How to get Final Cut Pro 7

Hi,
Since our editor is totally familiar with the final cut pro version 7, and we urgently need him to process a movie series.
So my question is it possible that I can get a final cut pro version 7 instead of the latest version 10.1.3? And how to.......
Thank you
Jack,

    Two things: 1) MORE RAM.
    2) What hard drive?
I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but the bare minimum to get decent performance out of FCP X is 8GB.
If you mac supports more, even better - go to 12GB or 16GB.
Also, the hard drive? Are you editing on the internal drive? That is also a bottleneck. The system drive should not also be used as a media drive; plus, depending on model, it may not be very fast drive to begin with.
You should use an external drive with a fast enough connection - USB3 or Thunderbolt, if possible; FW800 as a distant third. USB2 may also work, albeit it is a relatively slow connection.

  • Does anyone know how to get final cut pro 10.0.8 (downgraded from Mavericks)

I have down graded from Mavericks as I don't have the 2k needed to upgrade all my other apps I need a copy of final cut pro 10.0.8, any ideas?

The problem as stated was difficult to understand so I tried to help out with the part that appeared (to me) to be caused by a lack of space.
"I don't have the 2k needed to upgrade all my other apps"
Never heard of the expression about 2k and still don't understand what it means. Is that 2k of English pounds or maybe 2k pounds of flesh?
For what it's worth, in 1968 I was doing Fortran programming on an IBM computer that had 2K of memory. The computer room was the size of a large living room and we had two card key punch machines, a 120 "line printer" (printed a whole paper-width line at one time), a CalCom half-step plotter (wrote graphics programs for that), and a computer console, probably around 4 to 5 feet wide with rows of red lights. One had to read what was happening in hexadecimal code.
The programs I wrote were in Fortran and were for transportation planning and the Transportation Engineers. The graphics programs were for Travel Time and Delay Studies and the output was on about 30 or 36-inch wide paper and included things like Average Speed, Running Speed, Stop Delay Time, Percentage of time Stopped, Coefficient of Variation, Standard Deviation, etc. Rand these for AM Peak, PM Peak, Off Peak, and for each direction.
Back then an Engineer typically used a slide rule and if they were lucky they had a simple desktop Calculator that did add, subtract, multiply, divide, and had glowing wire numbers about 3/4" high would cost somewhere around $500. I don't think gas cost even 30 cents a gallon at the time. The venerable HP 35 calculator didn't come out until later. I wanted one but then they came out with the 45 and finally the Commodore 64 came out. Got one of those and wrote a lot of Basic programs for business.
As for the 10.0.8, I do have a backup of that although I'll probably delete it now.

  • How to get Final Cut Pro X???

I started downloading the Final Cut Pro X trial, and it got down to 1 hour and 3 minutes, but then it seemed to stop, and now te time remaining is at 3 hours and 23 minutes and counting upwards. Must I stop the downloading? What can I do? Please help.

Your ISP timed out its session with the Apple server.  Verify your internet connection, maybe even have your ISP check the lines.  Even on a slower connection, it shouldn't take more than 1-3 hours tops.

Yeah I'm getting the same issue.  I purchased a new Mac Mini yesterday purely to use the new FCPX, and now on day 1 I'm already running into problems... please don't make me switch to Premiere.
Set up the computer with external yesterday, never set anything to Time Machine.  Here's a screenshot of the drive, formatted on Mac OS Extended (Journaled):
And here's a screenshot of FCPX not recognizing the drive:
Apple please respond to this post, would really appreciate some help here troubleshooting.

  • TS2521 How can I get Final Cut Pro 7?

I would like to get Final Cut Pro 7. Is this possible? If so, does the Studio version have motion, etc.?

    Motion and Compressor are separate.
And know, that FCP-X is unlike FCP 7 in just about every way possible.  The way it works is vastly different. And you cannot open FCP 7 or 6 projects in it without buying a 3rd party converter.
Now, I hear many people like it...I just wanted you to know that it is VERY different from FCP 7

  • How to uninstall final cut pro 5

How do you do this? I have used app delete to erase the files but it didn't get them all. I know this because when I check for updates it still offers me the final cut pro updates. I have searched around but cant find an uninstaller. Help please.
    Thanks,

Warning - This is a long post.
How to uninstall Final Cut Pro & the other ProApps -
There are two ways to do this. The first requires that you insert the
install discs for each app and go through the following procedure to
    identify the installed files.
    1) Insert the disc and double click the install icon.
    2) Click to let the installer check your system
    3) After the installer opens, click File > Show Files (Command-T)
    4) Click the disclosure triangle next the the app's name to show all the
files installed, then select all of them
    5) Choose Edit > Copy (Command-C)
    6) Open a text editor & paste the list
    7) If you have a printer connected, print
    8) Make sure you delete the file/folder in the exact location indicated
    in the list
    9) Insert the next app's install disc and repeat
The other way involves the Terminal.
    Using Terminal:
    1) In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G)
    2) Enter the location /Library/Receipts/FinalCurPro.pkg/Contents
    3) Click Go to open the Contents folder
    4) Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
    5) Enter the command lsbom -s (a lower case L, not an upper case i)
lsbom lists each of the files inside the bill of materials. To list only
the folders, the command would be lsbom -d.
    6) Type a space, then drag the Archive.bom file from the Finder window
    to the Terminal window.
    7) Press Return to view the list
    8) Drag to select the list in the Terminal window and choose File > Copy
    (Command-C)
    9) Open a text editor and paste the list into it. Print if you have a
    printer attached.
    10) Guided by the list, delete all the files and folders, being
extremely careful to delete from the exact locations shown in the list.
NOTE: The above comes from the Peachpit book Optimizing Your Final Cut
    Pro System.

  • How much is Final Cut Pro x?

I Am getting a mac in 3 weeks and I have heard IMovie is only good for small home movie projects. So I would like to get a more professional editing software. So how much is Final Cut Pro x?

    max peacock wrote:
...  and I have heard IMovie is only good for small home movie projects. .. II've never done anything professional before but I do YouTube videos, ..
may I suggest to read professional advice for the apps, and not what's chattered around on 'boards' or 'social media'?
all Apple Apps offer a 'Help' button, upper right in the Menu bar, which laeds to the official Manuals, e.g.
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/?lang=en
    http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.1/
and there're few professional, 'recommandable' posters at YouTube offering help, for FCPX I like to mention Larry Jordan, rippletraining, izzyvideo...
You can create highly professional video with iMovie, and you can create terrible amateurish stuff with FCPX ... these are just tools.
You get pro with your mind, not with your wallet...
    Follow Ian's advice:
Use iMovie which comes preinstalled with your new Mac..
It needs some time to get to the bottom of this nice tool.

  • How stable is Final Cut Pro?

I'm considering dumping my ten year old video editing appliance and getting Final Cut Pro. The main reason is that my old editor crashes way too frequently and this old machine didn't have any way of backing up projects except to save them to dv tape. (Seriously! No drive backup!)
Those of you who use FCP on a Mac that also has all your other stuff ... internet browser, MS Office, iLife, whatever else you have ... is FCP noticeably reliable?
Can a guy depend on editing for hours upon hours without the thing crashing? I imagine backing up with FCP is easy, but regardless, how often does this thing crash on a user?
    -JOHN

here's my take on the issues discussed in this thread:
FCP is a remarkably stable app, but there are some caveats.
FCP is an open system that allows you to import and work with many formats that will not play nicely with fcp. These kind of formats require conversion to fcp friendly formats. If you do so, you will avoid most of the pitfalls people encounter.
When you have a stable operating system and Application combo, clone your startup drive to another drive using an application like carboncopycloner. This will allow you to quickly restore your system to it's working state, if things go south because of a problem after an update or new application install or some sort of corruption.
Always leave a minimum of 10% free space on all drives. You should probably leave more than that on your startup drive.
    get http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
a great utility that will allow you to backup your finalcutpro preferences, restore and/or delete them if they get corrupted.
And always plan your project workflow BEFORE you start editing (and if possible before you shoot). Understanding what's required for your end use is crucial to a smooth and relatively panic-free postproduction process.
one other thing. You will gain an amazing amount of troubleshooting skills if you scan this forum every day or so and take a look at the kinds of problems others are having and how they are being solved.

  • How to minimize Final Cut pro with one click?

I know you can minimize windows (canvas, timeline, etc) by pressing Command+M 4 times but how to minimize Final Cut pro with one click?

Hold down the Option key and click the Minimize button on any window, all windows in the app will minimize.
Don't know what or if the reverse of this is - so although it's a one click minimize all windows, I believe you have to re-enlarge them one at a time.

How to update final cut pro newer version?

Do you have Final Cut Pro X? (To check, go to the menu bar and click Final Cut Pro > About). If you don't have version 10 (X) I don't think you can update it any way other than buying it from the Mac App Store, which requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later.
It's currently $300 on the Mac App Store, which is an enormous drop from what it used to be.

  • Should I get Final Cut Pro?

Hi, I am on YouTube and I almost have 1,000 subscribers. I am going to get a MacBook Pro in the future and I want to know if I should get Final Cut Pro. Is it worth the price or is iMovie good enough? Please help me!

    Only  you can answer that.
If iMovie does what you need, then stick with it.
If you really want to see what FCP X is like you can download a fully functioning trial version for 30 days completely free of charge and any obligation from
