TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Hi,
I have a form to update the existing values in a table. Primary column is based on a Select List.
So when user goto update screen they SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE the primary filed(means the value display in the Select List).
SO to make this one I have make that select list read only. But not like other items even when we make select list read only it still allow user to change the value. So basically read only property not working for select text.
There are many post in this regading same issue. Some of them recomended to make it disabled. But when we make a item disabled then when user POST that form, Apex not POST any disabled item values. Basically disabled items values not passing next form. So making item dissable also not a solution.
I have read almost 20 post in here regarrding this and didnt get any solution for this. So please let me know if anyone knows how to make a select list read only (which is working same as read only text boxes, means that value pass when user POST the form).

I believe the only way to do what you want would be to either choose a thicker font or push up the font size (which would also affect the font height).

The easiest way, would either be to:
a) if it is all one clip, simply copy it from the timeline of the first project, then paste it into the timeline or browser of the second project
b) if it is more than one clip, export only that part of the sequence as described here to a Quicktime Movie:

I have a hard drive that I'm going to use as a safety backup. I've filled it with files and folders and am going to store it off site. I'd like to retain a list of what I've got on there, for reference.
I can make a complete list of what's on there, with UNIX 'ls -R', but it's huge and you can't encapsulate the folders, it just lists everything. I need a document that reproduces the list of files and folders in the same way that the finder does. Is there any program that does that?

I've seen third-party backup utilities that provide that sort of catalogue interface, but I can't name any off hand.
Yep, I even used to have one, way back in OS 7 thru 8.6 on my 8600. I think it was something from Iomega, they used to give you several free tools, and I believe a catalogue maker was one of them. I think it broke with some version of OS 9, and I got a shareware program called DiskTracker. Both did exactly what is wanted: they would catalog any sort of disk, be it drive, removable media (I had a bunch of Syquest EZDrive cartrides), even CDs. You would open the file in the program, and navigate just like in the Finder. Don't remember just how much information was preserved about files.
Try going to VersionTracker, and do a search on disk inventory or catalog software, I'm sure there are still such things around, though I doubt they would be free.

How to make multi-box fields for name or address in a PDF form to be filled in?

I would like to know how to make fields for name and address in a PDF form.
I am now using Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows Vista. I have downloaded a form in the format of a PDF file. Basically it is just a file holding images of pages of the document, and there are no fields for me to type something on it using computer. This form will be used frequently by me, but I don't want to print it out and fill it in every time by hand. I want to fill it in in the computer and print copies of it when needed. The output will then be much more neat and tidy.
I have seen PDF forms with blanks for typing name and address, which means the form can be filled in on the computer before printing. They are special, as these blanks allow users to type name and address with every character occupying a box in the field, which consists of ten boxes or so. These are not ordinary textfields. I want to make similar inputting field as well.
Does anyone knows something about making these input fields with each character using 1 little box in the multi-box field? Any ideas are appreciated.

How to make hidden Drop Lists functional in RBList Subforms?

I have created a form that contains 3 isolated Radio Button lists, each with hidden subforms that are unique per each button.
Two of my RBLists and subforms work perfectly, showing hidden Drop Down List options and other fields as they should when a button is selected.
However, RBList3 presents the Drop Down lists as user entry fields only. Each hidden subform in RBList3 contains one drop down menu and one text box for instructions.
I've used the same javascript to hide/show hidden fields when buttons are selected. All settings seem to match up. Here is a sample of my code:

else if(RBList3.F.rawValue == 2)

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make my Drop Down Lists in RBList3 show as functional Drop lists?

How to make a smart list of photos containing any keyword

I want to get all my keywords embedded. I think a workaround is to make a smart list that has all my photos which contain any key word. Export all these photos. Then import them back in using auto arrange by event.

How to make dependent choice lists grow dynamically?

Is it possible to have dependent choice list which grow as the new content is added for choice list item?
E.g If we have countries, states, cities as dependent choice lists. If contributor adds a new country the value should appear in the drop down next time. That value of country can be in turn be used to add states for it. The id of state in trun should be used to add cities. Is this possible?

by the way, it is very simple to let opltion lists grow dynamically, and moreover to have a predefined structure before.
First you create a table and fill the view for this table with you start values, as it has been described before in this thread.
Then you make the option list for the field Edit and Select.
And then, as you know, your predefined values are stored in your custom schTable (whatever the name is), but all the values entered by the user are stored in DOCMETA table!
All you need to do is to create a trigger with SQL Developer, so that on update and insert in table DOCMETA for your custom metadata field it is checked whether this value is already in your predefined option list stored in your schTable.
And if the value is not there, make the trigger add a new record to custom table with this value and related values as well.
Simple.
This is true for any option list with predefined value and updated by the end-user.
If it is dependent option list, then you need to add both values for parent and child fields in your custom table.
There is another problem for which I can not find a solution --> if the field depends on two fields...

How to make a linked list?

I've seen how to implement a linked list in oracle ? but it's not what I'm interested in.
First of all, it is just a curiosity, no serious task behind it. I think I've almost made a linked list (of chars) type, however it misses the notion of empty list and thus I virtually cannot construct it.

I was able copy the hardrive of my old macbook from "My Passport" onto the desktop on an older iMac. but i dont know how to make my hardrive and user name be the main one since someone had used it in the past and had their info on the comp. please help!

I recently broke my 2008 macbook. i was able to use an external hardrive to back up my data onto My Passport. I was going to buy a new computer but a friend told me sher had an older version of the iMac. (not sure how old but it doesnt have a camera if that helps) i was able to hook it up and turn it on but i ran into a few problems. 1) the "authentic" user or whatever it says is someone who previously used the computer. i added me as a user but im not sure how to make me the main user. 2) after hooking up My Passport, i was able to drag my files and copy them to the desktop.(i think i did it correctly) now, i dont know how to make my hard drive and applications and iformation the "main " info. The current apps on the iMac are super old versions of iTunes and iPhoto and such. 3) while trying to open the apps from my macbook on the iMac, it said it didnt have the right software to open these apps.
I am so computer illiterate so someone please help!!! Also, i do not have internet in my new apartment yet so if there is a way to make this happen without using the internet that would be preferred. sorry for the horrible spelling and poorly written paragraph.

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.
