How to monitor heap size used in OPP in order to protect Out of Memory

My objective is to know how much heap size currently use so I can handle or do something before user got error report.
The following sql statement just determine what the heap size per OPP process is currently setting:
select DEVELOPER_PARAMETERS from FND_CP_SERVICES
where SERVICE_ID = (select MANAGER_TYPE from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES
where CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME = 'FNDCPOPP');
Now OPP heap size is set to 1.5G.
Thanks

  • How to increase a bean's heap size using -XMS

    Excuse my ignorance. We developed a bean that opens a hi resolution (3,000 pixels by 3,000 pixels) JPEG from the hard drive and through JAI:
    1. Zooms in
    2. Crops
    3. Streams the result to the browser
    It works perfectly with small files but when we use the large JPEGs it gives an Out of Memory Exception
    I have read extensively about how easy it should be to do the -XMS in the command line to increase the sandbox size to 256 MB or whatever.
    But apparently the command requires the name of an application among its parameters. If we try to run it without such parameter it returns the online help.
    Does anyone know what to enter in this parameter? Would it be our bean's name? Or certain class within JAI? How can we know which class is the one that runs out of memory?
    Please help!!
    :o)

    I'll try that first thing tomorrow when I'm in my
    workstation. Although I think we tried that. I'll let
    you know of the outcome though.
    My next question (in case what you say does not solve
    our problem) will very very likely be utterly stupid.
    I'll make it anyways.
    Our bean resizes and crops the image through calls to
    JAI. To follow your example, let's assume the bean is
    called FooClass. Is it a fact the memory increase
    should be applied to FooClass or can it be another JAR
    or class outside of ours the one that is actually
    running out of memory?
    In our first rounds we didn't even have the code
    inside a class but rather just a JSP. Since it was
    running out of memory and we didn't know how to assign
    memory to a JSP we decided to port it to a bean and
    attempt to XMX the bean. Is there a way to solve out
    of memory errors triggered by a JSP alone and not a
    class?The -Xmx and -Xms switches applies to the whole JVM where the class is running. They can not be applied to a special class. Use the java -Xms etc for starting the application server/servlet container where your jsp runs and it will increase the amount of memory available.

    Khaled,

    Try writing a personalization on the PO screen that adds the following condition to the where clause
    "and authorization_status !='APPROVED'
    However, I will be careful with a blanket restriction like this. There are situations when you need to modify an existing PO. So you should code some exceptions for this rule.

    Hi Swamy
    Start the NWA tool (NetWeaver Administrator) that can be reached from the main page of your J2EE.
    Log on with a administrator user and select the "Monitoring" link.
    Then you select the "Java System Reports" link.

  • How to increase heap size in Java in detail?

    I am writing an java app in eclipse that do need a lot of memory.
    The default
    java -Xms32m -Xmx128mis not enough.
    I want to change it to
    java -Xms128m -Xmx512mI opened the command line in windows xp and changed the current directory to the installing place of jre and jdk.
    But under either directory after I ran the above command, it returns help information like
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05\bin>java -Xms128m -Xmx512m
    Usage: java [-options] class [args...]
               (to execute a class)
       or  java [-options] -jar jarfile [args...]
               (to execute a jar file)
    where options include:
        -client       to select the "client" VM
        -server       to select the "server" VM
        .......Have I changed the heap size successfully?
    How can I verify it? I am using eclipse 3.2 running the application.
    Please offer me some help. Many thanks!
    Edited by: aaron9979215 on Jul 6, 2008 8:56 PM

    It is showing you the help message, because you forgot to specify a class. When you call the "java" command, you have to say a class name after the -Xms and -Xmx commands.
    So, do this:
    java -Xms128m -Xmx512m classNameWhere className is the main class of your app.
    Best of luck.

  • How to increase heap size in OC4J .

    Hi Friends ,
    I am getting out of memory exception,so i need to increase the heap size , so kindly provide me the information where and how could I increase the heap size in OC4J ?.
    Yrs
    Jeyaprakash

    you should be able to pass the java heap options when starting the container:
    -Xmx1024M
    So if you are starting the 10.1.3 container from a Windoz command file you could use:
    setlocal
    @echo off
    set ORACLE_HOME=C:/Programs/oc4j-10.1.3
    set JAVA_HOME=C:/Progra~1/Java/jdk1.5.0_07
    set J2EE_HOME=%ORACLE_HOME%/j2ee/home
    %JAVA_HOME%/bin/java.exe -Xmx1024M -jar %J2EE_HOME%oc4j.jar

  • JGrasp -- how to increase heap size?

    Hello, can anybody tell me how to increase the max heap size in jGrasp?
    Thank you.

    Thanks.. I tried that, but I'm not sure that it
    increased the heap size. I tried using that method
    to set it to 512MB (-J-Xmx512m), and when I open up
    System Properties within jGrasp, it says:
    Free Heap: 7,805,040
    Total Heap: 19,812,352
    Max Memory: 532,742,144That is what you would expect with a 512MB max heap.
    And then I put the following lines of code in my
    program:
         long max = Runtime.getRuntime().maxMemory();
    System.out.println("Runtime.maxMemory():
    ): "+max/1024/1024+" MB");
    And the output that I got was: "Runtime.maxMemory():
    63 MB"You have set the max heap for jGRASP itself, which you
    might need if you are editing some huge files or
    something and jGRASP is running out of heap. Max
    heap for user programs is a different issue. To change
    that, on the compiler settings for the current workspace
    or project, in the "Flags/Args/Main" tab, add Java flags
    like "-Xmx512m" to "Flags2 or Args2" for the "Run" and
    "Debug" rows.

  • How to change heap size in control panel

    i've already searches previous post about this problem but still i couldnt get it to work or maybe i'm doing it wrong. i did it a lot of times but still i couldnt get it. can anybody show me how exactly to change the java heap sizes.
    and is it possible to display the current java heap size of my jvm?
    tnx in advance
    nashstanley

    You can change the heap by using an option to to the java command, when Java starts up. If you're starting an applet or a Web Start app(applies only to applets or Web Start) then use the Java Control Panel's Java tab to set a value.
    The syntax (in all cases) is defined in the documetation for the java command.
    There are a number of ways to see the heap size, none of which is "standard" Java, and they vary depending on the specifics of which Java you're running and what you're doing. See:

  • How to monitor an application using JMX

    Hi,
    How can I monitor the portal application running on  portal server by using MBeans (JMX)? For this I need to make a connection between my portal application and  MBean class, How to monitor operations? How can I do that? If anybody has come across the same requirement pls explain me with the implementation details.

    Hello,
    I have done that in a project (not Portal, but pure Java Application, should be no difference), working fine.
    The steps are as follows:
    - create MBean Server (e.g. MBeanServerFactory.createMBeanServer("test");)
    - create your MBeans
    - make them accessible to clients (register the MBeans in the server)
    - query them from clients
    see http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2SE/jmx.html
    for very good explanation including sample source code.

  • How many monitors can you use on a new imac with GEForce 780m?

    My husband bought a new 27" iMac with the optional GEForce 780m with 4 gig of video ram. He wants to know how many monitors he can run simultaneously, and at what resolutions. He would obviously be using the Thunderbolt ports to do this. I thought this information should be easily found in the technical specs for either the iMac or the video card itself on the NVidia site, but it is not.

    Catherine Gramze wrote:
    Ok, rkaufman. Can he use two 4k monitors in addition to his iMac display? He wants to know what his options are in terms of number of monitors and the resolution. Yes, I know which monitor you buy will be the limiting factor for the actual display, but he has not yet purchased these additional monitors. If thunderbolt allows him to run 3840x2160, how many of them can he run at once at 32 bpp? How many if he chooses 2560x1600 instead?
    To be honest I don't know how many Thunderbolt displays he can run, I would STRONGLY recommend contacting Apple to ask. You can ask the online store (phone number is in upper right of it's home page) or if you have an Apple Store in your area, making an appointment with a business specialist and asking that question.

  • Problem increasing heap size using Java Control Panel

    I am running a web-based bioinformatics package which uses a Java applet as the client application. It mostly works fine, but some large clustering processes don't complete, they just cycle endlessly. The user manual advises increasing heap space "by entering the following command in the Java Control Panel or Java Plug-in dialog: -Xms128M -Xmx256M." I can open the Java Control Panel OK and enter the necessary command in the Java Runtime Parameters box, but after clicking OK then Apply, the Runtime Parameters box is empty again and there is no increase in the heap size allocation. In other words, the change doesn't take effect.
    I have already tried: adjusting one parameter at a time (max heap size first, then min); changing uppercase to lowercase M (-Xmx256m); restarting the browser after the change; rebooting my PC - none of these has helped.
    Technical details: it's Java 6 standard edition, build 1.6.0_10-rc-b28; browser is Internet Explorer 7; operating system is Vista (Service Pack 1); PC is a 2.4 GHz processor with 2 GB RAM (so I have plenty available to allocate to Java). I have local admin privilege on my PC.
    Help would be much appreciated, as I really need to complete these cluster analyses. I'm a biologist not a developer, so ideally I need a solution that doesn't involve major programming, though I'm OK with registry edits and use of the command line. Thanks in advance.

    The failure to retain the parameters is a bug, per hdong in this [Java,net thread|http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=44540&tstart=0] dated August 14
    "I did a little more research and found out that the problem is only with "-rc" or "-beta" versions of plugin. When 1.6.0_10 is finally released, the version string will be "1.6.0_10". Plugin works fine to set/get jvm parameters when version string is "1.6.0_10".
    I am surprised that this issue was not discovered earlier. It was probably because the internal test binary use "1.6.0_10" as version string.
    Yeah, it is a bug that will affect many manny developers. It will be fixed as soon as possible."

  • How increase external disk size used for an existing file system, Solaris10

    Configuration:
    Server: Sun T5220
    S/O: Solaris 10 5/08 s10s_u5wos_10 SPARC
    Storage: EMC AX4-5
    EMC PowerPath: PowerPath Version 5.2
    I have the following scenario:
    In AX4-5 storage array, I created two LUNs into RAID Group 10, with Raid Type1/0:
    LUN 101: 20Gb
    LUN 102: 10Gb
    Both LUNs were added to Storage Group (SG1) that includes two Servers (Server1 and Server2); both servers have Operating System Solaris 10 5/8 and Power Path.
    The servers detect both LUNs across two paths. With Power Path were created a virtual path (emcpower0a, emcpower1a) to access to each LUNs respectively.
    We have mounted two file system /home/tes1 over emcpower0a -> LUN101 and /home/tes2 over emcpower1a -> LUN102.
    Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/emcpower0a 20G 919M 19G 5% /home/test1
    /dev/dsk/emcpower1a 10G 9G 1G 90% /home/test2
    I want to increase the space in file system /home/test2, without lost the information that I have stored and using the same LUN, LUN 102. To do this I start with the following steps:
    1-     Create new LUN, LUN 103 with 15Gb into RAID Group 10. Result: OK, I have available space in RAID Group 10.
    2-     Add LUN 103 to LUN 102, using concatenation option. Result: OK. This action creates a new metaLUN with the same characteristics of LUN 102, but with new space of 25Gb.
    After to do these actions, I want to know how Solaris recognize this new space. What I need to do, to increase the size of file system /home/test2 to 25 Gb. Is that possible?
    I reviewed the description of each disk using format command, and the disks not have any change.
    Could anyone help me? If you need more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Robert, thank a lot for your know how. You helped me to clarify some doubts. To complete your answer, I will add two more details, based on my experience.
    After to execute, type -> auto configure and label, the disk was created with different partitions like root, swap, usr, like this:
    Volume name = < >
    ascii name = <DGC-RAID10-0223 cyl 49150 alt 2 hd 32 sec 12>
    pcyl = 49152
    ncyl = 49150
    acyl = 2
    nhead = 32
    nsect = 12
    Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
    0 root wm 0 - 682 128.06MB (683/0/0) 262272
    1 swap wu 683 - 1365 128.06MB (683/0/0) 262272
    2 backup wu 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    6 usr wm 1366 - 49149 8.75GB (47784/0/0) 18349056
    7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    This was not convenient because all information stored appear in the first slice and growfs not work if appear root or swap slice into the disk, for that reason was necesary to recreate manually every slice with partition command. The final result was this:
    Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
    0 unassigned wm 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    1 unassigned wu 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    2 backup wu 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    Now, execute again the label command to save the new information.
    Mount file system and execute:
    growfs –M file_system mount_point to expand the file system to 9Gb.

  • How To Increase heap size in Java Studio Creator 2

    Hi,
    I'd like to know how I can increase the heap size in Java Studio Creator 2.
    I already tried editing creator.conf, but it doesn't seem to work...
    Can anybody help me?
    thanks.

    In the servers window of creator, right-click 'Deployment Server' and choose 'View Admin Console'. A new web page comes up with the web interface to the Sun Application Server 8. Type your username and password that you configured during installation. I think default username is admin and default password either admin or adminadmin. After you're in, click 'Application Server' link in the left window, then click 'JVM Settings' tab, then click 'JVM Options' tab. Add new JVM option -Xms512m to start the server with 512MB. Find the -Xmx option and edit it to something larger, provided you have enough memory on your system.
