How to move between new display and Macbook

If I follow Apple's instructions to turn on my MacBook, plug in the new LED display, then close the lid on the MacBook it goes to sleep in about 20 seconds....as it should, and then I can use the display. But if I unplug the MacBook and use it in another room, then bring it back and plug it in again, when I close the lid it won't sleep, so the new display never comes on.
I'm guessing the only way to move from using the display in the closed-lid mode to using MacBook on battery is to do a full shut down, then unplug everything, and then restart the MacBook. This seems like a lot of extra effort if all I want to do is take the MacBook out of office and work on the sofa for awhile. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks for any help.

follow carefully I've put a diagram in as well as its messy here.
1. mouse click the word exposure
2. use the + and - keys, and the exposure value will change correspondingly and on my mac, a pop up gets in the way of the photo and says exposure up/down 0.1 etc
3. use the left and right arrow and the exposure changes but the (annoying) pop up does not
4. use the , and . keys to move the focus to contrast
5. use the + and - keys, and the contrast value will change correspondingly and on my mac, the pop up appears and says contrast up/down 0.1 etc
HOWEVER
6. use the left and right arrows and the exposure (rather than the contrast) changes accordingly.

Is this a bug, that the , and . moves focus if you use the + & = - keys, but does not move the focus for the left and right arrow controls

Sound Switches Between Thunderbolt Display and MacBook Pro

I have an Apple Thunderbolt display and MacBook Pro set-up with dual screens. I have an iPhone plugged into a dock that runs to the display. When I have music playing out of the display and I disconnect my iPhone, it switches the sound to the MacBook Pro.
1. How do I stop this from happening?
2. If I can't stop it from happening, how do I move the sound from the MacBook Pro back to the display?
There doesn't seem to be any options within Preferences/Sound to change it back.

I've a Spyder4Elite that I use on both my Thunderbolt Display and on my MBP - and, while both are calibrated, they don't - and cannot - 'match' one another, no matter how hard I try.
I suspect that you're running up against the same wall? Different technologies in different displays. I doubt that you'll ever get a perfect match: mine are just 'good enough'.

I have a big problem with the installation of a new HD in my macbook pro of 2009.
the Hd is a seagate momentus 7200 500gb and my old and broken hd is a hitachi 5400 320gb.
the problem is this:
by utility disk i can see my old HD but i can t format it, so for that problem i buy i new one HD that utility disk doesn't see and doesn't propouse to me in the begining of the installation of snow leopard.
i red something about problems of firmware of this hd (the seagate), could be that the problem? how i can fix it? can i install the new fimware without have a hd inside my macbook pro?

I used my new IPad to film some videos for about three months. Today, I connected my IPad to my Macbook in an attempt to upload the IPad videos to my Macbook ITunes. Unfortunately, the IPad synced with my computer files, and all of my videos were erased off of my IPad. I cannot locate them anywhere on my computer. How can I recover these lost videos? Please help! Option 1) Select the content desired to sync and sync.
Option 2) Drag and drop the content onto the device.

How to enable bluetooth connection between iPhone 4 and MacBook Air?

I used to be able to connect my iPhone 4 with my 3 yr old MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. I used my iPhone's personal hotspot more then once to access the Internet on my laptop when there was no wireless. I don't get why it wouldn't work with my new MacBook Air. That just seems silly. My laptop found my iPhone and was able to add the device, but then my iPhone wouldn't connect. Is there really no way around this??

1. For all practical purposes, they are the same.
2. Some differences:
a) from abap coding point of view,
alv list is done with Function modules,
alv gris can also be done with FM,
but can also be done using OO concepts.
b) Alv grid (using oo concept) requires
designing the screen layout .
Hence, in one screen, we can show more
then one alv grid
(we cannot show more than
one alv list on one screen)
c) ALV grid uses ActiveX controls
present on the Presentation Server.
Hence, it consumes More Memory
on the presentation server.
d) ALV LIST is Display Only.
Whereas
ALV Grid Can Be made EDITABLE for entry purpose.
e) In alv grid, these options are possible,
but not in alv list.

i created this multiprovider to do the maintenence on the basic cube. for example the infocube physical partition, line item dimension and compression.
what we decided to do is move all the Standard and ad-hoc reports from the basic cube to the multiprovider. How to do it? and make a copy of the basic cube and do the maintenence on the cube. please help.

Hi Les,
This sounds good and one thing we try to always keep in mind when undertaking such activities is to always minimise the impact to the user and make the process as transparent to them as possible. So lets say you have your multiprovider and copied queries up in Prod, these queries will still pick up the data from the base cube.
Now you need to make a copy of the base cube for some changes to the cube model, I would suggest that you copy the cube and make your changes on the copied cube itself. Then 9depending on the changes done) you can load data from Original Cube to New Cube. When this is being done, make sure that you change your queries to add a restriction on 0INFORPOV by Original Cube.
After the load to the new cube is complete you can run reports restricted to each cube to verify the numbers. Then change the 0INFOPROV restriction in the queries to point to the New Cube and disengage the old cube from the multiprovider.

Syncing Mail Between My iMac and Macbook

I am new to the Mac world (I am a PC convert) and I now have an iMac and a Macbook for work.
I have a couple of questions (some of which belong in this group and some elsewhere but I figured someone here could point me in the right direction):
1. My company's email does not support IMAP, only POP. What is the best way to keep my email clients sync'ed? Ideally I would like my Inbox and all of my folders to be the same on my desktop and laptop and it would be great if it was automated somehow.
2. What is the best way to handle my iPhone? Should I make my Macbook the "Sync Master" and only sync it to that?
3. What is the best way to keep my folders and iTunes sync'ed between my iMac and Macbook? Someone suggested Martian Slingshot as the best way to keep them together. Do other people concur?
Any other advice/experience that people may have on the easiest way to use a Desktop in the office and travel with a sync'ed laptop is appreciated.
As I mentioned, I am very new to the Mac world. I can't really think of any great way to sync them in the PC World either but I am grateful for your help. I know I should have gotten a Macbook Pro but my boss didn't want to get me one so I am stuck with the hardware I have.

What I've done with email in the past is set only one of the machines to delete email from the server (if your company allows you that option). But you need to make sure you check with the one that doesn't delete before the other. You may be able to delete manually as well, so don't delete anything from the server until mail has been downloaded to both (I think this can be done in Apple Mail under advanced prefs). But that won't help with tracking replies, etc. And you'll have to manage mailboxes seperately.
.Mac has a bunch of syncing options, but you may not want to go to that expense.
Sorry I don't have any advice on the other stuff, only running 1 Mac.

Sharing Files between Windows Vista and Macbook Pro

I have just bought my first Macbook Pro and I love it. I am running Windows Vista on my desktop and connect wirelessly to the internet via a Netgear router. I have managed to connect to the internet with the Macbook Pro wirelessly too.

Difference between New Archieve and New Patch

I am going through import and export topics of LCA files (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=000276.html ). I understood how we can create new Archieves and import it to another environments. But I am not able to understand about patches.
In both the cases, I am doing the same thing. I am creating archieve of the application. I am sure, there would be difference between "new archive" and "Patch" but not able to figure out.
Can anyone let me know if I create new archieve and Patch, then what is the visual differences i can look in both the archieves??????

patching is related to component of LiveCycle.

LCA files are simply archive file of the processes/application that you create in workbench. These archive files can be import to other environment at later stage.
