How to label/name a wire output from a case diagram

I like how Labview displays the "name" of a wire - when it shows the right name!  Sometimes when a wire leaves a Case diagram, I notice it has the name of the wire in one case when I would prefer it to have the name from one of the other cases, and I wonder if I have worked out which case it uses - the last case.  The problem is that the typical Boolean Case diagram only has 2 cases, and you can't re-arrange the cases, except if you add a dummy case, rearrange, then delete the dummy case.  The attached VI illustrates the difference in the name of the blue wire (use the mouse hovering over the wire to see it). (LV 8.2.1)
I think it would be nice if we could label the output tunnel of case diagrams (and hence the wire emerging from it).  It wouldn't need to be a visible label, but it would help to document the code.  What do you think?

  • Labelling wires can be made easy ..!! Take the control Name as default - Label Name for wire

Wire : Right Click --> Visbile --> Label  (Its void Now )
Solution : It can take the control Name as default label of the wire,  instead of  being Void
Not sure if this idea is already proposed.

Ya true, in the above case it should take the indicator Label
It's just as easy to construct a case where there are multiple sinks to the wire and then you can't just say "take the indicator label". My point was that I don't want NI spending time on figuring that out and writing that code.
As for your second example, now there's suddenly even more magic in there - The wire labels somehow gained the brackets and the wires which have an uninitialized shift register as a source somehow know that they should take the labels from other wires in the loop.
If you think the logic for this is simple, you can try writing a Quick Drop shortcut which will do this - for all selected elements which are wires, go find their ultimate source and take its label and apply it to the wire. I think if you try that you'll appreciate why I don't want NI to spend time on this. You might also find that the tool you wrote works well enough for you and you can use it right now without having to wait for NI.

Buy a video to USB converter.
Buy a more expensive video to Firewire converter (it may give better quality).
Find an older mini DV camera with 'video in' to make transfers to tape to capture from.

  • How do I keep a digital output from SCC DO01 from fluctuating states?

Background: Hooking an ohm-meter across a digital output from a SCC DO01 isolated optical switch shows that the resistance fluctuates and at times goes open circuit. It appears directly related to the LabView code where I'm writing to this digital line within a WHILE loop. The loop has a variety of other operations going on. These other operations, I believe, are causing this problem due to timing or something.
How can I improve the reliability of this digital output? There must be some method of establishing priority within a WHILE loop.
    Really appreciate the help.

    Howdy, Justin
    Thanks for your reply.
I've actually been connecting the meter across Vss and Vout. Actuating the digital output, I can see the state of the switch. Attached is the VI which involves this DO01, specifically, it's associated with the VFD RUN/STOP.
Since I sent this question out, I've actually gotten some help from Andy Watchorn of NI. This switch holds state much better.
    All the best,

  • How can I programatically control the names of files output from Labview into .pdf format (ie with Adobe PDF Writer or Distiller)?

I would like to save some data forms for a standard test controlled with labview in a pdf format. Due to the large number of forms and test reports, I would like to have Labview automatically assign the .pdf file name based on test number already contained in the labview code. How can I do this.
Note: This question is very similar to:
"Labview and Adobe Acrobat output" posted by John Balone on 1/26/2000. The reponses offered good suggestions but it is not clear to me how to implement them.

  • How can I get the Conditoned output from PXI 1520 in PXI 1011 combined Chassie?

    Respected Sir,
I am using PXI-SCXI combined Chassie PXI 1011 for my application. I have placed three SCXI 1520 modules, a motion card PXI 7352 and PXI 6052E DAQ card in the combined chassie. You know the PXI 1520 and PXI 6052E are connected internally using the Backplane of the SCXI and is not user accessable. Now I need the conditioned output of the PXI 1520 to be used as an Analog input for the Motion Control card PXI 7352. How can I do that? Whether PXI 1180 could solve my problem? If so, how do I connect the PXI 1180 to PXI 1011?
Kindly clarify me as soon as possible.
    Thanking you,

  • How do I create multiple crop outputs from ACR?

In CS5.5 my workflow involved selecting a number of RAW files and opening in ACR. I could make corrections as required, but also apply individual crops to each image. For instance, twenty might be set to 10"x8", another ten to 15"x12" and thirty to 8"x6". When I then clicked done. I could run image processor on the files and point to a hotfolder on the network which was watched by the RIP running the printer. The RIP could then pick up the files, composite them, and start the print queue. it was a hugely efficient system.
That now seems to have been given the kiss of death because the crop tool in ACR no longer offers any option other than a ratio. My understanding from these forums is that output size is now governed by the workflow options dialogue box. But the problem with that is that it applies the same output size to every image selected, not to mention the fact that instead of opening one dialogue box (namely the custom crop tool), I now need to open two.
I am at a loss to see how this is a more efficient system. Please give us back the facility to set custom crops with different output sizes, or failing that, can someone explain to me how I now do what I was doing without having to do twice as much work? Otherwise I may as well cancel my CC subscription and go back to 5.5

Are all the file specs that you set up in Image Processor available in the Save Image button in ACR?
If so, your steps could look like this:
With Crop tool, set image to correct proportions.
In Workflow Options, choose preset you made for 10x8.
Click Save Image button, choose preset you made for format/file specs, click Save.
While that is processing in the background, repeat steps 2-3 for the next two image dimensions. The odd one is the 8x6 dimension because it doesn't match the proportions of the first two, so for that one you'd have to go back to step 1.
If you can accomplish your entire workflow in Camera Raw, and if I haven't misunderstood what you need, this could end up being a more efficient workflow overall by saving the trip out to Image Processor.
Of course, this assumes you've set up presets (a relatively new ACR feature) for your standard dimensions and file specs so that you can keep the number of clicks to a minimum.

  • How to I connect Sourcing digital output from My Interface Board to NI USB 6501 channel configured as Digital input

When I connect an input to DI channel of USB 6501 card  from my board which has sourcing Output t, iIn the Off state it is not pulled down properly. The volatge on the port in is 2.1V -2.5V based on the pull down resistor on my board. I suspect that  it acts as a voltage divider.
The state on the card is still show as "HIGH "state, even my sourcing output driver has a pull down  resister.  when I use this interface board for PCI mseries devices it works fine. Do the pull down resister on my sourcing output is not worth. Is this because of pull up resister 4.7k inside USB card 6501.
USB 6501 specifications shows the Digital input accepts both source and sink modes. By default the card is in sourcing digital input mode. How do we can convert this in Sinkind digital input mode.
Could anyone Please give your suggestions to overcome this issue .
    Thanks you.

You really should not have both a pull up and pull down on the same line.  Really weird things can happen.  If you insist on having a pull down on your board, then I highly recommend putting a digital buffer chip between the DAQ and your board.
Some boards with DIO have a pull up, while others have pull down.  You just have to watch the specs.

  • How to synchronize analog input and output from two different USB daq boards

    Hi all,
I have two very differnt USB boards the NI USB 6008, which I am using to acquire the data (Analog Input) and a NI USB 9263, it is an Analog Output only board that I am using to deliver a signal (in this case a square pulse). The reason why I am not using the 6008 Analog Ouputs is because I need to deliver negative voltages and need the full +/-10V range.
Looking at similar posts I am pretty sure that I can't use an external trigger or a shared clock, I also tried to use the synchronization of timed structures but no cigar.
I am including a quick vi that I whipped out showing how the signal jitters due to the lack of synchronization. The AO from the 9263 connects to the AI in the 6008 in this example.
    Solved!

  • How do I get good DVD output from FX7 footage?

I just videotaped a dance concert and when I transferred the video to my computer and output it to a DL DVD, the quality is nowhere near as good as a straight HDMI connection to a TV. It doesn't even look that good on the computer in Premiere elements before I output to DVD. I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 7. I don't know if it's the project settings for the transfer, I chose HDV 1080i 30. Is Premiere Elements maybe not going to give me what I want? My Camera is a Sony HDR-FX7
    thanks,
    Eric

I assume you are working with high definition video in a high definition project preset and burning as a standard DVD. How much video do you have on the DVD... for maximum quality (8Mbps with PE7) you are limited to a little over an hour for a SL DVD and 2 hours for a DL DVD. Any more footage and the bitrate will be reduced lowering the quality. If the quality is still poor you could try downconverting in the cam and capturing as DV-AVI and working in a standard definition project in PE7. Certainly in early versions of Premiere Elements this gave better quality
Other thing to consider is that your standard definition footage played on a DVD (which is a compressed format as well) is never going to look as good as the high definition video played over HDMI from the camcorder.

  • How to do selectable filtering of output from table-function

Hi - I have been looking carefully but can't see the answer to my question in the forums so I have had to resort to asking!  Apologies if this is covered elsewhere - my newbie state indicates I am fumbling in the dark here!
I have a report which comes from a table-function.  This produces hundreds of lines of output which the user would like to be able to select and then export just the subset of lines.
Looking at the Forum's (this article and this one) this seems possible if you are working with a table where you can re-query the original dataset with just a specific rowset required however as the table-function is generating output on the fly it is hard to rerun the query to reselect the same output for redisplay.  Also most of the reports are working with interactive reports - whilst this is just static output.
Is there a way to redisplay the information which has already been shown in an filtered way with check boxes?
Is there then a way to have hidden fields which are not shown when the check boxes are selected but which can be shown in the "filtered" view?
I am using Apex 4.0 at the moment on an Oracle 10g instance.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Malcolm

I got a soluce with no swap.
    I created a new column (E)
In E2, the formula is :
    =B&IF(ISBLANK(A),"",MONTH(A))
    Apply Fill Down
In table of each company, I inserted a 2nd header row so that I may store the name of the company in A1.
In A3, the formula is :
    =IFERROR(OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,MATCH($A$1&ROW()-2,Tableau 1 :: $E,0)-1,0),"")
in B3, the formula is :
    =IFERROR(OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $D$1,MATCH($A$1&ROW()-2,Tableau 1 :: $E,0)-1,0),"")
    Select A3:B3 then Fill Down.
    That's all folks !

  • How do I adjust bitrate when outputting from AE -Apple ProRes422?

    Hi -
I'm delivering a 30 second spot to Comcast.
Their spec sheet names Apple ProRes422 for compression  - and I found that with no problem in AE (5.5).
They also request interlace/bottom first - which I also found in the settings.
Lastly (in an ftp spec sheet) they require bitrate between 10 and 15 Mbs - this I cannot find in AE output module.  In fact, it seems that if I use Apple ProRes422, then the bitrate is not selectable.  If I use H264 I can adjust the bitrate.
How can I adjust the bitrate to meet their specs?  Does ProRes422 equal the correct, requested bitrate by default?
    TIA your input.
    jl

I rendered out a version with Apple ProRes422 Proxy and the quality was extremely low... So last night, out of frustration... endered out an H264 version, and uploaded it.... If the output doesn't pass muster I'm sure I'll hear about it.  Stay tuned.
You'll probably hear about it.  These folks apparently want the ProRes 422 codec, not the H.264 codec.  You have to understand that ProRes codecs come in a variety of flavors.  In decreasing order of quality they are:
    ProRes 4444
    ProRes HQ
    ProRes 422
    ProRes LT
    Prores Proxy
If the H.264 file slips through, write back.  We'll stay tuned.

  • How to toggle LED at analog output from my VI Using NI USB 6009

    Greetings,
I bought this NI USB 6009 Multifunction I/O and found various uses for it. In my VI, I am acquiring some signals using the DAQ assistant. After doing a couple manipulation I would like to toggle a LED at one of the two Analog outputs available. I tried configure it in Max and was able to toggle it there, but now I would like to have the VI do it once a certain value is attained. Can anyone  tell me how this is done as I think I might be doing something incorrect.
    Thanks
    Edward

    Greetings,
Attached you will find just a simple code to turn on the LED if the indicator on the VI's front panel illuminates. In my original code it is something similar. I have also check the wiring and I don't think that's the problem since I was able to toggle it through Max. I am using LV 2009. When  the output channel was configured in Max, the output voltage was set to range from 0-5V. I am not sure if the DAQ  Assistant  analog output is being triggered properly.
OK, Lets say that I wanted to turn on the LED if a number was greater than the one stored in memory. How would I pass that to the NI USB 6009 to turn on a External LED. Please assume that the output is wired properly.
    Thanks
    Edward
