How to have Canvas3D look in other than Z-axis direction?

I've figured out how to move the canvas around, but how do you change its direction?!

U can simply do that even using a SimpleUniverse, you can just modify the Transform3D associated to the View, for example:
SimpleUniverse u = new SimpleUniverse(canvas);
Transform3D t3d = new Transform3D();
u.getViewingPlatform().getViewPlatformTransform().getTransform(t3d);
Transform3D deltaT3d = new Transform3D();
deltaT3d.rotX(Math.PI/2);
t3d.mul(deltaT3d);
u.getViewingPlatform().getViewPlatformTransform().setTransform(t3d);
in this way u rotare the view 90 degrees around X, so the rendering view is now directed along Y axis.
If u want the user to rotate the view, a simple KeyNavigatorBehavior does it using PgUp and PgDown key.
