How to move oracle 9i from windows to linux

i have 200GB database running on windows 2003 server and oracle 9i release 2 database. but now i want to move to linux with same database release. please guide me what to do?

on windows database you just export your full database with following command.
exp userid=scott/tiger@db_name file=d:\backup\exp01.dmp,d:\backup\exp02.db, ......., d:\backup\exp0n.dmp filesize=1024m full=yes log=d:\backup\export_log.log
you can export your database by sys or system or user who has exp_full_database role
like
grant exp_full_database to scott;
after successfully installation of oracle on linux you create all the users at linux database which are non default users in your windows database.
grant all necessay privileges to these users
grant unlimited tablesapce quota on newly created users at linux database.
after checking all disk space on linux your start import process at linux server. with following command
imp userid=scott/tiger@db_name file=/home/oracle/exp01.dmp,/home/oracle/exp02.db, .......,/home/oracle/exp0n.dmp full=yes ignore=yes
log=/home/oracle/import_log.log
ignore=yes parameter will overwrite those tables and rows which are already present in the new database( linux database).
you can import your database by sys or system or user who has imp_full_database role
like
grant imp_full_database to scott;
after successfully import process you will comile all your indexes constraints, jobs, store procedure because during import process these object become invalid.
you dont worry about linux all oracle command which are run on windows all these commands run on linux.
but oracle installation on linux is different as compare to windows.

yes, I know that I have installed OBIEE and those services related to OBIEE
my main objective is to install OBIEE and for that I got to install oracle database, I did install both database and OBIEE then I didn't find any database to use for OBIEE (silly right :P). yes, that is true and I'm lost
what to do now?
Found easy way is re-installing, I tried uninstalling both and not sure whether database was deleted or not, the same case with OBIEE
what I'm asking you is, "HOW TO ENSURE THAT I HAVE NO ORACLE DATABASE ON MY SYSTEM?"
Don't take me the other-way, I'm very new with Oracle products

How to connect Oracle 10g from OBIEE on Linux?

- OBIEE 10.1.3.4.0 is running on Cent 5 Linux M1 (*64* bit). My Oracle database is running another similar machine M2.
- I installed oracle 64 bit client on M1 but could not connect to run the report, connection issue. Even nqcmd didn't helped.
- I guess it was because OBIEE is *32* bit application and hence need 32 bit client.
- I tried installing Oracle 32 bit Linux client on M1 but installation fails with some dependency (Not sure if we can install 32 bit client on 64 bit machine)
Q1 - Any suggestion at this point?
Q2 - Is there any way we could connect OBIEE to Oracle via ODBC drivers. I could not found any odbc driver/so file when I wan installed 64 bit client. Any suggestion for this?

The computer running XE server does not need a client installed.
If you are trying to connect from another computer, install the XE client and create file C:\XEClient\NETWORK\ADMIN\TNSNAMES.ORA with the following contents (replace ip_address as appropriate):

Move only datafile from windows to linux

Hi all,
I have rdbms 8.1.7 with its datafiles on windows.
I want to keep rdbms on windows platform and move datafiles (dbfiles, controlfiles, redlogs, ecc...) on a linux cluster platform with nfs for communication with windows machine.
Is it possibile?
Is it enough move datafiles and then make ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE 'C:\...' TO '/app/...' or I have to do else?

yes, that is fine but follow the steps;-
SQL> shutdown immediate
at System level or OS Level
SQL> mv /old path/datafile.dbf /newlocations/datafile.dbf
SQL> startup mount
SQL> alter database rename file '/old path/datafile.dbf ' to '/newlocations/datafile.dbf'
SQL> alter database open;
SQL> exit
I had never tested such thing. check whether oracle user had network accesss correctly or not. otherwise you may stuck at while accessig the datafile.

How to move iTunes library from C-drive to D-drive

I'm a Mac guy, but my wife has a PC running XP Home & iTunes 7.1.1.5. At this point, everything works fine. I thought I'd better ask this question BEFORE I did something stupid.
I've noticed that the C-drive has most (not all) of the apps on it and is only partitioned to give 14GB, whereas the D-drive has ten times that much. The system shows me that most of the C-drive space is used (only 15% free space remaining), so I thought it'd be a good idea to move iTunes to the D-drive before she goes crazy ripping her whole CD collection. Seems silly to not use the space!
I've seen enough horror stories about people's mishaps with their iTunes Library to not take this idea lightly.
How do I keep everything on the same computer, but move the app & the Lbrary to the D-drive?? BTW, I have not yet used the "Consolidate Library" feature... is that good or bad?

First of all I still don't know how to post a question. There is nothing in here that asks me to do so. Therefore I can only reply to one already asked. My problem is that I followed the instructions in iTunes which tell me how to move the files from the C Drive to another location (which happens to be my D Drive). After doing that it then tells me to drag the old files into the recycle bin, however, it won't comply and tells me that the procedure can't be performed because of copywrite protections. Where do I go from here? Or at the very least, how do I post a question in this forum the normal way?

You can do this in steps.. First use the built in method for uploading a file into the flows files object, Next you would copy the file out to an Oracle built directory on your UNIX box using utl_file.put_raw..

Moving oracle Datafile from one server A to B (instance not running) (cold backup)
In server a (cold backup of datafile)

one more thing u can also rename ur database by using nid utility ,So u have no need to recreate the controlfile for changing the name of ur database.just restore all files from primary to new server ,create new service by oradim ,start the instance and then use NID utility.

Actually I wanted to know whether there is any command to change the owner ship of the table.
For ex table1 belongs to user1. can the owner of table1 to be changed to owner2.
directly using an oracle command. I knew that it can be done using import and export, since the table was 200 million thought the rename command would be faster instead of import and export.

Running AD Relink
Run AD Relink as follows.
1. Set the environment.
You must set the environment to indicate the location of the configuration
parameters that define your system. This task is common to many AD utilities. See
Setting the Environment in Chapter 1.
2. Relink files.
Run AD Relink with the following command:
UNIX:
S adrelink.sh force=n "ad <executable name>"
Windows:
C:\> sh adrelink.sh force=n "ad <executable name>"

Here is an easy way to move your messages from Phone Memory to Memory Card or from Memory Card to Phone memory In Nokia models.
1- Install latest version of Nokia PC Suite and connect your set.
2- Open Nokia Communication Centre. (Select Phone Memory or Memory Card from which you want to move messages to other memory)
3- Select all messages in a single folder (Inbox/Sent Items or from My Folders) and click on file> export. This will create *.csv file.
4- Download NBU Explorer 1.8 from http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/nokia-nbuexplorer/ (You must have installed Windows Installer 3.1 and Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 to run NBU Explorer. You can easily download these from Microsoft Site,)
5- Open *.csv file in NBU Explorer and click File > Export All. (Your all messages will be exported as *.vmg files.)
6- Disconnect and connect your phone again in Nokia PC Suite.
7- Now set your target memory in your phone for messages.
8- Open Communication Centre and Select your desired folder then click on file > Import messages by selecting multiple messages *.vmg files. (You don’t have to import messages one by one but you can import all messages in a single folder at once)
9- And you have done it.
10- You can import *.csv list in Nokia PC Suite rather *.vmg files, but in this case, all the spaces (blank spaces) in your messages will be lost. All the text of your messages will be merged to a single line. So exporting via NBU Explorer is recommended.

You can use the Transaction SCC1 to move the data from One Client to Another Client for a Client dependent table.
The data should be present in a Transport and you can import to Transport to any client using SCC1.

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

if you use keyword MOVE u may loose the decimal and thoussan separator and if u don't want to loose them just call the FM ..HRCM_STRING_AMOUNT_CONVERT.
i doubt wherther it is HRCM or HCRM just try using *
this will suit ur requirement.
