How to open a excel document using BSP

Hi All,
We have a Macro. I am opening a excel window with the data from a BSP. The macro should be automatically applied to Excel. I am writing JavaScript in a BSP and please find the code below. It opens data in a Excel window but the macro is not getting applied automatically. Any Suggestions?

I'm currently opening an Excel document using the OPEN_DOCUMENT method of the I_OI_DOCUMENT_PROXY interface. A macro is then run to populate specified columns in the spreadsheet and then proceeds with printing the document.
Within Excel, we've set Application.ScreenUpdating = False, which hides the document from the user. When launching the document directly from the local drive (not from SAP), it doesn't get displayed.
However, calling it from SAP seems to bring up Excel, and it shows the processing of the macro as well as the automatic printing and only then will Excel close.
My question is, is there anyway we'd be able to run the Excel macro and print the spreadsheet without Excel ever opening at all?

How to store a Excel document using Webdynpro

Hi Folks,
I need a Web application, where user will have an option of uploading an Excel file. Then the application should store this file in application server in Excel format.
Then I need another web application where, I will display a tabular structure with two date column and third column showing as a link to the file. Also this second application will have an option to save the file on desktop. I need a button to pass the data in this file to another program.
Technical issues:
I know how to read data from an excel by using Upload UI element. But how can I store the file on application server in excel format. And then how can I read the Excel file in such way that, I can show a link of this Excel file in a tabular structure displayed on a Webdynpro application.
Please provide your valuable inputs on this technical issue.

How to Open a Word document using Developer Forms

Hi Buddies,
Can anybody help me out in this regard.
My requirement is like this.
In my developer Forms Screen i have one button named resume.
if i click that button then that particular persons resume has to be opened which is MsWord file(.DOC)located in server(Which is the database server).
So we have to launch the word with the required document using the Forms built-ins. The document path will be stored in my database.
Quick response will be appreciated.

This is a confused and confusing issue. There are no quick fixes. Bear in mind the following points:
Word is a client program. It can only open documents that can be seen from a client PC. If you cannot see your database server's directories from a client PC (and I would hope you can't) you cannot open that document.
what you are left with is creating a copy of that document, transporting it to the client realm, and then overwriting it back on the server after your user has finished with it (if they're editing).
there are many different ways of doing this, but they will probably involve writing an API in VisualBasic or Java. Alternatively you might look at Oracle's IFS.
This is not the right forum for a detailed solution - try the Developer forum (or IFS if that floats your boat).

Error when opening exported Excel document

hi,
i'm using the following to let the user export JSP to Excel file:
response.setContentType("application/download ");
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename=test.xls");
problem happens only for the first when i try to open the file in excel.
Excel gives me " 'test.xls[1]' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. ...."
Subsequent tries work fine with no problem.
i noticed that Excel is trying to open a file with a different name, appending [1], which obviosuly doesn't find in its first try.
i would appreciate any kind of clue.

Excel service and OWA - getting ERROR while trying to open/edit Excel documents

We have configured SharePoint 2013 with Excel Service and OWA (Office Web Apps).
After configuring, we are able to view/edit Word or PowerPoint documents from the browser (as OWA is configured). But we are getting errors while trying to open/edit Excel documents.
We are not able to view/edit the excel workbook from the browser (through OWA).
To open the excel in the browser, decision has to be taken at the farm level on what to be used – Excel Service or OWA Server? Is it possible to do setting at site collection level?

How to open a excel file in WLS 8.1 server.

Dear Sir,
I have created a excel file in WLS 8.1 Application server.
Now I used method as redirectURL(req,resp,Population.xls) to open that file but it failed to open it.
If I give the full path as 'D://USER_OBJETS/APPLICATION/Population.xls'
but it tried to open from client PC not from the server.
so the problem, I managed to create file in server but unable to open it.
Kindly advise how to resolve this problem.

Are you asking in general how to read an Excel file using ActiveX, or are you asking specifically? If you're asking in general, please do a search, as there have been many examples posted on how to use ActiveX to read/write Excel files. There are also numerous links in the Excel thread.

How to Open Two Excel Files in Multiple Monitors in Windows 7

How to open two excel files in two excel windows using multiple monitors in Windows 7.
Currently it opens multiple files on top of each other on the same one monitor.
I found this article in a blog it says
"The snap feature that you are looking for will not work unless you open two instances of Excel. This is because Excel Unlike Word is not a True SDI Application. Microsoft is aware of the Issue however there is no resolution to the problem but the workaround"

If you are working almost the entire day in front of your computer at your office with lots of Excel Sheets and Word, then probably you might be working with a
dual monitor or may be even more than that. Studies have shown that having an additional monitor increases the productivity by 20 to 30 percent (Source: NY Times)
But some applications like MS Office Excel, even though you open multiple files, they are all from the same instance of the application. So if you want to compare two
Excel
files, then you may not be able to have it in two
separate monitors as the files are loaded using the same instance of Excel. If you move one
Excel
file to the other window, the other Excel files are also moved to the other window.
So how to have two separate Excel files or other application side by side in dual monitors?
Option A:
In Excel 2003, go to Tools -> Options ->
General tab.
Make sure the option, ‘Ignore other applications’ is checked. Now all the Excel files will be opened as separate instance and you can move the Excel files individually across the monitors.
In Excel 2007, Click the Office button ->
Excel Options -> Advanced.
Under General, check ‘Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange’.

As this method forces each Excel file as a separate instance, the memory consumption will be more. If you don’t want too many memory consumption then you can open only two instances (see
Option B) and manage wisely to view in both the monitors.
Note: If you are having issues like Excel opens without displaying a workbook, then you may have to
uncheck this option. (See Microsoft Help for more details on this). You can use option B in this case. I have this option checked and I have not faced any issue yet.
Option B:
They key here is, the application has to be loaded as separate instances. Lets say you have opened an Excel file in
Monitor 1 and you want to open the next excel file in Monitor 2. You can usually open another instance of Excel by browsing through the
Start Menu -> Programs -> Microsoft Office ->
Excel. Make sure this newly opened Excel file is the last Excel file you had viewed and then double click on the Excel file that you wanted to open. This will force the Excel to
open
in the second instance of Excel. Now you can move these
two excel files separately across windows or monitors.
This may be little cumbersome way to open new instances of Excel every time. The easy solution would be to keep these links in the
quick links near the Start button. So, every time you want to open a new instance of the application, you can just use those quick links.

"Last modified" attribute changes when opening a Excel-document

We are running Server 2008 R2 as terminal servers and fileserver.
When opening an Excel document stored on the fileserver so changes "date modified" at the opening regardless if you save the document or not. This is a problem for users who want to keep track of when the document has been changed "for real".
Now, "last modified" changes when the document was last read instead, this confuse the users...
If we test the same procedure on our older terminal server environment, Server 2003 or on our clients (Windows 7) it works how we wanted. The "last modified" only changes when you save the document, and not when you are opening it. Office
2007 is installed on both our new terminal server environment (Server 2008 R2) and the old one (Server 2003).
Can someone explain to me why it behaves like this? And if anyone got a solution? It's only occur on Excel-documents and not the others Office documents...

This issue may due to the " automatically save " executed by some office scripts .

It took me a good couple of hours but i figured it out, you need to do the following: Go to the folder where you saved the download (in my case i saved it in My Downloads) -> click on 'Adobe Photoshop Elements 12' -> click on 'PSE 12' -> click on 'Setup' (select the icon which is a box with a shield) -> follow instructions and....voila! You will need to restart when it suggests so save anything else first, then when it reboots you should see the icon on your desktop....hpe this helps!
