How to get session in BPEL constructs?

Hi ,
I want to create and manage weblogic session in BPEL process. Can we get the session inside BPEL activity or components. If Yes, how? What are the steps to create and handle Session in BPEL process?
Thanks & Regards

Hi Sridhar,
My process is running on clustered environment where we have more than one machines(Node) . Since we are not managing transaction in Bpel it is not following serilazation property. We want set some attribute in session that should be available on all nodes and every instance should check the the value of these attribute and then take appropriate action. How I casn access the session variable similar to JSP or Servlet.
Thanks & regards

  • How to get Session from different namespace?

    Hi,
    I´m trying to get a session from a different namespace, how can I do this?
    For example: I´m setting some session parameters with session.setAttribute in
    a namespace called "customer", and trying to get this parameters in a namespace
    called "main".
    In my webflow, I am using a proxy node to call the page in the other namespace.
    I will always recieve a session from the other namespace. But, when I try to get
    the parameters, I think the session have been lost.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanx. CSN

    Why? Because that's what the J2EE specification says should happen.

  • How to get session.maintain property on server side?

    Is there a way to trap javax.xml.rpc.session.maintain property on the server side in JAX-RPC compliant web service implementation? I would like to know if the client has enabled session.maintain property to true (which false by default). If not, can I specify the web service to be of "Application" or "Session" scope during deployment time? It used to be the case for Apache SOAP processor. I do not see any mention of that in the JAX-RPC spec.
    Thanks for any pointers.
    -Anirban.

    When I first started to work with JAXRPC I had questions about how web services maintained session across multiple calls and also if it was
    possible to maintain session across multiple web services. I downloaded
    the JAXRPC runtime implementation source code and tell you what I found.
    There is a HttpClientTransport class that handles the actual HttpConnection to the server. It checks to see if maintain session is
    set to true or false. If it is set to true it appends the JSESSIONID to the header variables of the request.
    The very first call gets a response back with header variable
    Set-Cookie: JSESSIONID=blahblahblah
    The HttpClientTransport looks for it and if it finds it takes the cookie and stores it somewhere. Every call after that will check to see if session maintain is true or false. If true, it will send
    the header:
    Cookie: JSESSIONID=blahblahblah
    Hope that helps.

  • How to get session vars of another or any current user

    We all should know that the syntax session.varname will get or set a session variable for the one user currently making the request.
    But can we write a method to get the session structure for ANY given user, when provided with a valid identifier like sessionID?
    Don't everybody all yell at once now.

    Ah HA! I knew there was a way, it was just a matter of not knowing the magic phrase to search for (kinda like learning ActionScript).
    Plain web service calls work just fine, but when my Flex app makes a Remote Object call to a cfc, my ColdFusion API always triggers onSessionStart, and has no apparent knowledge of the session variables that are already there for this Flex user (like the ones authorizing access to the API).
    I figured the fix was to provide the sessionID in my initial LogIn method, keep that on the Flex side, then pass it back in the RO call - where sessionTracker could dig up the needed info?
    Or my RO setup is just missconfigured?

  • How to get session variable value in conditional formatting

    I am trying to format my column according to value of a session variable. Normally when comparing to a static value I select value from add button and write the value. What I want is to be able to do this using a session variable. I select variable presentation and as the variable expression I tried MYDAY, NQ_SESSION.MYDAY, VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.MYDAY), VALUEOF(MYDAY) but nothing works. By the way it is a date value, I don't know it makes any difference
    Any help would be appriciated

    I am surprised that it is not possible to select a session variable when you want to use conditional formatting. Apparently you can only base conditional formatting on presentation variable or values within a column.
    As a workaround you can create an extra column in your request and use a CASE WHEN statement, where you compare the value of the date with the session variable. Then you can base your conditional formatting on that column.

  • How to get the UserTransaction object in  stateless session bean

    Hi, I am using jboss server and jdk5 version and using EJB.
    My Application flow :
    JSP à Action(Struts) à Service Locator à Session bean à Entity Bean(cmp) à DB.
    I tried to get the UserTransaction object in my Action. Its my code.
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    UserTransaction uTrans = (UserTransaction) ctx.lookup("java:comp/UserTransaction");
    After used uTrans.begin(),uTrans.commit() and uTrans. rollback () also.
    Its working fine .
    But, I used the the same code inside in my session bean its not working.
    Stateless Session Manager Bean code :
    public class SampleManagerBean implements SessionBean {
    public void ejbCreate() throws CreateException {  }
    public void ejbRemove() {  }
    public void ejbActivate() {   }
    public void ejbPassivate() {   }
    public void setSessionContext(SessionContext sessionContext) {
    this.sessionContext = sessionContext;
         public void createSample() throws EJBException
         try{
                   InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
                   UserTransaction ut = (UserTransaction) ctx.lookup("java:comp/UserTransaction");
              }catch(Exception e) {
              System.out.println(“ Exception === > “+e)
    Its throws the error ie: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: UserTransaction not bound
    How to get the UserTransaction object in my session bean. Kindly give solution the above errors.
    - Thendral

    first of all, you could just use sessionContext.getUserTransaction(). however, that would only work if your bean is using bean-managed transactions. the default is container-managed transaction, in which case you cannot get a UserTransaction object. if you want to manage transactions, you need to add the TransactionManagementType.BEAN annotation to your ejb.

  • How to get stateful and stateless session bean in second jsp

    I create stateful session bean in the first jsp, then how can I get the stateful session bean in the second jsp? I find that somebody store the bean in HttpSession.
    If I store the stateful session bean in HttpSession, then I can get it in the second jsp. My problem is that I can store the stateless session bean in HttpSession, and get it in the second jsp. Then, both stateful and stateless can maintain the state in the second jsp. What is the difference between stateful and stateless session bean in this case ?
    I understand the definition of stateful and stateless session bean, but I'm confuse how to use session bean. Can anyone provide sample jsp to show difference of stateful and stateless? How the stateful session bean can maintain the state for the client?

    Greetings,
    I create stateful session bean in the first jsp, then how can I get the stateful session bean in the
    second jsp? I find that somebody store the bean in HttpSession.Which is the correct scope for sharing client-specific data when 'request' scope is insufficient.
    If I store the stateful session bean in HttpSession, then I can get it in the second jsp. My problem is
    that I can store the stateless session bean in HttpSession, and get it in the second jsp. Then, bothWhy is that a "problem"? Does your application not require the stateless bean to be shared? If so, then don't store the EJBObject reference in the session...
    stateful and stateless can maintain the state in the second jsp. What is the difference betweenWhat do you mean by this exactly?..
    stateful and stateless session bean in this case ?Statefulness of session beans is in regard to maintaining client state (er, in all cases). If your "stateless" bean is receiving information from the client (i.e. its caller) - either through a create method or a business method - and that information is available (retrievable from the bean) on subsequent method calls, then that bean is, in fact, stateful - regardless of how it is deployed.
    I understand the definition of stateful and stateless session bean, but I'm confuse how to use
    session bean.The correct question, it here seems, is "when" to use which type... Use a "stateful" bean when information about (from) the client (i.e. the caller) must be maintained across method calls of the bean. Use a "stateless" bean for general business methods that do not depend on "prior knowledge" of the client (i.e. the caller).
    Can anyone provide sample jsp to show difference of stateful and stateless? How the statefulA "sample JSP" would yield nothing additional... The semantics of calling, using, and "persisting", bean references are always the same - regardless of type or class. However, the reason(s) for using one over the other depends entirely on the needs of your application.
    session bean can maintain the state for the client?I recommend that you spend more time learning about EJBs generally. In particular, it seems you require more fundamental understanding of their scope and lifecycle. Refer to sections 4, 6, and 7 of the EJB 2.0 Specification.
