How to get the start of a loop to sustain???

I am trying to end a song with a sustained note taken from an existing loop. That is, I would like just the starting note of the loop to sustain itself for 4-5 seconds at the end of the song. But I can't seem to get this to work smoothly. I've tried cutting the loop down to just the starting note, then copying this note many times and seaming the notes together, but this makes a trilling sound instead of one smooth and sustained note.
Any ideas how to do this? Thanks.

It's very hard to "stretch" audio notes. You don't specify what instrument it is, so it's hard to give a detailed advice. But in general the notes have an "attack" part where the note starts, a "sustain" part where the note is held, and a "decay" part. What you want to do is extend the sustain part of the note, if it's long enough. In the waveform, it should be a band that looks rather uniform. Try to copy it several times by cutting and pasting so that the result looks smooth. With a little luck, the cuts aren't too noticable.
Or put a long delay at the end of the note.
But generally: No, you can't do it, and you can't turn a real region into a software region.

  • Where/How to get the initial set of loops

    GarageBand is displaying the initial loops greyed out, and when I click one a dialogue comes up saying they're not installed. I'm given the option to Download now, later, or from disk. Since iLife came installed on my mac I have no disc. So's I select download now, and it shuffles me over to Software Update... which informs me that there are no new updates and quits itself. Attempting to re-open the dialogue in GB gives me a message saying that the download/install is underway, but there is no evidence of such.
    So's... is there any way I can manually download and install these loops? Or, at the very least, remove the greyed out one from the library?
    I'm suspecting that I refused this update early on or something... I've had my mac for about a year and a half but no need to use GarageBand until now.

    eg a week starts on monday and end on sunday
    January 11, 2005 is the start date for the week

    You could use a notifier (since it is a single value) or a reference (with a property node) to a control that gets the value elsewhere in another VI.
    If it is within the same VI, you could use a property node (right click > create > property node > value) from the control within the same VI located outside the loop.
    If you promiss NOT to abuse the use of Local Variables, you could use that to only write from ONE location within the For Loop to a control outside the loop, similar to the property node mentionned earlier.  (Of course, I will be struct by lightening for mentionning that and scolded by other LabVIEW coders for having a change of heart on the use of Locals....  Shivers are already crawling up my spine).
    You could use a queue, but that might be an overkill, unless:  the count is generated faster than it is being read elsewhere...
    As crossrulz mentionned, can you describe what you will be doing with the count?  Because synchronizing data (fresh / stale / etc) is very important within LabVIEW as it executes based on dataflow rather than a sequential order.
    Hope this helps.

    You have not fully provided the answer.  We figured that much of your code from your description, but what is reading the value of the count?  Is it in a separate loop?  If not, it may only deal with the first value, which is likely 0.  The proper advice depends on how you process the received data (count).

    Thank you for the info re. the main menu. Your answer I used worked; however, the menu bar all the way across is solid black. The only way I can find out the names on the menu is to point the cursor from left to right over the black bar to find "file" "edit" tools", etc. What do I need to do to get these menu titles to be seen?
    As regarding the GMail --the menu bar used to have an envelope symbol which was white and outlined in red. That disappeared. I googled "mail.google.com" to try to get back my email. This didn't work. I then tried to get a different email address and password--after 8-19 attempts, this never worked. My other email (sbcglobal.net) has never returned.     Reinstall OS X:
    Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

  • Trying to find out how to get the smallest value in a 2-D array

    I figured out how to get the largest and smallest in a 1-D array, but I'm having trouble with the for loop for the 2-D array
    I can't seem to figure out how I can get it to check every element in the 2-D array
    Lets say I have this array
    int[][] aRay = new int[][] {{ 1, 2, 3} , {4, 5, 6 }};and I want to find the smallest value, I think I can figure out what goes in the box of the for loop I just need help with how I can check every element..
