How to go about connecting four FielPoint modules over a RS485 network?

I am thinking of using FielPoint for an application which involves the use of sensors widely distributed. I want to use five fieldpoint modules on an RS485 network to save wiring, improve performance etc.

Noely,
Do you want to use the RS-485 network to control the FieldPoint bank or are the sensors on a RS-485 network? If you are looking for a FieldPoint controller that is controlled via RS-485 look at the FP-1001. If you are looking to communicate on a RS-485 network then look at the cFP-2020 (embedded real-time controller) or the FP-1000 (RS-232 with a RS-485 repeater port).

  • About connecting my time capsule to a wireless network

    I have bought a time capsule but as my place isn't ethernet-able, how can I use the time capsule as a "wifi acceptor" to connect with my wireless network, and then boardcasting wifi signal to my devices? I have tried the extending a network option, after it restarted and I can't even search any base stations. Can anyone suggest me a solution to that? I really need to do so although I know that this isn't a purpose of using the timecapsule. In other words I'm trying to make the time capsule as a wireless modem to connect to another wireless network, in the mean time boardcasting wifi signal to my devices.
    Thanks guys.

    how can I use the time capsule as a "wifi acceptor" to connect with my wireless network, and then boardcasting wifi signal to my devices?
    Unfortunately, this is not possible.
    In order to broadcast a wireless network with Internet access, the Time Capsule must be provided with a wired Ethernet connection at its WAN "O" port.
    Check wtih your Internet Service Provider to see if they have an adapter or other device that will provide a wired Ethernet connection to the Time Capsule.

  • How do I easily connect to other computers on my local network?

    Tiger was easy, Leopard has many confusing options that aren't clear to non-tech people.
    I have 5 other computers on my local network. 3 are Leopard, One is Tiger and one is Panther.
    All machines are password protected at startup.
    Trying to configure my Leopard machines to be able to access each machine's hard drive with just a password input. Was easy in Tiger. Only Tiger and Panther machines can talk to each other now.
    Confused by drop boxes, etc. (don't want)
    Any FAQs on this?
    Want Panther and Tiger machines to access Leopard (so needs to work both ways).
    A simple shortcut would be super!

    on the LAN, from apple to apple, and assuming you trust the other users on your LAN, I would recommend afp for file sharing over smb or ftp. Users' accounts have the permissions set up so others can connect directly to their Public folder (for read access - drag and drop copy a file) and to their Drop Box (in their public folder) (for write access - drag and drop a file) by mounting target computer icon on desktop as if an external or second hard drive, at least as far back as Panther and I think even Jaguar. Can't say for earlier than that -- don't remember anymore.
    You need to turn on file sharing in the Sys Prefs on the computer being accessed. smb and afp had their own sharing checkboxes in Tigger's and Panther's Sys Prefs Sharing Services (called personal file sharing and windows sharing, as I recall); in Leo, they are in Sys Prefs Sharing File Sharing Options. "Full access" to non-privileged user accounts is done by username/password. Absolute full access to the entire computer requires afp login as admin user on the target computer. To get there in either case, in the Finder, it's Go Connect to Server ⌘k then afp://{target computer name or IP address} or Go Network ⇧⌘k and double click.
    Remote keyboard/screen access is relatively easy, too -- more so with Leopard than with prior OSs. Won't delve into that here coz' I didn't think you were so interested in that, but can post additional info if desired.

  • Can you Connect Cisco switch modules for to N2K?

    I have not seen anything about connecting Cisco Switch modules for Blade Chassis to fex.  Does anybody now if you can do that?
    thank you.

    thank you Lucien.
    I think you got a right name for N2Ks, a NIC card extender.  In my opion N2K should be able to support Blade switches. Not every company has just rack mount servers, most enviroment is mixed. In my case, I run out ports on N5K, but plenty available on N2K.  I want add two more blade centers with gig switch modules in them. now I have to buy a N5K!!!.  I'm sure Cisco can make N2K to support switches too.

    Hello! I have a huge question about how can I get connected my iphone 4 with my car Is there any opption on find my car application? I have a Volvo xc60 and I want to be connected all the time with my iphone. Can I do that?

    Hello. I can say that you have a quite strange „huge question”… It’s non-sense to stay connected with your car which is hundreds miles away. Unless…
    I have a theory. You don’t want to controll your car, you want to controll somebody who is driving the car. Volvo XC 60 is a nice family car, usually used by married men between age of 35-45, probably with small children, so it’s very unlikely that you want to controll your teanage kid, mainly because probably even if you would give him/her to drive the car in the neighborhoud, I don’t think that he/she would be „several hundred miles away”…  If your child is not young teneage anymore, and he/she has his/her own life, but you want to control him/her, that is sick… So I am convinced that you want to controll your husband who probably travelling often! Am I wright?
    Isnt’t nice at all! Would you like if you would be monitorized in such way? I bet you don’t!
    Anyway, iPhone is smart, you can use for many things, but come on, you really were thinking that there is such kind of application???
    What could you do it's to put in the car a GPS survelling system, however I don't think that you could do it without your husband knowledge, otherwise he won't be able to start the engine...

  • Urgent Help Required for Connect Four Game

    Hi all,
    I am a student and I have a project due 20th of this month, I mean May 20, 2007 after 8 days. The project is about creating a Connect Four Game. I have found some code examples on the internet which helped me little bit. But there are lot of problems I am facing developing the whole game. I have drawn the Board and the two players can play. The players numbers can fill the board, but I have problem implementing the winner for the game. I need to implement the hasWon() method for Horizontal win, Vertical win and Diagonal win. • How to use single connection

    Hello Gurus,
    I am new in adf and using jdev 11.1.2.3.
    I am developing application in which i am using dynamic shell UI. The structure of application is i have one main application modules with the UI shell. The other modules are developed in separate application and has its own data control and task flows and then i deployed them as adf library. Then i am consuming the task flow in the main application.
    As i mention each module has its own data control, so when i open a module it makes new connection with database. It means if i have opened ten modules then it is opening ten connections with database.
    Is is possible i can configure somewhere to use single connection for all modules and not to open the connection for each module.
    And one more thing if i undeploy the application the connection is still with database as v$session view shows it. How i can close connection if i close the tab in ui shell.
    Thanks,

    Hi, You can explore the option of nesting your AM.  Check below links to know more about them.

  • Trying to write Connect Four

    I'm fairly new to java. Actually, I'm not that new but I forgot everything I ever learned about applets. I'm trying to write Connect Four but I'm having trouble figuring out what parts of my code are supposed to do. From what I understand, start(), starts the execution of my applet. I'm not sure what code I should put in there. I basically want it to say IF the game is not over, keep playing. I'm not entirely sure what playing is. I think I need a thread somewhere thats constantly checking if the game is over but I'm not sure how to code that. Thanks for any help.
    Here's what I have so far:
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class GameDisplay extends Applet implements MouseListener
                     ArrayList pieces;
         Image board;
         Toolkit tool;
         Player red,blue;
         Game connect;
         String turn;
         boolean gameOver;
         public void init()
              pieces = new ArrayList();
              tool = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
              board = tool.getImage(fileName);
              red = new Player("red");
              blue = new Player("blue");
              gameOver = false;
              turn = "red";
              connect = new Game();
              addMouseListener(this);
         public void start()
              while(!gameOver)
                   //Do something
                    stop()
         public void stop()
         public void destroy()
         public void mouseClicked (MouseEvent me)
              Location loc = new Location(me.getX(),me.getY());
              if(loc.isValid())
                   if(turn.equals("red"))
                        Piece p = new Piece("red",me.getX(),me.getY());
                        pieces.add(p);
                   else if(turn.equals("blue"))
                        Piece p = new Piece("blue",me.getX(),me.getY());
                        pieces.add(p);
                     public void mouseEntered (MouseEvent me) {}
                     public void mousePressed (MouseEvent me) {}
                     public void mouseReleased (MouseEvent me) {}
                     public void mouseExited (MouseEvent me) {}
         public void update()
              paint(g);
         public void paint(Graphics g)
              for(int i=0;i<pieces.size();i++)
                   Piece p = pieces.get(i)
                   g.drawImage(p.getName(), p.getX(), p.getY(),null);
                   g.drawImage(board, 0, 0, null);
    }

    Ok, I added a couple more things. I'm planning on having a board object which will be a matrix of Piece objects. I think the reason that this was confusing me, was a couple of years ago I tried to right a Monopoly game and I don't remember how I did it, I know I used applets but I also had a thread going and I don't remember why I needed it.

  • BC4J Question: How does AM and Connection Pooling work?

    Hello everybody,
    we are just trying to understand what exactly happens when a BC4J Application Module is created / when a AM is checked out of the pool with respect to Connection and Application Module Pooling. Especially we would like to understand what ConnectionStartegies, EnvInfoProvider and SessionCookies exactly do and when and how to customize them. Especially we would like to use features like virtual private databases (VPD) and proxy authentication (a feature of the Oracle OCI JDBC driver) with BC4J application modules. We found the HowTo about using JAAS and VPDs with BC4J (http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/bc4j/bc4jvpdjaas.html) but there are still questions, e.g. when is the afterConnect() method of an ApplicationModuleImpl called? During the instanciation of an AM or every time it's check out of the pool?
    Any info on this topic would be very welcome!
    Regards
    Stefan

    Hi,
    1. Setting jbo.doconnectionpooling=false ,
    connection pool still exists.
    Is it correct ? When you set this parameter to false, you are saying that Connection Pool is not managed by AM, so you need to specify a JNDI Name in Application Module to use a Pool not managed by AM.
    2. There is one situation to set
    jbo.doconnectionpooling=true. The article said
    "when you have a large number of application
    module pools all needing to database connections
    from the same underlying application user at the
    database level. In this case, the many application
    module pools can perhaps economize on the total
    overall database sessions by sharing a single,
    underlying database connection pool of JDBC
    connections, albeit at a loss of efficiency of each
    one. This choice would be favored only if total
    overall database sessions is of maximum priority. "
    Does it mean that if we set it to true when we
    have many many AM instances and we cannot afford to
    have such number of connection instance in the pool
    ? It's means that the JDBC connections will be shared avoid new Connection at time.
    Normally i use Connection Pool not managed by Application Module.
    Bye

  • How to use JDBC Connection Pools in a standalone application?

    Hi, there,
    I have a question about how to use JDBC Connection Pools in an application. I know well about connection pool itself, but I am not quite sure how to keep the pool management object alive all the time to avoid being destroyed by garbage collection.
    for example, at the website: http://www.developer.com/java/other/article.php/626291, there is a simple connection pool implementation. there are three classes:JDBCConnection, the application's gateway to the database; JDBCConnectionImpl, the real class/object to provide connection; and JDBCPool, the management class to manage connection pool composed by JDBCConnectionImpl. JDBCPool is designed by Singleton pattern to make sure only one instance. supposing there is only one client to use connection for many times, I guess it's ok because this client first needs instantiate JDBCPool and JDBCConnectionImpl and then will hold the reference to JDBCPool all the time. but how about many clients want to use this JDBCPool? supposing client1 finishes using JDBCPool and quits, then JDBCPool will be destroyed by garbage collection since there is no reference to it, also all the connections of JDBCConnectionImpl in this pool will be destroyed too. that means the next client needs recreate pool and connections! so my question is that if there is a way to keep pool management instance alive all the time to provide connection to any client at any time. I guess maybe I can set the pool management class as daemon thread to solve this problem, but I am not quite sure. besides, there is some other problems about daemon thread, for example, how to make sure there is only one daemon instance? how to quit it gracefully? because once the whole application quits, the daemon thread also quits by force. in that case, all the connections in the pool won't get chance to close.
    I know there is another solution by JNDI if we develop servlet application. Tomcat provides an easy way to setup JNDI database pooling source that is available to JSP and Servlet. but how about a standalone application? I mean there is no JNDI service provider. it seems a good solution to combine Commons DBCP with JNID or Apache's Naming (http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/index.html). but still, I don't know how to keep pool management instance alive all the time. once we create a JNDI enviroment or naming, if it will save in the memory automatically all the time? or we must implement it as a daemon thread?
    any hint will be great apprieciated!
    Sam

    To my knoledge the pool management instance stays alive as long as the pool is alive. What you have to figure out is how to keep a reference to it if you need to later access it.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins,needs new internal battery but I have no idea how to go about this. i love my ipod and don't want it to loose power completely, can anyone help?

    My ipod touch 4th generation no longer holds it's charge for more than 40mins from full power, think it needs a new internal battery but have no idea how to go about this and am no longer covered by my guarantee. Can anyone advise me on what's best? Thanks in advance

    Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
    Use an Apple wall-mount charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
    I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPod Regularly
    For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
    Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • How to disconnect internet connection in Time Capsule and reconnect without restarting the whole device?

    Hi, I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to disconnect internet connection in Time Capsule and reconnect without restarting the whole device?
    The thing is that as I have a dynamic IP address, everytime I restart the internet connection my IP address changes. I sometimes need it to change, so I need to restart the connection. I don't know another way to restart the connection than restarting the whole Time Capsule.
    Thanks!!
    PD: the computer I use is Windows based, using the Airport Utility for Windows, but I also have a MacBook Pro I could use and an iPhone too.

    The utility in windows is very like Mac so the screenshots are from Mac as I don't have windows available now.
    How this works depends on the setup of the TC.. which you did not tell us.. you cannot change anything if you do not have the TC as the main router in the network.
    So on the internet tab you need to share a public IP address.
    On the next tab where you set IP address.
    Click the renew IP address.
    It might work.. and it might not.. the problem is you are not disconnecting the network.. sometimes the hard disconnection is required before the address will renew..
    What about unplugging the WAN port.. then click renew the IP which will fail.. then plug the wan back in again.
    In the end it is easier and faster to power cycle the TC.
