How to set End User Permission to an iView?

Hi experts,
can someone tell me how I can set End User Permission to enabled to an iView?

Hi there,
From what I have read you want a user to access an iView without an account. To do this you need to configure the J2EE engine for an anonymous user access and set the iView property for authentication to anonymous.
Because the user has no account you have to assign any roles you want to use for permissions to the anonymous user account configured for anonymous access.
There is documentation on help.sap.com on how to configure anonymous access.
Hope this helps.

You should just be able to navigate to User Administration tab in either portal to see the user. You can assign permissions via the PCD explorer. Locate the PCD object you wish to assign permissions to and right click and choose open --> permissions.

  • How can i set end user

    HI,
I'm very new for this BI and dba.. I need one solution regarding view ... That's after development i want to give the reports to the end user.. So how to create end user.. For example if i want give reports to HR department then how can i give that to HR.. That is how can i set this end user.. Is there any web services related issues are there else any ideas behind that .. How to create this end user...

    Hi
If you are using Discoverer in conjunction with E-Business Suite and your company has told Discoverer to operate in what is called Apps mode then the user accounts are picked up from E-Business Suite. So in this scenario you would need to get your EBS system administrator to create the account, assign a password and then assign one or more responsibilities that have been granted permissions in Discoverer.
In all other cases, when you are not running in Apps mode, then the user account will be a database account. As such, you would get your DBA to create the account and assign one or more roles that have been granted permissions in Discoverer.
    SUMMARY:
When running in Apps mode, the user accounts are managed by the EBS system administrator and Discoverer understands and can work with Apps responsibilities.
When running in non-Apps mode, the user accounts are managed by the DBA and Discoverer understands and can work with database roles.
    Hope this helps

  • End user permission ignored

    Hello,
I have a problem with an end user permission that seems to get ignored: I wanted to demonstrate the usage of the end user permission and assigned a role to a User (for simplicity's sake as an entry point, no worksets, pages etc. involved) and enabled end user permission on the role for that particular user.
Now when that user logs in he gets to see the according entry in the navigation bar as expected. However if I disable the end user permission, log out and again log in the user, he stills sees the link. The end user permission setting is simply ignored. Can someone shed light onto this, could there be something wrong with the installation)?
I don't think this is an issue of permission inheritance (the role permissions are set explicitly anyway) or overlapping permissions due to membership in several groups - the user is only member of the single standard  group 'authenticated users'.
    Regards,
    Sebastian
P.S. What's the use of a role assignment to a user without end user permission anyway (I mean why the option)? What happens if you don't add permissions on a Role for a certain user at all (I tried it, but the effect is the same as described above - end user permission seem to be irrelevant)?

    Hi Robert,
thanks for your answer and for the link (and I thought I had read everything). I am not so sure however if I really understand the term 'runtime environment' for a user. I thought runtime vs. design-time meant the difference between the content a user sees when he is actually using the portal and the content an administrator has access to in the portal content catalog, i.e. a meta-environment accessible only through certain tools like the permission editor or similar.
I don't understand what you want to express with "<i>It's used to restrict ... end user runtime environment</i>" and why the "Page Personalization" is an example.
I realize that for roles the availability for a user is solely defined by the assignment of that role to the user - end user permissions have no effect on this. Confusing, because I tought this availability (i.e. showing links in the toplevel or detailed navigation) was what was meant by 'runtime environment' but I seem to be wrong here.
The docu says "<i>for roles the end user permission setting does enable you to define which users/groups/roles are able to preview the role content using the portal design-time tools</i>". Again, I am confused, I thought this was exactly the meaning of design-time environment.
Great if you or someone else could comment on this..

  • Administrator and End user Permission

    Hello Everybody,
How <b>Administrator permission</b> is different from <b>End user permission</b>, i cannot see any major changes if i assign or revoke those.
    2. If i have assigned <b>role assigner permission</b> to a user who does not User administrator or any other administrator rights, how he is able to assign role to other user.
I have read on help.sap.com, but unable to understand.
    regards
    Santosh

    Hi Santhosh,
    1. The Name itself tells us the Difference .
        "Administrator" ->
There r 3 types of Admn here
        a) "Content Admn" ( he is the one Who can create Iview / Role ..)
        b) "User Admn" ( he is the one who can Create Users and Assign Roles to the Users)
        c) "System Admn" ( he can change the System Properties ..Like Layout ,sys alias etc )
and End User is the one who doesn't have any of the Admn Roles . A default user may contain Only EU_ROLE
    2.
If u r a developer u must have Content Admn
and for the basis guys must have User Admn and Sys   admn.
    Hope it helps .

  • Regarding end user permission

    Hi Gurus,
I have three iviews (v1,v2,v3)assigned to a role(RoleAll) which will be assigned to user. The requirement is: certain user can only see certain iviews.
    my notion is:
another three roles(role1, role2, role3) created, and set the iviews' end user permission enabed to respective role(v1--->role1, v2>role2, v3--->role3), what I expected is : the user with role RoleAll and role1 will see v1.
user with role RoleAll, role1 and rol2 will see v1 and v2.
when I implement  like this, the behavior is not as expected.
    Can anyone body guide me?

    Hello,
    Assign iView 1 to Role1, iView2 to Role2 & iView3 to Role3.
Assign RoleAll to those users who should see atleast one of these iViews.
Then Assign Role1 to the users who should see iView1. Similarly assign
Role2 and Role3 to respective users.
Now use Role Merging concept. Give same merge IDs to all the roles. For
the user having  two of these roles (for e.g, RoleAll + Role1), will see
only one merged role...and one iView.

I'm pretty sure higher access superceedes, so you could set up a group with no actual access, just to get the preferences working, then their individual security will dictate what they can do. I haven't tested this fully, but I beleive this is how it will work.<BR>As far as setting the preferences, go into the admin console and right click on the group, then select Preferences. To apply the group preferences to a user, add the user to the group, then right click on the user, select preferences and from the upper left corner, use the drop down to select the active preference, in this case, it will be the group you created and added them to.<BR><BR>HTH

Hi. A JDBC connection pool is a set of identical, interchangeable, pre-made
connections, and the controls to make sure only one user uses a particular
connection at any one time. If you want to have different DBMS users, you can
have a separate pool for each DBMS user, which may contain as many or few
connections as you want. Some applications has a pool for the accounting
applications, and another for the sales applications etc. Some do have a
separate pool for john, jane, joe etc, each with one connection. Pools
can be created and destroyed dynamically using the dynamic pool API.

I would like to know how to give an user permission to access centain Transformations in one InfoArea only. I already limited the selection in one InfoArea now. I want users can only Display Transformations for all the InfoObjects under this InfoArea. Does anyone know the detail steps? Thanks!

    HI,
are you working under Analysis Auth (BI7) or Reporting Auth (BW 3.X)?
If you work with the new concept you can restrict your authorization by using theinfoobjet: 0TCAIFAREA.
before you Add 0TCAIFAREA as an external hierarchy characteristic to 0INFOPROV also when you restrict your auth by infoprovider you can choose the infoarea hierarchy
    hope it help

  • How to set the user's Default joboptions directory?

    Hello Experts,
When we installed Acrobat Pro 8.x on our Win XP Pro systems our systems were NOT in a Windows Domain.  At that time the default location for user-created/customized joboptions files was:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
where <Username> is the name of the LOCAL Windows user.
A few years ago we migrated to a Windows Domain and converted our LOCAL users to domain users and disabled, but did not delete, the LOCAL user's account.  We did not remove the LOCAL user's Documents and Settings directory structure either.
Our users now log into a DOMAIN rather than the LOCAL account.
    As a result of that process the user's Documents and Settings directory structure changed to;
      C:\Documents and Settings\<Username.DOMAINNAME>
where DOMAINNAME is, of course, our Windows Domain Name.
    Now we are beginning to use Acrobat Distiller joboptions and I notice that when Acrobat/Distiller goes to save a user-created/customized joboptions file the default location has remained;
      C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
which is NOT the user who is logged in
    Acrobat/Distiller should use the Documents and Settings directory of the user who is actually logged in which is;
      C:\Documents and Settings\<Username.DOMAINNAME>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
This anomaly has created some confusion and appears to have created a dependency of the old LOCAL user's Documents and Settings directory preventing us from deleting it.
    Question:
How can we force Acrobat/Distiller to use the Documents and Settings directory of the logged in user (eg: the Domain user)?
In other words, how do we set the user's default joboptions directory?
    Pointers/tips/and tricks are most welcome.

    if the user is the one running the program, you can always get the home directory using System.getProperties ("user.home");
If you are trying to get the properties of another user, you could try using setProperties to change the user name first, before getiting the home directory, but it probably won't work because of the security manager. You could read the /etc/passwd file and parse the path out, but once again, the user of the code would have to have appropriate permission.

  • How to set a user status (complete) when ever system status is set complete

    Experts,
We have configured status profile and few user status (say open, pre-release, complete) and assigned the status profile to the item category(zxxx).
The problem we have is if we have a service order that is created with the item (item category zxxx) -- Say the header status is open and the item status is pre-release. Now end user comes and sets the header status to completed - then the item status is still set pre-release. It is not changing to complete as expected.
Yes,  the Item system status is set to completed but not the user status. How do I configure to set a complete user status when the header and item system status are set to completed.
    Thank you
Edited by: ram on May 4, 2010 8:51 PM

I am not sure if this can be "reverse engineered" in Status profile.
But here is some hint. You can use the BAdI CRM_ORDER_STATUS mehtod AFTER_CHANGE and actually break when the Header status is changed, and set the item status as desired.

  • How to prevent end user to create a Query View and save back to BW Server?

    Dear All :
Do Someone know that how to setup authorization for Bex Query View Creation? We want to prevent end user to create a Query View to save back to BW Server his favorite folder. when our user run Bex Query, he can base on this query and use Bex Analyzer's save function to save a Query View and save into his favorite folder.
    My question is :
    1. Can we set up a Authorization to prevent end user to save Bex Query View?
    2. Or can I remove Save function from Bex Analyzer to prevent end user use save function, But Developer should not to be prevent .
Thanks for all of your kindly response.
    Best Regard
    Lawrence Kuo

    Hi.
Yes, you can do it like you outline in your point 1):
You need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP for this. This object let's you control what parts/components of a query the user can do stuff to. So, in your case, you need to have a role for the users, where you do not grant create-access to the component QVW, and then you need another role for developers, where you grant full access or whatever you need for your developers.
See [this post|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a6c54319-0e01-0010-20a4-fb81ad32f330?QuickLink=events&overridelayout=true&5003637661135] and the [SAP Help entry|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/80/1a6859e07211d2acb80000e829fbfe/content.htm].
You will also need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP1. If you already have a productive system with users doing reporting, both objects will be maintained in one of the roles already.
You also want to consider using the object S_RS_PARAM to allow users to create variants for the variabel screen.
    Good luck.

  • How to set up user account and share folders

We are a family of four sharing our first iMac. I would like to set up one account for my wife and I and one account for my kids on which I plan to enable Parental Controls.
I have struggled with setting up my kids user account. After setting up a Standard account for the kids - I noticed none of our music or files were visible in the kids accounts. I spent 20 min on the phone with Apple and the tech was clueless. He had me copying my music folder all over the computer until I had about 6 copies of the same folder. I did figure out how to move the music library to SHARED folder and redirect iTunes source folder to the same shared folder.
My problem now - when I copy my documents to the SHARED folder my kids can see the files and open them, but they can not save them. How do I give the kids account read write privileges?
Should I set up a GROUP account instead?
I need the best way to have two or three users who can access all data on the same iMac, while giving me the ability to enable Parental Controls on the accounts.

    Do this:
Here's how to set it up by using ACLs:
    1. Create a new folder in /Users/Shared. Call it "Sharefolder".
    2. Log in to an Admin account, open Terminal and paste in all of this at the same time:
    chmod -R +a "everyone allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,\
    addsubdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directoryinherit" \
    /Users/Shared/Sharefolder
That will automatically make everything copied or created to the sharefolder writable by all users. Note: After setting this up, if you have existing files that you want to move to the sharefolder, hold down the option key when dragging them in. That will make new copies of them in the sharefolder. Dragging existing files in (i.e. simply moving them there) won't cause the ACL to inherit properly and they won't be writable by all users. Files that are copied or +newly created+ in the sharefolder shouldn't have this problem.
Make sure you keep good backups. One user accidentally deleting a shared file will affect everybody else who uses it.

    Hello,
I investigated the issue further. To work around this problem you should add write permissions to the C:\Program Files\National Instruments folder. Be sure that all subfolders and files are awarded write permission. This should solve your problems. eventually you could break it up to one file which must be set to write permission but by setting the whole folder to write permission you solve this problem for many other drivers to so you would not run into this everytime you use different hardware.
