How to manipulate LOBS from Forms 6i

Having a LOB column, how do I get to extract the data in it using Forms 6i?
If I try to use the dbms_lob package, forms dies horribly when using a LOB locator in select
declare
limg blob;
begin
select pic into limg /* this causes a crash!!!*/
from test_pic where code=:test_pic.code;
end;

Still nothing?

How do I connect from forms 6i and SQL Plus to Oracle XE?

I have successfully installed Oracle database XE on my work labtop. This machine has already oracle forms,reports,sqlplus installed locally. I have tnsnames.ora file in orant/net80/admin directory. I have created an entry in this tnsnames.ora file copied from the tnsnames.ora file created during the installation of XE in the directory where xe is installed.
I can connect to XE from dos promt by typing sqlplus system/password@xe. But if I go to sqlplus 8.0 (Windows) and try to connect , I get a tnsnames error. Same as when connecting from forms.
Someone please advice. Also If i create an application using Oracle Database Xe
and Oracle forms 6i , Is there any way that I can embedd the database in the forms to distribute as a package.?

4) Can you still connect using Forms to your other databases? Is everything else still working, just the connect to XE doesn't work?
5) please post your PATH variable:

6) please post the XE entry from your tnsnames.ora
7) please post the result of your "normal" tnsping:
tnsping xe

package.?Sure, XE is meant to be embedded by other solutions. I guess Oracle will have detailed documentation on how to create a package, preinstall the necessary schemas and objects and distribute it together with your forms and reports.

i have one user defined form and 4 matrix and 4 child tables
for each matrix i have given 1 form and i have to transfer the data from temp form to main form matrix having large data in matrix on temp form to main form matrix
to load data on matrix i have used for loop that i want to avoid so how i can bind large data to matrix without for loop

How to place values from Forms into email?

Andreas sugested the following statement to navigate from forms to emal:

It works just fine placing [email protected] to to:, [email protected] to cc, [email protected] to bcc, mysubject to subject ,and
mybody to the text area.
Question:
How to rearrange the string if I need to place values from the fileds in the form:
:control.to (can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to to: in the email;
:control.cc ((can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to cc in the email;
:control.bcc ((can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to bcc in the email;
:control.subject:='xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' value in the filed should go to subject in the email;
:control.text:='vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv' value in the filed should go to the text area in the email;

The 'rep_lab02' is the name of the report that you give in the node reports
p_fec_uno and p_fec_dos they are the parameters in the report

As I don't know their content I don't know the links posted, the advices given and what you did, and as this is a new thread I'll go ahead and ask what you tried, where you failed and what exactly did not work out for you.

I suggest you not to use the "E:\" directory letter, but the REPORTS_PATH instead.

from the Online Help


On Windows, edit environment variables through the Registry Editor (Start > Run > Regedit).


On UNIX, edit environment variables by revising and running the shell script that defines the initial default values (reports.sh). If you do this, be sure to keep a backup of the original, unaltered reports.sh file.

Parameter list. E.g. You want to display all employees of Dept
10.
1. Create report with one user paramter say p_dept
2. Now Using Parameter list and Run Product you can call report,

I want to send a mail from forms + PL/sql.
I do not want to create a new C program and to make it as USER_EXIT.
The called function suppose to send it through the default email method as per the NT or UNIX setup.

I'm sure there are many ways to send emails from Forms. Personally I never had to do this, but I can imagine following ways.
a) use UTL_SMTP-Package to send the email via your database
b) use a Java-Call
