How to Migrate form oracle 8.05 to Oracle 9i

Dear All,
I want to migrate from oracle 8.05 to oracle 9i, for this i exported d/b in oracle 8.05 and then try to import it in oracle 9i.
I have got the following error:
Export file created by EXPORT:V08.00.05 via conventional path
import done in WE8MSWIN1252 character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
export client uses WE8ISO8859P1 character set (possible charset conversion)
export server uses WE8ISO8859P1 NCHAR character set (possible ncharset conversion)
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 2248 encountered
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
Please solve my problem.

Creating Oracle Release 8.0 Export Files from an Oracle9i Database
You do not need to take any special steps to create an Oracle release 8.0 export file from an Oracle9i database. However, the following features are not supported when you use Export release 8.0 on an Oracle9i database:
1.Export does not export rows from tables containing objects and LOBs when you have specified a direct path load (DIRECT=y).
2.Export does not export dimensions.
3.Functional and domain indexes are not exported.
4.Secondary objects (tables, indexes, sequences, and so on, created in support of a domain index) are not exported.
5.Views, procedures, functions, packages, type bodies, and types containing references to new Oracle9i features may not compile.
6.Objects whose DDL is implemented as a stored procedure rather than SQL are not exported.
7.Triggers whose action is a CALL statement are not exported.
8.Tables containing logical ROWID columns, primary key refs, or user-defined OID columns will not be exported.
9.Temporary tables are not exported.
10.Index-organized tables (IOTs) revert to an uncompressed state.
11.Partitioned IOTs lose their partitioning information.
12.Index types and operators are not exported.
13.Bitmapped, temporary, and UNDO tablespaces are not exported.
14.Java sources, classes, and resources are not exported.
15.Varying-width CLOBs, collection enhancements, and LOB-storage clauses for 16.VARRAY columns or nested table enhancements are not exported.
17.Fine-grained access control policies are not preserved.
18.External tables are not exported.
Note :
use 8.1.7 client to export and 8.1.7 client to import

I don't have any documents, but this would be my "best guess".
1) patch from 7.3.2 to 7.3.4 (Oracle 8i upgrade I believe only
supports oracle 7.3.4 upwards)
2) Migrate from 7.3.4 to 8.1.7
3) Migrate from 8.1.7 to 9.0.X
I'm not sure what paths the 9i migration path supports, but I'd
doubt they go back to Oracle 7

How to migrate my oracle forms 9i and reports application..

we have this budgeting application developed in oracle forms 9i,reports integrated in oracle portal. Now we have to move this application from oracle 9i to oracle 10g and have to integrate it with new portal again.
Can anybody pls help me how do I migrate this application to oracle 10g AS and integrate it with portal so exact replica which was on oracle 9i portal is there on my new oracle 10g integrated within the portal.

Are you currently deployed on the web or as c/s. Generally speaking for upgrading Forms its a case of open in the builder, regenerate and run. For c/s to web there may be some extra steps to do but generally speaking most Forms will run out of the box.

Which will be the better option to migrate 10g/11i???

How to migrate forms 6i designed in windows to forms6i for linux

Hi, Guys
I'm trying to migrate a forms designed in windows to linux, but when I pass the fmb and compile with f60gen in linux the fields in the form are little and no see the information in other words the form is no same.
How do I do for look the form OK, or how to compile?

Do I need to use Oracle Migration assistant ?
Is it enough only compile forms ?

I want to know abt migration steps i.e. i 'm doing migration of Oracle Forms 4.5 to Oracle Forms 10g. Then existing forms is on Windows xx and the database is Oracle 8.
What is the better way to approach this issue? Whether, directly open the existing Forms into Oracle Forms 10g or first open the form into Forms 6i and then after 10g?
Tell me the System Specification.... Database version.... Which Application Server is suitable.... And whether the Oracle 9i database possible for Forms 10g or not.
Pls Give me solution.

Currently I am working in Oracle forms & Reports conversion project (6i to 10g).
As of now 6i forms working as a standalone application. After migrated it to 10g, I need to deploy the forms and reports in web.

for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.

Migrating forms 6i to oracle 9i

I am currently running an Oracle 8.0.5 Database about 1.2 GigaBytes in size on a Novell 5.1 server.
1) I want to migrate to a Linux Red Hat 8 Server (I know that I have to upgrade to Linus Red Hat Enterprise 3 (ES)) No questions about that.
2) I want to upgrade from a 8.0.5 Database to a 9i database. I have heard there are 3 possible ways of doing this: directly by import/export, going to 8.0.6 then 9i or going to 8i and then 9i. What do you think is best ? and why ?
3) I want to go from a Client/Server architecture with about 8 clients to a Web architecture. I have heard that I would need to purchase iAS (Internet Application Server) in order to manage multiple Forms/Reports request at the same time. What can iAS do that I cannot do with Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i ?
Also, my current Oracle Forms/Reports application uses Parameter Forms and is based on the RUN_PRODUCT builds. Going to 9i with iAS, what kind of modifications should I expect to do to my Oracle Forms/Reports to goto a Web based application ? I have heard that I might have to modify some Report Triggers ?
My Oracle Forms/Reports is developped in Oracle Forms/Reports 6i. Would I need to rewrite my application for Oracle 9i ?
