How to mark first record by default in oo ALV

I am using OO ALV to display ALV Grid in Custom Container. How to mark the frst record by default in ALV Grid.!

Hi.,
Using set_selected_rows() method you can achieve this.,
First Call ALV using o_grid->set_table_for_first_display
Then call o_grid->set_selected_rows " here o_grid is reference to cl_gui_alv_grid
You have to pass parameter index 1 to it_row_no.
Also you can pass the row numbers which you want to select by default .,

Dear Members,
I am using OAF R12 and my requirement is as follows:-
When the user opens the custom OAF R12 page, I just want to query the first record from the underlying VO.
For example, If the table has 10 rows, I just want to query the first row as soon as the page opens.
I have written the below code:-

Marking one record as default.

Hi,
I have a requirement to mark one particular record in a table as default. So I want to know, which is the best implementation option.
Option1: Add a new column to the existing table(T1) and mark the record with a boolean "True", which will represent the record as default. And other records can be marked as "False".
Option2: Add a new table(T2) which has a relation with the parent table(T1). And T2 will hold only the default record's PK. At any point of time, T2 will have a single record.
So my question is, out of these above options which is better?

How to skip first record while inserting data from a flat file to BW system

Actually I have converted an excel to CSV format, which is generating first 4 rows as some dummy records. 5th row is my header record. But in hearder record, two column names are same. Thats why while reversing it is giving an error.
With zero in number of columns in header, I am getting the column names as C1, C2...
If not in reversing, can we reject the first records while loading into RDMBS table using an interface?

How to show all records by default on search result page?

I am trying to make a search page that would execute the search in the database based on one or more field constraints.
(Using MySQL,PHP)
I have 2 columns in the database "vm_ip" (primary key) <IP address>, "Operating_System" <Any, Windows, Solaris, AIX>
need to search vm_ip based on other two fields.
PROBLEM: Need to show all the record when I select "Any" in the Operating_System drop down menu.

What can I do to show all records?

Thanks for the prompt reply but this does not solve my problem.
First thing I appologise for giving you incorrect info. Actually I have many more constraints on the search apart from OS.
Didn't think I would get single constraint specific ans.
Here is what all i tried and problems I faced:
1. I cannot use seperate queries cause I have around 7-8 other constraints on the search.
2. I cannot play around with the Record set code. For some reason even if I mess with it a little bit Dreamweaver stops recognising the recordset. for eg i tried the below code:

this ran well for the first time, and then the record set was screwed up. kept on asking me to "Discover" the links, which it couldn't do.

here on passing NULL value for "Any" GetSQLValueString($varOS_virtual, "int") functions returns NULL and though the Default value of
varOS is set to 'Operating_System" query takes NULL value only which when executed shows no records.
My problem majorly revolves around how to put something like "WHERE Operating_System= Operating_System" OR "WHERE Operating_System= TRUE" in the query, when passed through variable they are sent as Strings or NULL.
Thats why WHERE 1=1 also doesnt work, because it has "WHERE Operating_System= NULL" in AND.
Logically when NULL is passed default value of variable should comeinto picture, but tha isnt happening.

How to get First record in a table

I have created a table, at a time 20 records are displayed in the table.
When the 21-40 records are displayed in the table, and the page is refreshed.. then first 20 records are displayed.
How can I display the current records i.e., 21-40 records when I refresh the page?

Are you talking about the page refresh through OAF code or the refresh button?
The logic you need to follow is to make sure that you maintain the state of the VO which will maintain the pointer to rows.

hi,
After fetching the data into the intenal table.
loop that internal table.
declara a variable of type character and length 1.
see the example code below
DATA : wa_space ,
         tbx TYPE sy-tabix.
wa_space = ' '. "---> press ALT+255 to get space
LOOP AT it INTO wa.
    tbx = sy-tabix.
    CONCATENATE wa_space wa-<fname> INTO wa-<fname>.
    MODIFY it INDEX tbx FROM wa TRANSPORTING fname.
ENDLOOP.

i have a block with some items SL,STAFF, NAME..., of multiple record.
while entering data, i want to check whether this record is first record....
if it is firs record i have to know the SL of last entry from DB and based on that generate next SL.

The issue is caused by the order in which the parameters appear in the report data tab can be difference between our report execution and it failing. In other words, “Parameter2” is execution before parameter “A” due to this issue. We can adjust the parameter’s
order to solve the issue.
If “Parameter2” is parameter “A”, we cannot use that expression. Because fields cannot be used in report parameter expression, if we want to display the first value returned from a query as default value, we have to fill the “Specify values” text box with
the specific value in Default Values dialog box.
