which the data is coming from flat files now i have to use few tables from
    Database B to generate a single report,,,,, can any one help with the process

    Hi,
    i didn't see this properly in your post:
    but now i have a second database for which the data is coming from flat files if you have ETL then make flat files as source then create target tables in db:B itself.. .Now, import them in the rpd..
    If not, import both those tables into rpd with different connections..
    Create physical joins by selecting those tables and perform joins operations over db's in physical layer..

  • Maps: How to generate a single node from multiple nodes

    Hi,
    I have a problem while mapping. I have a large complex input schema through which I generate a flat file output. I have used map for creating the output. Below is the
    output and expected output.
    Output:
    E,651,120,3999,2013-12-01,2013-12-25,25,556,0.00,0

    There should always be one SR node. The node which should be present should be the one which has maximum DATE. While mapping how can I check before hand that there will be more DATE values coming and then map only latest. It’s a complex mapping so I’m looking
    for a simple solution.
    I want some conditions like while generating output SR Node, if there will be various SCR nodes in output then select the node with maximum date value in insert that in output.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the detailed response Aswin. It's very helpful. Please help in one more condition, sometimes there could be multiple SR with same Date. In that case SR is still repeating as all are equal so above maximun logic is creating n nodes. Eg:
    Output:
    E,651,120,3999,2013-12-01,2013-12-25,25,556,0.00,0
    E,652,120,3901,2013-12-01,2013-12-27,27,6176.25,0.00,0
    SR,218,504420120,2013-10-04,0451,102013,1,393.85,AD,501
    SR,218,504420120,2013-10-04,0451,102013,1,393.85,AD,501
    Expected Op:
    E,651,120,3999,2013-12-01,2013-12-25,25,556,0.00,0
    E,652,120,3901,2013-12-01,2013-12-27,27,6176.25,0.00,0
    SR,218,504420120,2013-10-04,0451,102013,1,393.85,AD,501
    So, if there are maximum in that cas select max, which is working now and if they are same then any one of those.

  • How to generate a single output pulse on 64 different digital out lines (PCI-6513) each with a different start time relative to an event in a main program loop.

    Long question.
    I am running a main program loop of 60 msec. At one point in the loop I create a 64 element array of delay times. At that point I need to begin outputting a predefined single pulse to each of the 64 lines on my PCI-6513. Each line outputs the pulse with a starting delay set by the "delay time" in the array.
    Each delay time is such that the pulses will be done before the next loop commands another one.
    Thank You
    Roger

    Hi,
    You have multiple ways of doing this, since there is no timing engine on the 6513 your code is going to control the output of the card, which is what we called “software timed”.  If you take a look at the example called: “Write Dig Chan.vi”, you can individually control each line.
    So to change the state of the line; since you have an array of delays time you can aid yourself with “stacked sequence structure” where in each frame you control the time it takes to go to the next frame and the data been written to the card.
    Another option is using a state machine where each state write the data you want and you can also control the time between states. For further references take a look at this article Application Design Patterns: State Machines.
    I hope it helps

  • RFFOEDI1 how to generate a single spool request for payment advices

    Hello,
    We are using RFFOEDI1 to create payment idocs to send to the bank and also create payment advices.  We have multiple payment methods that we using during a single payment run.  When we run F110, the system creates the payment advices as a separate spool request for each payment method in the payment run.  The users would like to see all the payment advices in a single spool request, regardless of the payment method.  Does anyone know if SAP is capable of this?

  • How to generate and output 3 TTL square waveforms with different pulse widths using counters of NI 6034E

    Hello
    I just have a few questions.
     I am using the NI 6034E DAQ board in order to
    generate simultaneouly 3 different TTL digital signals, with different
    pulse width, and output these TTL signals to an external circuit that I
    am using for this application.
    The following pattern of the TTL pulses will look like this:
    01010101 01010101
    00110011 00110011
    00001111 00001111
    From
    what I understand,  I have to use the 2 counters, Ctr0 and Ctr1, to
    generate the TTL pulses that I desire, because the DIO lines are
    software timed only and I will not be able to produce a deterministic
    output period using these DIO lines.  Am I correct?    Also, do I have
    to use a separate counter to generate a separate TTL digital pulse.  I
    need 3 different TTL pulses and there are only 2 counters for this DAQ
    device.  The three generated TTL signals will be feed to an external
    circuit.  Concerning the hardware connections for my application, I
    assume that the generated TTL signals will be output from
    GPCTR0_OUT(pin 2)  for counter 0 and GPCTR1_OUT(pin 40) for counter 1
    of the NI 6034E. Is this correct?  Is there any way that these TTL
    signals can be output from three DIO lines(DIO0...2).
    Here is some code that I plan to use in order to do this:
     #include <NIDAQmx.h>
    static TaskHandle gTaskHandle = 0;
    DAQmxCreateTask ("", &gTaskHandle);
    DAQmxCreateCOPulseChanTime (gTaskHandle, "Dev1/ctr0", "", DAQmx_Val_Seconds, DAQmx_Val_Low, 1.0, 2.0, 2.0);
    DAQmxCreateCOPulseChanTime (gTaskHandle, "Dev1/ctr1", "", DAQmx_Val_Seconds, DAQmx_Val_Low, 3.0, 4.0, 4.0);
    DAQmxCreateCOPulseChanTime (gTaskHandle, "?????", "", DAQmx_Val_Seconds, DAQmx_Val_Low, 7.0, 8.0, 8.0);
    DAQmxCfgImplicitTiming (gTaskHandle, DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps, 5);
    DAQmxStartTask (gTaskHandle);
    DAQmxWaitUntilTaskDone(gTaskHandle)
    DAQmxErrChk DAQmxStopTask(gTaskHandle)
    DAQmxErrChk DAQmxClearTask(gTaskHandle)
    I believe this code should generate the 3 TTL square waveforms that I want for my application.
    Please provide me with some feedback.  It would greatly be appreciated.
    Thank You

     Hi,
    The NI 6034E is a multifuntion DAQ device, this means you have:
      (2) counters
      (8) DIO lines (software timed)
      (16) AI, single ended
      (0) Analog Output
     You have a couple choices here:
       1. Software timed digital output of all three signals, max 1khz loop rate, non-deterministic.
       2. Hardware timed digital output of 2 signals, max 20Mhz.
       3. Hardware timed digital output of 2 signals and software timed digital output of 1 signal.
       4. Find another NI MIO board such as the NI 6251. This board will do 10Mhz pattern generation for (8) DIO lines.
    For the hardware connection, you are correct, the output for the counters will be taken from pin 2 & pin 40.  Here's the pinout for the NI 6034E for reference:
    The output of the Counters can be routed to some of the PFI's or to the RTSI connector. You can see this in MAX

  • How to generate 3 payment due dates& 3 posting against single invoice?

    Hello Experts,
    Kindly provides some inputs on below requirement.
    For example :- In the Utility Bill,
    Consumption months: June, July, August
    Meter Reading taken in August
    Billing Months: September, October, November
    Bill generated in August
    Consumer receives the bill on September month
    Payment Due dates: 12 Sep 2009, 12 Oct 2009 and 12 Nov 2009
    Issues-:
    1.How to generate three posting against single invoice?
    2.How to generate three payment due dates for above postings in three consecutive months since payment due date logic is incremental in nature here, e.g.
    1st due date = posting date + 15 days
    2nd due date = 1st due date + 30 days
    3rd due date = 2nd due date + 30 days
    Requirement description:-
    The utility generates bill quarterly for domestic consumers. For such consumers, the utility takes reading from the consumers premises after end of consumption period (quarterly ) and generates bill on the 1st billing month (here 1st billing month is September).
    In the bill the utility divides total consumption into three parts (considering each part for each consumption month) and calculates all charge heads separately on each part. It however, consolidates and generates a single bill having three rows, each row showing charge heads of each consumption month and also net and gross amount to be given for each consumption month.
    Moreover, three postings have to be generated in FICA against that single bill. Also, it provides three due dates to the consumer, each date falling in each billing month, to pay the above three net amounts respectively. Dunning and other activities should be triggered if the consumer fails to pay the stipulated amount by corresponding due date.
    Looking forward for valuable suggestions
    Thanks in advance

  • How to generate very fast pulses (single puls)

    Hi,
    I have a problem with generating fast pulses in LabView (2009 / 9.0, Win7-64enterprise).
    I try to explain my project:
    I have a femtosecond laser which sends pulses with a frequency of 200kHz. It mean 100fs puls 4.9999us low...100fs pulse.....
    The laser have a gate which switches the laser output on and off (optic crystal --> very fast)
    My task is to make it possible to send one single pulse out of the laser. You should have some user interface with LabView and enter
    the amount of pulses (one, two... or more) and a big "fire" button.So we can make tests with a fixed amount of pulses.
    I am very new to LabView and really dont know how to generate very short pulses. I try with a NI-USB6008 card and was possible to do some time loops
    to generate something close to 100Hz. Now I have NI PCIx-6351 card. and want to try to generate pulses of 1us. How to do??? I dont see any posibility to go below 1ms.
    Later on I want to try some syncronisation with the laser. I want to catch one pulse and sync to the next pulse.
    Anyone able to help me with this task ?
    btw: sorry for my clamsy english...
    bjoern

    bjoern,
    OK.  A gate window should be something which can be accomplished.
    The USB-6008 only uses software timing so fast pulses are not possible with that device.
    I am not familiar with the PCIx-6351 and can find no reference to it on the NI website so I do not know what its capabilities are.  Many of the NI cards with digital I/O and counters can generate pulses or pulse trains in the timing range you want.  If you have the NI DAQ drivers, look for examples of pulse generation.

  • How to generate finite cycles of sine wave using daq mx in vc++

    Hi,
    How to generate finite cycles of sine wave or for finite duration in vc++ using hardware timer without any sleepfunction in the code.
    Thanks & Regards,
    satya

    Hello Elizabeth,
    Thanks for the response.
    1) I am using NI 6040E PXI.
    2) I am using NI-DAQMx 8.3
    3) Measurement Studio is 6.0.0.105
    4) Operating system is Windows XP.
    I want to generate sine wave for finite duration previously in traditional daq there was function called wave_op.In which we can mention number of cycles of sine wave we wanted to generate. That function is not available in DAQMx so we have to use sleep function to generate finite period. Any hardware control function to control generation of finite cycles please let me know.

  • Generating single cycle sine wave using pxi5402

    Hi,
    I'm a relatively new user of NI hardware, had some experience with cRIO systems but not PXI
    I've got a PXI chassis with a PXI5402 fgen card, I'm trying to generate a single, double and triple cycle sinewave (user selectable) but have very little experience with creating waveform files, is there a guide to doing this or is there a vi which lets me create a (relatively) custom waveform, I'm using the 'fgen function generator.vi' example and was hoping to build on this, I'd like to be able to continually transmit my waveform or set a specific number of transmissions
    any help appreciated!

    Hi there,
    I belive that what you are trying to achieve would be best achieved using the arbitrary function mode, unfortunately this isn't supported by the PXI-5402. As it is a  A PXI-5412 would be better suited to this task.
    That is not to say, however, that this is impossible. I believe you can achieve single cycle generation using list frequency mode. http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370524M-01/siggenhelp/mode_frequency_list/
    This forum post explains a little more: http://forums.ni.com/t5/PXI/PXI-5402-Burst-generation/m-p/2163496
    Although the forum above mentions using multiple frequencies, list mode allows you to set a duration of signal generation allowing you to choose the number of cycles to generate through timing.
    I recommend modifying the Fgen Sweep Generator.vi example to generate only one frequency for a specified duration.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to generate an analog biphasic single pulse

    Hi Everyone,
    I am a newbie to LV. I have been just using it for the last 3 weeks for my summer research project in which I am working with a professor on artificial neural networks. For the past week, I have been asigned to code a program in LV that will act as an interface between the user and the MEA via a STIMULATOR BOARD. I have successfully done the binary addressing part of the deal, but am stuck where I have to have a user-interface that will allow a user to generate an analog (AO) output of a single biphasic pulse to stimulate the neural network.
    The user has to have a choice of the pulse width (aka the duration), and the volt (aka height) of the pulse. Also he/she should be able to produce either a mono or biphasic simple SINGLE pulse (not a continuous pulse). I have been digging in examples but my efforts have not gotten me anywhere useful.
    Therefore, to all the LV experts...can anyone help me out with a VI that produces a SINGLE BIPHASIC PULSE for a finite time?
    Any pertinent help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    UE

    Ok.Here is the solution to ur problem.
     What u should use is the SQUARE WAVEFORM.VI, where user can specify the peak to peak value,offset & phase as well.
    Now inorder to generate the single square wave,its very simple.Under sampling inforamtion specify the Fs as 100 times the required frequenct Fout & no. of samples #s as 100(i.e.Fs/Fout). This will result in only one square wave.
    Then while writing on to your DAQ card select mode as "FINITE SAMPLE" mode.ith no of sample may be1.
    Let me give u a simple example. Suppose u want to generate the one square wave of 10Hz with +ve magnitude 5V& -ve to be 3V.
    The
    1.Peak to peak is (5+3) = 8.
    2. Offset is (5-3)=2.
    3.Phase is 0 or 180 depending on +ve or -ve pulse o/p first respectively.
    4.Frequency is 10.
    5.Fs is 1000 & #s is 100.
    6.Select the sample mode in "DAQMX timing.vi" as finite mode & no. sample per channel as 1.
    Also disable the REGENERATION PROPERTY od DAQ & try. It should help.

  • Single cycle count scheduling

    Please help me understand system behavior for a single cycle count plan.
    Say I have it set up with an annual estimate of 52,000 and PM to be done weekly, ie a count of every 1000. Shift factors set to 100% and call horizon 0%. I initialize my counter at 100,000. When I schedule my first order, it is set a week out for 6/5 for projected counter reading 101,000. So far so good.
    Now technician decides to do the PM work a week early. He confirms the work order today (5/29), and a counter reading of 100,500 is entered. The system responds by scheduling a new order for 6/2 and keeps next projected counter reading at 101,000.
    Questions:
    1) Why is the next counter reading kept at 101,000 instead of 101,500? Say a bicycle chain needs to be greased every 1000 revolutions of the chain. If I grease the chain after only 500 revolutions, why would the system not schedule the next greasing 1000 revolutions out? (And is there a setting to enable this?!)
    2) Why did system pull in the next work order a few days early to 6/2? If I have consumed my 52,000 annual estimate at an accelerated rate, shouldn't all subsequent orders be stretched out (still 52 weeks, divided by 51,500)? (
    Thanks,
    Vlad

    687 comes by summing up current reading (123) with Cycle frequency (564).
    From Current reading 123 to reach 687, it will take 7 days (564 / 80), System considers the date of 16/06/2014 to calculate 23/06/2014.
    Whenever you change the Maintenance Plan scheduling parameters or Cycle frequency, Maintenance plan should be restarted to generate the new schedule lines.
    And, by changing some data in existing plan & based on system response, we can't predict the system calculation. We can give you the suggestions on how all the parameters should be maintained in Maintenance plan & Measuring Point (in case of Performance based plan) to generate the order in specific way.
    As we can't make replica exactly what you made, it will be never possible to give proper advice on system behavior.
    If you want to see the calculation behind date calculation, select the particular row in IP10 & click "Calculator" button. There you can see the calculation.
    Measurement document should be created while doing TECO of PM order. In TECO pop up, you can find the button as "Create Measurement document".
    Refer this blog which has been created by considering your scenario.

  • How to generate XML for following?

    Hello Everyone,
    I have following snippet of PLSQL code with for loops and record type arrays. Each loop can return separate number of rows and iterate that many times. For e.g. the for loop tab_rec may fetch 50 rows where as the for loop sql_rec may return 80 rows.
    I need to acoomodate all of these record arrays into a single xml file. Each for loop will repreesent one data set. Something like this.
    <dataset>
    <set value = tab_rec(kounter).tvalue >
    <set value = ?
    </dataset>
    Questions:
    1) How can I dynamically generate just one single XML file for all for loops metnioend below in this message?
    2) How can I dynamically generate tags for e.g. <set> tag above if I put XMLELEMENT() under a for loop kounter. To explain this in a better way consider pseudo code example below.
    for i in 1..kounter loop
    <dataset>
    <set value = tab_rec(i).tvalue >
    *<set value = *?*   -- How do i generate these <set> tags when tebrec(i).value will return many rows?*_

    Sorry for delay in response.
    I have pasted the complete code that will show the relation ship between data and XML. What I am trying to do here is to prepare smal packets of XML through XML element and then roll it up to a final grand CLOB variable. and pass that through XML creation. I have used DBMS_JAVA package to append clobs.
    The issue now I am running into, it generates JUNK in xml. pure junk and nothing else Thanks R,

  • How to generate a report in Excel with multiple sheets using oracle10g

    Hi,
    I need a small help...
    we are using Oracle 10g...
    How to generate a report in Excel with multiple sheets.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ram

    Thanks Denis.
    I am using Oraclereports 10g version, i know desformat=spreadsheet will create single worksheet with out pagination, but my requirment is like the output should be generated in .xls file, and each worksheet will have both data and graphs.
    rdf paperlayout format will not workout for generating multiple worksheets.
    Is it possible to create multiple worksheets by using .jsp weblayout(web source) in oracle reports10g. If possible please provide me some examples
    Regards,
    Ram
