How to get search help tables of a specific table
Hello Guru,
I've a problem.
I'm looking for a way to find out how many "search help" tables exist in a specified Check Table.
Well, when I look for a check table of a field like MARD-LGORT
I got as a check table T001L, now when I read the data from it, using the function module RFC_READ_TABLE I got all the data that I need, except now that I don't know which fields are actually displayed in the search help table of the field LGORT
This what I want, in my case, the field that I need in the table T001L are : LGOBE LGORT WERKS
All the others, are not so important.
Please let me now, if you have an idea to find this.
The search help table is for LTGORT : H_T001L
Best Regards,
Kais
hi ,
try this
in the F4 value..
call funtion ' HELP_VALUES_GET'
DISPLAY = "Text u want to display
FIELDNAME = "Field name in specific table
INPUT_VALUE = "Any default value
TABNAME = "Table name
Exporting
SELECT_VALUE = "The selcted vale in pop=up
SELECT_INDEX = "selected Index.

How to get search help for 2nd parameter based on the 1st parameter value
Hi all!
I have 2 parameters (material no, revision level). I have created a search help for revision level. It has an importing parameter :material no. and one exporting parameter : revision level. When I checked it, it's giving the revision values only for the specified.
In my report , I have kept these 2 materials in my selection screen. For revision level , I have added the matchcode object which I have created. When I pressed F4 for revision level, it's giving all the values irrespective of the material no. in the first parameter. How to solve it? Please suggest.Hi,

How to get search help results in RIGHT-JUSTIFIED column
I am writing a search help with search help exit. Therefore, I use a table lets say tabA. I don't need all fields of tabA but need some further fields which I fill during exit.
tabA does not have currency or number fields.
I need a currency field and use a char20 field of tabA instead. filling of this field and showing results is o.k., but of-course it is shown left-justified.
I did not find any fields of shlp-fielddescr which sounds like left/centered/right-alignment. Another try was to fill char20 field with leading '_' signs - that looked terrible and was not right-justified either, because of not fixed-size font.
Let's resume: there is no number or currency field which I can use. The shown results appear in a column of not fixed-size font.
Any other idea?Hi, I have the same problem. Did you get to resolve it? . Thanks

Loop round the directory list, split each line up into a line table
and get the last data for each line, should be the filename
Then build the dirlist.
REFRESH t_dirlist.

Manjumanjukn wrote:
once i get the data into a plsql table, how to get this plsql table data into the cursor? There is no such thing as a PL/SQL table - it is an array.
It is nothing at all like a table. It cannot be indexed, partitioned, cluster, etc. It does not exist in the SQL engine as an object that can be referenced. It resides in expensive PGA memory and needs to be copied (lock, stock and barrel) to the SQL engine as a bind variable.
It is an extremely primitive structure - and should never be confused as being just like a table.
Its use in SQL statements is also an exception to the rule. Sound and valid technical reasons need to justify why one want to push a PL/SQL array to the SQL engine to run SELECT 's against it. -

How to use search help in layout of se51
how to use search help in layout of se51.
Hi,
One of the important features of screens is that they can provide users with lists of possible entries for a field. There are three techniques that you can use to create and display input help:
Definition in the ABAP Dictionary
In the ABAP Dictionary, you can link search helps to fields. When you create screen fields with reference to ABAP Dictionary fields, the corresponding search helps are then automatically available. If a field has no search help, the ABAP Dictionary still offers the contents of a check table, the fixed values of the underlying domain, or static calendar or clock help.
Definition on a screen
You can use the input checks of the screen flow logic, or link search helps from the ABAP Dictionary to individual screen fields.
Definition in dialog modules
You can call ABAP dialog modules in the POV event of the screen flow logic and program your own input help.
These three techniques are listed in order of ascending priority. If you use more than one technique at the same time, the POV module calls override any definition on the screen, which, in turn, overrides the link from the ABAP Dictionary.
However, the order of preference for these techniques should be the order listed above. You should, wherever possible, use a search help from the ABAP Dictionary, and only use dialog modules when there is really no alternative. In particular, you should consider using a search help exit to enhance a search help before writing your own dialog modules.

there are two types of search helps .
1. elementary search help .
2. collective serch help
Below are the steps to create elementary search helps :
1 In the initial screen of the ABAP Dictionary, select object class Search help, enter the name of the search help and choose Create.
2.then youget a option elementary or collective search as per you r need .
3.select Elementary search help and choose
4.write explanatory text in the field Short text.
5. in the selection method give the name of the table or a view .
6 . Select the fields that should be used for value selection or in a hit list .
7. then define the attributes of the search help .
8 Select the IMP flag if it is an import parameter. Select the EXP flag if it is an export parameter.

Hi how to attach search help to a field
hi all,
how to attach search help to a field.hi
<b>Attaching a search help to a field</b>
A search help can influence the behavior of a field when the input help is called. The search help must be assigned to the field in order to do this. You have the following options for this assignment:
Attach search help to a data element / table or structure field / screen field / check table.
Conventionally search helps are attached to table fields or data elements. We shall see the same.
<b>Attaching a search help to a table field</b>
Choose the field name, click on search help tab and
provide the name of the search help.
A search help is attached to a field of a table or structure in the maintenance transaction for this table/structure, analogously to attaching to a table. You must assign the interface parameters of the search help to any fields of the table/structure. The search field must be assigned to an EXPORT parameter of the search help at this time.
Attach the search help to the table field
The search help ZSTRAVELAG_NAME is therefore directly attached to the field AGENCYNUM of table ZSTRAVELAG.
<b>Attaching a search help to a data element</b>
Provide the search help name and the parameter name
under the further characteristics tab of the data element.
If the input help of a field is defined by its data element, no further screen fields can be used in the input help.
Also note that the input F4 help would be available wherever the data element is used.
<b>Attaching a search help to a screen element</b>
A search help can be directly assigned to a screen field in two ways.
The name of the search help must be entered in the Screen Painter in the Attributes for the field in the field Search help.
The name of the search help can be defined for selection screens in ABAP reports in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement directly following the supplement MATCHCODE OBJECT.
However, input help is only available for this particular screen.
In this case, the search help is only available for this screen.
<b>IF YOU WANT TO ATTCH A SERACH HELP TO THE SCREEN FILED THIS IS THE CODE</b>

How to add search help to customer field of field selection on ESS Screen?
Hi all,
I am able to get customer field CUSTOMER01 from field selection customization on leave application ESS Screen. How to attach search help which contains Holiday date & its description to this field?
Thanks,
SwapnaliHi,
This is for working time -> leave request screen
In field selection there is one field 'code for description of illness'. I have done required config for getting this field on ESS Screen. This field already has standard search help. So I m able to view the values of this field on ESS screen .
So I thought to try assigning custom search help to this CUSTOMER0 field. Is there any method in BADI PT_ABS_REQ through which I can achieve the same. Please help.

How to get name of table from front end
Hi,
How to get name of table from front end in EBS 11i?
thanx
AshishHi
Sandeep is correct. The "Help"/"Record History" will give you the table/view name, but sometimes this particular menu function give me a "Record History is not available here." error message.
I then use the following menu functions (this will also give you additional information, like column details).
1) Open Forms
2) Click on Help/Diagnostics/Examine (*you might have to enter the APPS password at this point)
3) Change "Block" to "System"
4) Change "Field" to "Last_query"
The system will populate the "Value" field with the query that was executed in order to populate the form.
