How to handle a locked transaction in workflow

I was creating a travel request(HR) for a person through transaction PRRQ. A workflow will be triggered to approve the request immediately when details are saved via PRRQ Tx.
The problem for me is i don't know the transaction for a user creating a travel request. But as a manager Tx PRRQ works. Here in this Tx there is approve button also. And when the transaction is not exited, my workflow goes into error, saying Tx is locked for user-person. What is the solution for this.

hi
first you will check the employee details. whether it is blocked or not. Normally it is happened, once the user is blocked other wise it will go to approver automatically.

  • How to find the locked transaction?

    Hi All,
    Problem:
    We are trying to VOID a cheque which was already accounted for some reason. We are unable to do that. The VOID option is there, but when we go to that option and give Check date and GL Date, system says it will void. On clicking OK in this screen, another message comes saying VOIDED..Requery to see changes... But when we requery we are unable to see the voided check. Still the check status is Negotiable.
    Solution:
    Usually happens when there is a database lock on that partucular check.
    Some payment bacth of adjustment session had selected this particluar check but has not released it .
    Pls ask ur dba to have it checked and if it is indeed locked , either try to release it or kill that session.
    Now my query is how can I find out the locks via V$LOCK table.
    Thanks
    Shivank

    Hi All,
    I have found out the result of same.
    We can find out the BLOCKING transactions from
    SQL> select * from dba_locks where BLOCKING_OTHERS='BLOCKING';
    Once you find out the blocking transactions you can check it with V$SESSION for the SID and SERIAL# i.e.
    SQL> select * from V$SESSION where SID in (<SESSION_ID>);
    Now you can release the locks by
    SQL>ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION 'SID,SERIAL#';
    Thanks

  • How to handle a failed transaction in Syclo Agentry SAP Work Manager 5.3

    Hello Experts,
    I have a transaction created on work order time entry.
    For some reason, when the transactions fails (when clicked on transmit button), the transmit stops as soon as the error is thrown from ECC.
    However, this transaction remains on the client and is not deleted.
    when a new transaction is created on another object and transmitted, it still retains the previously failed transaction and tried to transmit it again.
    Because of this, the transmit stops again and it fails.
    Is there anyway to remove a transaction which has failed already? What is the best way to handle such scenario.
    Thanks for the help!

    Arihant,
    The Error handling within the application / editor does not have a one click type solution to just remove a pending transaction.   As Jason mentioned the behavior is to stop when an error occurred so the user can correct and continue.  In some cases this may mean removing the transaction through the removal of the associated object from the mobile device (clear option frequently) that when the object is cleared the associated transaction is also deleted allowing the pending transactions behind the current one to proceed.
    The editor allows for error handling steps to be defined to execute upon error so that potentially you could log the transaction data off to the side for handling later and then continue processing.  This of course requires there to be manual back office involvement monitoring the logged data for resolution and next steps.

  • How to handle lock object in BDC  call transcation method?

    Hi,
    how to handle lock object in BDC  call transcation method?
    Thanks In advances.

    If you are updating Z-fields then you need to create a lock entry, before you use call transaction.
    After creating lock object, please use FM Enqueue_<lockname> before CALL transaction and FM Dequeue_<lockname> after you have commited your data.
    Thanks,

    Hi srk,
    I am providing you with some references below. Hope this prove to be helpful to you.
    Method 1:
    Use one BDC_OPEN_GROUP
    Multiple BDC_INSERT
    One BDC_CLOSE_GROUP.
    Call function BDC_OPENGROUP.
    Build BDC data and call lBDC_INSERT for transaction 1
    Build BDC data and call lBDC_INSERT for transaction 2
    Build BDC data and call lBDC_INSERT for transaction 3
    paas the tcodes to bdc_insert.
    call function BDC_CLOSE_GROUP.
    Also check this out:
    Here we need to record 2 transactions (shdb).
    Once completion of the recording. Populate the data into input internal table .
    Loop the internal table and process the 2 transactions
    like
    1. BDC_OPEN_GROUP
    2. LOOP AT ITAB
    a. Populate first transaction recording data
    and pass transaction to the BDC_INSERT_GROUP.
    BDC_INSERT_GROUP.
    b. Populate second transaction recording data
    and pass transaction to the BDC_INSERT_GROUP.
    BDC_INSERT_GROUP.
    ENDLOOP.
    3. BDC_CLOSE_GROUP
    the above info can be found at : How to use 2 transactions in BDC?
    Also check this out:
    Suppose u have created recordings for transactions 'MM01' 'XK01' and 'VA01'.
    Then do this:
    bdc_open_group.
    after this we have to fill the bdcdata structure for one transaction.here 'MM01'.
    bdc_insert.
    refresh bdcdata.
    after this we have to fill the bdcdata structure for one transaction.here 'xk01'.
    bdc_insert .
    refresh bdcdata.

  • How to handle exception thrown in standard bo method in the workflow design

    Hi Experts
        how to handle exception thrown from standard bo method in the workflow design. For example, bo BUS2032, METHOD confirm. If the user cancel it, it will throw exception. In the workflow, how to catch this exception and add corresponding steps in the workflow.

    @jrockman li
    Try to implement the logic that what ever you are performing in the BO mehtod in a FM and in the FM you have tab with name EXECPTIONS define the execption in that tab.Now in the BO method you call this FM  and if the exception occurs by using RAISE you can raise the exception in the FM and based on the number of exceptions your sy-subrc value will be set
    so when sys-subrc is not eq 0 then pass a value back t the workflow container., I think this will work.
    a sample Snippet for understanding purpose
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'

        filename         = <path>
        filetype         = 'ASC'
      IMPORTING

        no_authority     = 3
        unknown_error    = 4

    CASE sy-subrc.

    how to handle more then one transaction in bdc

    Hi vinod,
    Call one BDC after the another, Like if u want to create a sales order and then correspondingly display it as well, u can capture the sales order created afer ur first BDC theu the messages mostly in SYMSGV1 and using this u can do a call txn skip first screne of VA03.
    If u are talking about session, get 2 session names and move them to different sessions or if both txn are dependant on each other, move it one after the other thru call txn. It is the same, howmany ever trx u wabnt to post thru BDC.

  • Locking issue in workflow with conseutive database update

    Dear Workflowers,
    We are in ECC 5.0 and release 6.40. We went live for SAP in February and we are currently using workflow in PLM module for DMS and ECM.
    We have been facing this locking issue randomly happened in our production and quality system. The error from workflow log is "Document XXXX is locked by WF-BATCH". I have two steps in workflow one is to update the document user( from originator to editor with custom BO "zdraw" new method "setuser") and the next step is to update the document status( BO "zdraw" "setstatus" method which inherited form standard BO "draw").
    I have tried to use "wait" (1st try) , statements  "BAPI_DOCUMENT_ENQUEUE", "BAPI_DOCUMENT_DEQUEUE" (2nd try) and  "Commit work and wait" (3rd try) to add one step in between, however the issue remains.
    The other question I had was we need to write "commit work" when we use BAPI to perform database update in the ABAP program. But I don't see "commit work" in the method of BO(for example "setstatus" in "draw" object) which performs database update. How does workflow perform DB update properly without "commit work" by referencing standard method?
    Could anyone please share your expertise with the issue I am facing?
    Thank you in advance,
    Merta

    Hi Merta,
    Regarding COMMITs: theoretically you should never use COMMIT statements because the Workflow runtime handles that - the transaction of executing the task is the LUW, not your method. By adding COMMIT WORK you are also committing the workflow task execution.
    In practice however there are the occasional exceptions where something just won't work without an explicit commit - but the theory remains that you should always try it without.
    Regarding your problem, the one way to be certain that a DB update is complete is to use a terminating event - either through change documents or status management.
    Failing that, you can write a wrapper method for SETSTATUS that does something like:
    do 10 times.
      try to lock it.
      if success.
        unlock.
        swc_call_method self 'SetStatus' container.
        set success flag.
      else.
        wait up to 3 seconds.
      endif.
    enddo.
    if no success, raise exception.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi,
    To handle table control in BDC you will have to enter at least one record in the table control and there after use the index number to increment to the next line item.
    Say you run a recording for a transaction which has a table control (ME21), here after you have completed the recording, you'll see the code which will have sometjing like <fieldname>(01) and the entered value. that valeu has been entered as the first line item (01 being the index).
    You will have to replace the hard coded line item index with a variable and inside a loop increment the item index. Once you reach the maximum allowed line items on your screen juct press the pagedown button (or insert new row) and reset the index to 1.
    Following is a code snippet I used while uploading data for ME31K (vendor contract). It is not the complete code but does show how your code needs to be changed with using index for line items.
    Here we assumne that the maximun number of lines displayed at a time on the screen is 14.
    << Unformatable code removed >>
    Hope this helps.

    Sachin
