How to load time dimension informatica...

Hi, im new to datawarehouse... Can anybody tell me,how to load time dimension informatica...
Thanks and Regards,
jagadish.

Do you mean Informatica, the ETL tool? If you do then I would post your question on the Informatica website as we typically use Oracle Warehouse Builder and Analytic Workspace Manager here at Oracle.
If you want to know hoe to generate a time dimension table, then I would recommend using the Time Dimension Wizard in Warehouse Builder as this will automatically create the target dimension table and populate all the required levels with the correct data values. There is more information on the OWB OTN Home Page

  • How the loading time populate in a standard dilivery

I want to know how the loading time and date is being populated.
    Please reply ASAP.

    Hi,
if You have no results in "Where is used" list, then it is called dynamically
    - problably information about this is stored in a database (somewhere...).
    I suggest following steps:
    1. Put breakpoint with Your user id in PAI module (if You know / are able to guess t-code which uses it).
If You get debugger screen - check the call stack
    2. In PAI module write few instructions to store t-code, report, etc. (or just whole SYST structure) in Z-table.
After some time check if the screen exit was called and from which transaction.
    3. You can also store in PAI module whole call stack in Z-table using SYSTEM_CALLSTACK function module.

  • How to use time dimension.

    Hi All,
I have to create a report that will show the worth of portfolio based on time frame that is monthly, quarterly, yearly and since inception.
How can i proceed because i have never used time dimension?
Further i have only one column "Date" in the portfolio table that has a corresponding
worth value. SO i need to create the dimension based on this date column.
    Pls help me
    Thanks

If all you want is to achieve drills from Month, Quarter and Year then treat it as a normal dimension and create the levels. But if you want to do calculations like YTD, QTD and MTD then you need to create a time dimension. Check my blog entry here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/05/oracle-bi-ee-101332-understanding-todate-and-ago-achieving-ytd-qtd-and-mtd/ for creating a sample time dimension. Also, you need to manually create logical columns corresponding to the levels that you need. So, if you have only a date column then create logical columns Year, Month and Quarter from this column and then create the time dimension.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • How to load Time Capsule on updated hard drive

The hard drive on my 2007 Macbook crashed, and it was replaed (was a recall for my hard drive, so replaced with similar HD loaded with OS X). On the initial set-up, I wasn't able to load straight from Time Capsule (prompted for "x509anchors" password, also asked for logins/passwords that Im not sure I entered correctly), so I chose to do it later.
I completed the basic setup (choosing language, country, etc) and found the Time Capsule. I was able to connect to it and can see a sparse bundle file as well as some other files I stored on it. But I can't figure out what I need to do to load/restore it back with all the pre-crash info.
The sparse bundle file is 260GB - connected with an ethernet cord, how long will the process take?
A little nervous to mess anything up as I'm scared to lose anything - this backup is all I have.

    bas351 wrote:
Is there an easy fix to clear the gray screen, or do you think there may be something corrupted that I restored from my Time Machine
Probably. Apparently whatever was going wrong with your HD corrupted some things, which got backed up, then brought back with the restore.
(should I try to restore from a previous TM date - as opposed to the most recent)?
Given how long it took, I'd recommend just installing OSX. If you're on Snow Leopard, that won't affect anything else. If you're on Leopard, you'll need to do an +Archive and Install.+ Then download and install the "combo" update. See [Installing the ''combo'' update and/or Reinstalling OSX|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Combo.html].
Once you get it running, check as many apps and data files as you can; some of them may have been corrupted, too. If so, you should be able to selectively reinstall them from older backups via the "Star Wars" display. See #15 in the FAQ.
By the way, please click +My Settings+ at the right of this page and supply the details of your Mac and what version of OSX you're running.

  • How to load time machine on a used macbook pro

I recently was given a used MacBook pro.  My old MacBooks logic board was going and eventually went, but before it did I used time machine to back it up.  I want to load my time machine macbook info onto the pro.  I cant seem to do this, since TimeMachine just wants to create a new profile for the new Mac on the external.  How can I do this? They are both running the OS X 10.8.2
    Thanks,
    Nate

Just startup in Recovery mode (Command and R keys held down whilst booting) and boot into your Recovery partition. Make sure that your TM backup is hooked up. In the utility menu, select 'restore from Time Machine' option. You'll be able to choose the drive and the latest TM backup.
    Good luck,

  • How to load time only no date using sql loader

I want to load just time portion from the data, the data looks like this
    08/10/09 ,FZ10, AD2R, DFHMIRS , 14, 01:12:07.001230, 01:02:07.112354, TRANS PURGED / TIMED OUT ,
    control file:
    LOAD DATA
    APPEND
    INTO TABLE TRANS_ABENDS
    FIELDS TERMINATED ',' TRAILING NULLCOLS
         TRANS_DATE           DATE "MM/DD/YYYY",
         TRANS_ID          ,
         ABEND_CODE          ,
         ABEND_PGM           ,
         ABEND_COUNT           ,
         RESPONSE_TIME      "to_date(:RESPONSE_TIME,'dd/mm/yy HH:MI:SS.ffffff')",
         CPU_TIME          "to_date(:RESPONSE_TIME,'dd/mm/yy HH:MI:SS.ffffff')",
         ABEND_RESOLUTION     ,
         INSTANCE          CONSTANT 'EAST'
I can load the time using the control file but it adds the first of the month as date in the column. I want to load only time value. Appreciate any help on this.

I meant, how are these columns defined in the table that is being loaded?
If these are defined as DATE, then as was pointed out Oracle will default the date portions if they are not provided in the formatted string.
If these are defined as NUMBER (with some fractional portion), then you could use a combination of substr, multiplication and concatenation to derive the time as number in the form <seconds>.<fractional seconds>.
You could also look into the data type INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND.
    SQL> create table trans_abends (
      2   trans_date date,
      3   trans_id char(4),
      4   abend_code char(4),
      5   abend_pgm char(8),
      6   abend_count number(4),
      7   response_time interval day (0) to second (6),
      8   cpu_time interval day (0) to second (6)
      9  )
    10  /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into trans_abends values (sysdate, 'xxxx', 'xxxx', 'xxxxxxxx', 1, to_dsinterval('+0 01:12:07.001230'), to_dsinterval('+0 01:02:07.112354') )
      2  /
    1 row created.
    SQL> select response_time, cpu_time from trans_abends;
    RESPONSE_TIME
    CPU_TIME
    +0 01:12:07.001230
+0 01:02:07.112354For the sql loader control file, try
    "to_dsinterval('+0 '||:RESPONSE_TIME)"
    not tested.

  • Loading of time dimension

    Hi,
I started thinking about what the best way to load the time dimension is. Until now I have loaded data for 10-15 years in advance into the dimension to be done with it. One down side to this is that when you create or view reports, you might see the year 2015 but for obvious reasons there won't be any data loaded for this year. Another thing I started thinking of the other day is how this may affect the performance and the loadtime of the cube.
If all dimensions is set to not be sparse and you have loaded 10 years that's not yet in use, the size of the cube, from what I understand, will be unnecessarily large. This will probably also have an affect on the loadtime.
If you set all the dimensions except for the time dimension as sparse, as AWM sets it as default, how will this affect the size of the cube?
Anyone have any thoughts around this?
    Regards Ragnar

    Hi,
I need to load time dimensions to have data till 2015. Moreover we have just regular time dimensions tables and no fiscal tables.
We have updated the fiscal data file to include data till 2015 and update DAc parameter Analysis end date to 31/12/2015. Data is loaded in these tables till 2015 but the ETL is failing for analyze W_ETL_RUN_S task.(param-g table contans 256 rows inspite of just 1 record)
I checked the OBI guide and found that parameters $$Start_date and $$End_Date needs to be set.
I am not sure if Analysis end date in DAC-> ETL prefernces is same as $$End_Date . Also, I could not see any start date parameter. I have checked mapping parameter as well.
It would be really great if you could tell the exact steps followed to extend the datawarehouse.

  • Need Help Urgently - Want to Load Time Data Automatically into Oracle HRMS

    Hi All,
I am on my 1st Oracle HRMS project and I need urgent help on HOW TO load Time (IN/OUT) Data from a MS Access database which is populated by a Biometric Hand Geometry System.
And we need to do it in real time as the data inserted in the MS Access Database we need to pull that into Oracle HRMS for Payroll purposes.
If somebody can help me in this I'll greatly appreciate that.
Thanks, AGAIN IT IS VERY URGENT
    Zee

    Zee,
Let's go back to your core requirement "load Time (IN/OUT) Data from a MS Access database which is populated by a Biometric Hand Geometry System".
    Questions:
    1. Is this time data to be used to pay a person through Oracle Payroll?
    2. What legislation (country) is this for?
    3. Are you using Oracle Time and Labor (OTL) as the front-end or do you intend to enter the data directly into Oracle Payroll?
    See the following OTL documents:

  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 11GR2 -no time dimension wizard?

    Hi,
I am running OWB 11GR2 on top of a 11GR2 database (OEL 5.4 64 bit).
I don't have a time dimension wizard, just a normal wizard. What I do is right-click, new dimension....but no time wizard. How can I activate it?
I have installed everything several times, but no luck...
    Can anyone help, please?

    Hi
Right Johnny. This happened when we moved to the new UI, all objects can be created using the New 'gallery' style approach, not exactly intuitive for how you remember time dimensions being created but it's still all there.
    Cheers
    David

  • How do I include 'Time' in a time dimension?

I have a requirement where I need to classify the data in the warehouse based on date and time (example : between 10 am to 11 am, 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm like that).
The time dimension created by OWB contains only the date part and when I load the data I use the expression TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(input,'YYYYMMDD')) to populate the date.
But I would like to include the time also in the expression like 'YYYYMMDDHHMISS'. But unfortunately the OWB generated time dimension does not have data in this format.
How do I do that? Any pointers?
    thanks in advance

You rather create 2 dimensions: Time and TimeOfDay. The first one will have all the date values with it characteristics. The second one will hold the all the possible HH24:MI:SS values with it's characteristics, for example which hour and which part of the day it is (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Midnight or whether it's lunch time or not), depending on the requirements.
If you try to combine them both into 1 dimension you will get 86400 dimension records every day. Your dimension table will probably will become bigger than the fact tables.

  • How to time dimension

How do you link a time dimension to the fact table?
If the time dimension has a sequence as the PK then
    the following columns:
    year
    month
    quarter
    day
    time
    etc..
How is the fact table connected to the time dimension if the fact table has the
primary key as a FK in the fact table?
    -Jim

    Hi Ragnar
Because a date is in fact stored as a number you don't need a surrogate key for your time dimension. You can make the primary key the date itself. Then you just join from the fact to the time dimension on the date.
Oh yes, you would need to populate the time dimension before loading the fact table. But then this is true of all star schemas. You must populate the dimensions before you populate the facts.
However, in the case of time, because it never changes over time (pardon the pun) you could load years of dates way out into the future. Then you would never have to worry about it for a while.
I have customers who are using E-Business Suite where the time dimension is fed from GL_PERIODS and BOM_CALENDAR_DATES. Because the periods are entered once per year in most cases then they only need to run the load once per year. Matrialized vieww of time work well too.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Michael

  • How to tune data loading time in BSO using 14 rules files ?

    Hello there,
I'm using Hyperion-Essbase-Admin-Services v11.1.1.2 and the BSO Option.
In a nightly process using MAXL i load new data into one Essbase-cube.
In this nightly update process 14 account-members are updated by running 14 rules files one after another.
These rules files connect 14 times by sql-connection to the same oracle database and the same table.
I use this procedure because i cannot load 2 or more data fields using one rules file.
It takes a long time to load up 14 accounts one after other.
Now my Question: How can I minimise this data loading time ?
This is what I found on Oracle Homepage:
    What's New
    Oracle Essbase V.11.1.1 Release Highlights
Parallel SQL Data Loads- Supports up to 8 rules files via temporary load buffers.
In an Older Thread John said:
As it is version 11 why not use parallel sql loading, you can specify up to 8 load rules to load data in parallel.
    Example:
    import database AsoSamp.Sample data
connect as TBC identified by 'password'
    using multiple rules_file 'rule1','rule2'
    to load_buffer_block starting with buffer_id 100
    on error write to "error.txt";
But this is for ASO Option only.
Can I use it in my MAXL also for BSO ?? Is there a sample ?
What else is possible to tune up nightly update time ??
Thanks in advance for every tip,
    Zeljko

Thanks a lot for your support. I’m just a little confused.
I will use an example to illustrate my problem a bit more clearly.
This is the basic table, in my case a view, which is queried by all 14 rules files:
    column1 --- column2 --- column3 --- column4 --- ... ---column n
    dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- data1 --- data2 --- data3 --- ... --- data 14
    Region -- ID --- Product --- sales --- cogs ---- discounts --- ... --- amount
    West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 11001 --- 1,322 --- 10789 --- ... --- 548
    West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 12011 --- 1,325 --- 10548 --- ... --- 589
    West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 14115 --- 1,699 --- 10145 --- ... --- 852
    West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 21053 --- 1,588 --- 10998 --- ... --- 981
    East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 15563 --- 1,458 --- 10991 --- ... --- 876
    East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 15894 --- 1,664 --- 11615 --- ... --- 156
    East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 19689 --- 1,989 --- 15615 --- ... --- 986
    East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 18897 --- 1,988 --- 11898 --- ... --- 256
    East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 11699 --- 1,328 --- 12156 --- ... --- 9896
Following 3 out of 14 (load-) rules files to load the data columns into the cube:
    Rules File1:
    dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- sales --- ignore --- ignore --- ... --- ignore
    Rules File2:
    dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- ignore --- cogs --- ignore --- ... --- ignore
    Rules File14:
    dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- ignore --- ignore --- ignore --- ... --- amount
Is the upper table design what GlennS mentioned as a "Data" column concept which only allows a single numeric data value ?
In this case I cant tag two or more columns as “Data fields”. I just can tag one column as “Data field”. Other data fields I have to tag as “ignore fields during data load”. Otherwise, when I validate the rules file, an Error occurs “only one field can contain the Data Field attribute”.
Or may I skip this error massage and just try to tag all 14 fields as “Data fields” and “load data” ?
    Please advise.
Am I right that the other way is to reconstruct the table/view (and the rules files) like follows to load all of the data in one pass:
    dim 0 --- dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- data
    Account --- Region -- ID --- Product --- data
    sales --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 11001
    sales --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 12011
    sales --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 14115
    sales --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 21053
    sales --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 15563
    sales --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 15894
    sales --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 19689
    sales --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 18897
    sales --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 11699
    cogs --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 1,322
    cogs --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 1,325
    cogs --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 1,699
    cogs --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 1,588
    cogs --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 1,458
    cogs --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 1,664
    cogs --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 1,989
    cogs --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 1,988
    cogs --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 1,328
    discounts --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 10789
    discounts --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 10548
    discounts --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 10145
    discounts --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 10998
    discounts --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 10991
    discounts --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 11615
    discounts --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 15615
    discounts --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 11898
    discounts --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 12156
    amount --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 548
    amount --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 589
    amount --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 852
    amount --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 981
    amount --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 876

    amount --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 986
    amount --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 256
    amount --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 9896
And the third way is to adjust the essbase.cfg parameters DLTHREADSPREPARE and DLTHREADSWRITE (and DLSINGLETHREADPERSTAGE)
I just want to be sure that I understand your suggestions.
    Many thanks for awesome help,

Below are the basic steps which we follow in any BI 2004S system:
1)Create datasource. Here u can set/check the Soucre System fields.
2)Create Transformation for that datasource. (no more update rules/transfer rules)
2.1) While creating transformation for DS it will ask you for data target name, so just assign where u want to update ur data.
DataSource -> Transformation -> Data Target
Now if you want to load data into data target from Source System Datasource:
    1) Create infopackage for that data source. If you are creating infopackage for new datasources, it will only allow you update upto PSA, all other options u can see as disabled.
2)Now Create DTP (Data Transfer Process) for that data source.
    3) NOw schdule the Infopackage, once the data is loaded to PSA, you can execute your DTP which will load data to data target.
If you are loading data from one one data target to other, no need to use PSA, you can directly execute DTP in that case.
    Data Source -> Transformation (IP/DTP) -> Data Target1 -> DTP ->Data Target 2
Use the below link for detailed example:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/fc61e12d-0a01-0010-2883-e2fc63ef729b
Infosources are no more mandatory with BI 7.0, below is the link to scenarios where we use infosources:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/44/0243dd8ae1603ae10000000a1553f6/content.htm
Full or delta depends on your requirement...
chk the below thread to know better
    difference between the various loads
    hope it helps
