How to monitor end user response times?

Hi everyone.
I'm using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.5.0 for monitoring our development environment. We have many products but my focus is on a web application that is running on an Oracle Application Server. I need to monitor the reponse time of every HTTP request to check if this time is in the range of our SLAs.
I've seen that OHS monitoring shows the mean response time, resource consumption, etc. But I haven't found any that lets me do more detailed monitoring (at the level o HTTP request).
I'm reading right now 3 books about it but it does't mention this feature (just in case):
- Middleware Management with Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10gR5
- Oracle Enterprise Manager Administration 10.2.0.5 (from Oracle Library)
- Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Contro lInstallation And Configuration 10.2.0.5.0
¿Does anybody knows if Enterprise Manager have this feature?
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
Sorry for a long delay.
The answer was so generic and didn't help too much. But today, after several days of research I found how to monitor the user perceived performance by using "End-User Performance Monitoring". In theory this feature lets me register a Web Server and monitor its access log and also create a SLAs monitor based on it.
Right now I'm reading a lot about it just and trying of enable it to an OHS. I did it for an Oracle Web Cache.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your interest and if someone find it useful, when I get more functionality working, I'll post something here.
Best regards.

This info should come from the VC - not all the way from R3-side via FunctionModule/BABI. So only userid, date, time to output as normal text (which is not editable of course). Thanks =)

  • Oracle financials end user responsibility in implementation project

Could any body tell me the Oracle financials end user responsibility in implementation project

SO what is the variance in the responsibilities for Functional consultant and Key user in implementation or support project.
    =========================================================================================
See in implementation project, the resource who is performing the implementation needs access to all the forms i.e. setup, transaction forms etc.
Also within an implementation project, there may be resources who are not associated with set, hence they responsibility will have only transactiion forms or inquiry forms.
    =======================================================================================================
In Support project, the following may be valid users associated with the functions:
the Invoice entry folk who keys in the invoice needs access to Invoice form only.
Similarly The invoice inquiry folk who needs to inquire the invoice will need to have access to Invoice Inquiry form only.
Similarly a person who is incharge of the overall control within a support project will have access to all the forms, functions, menu etc.

  • How can I improve the response time of the user interface?

I'm after some tips on how to improve the response time to mouse clicks on a VI front panel.
I have  data acquistion application which used to run fine, but after spending a couple of weeks making a whole bunch of changes to it I find that the user interface has become a bit sluggish.
My main GUI VI has a while loop running 16 times a second, updating some waveform charts and polling about a dozen buttons on the front panel.
There is sometimes a delay (variable, but up to 2 seconds sometimes) from when I click on a button to when it becomes depressed. I have wired the iteration terminal of the while loop to an indicator on the front panel and can see that the while loop is ticking over during the delayed response to the mouse click, so I know that the problem is not that the whole program is running slow, just the response to mouse clicks.
Also, just for debugging purposes, I have indicators of the iterations of all the main while loops in my program on the front panel, so I can see that there are no loops running abnormally fast either.
One thing I've tried is to turn off multi-threading, and this does seem to work - the response to mouse clicks is much faster. However, it has the side effect of making the main GUI while loop run less evenly. I was trying to get a fairly smooth waveform scrolling across the screen, and when multi-threading is off it gets a bit jerky.
    Any other suggestion welcome..
    (I am using LabVIEW 7.1, Windows 2000).
    Regards,
    Mark.

    Hi Altenbach,
Thanks for your reply. In answer to your questions:
I am doing both DAQ board and serial data acquisition. I am using NIDAQ traditional for the DAQ board, and VISA for the serial. I have other similar versions of this program that do only DAQ board, or only serial, and these work fine. It was only when I combined them both into the same program that I ran into problems.
The multiple while loops are actually in separate VIs. I have one VI that acquires data from the DAQ card, another VI that acquires data from the serial port, another VI that processes the data and saves to file, and another VI, the GUI VI, that displays the data in graphs and charts.  The data is transferred betwen the VIs via LV2 globals.
The GUI VI is a bit more complicated than I first mentioned. It has tab control, with 4 waveform charts on one page, 4 waveform graphs on another page, and 3 waveform graphs on another page. The charts have a history length of 2560, and 16 data points are added 16 times a second. The wavefom graphs are only updated once per minute.
I don't use the value property at all, but I do use lots of property nodes for changing the properties of the graphs and charts e.g. changing plot colours, Y scale range etc. There is only one local variable (for the Tab control). All the graphs and charts have data wired directly to their terminals.
I haven't done any profiling yet.
I am building arrays in uninitialised shift registers, but this is all well under control. As the experiement goes on, more data is collected and stored, and so the memory usage does gradually increase, but only to the extent that I would expect.
The CPU usage is 100%, but I thought this was always the case when using NIDAQ  with DAQ cards. Or am I wrong about this? (As a side note, I am using NIDAQ traditional, but would NIDAQmx be better?)
Execution priority of the GUI vi (and all the other VIs for that matter) is set to normal.
The program is a bit large to post here, and I'm not sure if my company would be happy for me to publicise it anyway, so I suspect that this is turning into one of those questions that are going to be impossible to answer.
Just as a more general question, why would turning off multi-threading improve the user interface response?
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • How to disable end user personalisation for all webdynpro application.

    Dear Experts,
I have a requirement where I have to disable the end user personalization of each and every
    webdynpro application in my server.
I know how to disable the personalization of a single application or a single component, but my requirement is to disable the personalization of all applications.
    Request you to please suggest.
    Warm Regards,
    Upendra Agrawal

    Hi,
    As per SAP help,
    Customizing: User-Independent, Client-Wide Modifications
While a single user u2013 during a personalization process u2013 can manipulate his or her own settings, an administrator has the option of executing Customizing settings for all users. Technically, this procedure is not different from personalization; both take place at runtime of an application. The difference lies in the range of the settings. In addition, for these global settings an application must run in a special administration session. This is always automatically the case if an application was started in the portal in the preview session. Independently of the portal, you can start an application in the following manner from within the workbench in administration mode:
Double-click the name of the application in the object list.
In the Web Dynpro Applications menu in the upper, left-hand corner of the Workbench window, choose  Test  Execute in Admin Mode .
The configuration mode is passed to an application as the sap-config-mode=X URL parameter.
    Note
All the adjustments made by the administrator in admin mode are stored as client-specific. Presently no option is available for structuring smaller user groups on an administrative basis. Since cross-client adjustment applies to the respective configuration, the structuring of smaller groups can be implemented currently through the maintenance of different configurations.
    End of the note.
You start personalization by calling up the context menu for the respective UI element in your application. In the corresponding context menu for an administrator (that is, with URL parameter sap-config-mode=X), in addition to the standard settings administrators have the option within a UI element container to sort either single lines (Grid, Matrix aund RowLayout) or single elements (FlowLayout).
    Note
Administrators require special authorization for client-wide modifications. This can be a developer authorization or the special authorization S_WDR_P13N. You cannot create configurations at design time with this authorization, but you can make modifications at runtime.
    End of the note.
These modifications are valid for all users but take place in the current client only.
    Thanks,
    Chandra

  • How to prevent end user to create a Query View and save back to BW Server?

    2. Or can I remove Save function from Bex Analyzer to prevent end user use save function, But Developer should not to be prevent .
Thanks for all of your kindly response.

    Hi.
Yes, you can do it like you outline in your point 1):
You need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP for this. This object let's you control what parts/components of a query the user can do stuff to. So, in your case, you need to have a role for the users, where you do not grant create-access to the component QVW, and then you need another role for developers, where you grant full access or whatever you need for your developers.
See [this post|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a6c54319-0e01-0010-20a4-fb81ad32f330?QuickLink=events&overridelayout=true&5003637661135] and the [SAP Help entry|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/80/1a6859e07211d2acb80000e829fbfe/content.htm].
You will also need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP1. If you already have a productive system with users doing reporting, both objects will be maintained in one of the roles already.
You also want to consider using the object S_RS_PARAM to allow users to create variants for the variabel screen.
    Good luck.

  • How to obtain the Query Response Time of a query?

Given the Average Length of Row of tables and the number of rows in each table,
is there a way we get the query response time of a query involving
those tables. Query includes joins as well.
For example, suppose there 3 tables t1, t2, t3. I wish to obtain the
time it takes for the following query:
    Query
    SELECT t1.col1, t2.col2
    FROM t1, t2, t3
    WHERE t1.col1 = t2.col2
    AND t1.col2 IN ('a', 'c', 'd')
    AND t2.col1 = t3.col2
    AND t2.col1 = t1.col1 (+)
    ORDER BY t1.col1
    Given are:
Average Row Length of t1 = 200 bytes
Average Row Length of t2 = 100 bytes
Average Row Length of t3 = 500 bytes
    No of rows in t1 = 100
    No of rows in t2 = 1000
    No of rows in t3 = 500
What is required is the 'query response time' for the said query.

I do not know how to do it myself. But if you are running Oracle 10g, I believe that there is a new tool called: SQL Tuning Advisor which might be able to help.
Here are some links I found doing a google search, and it looks like it might meet your needs and even give you more information on how to improve your code.

  • How to enable end users to escalate requests outside of newScale - end user view of delivery plan

How do you communicate to end users in a large organization, the procedures for escalation a request that is late or urgent. The views of the delivery plan available to users don't give them muche detail about who is doing the work.
I'm curious how other people communicate the escalation procedures - per service - to the end users that submit them?  for instance, our unix admin team is pretty swamped and not meeting their OLAs reliably.  They want to provide a way for the Appdev/IT users to know how to escalate requests that are late and urgent/important.
When a user submits a unix admin service on a req, if the user knows where to look in myservices, they can see the delivery plan, but enough detail to know who is doing the work. (we submitted an enhancement request a while ago to provide an options for a "full disclosure" view of the delivery plan).   Even if they have enough access to service manager to find the req number and see the service manager view of the delivery plan, they still only see the service team/queue name, which might not be enough info for them to make a call or send an email.
We are discussing a few options and was curious what others are doing:
    1.  Update the Service description to include a contact distribution list for the fulfillment team (for requests with simple plans) or the service owner team for complex delivery plans.
    2.  Create a custom email template to be sent at start of delivery plan.  Ccurrently we have a generic email that covers most requests, but are thinking of creating emails that provides service-specific escalation information.
    3.  Create an intranet page with escalation information by service, and perhaps including this as a link off the myservice home page or the service description.
The scope of this question is more around infrastructure requests that are fulfilled by centralized groups, not how end users escalate phone or computer requests.  Our service-desk generally not involved in support of infrastructure requests, although they woudl probably be the escalation point for end-user requests

  • How to set End User Permission to an iView?

    Hi experts,
can someone tell me how I can set End User Permission to enabled to an iView?

    Hi there,
From what I have read you want a user to access an iView without an account. To do this you need to configure the J2EE engine for an anonymous user access and set the iView property for authentication to anonymous.
Because the user has no account you have to assign any roles you want to use for permissions to the anonymous user account configured for anonymous access.
There is documentation on help.sap.com on how to configure anonymous access.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to monitor a user

Hello every-one, I have been told to monitor a particular database user? Can you please tell me in details how to put that user under monitoring without letting him know? thanks heaps

    Hi,
If you want to set tracing on for a particular session, you can use dbms_session.set_trace_in_session package after get get SID and SERIAL# from v$session view for that user that is connected ... Otherwise, if you want to audit the database objects activity for a specific user, then you can take a look at documentation about AUDIT command or take a look at these links below:

    hi all
i am running the 9ias on Solaris and Generating some reports
Which fetches around 50,000 records and Display them in pdf format.
When i am ruuning the Query at Database level Response time is Very fast.
But when i Run the Report in Web Browser same report takes 7-8 minutes.
So it seems that the Conversion to pdf and Displaying it takes most of time.
Does any one has idea What parameter's needs to be changed/Caching ??? /
or any other ways or methods which can be used to Reduce the Response time.
(its once a monthly Report and User need to Download all the 500 pages as
    a Single Document).
    Any help / suggestion please
    thanks
    jai

You aren't by any chance calling a function in your repeating frame that in turn goes back and queries the database, are you? If so ... don't. We regularly do 500+ page PDF-file reports, and one thing we discovered early on was that repeatedly going back to the database while generating the report output (in our case, in calculations that were being done on each line of a report) slowed the output down by an order of magnitude. Instead, we now retrieve all the data needed for each report up front (via functions or views called in the initial SQL for the report), and just use Reports to format the output. MUUUUUUUCH faster -- 200 page reports that used to take 15 minutes to complete now complete in just seconds.
One way you can visually see if this is part of your problem is to watch the report execute in the Report Queue Manager application. If it spends all its time on the "Opening" stage then breezes through each page, this is not your problem. If instead it seems to take a long time generating each page, I'd suspect that this may be at least part of your delay.

  • How can my end user password-protect a document that has been digitally signed?

    Hello,
I have seen some threads that indirectly address parts of this question, but am still left unsure about whether this process can be done - and if it can, I could use your help in understanding it - thank you.
Two of our end users use digital signatures (certificate-based) in Acrobat 9 Pro to sign documents attesting the accuracy & calibration status of lab equipment for use in a legal environment.  These end users are concerned that their documents could be altered or edited, and asked me if password protection can also be applied to their documents that need to be digitally signed.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

If permissions do not allow you to sign, you cannot sign.
Be aware of the alert that Acrobat pops up when you apply "Permissions" password that all Adobe products respect permissions that you set but that 3rd-party PDF Viewers may not (and many do not).
That is exactly what I was missing! I apply only "Permissions" password, but had the "Changes Allowed" drop-down set incorrectly - it was set to "None."  After changing that setting to allow "Filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields," the end user was able to digitally sign the document, her desired goal.
    Thank you so much.
