How to keep the old jdbc log file

Hi,
whenever I restart the wls8.1, the jdbc logs are rewritten. I could not find my
previous log to debug anymore, how can i config to make write to a new file like
wls log. Thanks

Hi Jen!
This is bug in 8.1ga and sp1 and it is fixed ib 81sp2.
When you specify jdbc log name with ".log" suffix, jdbc logging doesn't
rotate as expected. So, the prior log file would be overwrited by new jdbc
log when you restart WLS.
Workaround
Remove ".log" from the file name. It would be added by WLS automatically.
Thanks,
Mitesh

    Friends,
Our restore method is cloning type.
today i fired this statement(this is one is usually do for the restore) "recover database until cancel using backup controlfile"
i have 60 files in the archive folder.
it executs only 50 files when it comes to 51st file it came out and says could not copy the file.
is that particular file is corrupted?
or is there any restriction in copying no of archivelog files? i mean only 60 files like that.....
suppose if the archive file is corrupted how can i correct it?
    thanks

Now, this is the error message....
ORA-00310: archived log contains sequence 17480; sequence 17481 required

ORA-00310 archived log contains sequence string; sequence string required
Cause: The archived log is out of sequence, probably because it is corrupted or
the wrong redo log file name was specified during recovery.
Action: Specify the correct redo log file and then retry the operation.so...from the above error messages.....i think the particular archive file(17481) is corrupted. now can i correct this corrupted archive file.
According to the above action, it says to specify the correct redo log file. if the file is not corrupted then where should i specify the redo log file's path?

  • Deleting the old Archive Log Files from the Hard Disk

    Hello All,
I want to delete the old archive files of Oracle. These files are very old and consuming very huge disk space.
Is there any way by which I can delete these files from the Hard Disk?
Can I directly delete them using the Operating System Command?
Will it cause any dilfference to the normal functioning of my Database?
If I need to delete these files, do I need to bring the database down?
    Please guide me.
I need to do this activity to make some space free on the Hard Disk.
    Thanks in advance.
    Himanshu

    Hi.
Keep archived logs from time of last backup and forward to currenct time on disk together with the backup itself. And keep older archived logs together with older warm/cold backupfiles on tape as long as there is enough capasity or following your recovery strategy. This way you might be able to roll forward a recovery without restoring these files from tape which often the faster.
Older archived logs can be deleted manually, with scheduled OS script or automatically with RMAN.
    Good luck

  • Change the Data and Log file locations in livecache

    Hi
We have installed livecache in unix systems in the /sapdb mount directory where the installer have created sapdata and sapdblog directories. But the unix team has already created two mount direcotries as follows:
    /sapdb/LC1/lvcdata and /sapdb/LC1/lvclog mount points.
While installing livecache we had selected this locations for creating the DATA and LOG volumes. Now they are asking to move the DATA and LOG volumes created in sapdata and saplog directories to these mount points. How to move the data and log file and make the database consistent. Is there any procedure to move the files to the mount point directories and change the pointers of livecahce to these locations.

  • Does Anybody know how to keep the license files and Certificates in ISE-3315 During the upgrade.

    Hi,
I have two ISE-3315 Appliances in production network.
I need someone's help to explain, how to make the Secondary node as the primary admin note to reset-config.
And then I would like to know how to keep the license files and Certificate during the Upgrade.
Please help me to answer my questions.
    Thanks
    CSCO11872447

The Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) provides distributed  deployment of runtime services with centralized configuration and  management. Multiple nodes can be deployed together in a distributed  fashion to support failover.
If you register a  secondary Monitoring ISE node, it is recommended that you first back up  the primary Monitoring ISE node and then restore the data to the new  secondary Monitoring ISE node. This ensures that the history of the  primary Monitoring ISE node is in sync with the new secondary node as  new changes are replicated.
Please  Check the below configuration guide for Secondary ISE- Nodes.

  • How to increase the size and the number of log files

    OS Win2000 BD version Oracle8.0.5
When i Execute a big Transaction, for example: Insert into a table with 100,000 records,
Oracle tell me that archive log require,
    but I write log_archive_start =true in init.ora;
I think Maybe the size of log file too small?
    Any other suggestion?
    Thanks

    Hello Long Guohui,
If your Database is running in Archive Log mode and if the Automatic Archiving is not enable then obviously Oracle
will ask that "Archive Log Required".
But if your Database is running with NoArchive Log mode then Oracle should never ask you that "Archive Log Required".
If your Database is running with Archive Log Mode then Oracle always recommends that the Tablespace where
you are going to Insert the 1,00,000 records, make that Tablespace Mode from Logging to Nologging, so that
Archive will not be generated for those entries because Redo does not Generate for that Tablespace as it is
Running in Nologging mode. If Redo generates for those 1,00,000 entries then it may affect the other DML
executing in you Database. So it is always recommended to do like this. But after the Insertion is done
successfully Oracle recommends immediately takes the Back of that Tablespace where you have just
    Inserted 1,00,000 Data.
    For making a Tablespace Nologging:
    ALTER TABLESPACE <TABLESPACE NAME> NOLOGGING;
For Making a Database from NoArchive to Archive:
    1)     SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE
    2)     IN THE init<sid>.ora FILE SET THE FOLLOWING PARAMETER WITH VALUE:
    LOG_ARCHIVE_START = TRUE
    3)     STARTUP MOUNT
    4)     ALTER DATABASE ARCHIVE LOG
    5)     ALTER DATABASE OPEN

I have a Macbook Pro 15" that is three and a half years old.  Although it has slowed a bit, it still runs well and runs every program I need. Any tips for how to keep this old computer running well and in good health?
I have a 250 gig drive and try to keep at least 100 gigs unused at all times, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory, back up with Time Machine and CrashPlan, and have OS X 10.7.3.
This was my first Mac since an old Apple II GS.  After that I used PC's and got really good at reformatting, replacing drives, reinstalling, defragging, resolving software conflicts, etc.  Since switching back to Macs (five in my extended family now), I haven't had to do any of those things. So, although, the cost is three times as much, the aggrevation has been ten times less.
I'm retired and living on a fixed income and would therefore like to keep this computer running as opposed to constatntly upgrading.
    That said, any tips?
    Thanks
It does have a crack on the left of the screen case about 3/4'' up from the bottom.  I've posted that as another question.

Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior.  Versions 1.5.1 and later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Adding more RAM, if feasible, and a new, faster hard drive may also help pep it up a little.

  • How To Fix: "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."

I can't reopen my iTunes after I have to force quit when it does not respond. I get this message:
"The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."
I've read to do the solutions. I right clicked on both the iTunes and Music folder and went to info for each. On both the lock at the bottom of the Get Info was locked. All of my users including admin can read and write all files within those folders. They are even a shared folder. I clicked on the lock to unlock it, typed in my admin password, and went to the gear to apply to all files inside. After doing that I keep getting the saved message.
I tried another way that I've found online to move my ituneslibrary folder to the desktop and then open my iTunes. In theory the iTunes is supposed to ask for where the iTunes library is. Once that is prompted you quit iTunes and drag the iTunes Library folder back to the folder from the desktop and reopen iTunes to apprently solve the problem. However, when I move the iTunes Library file to the desktop and try to reopne iTunes the icon just keeps bouncing and when I right click the application does not respond.
This problem is only resolved if I restart/shut down my macbook pro which is a 15-inch Core 2 Duo with intel. It will be 5 years old in December. I currently have Lion and the latest iTunes 10.5. This problem started in late December.

If you hold down the option key when starting iTunes, it will allow you to select a library or create a new one.
You can create a new one, and then add all of your iTunes music back in by simply dragging the old iTunes music file onto iTunes.
There are more detailed instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451#
It will show you how to re-build your iTunes database file.

  • Batch rename won't keep the extension on some files only

I have all my shrunk (resized to smaller for web) files in a sub folder. I got the idea here somewhere to rename such files by adding " _sm " this way being able to distinguish from the two when doing a search. In batch renaming something strange happened:some files did not keep their extension. How could this be and why? There was also no undo (Why?) so i decided to rename them once again this time replacing the "_sm" with ".jpg" in order to fool Bridge and place the files back to their original names and extensions.
Anyhow is there a reason why it would not keep the extension on some files while keep it on others? Since it's doing this in batch, therefore processing many files at once there's gotta be a reason why it would not treat all files as equals and I'm thinking that perhaps it has something to do with how I name my files.
    Thank you

If you select the opion to preserve the previous file name when batch renaming in Bridge then it's easy to revert… The old name will be stored in the files meta data…
If you have renamed the files again then I think this will have been overwritten… I think the property is name string and NOT array of name strings…

  • How to take the cron job log in HP UX?

    Hi,
How to take the cron job log in HP UX
I need to run a backup and other stuff everyday. How do I check and start cron service under HP-UX UNIX operating system? How do I write cron jobs?
    A. Cron service is required to run jobs and tasks such as backup.
You must login as the root to run following commands. Each user that is using the cron service must have a cron configuration file in the /var/spool/cron/crontab directory. Also users are permitted if their name appeared in /var/adm/cron/cron.allow file
Task: Find out if cron is running under HP-UX
Type the following command at a shell prompt
    # ps -ef | grep cron
    Open /etc/rc.config.d/cron file
    vi /etc/rc.config.d/cron
Set control variable to 1 to enable cron: CRON=1
Set control variable to 0 to disable: CRON=0
Close and save the file. To start or stop cron you can type the following command:
    # /sbin/init.d/cron start <-- start cron
    # /sbin/init.d/cron stop <-- stop cron
    Task: HP-UX Start cron service
If cron is not running, simply type:
    # cron
Task: Edit / create cron jobs
Type the following command to submit a cron job:
    # crontab -e
    List your cron file:
    # crontab -l
    Backup all your cron jobs:
    # crontab -l > ~/backup.cron.jobs
    Remove ALL cron job:
    # crontab -r
    Task: Crontab file format
Cron file format is as follows:
MIN HOUR DATE MONTH DAY /PATH/TO/COMMAND
    0-59 0-23 1-31 1-12 0-6 /root/scripts/backup2tape.shEasy to remember crontab file format:

    | ----------- Hour (0 - 23)
    ------------- Minute (0 - 59)To run /root/script/backup at 23:00, every day, enter:
    # crontab -e
    Append following
    0 23 * * * /root/script/backupRun foo job very weekday (MON-Fri) at 6am, enter:
0 6 * * 1-5 /root/script/backupFor more information refer to cron and crontab man pages.

You might note that all files normally found in /etc/init.d, /etc/rc*.d, and others are all in /sbin in HP-UX 10.20 and up.
Note too that your formatting is off in the description of the /etc/rc.config.d/cron file. Also, if you run /usr/bin/cron instead of /sbin/init.d/cron start, the /etc/rc.config.d/cron file is not used.

    I guess it would :)

Can't back up my Iphone5 to my macbook pro, it tells me it may be corrupted, also I don't know how to delete the old backup to redo it

    Hi Caveman337,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below will explain how to delete an old iTunes backup.  Before you do this, I would suggest creating an iCloud backup of your iPhone.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977
    Back up using iCloud
If you're using iCloud, it can automatically back up your content. Use these steps to turn on iCloud Backup:
Tap Settings > iCloud > Backup. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
Tap iCloud Backup to turn it on.
    Tap Back Up Now.
After you turn on iCloud Backup, iCloud will back up your content automatically. You can return to this screen to see when the last back up happened.
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/ht4946
    Where your backups are stored
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Delete a backup
If you want to delete a backup created by iTunes:
    Open iTunes Preferences:
    Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences. Learn how to turn on menus in Windows 7 and 8.
Click Devices. (The iOS device doesn't need to be connected.)
iTunes will show the phone number, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, and serial number of the backed up iPhone when you position your mouse pointer over a backup. (Only the serial number will be shown for iPad and iPod touch). You can use this to find the backup you want to delete.
Select the backup you want to remove.
    Click Delete Backup.
When prompted, confirm that you want to remove the selected backup by clicking Delete Backup.
Click OK to close the iTunes Preferences Window.
Backups that have a date and time stamp in the backup name are copies of backups created by restoring the iOS device. The date and time in the left column are when the restore-from-backup occurred. The date and time in the right column are the last synced date; this shows how current the data is.
I hope this information helps ....

  • In Adobe 8 how do you create a bates log file?

I love this feature in Adobe 9 where one can select "output options" and change the way the bates stamped PDF is saved, to create a log file of bates numbers per document, etc.  Are these same output options and bates log file options available in Adobe 8?  Basically, how do I create a bates log file in Adobe 8?

This is a great utility---thanks for sharing it!  The Javascripts folder can be hard to find--here's what worked for me:
For Macbook Pro users using Acrobat Pro X with OS X version 10 or greater,  you’ll want to copy the unzipped “UVSAR_selectiveFlatten.js”  file into the JavaScripts folder located in this path:
    /Applications/Adobe Acrobat X Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/Resources/JavaScripts
*** IMPORTANT:  To be able to see the Contents folder, you must Right-Click (Ctrl-Click if you don't have a right button) on the filename "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app", then select Show Package Contents from the pop-down menu.  The Contents folder will appear in a new window and you can navigate to  Contents/Resources/JavaScripts, and put the “UVSAR_selectiveFlatten.js” into the JavaScripts folder.
Once you've done that, restart Acrobat Pro and you'll find the "Flatten" option in your Edit menu.  VERY handy!  Tip:  might want to save your original PDF file as a different version just to be safe---once you flatten the PDF, it can't be undone, so either just print and don't save, or save as different version if need be.
