How to open a link in an interactive report?

Hi all,
we have an interactive report which displays in one column an url.
If the url is formatted like this 'http://www.test.com', the link can be opened within the interactive report, when it is formatted like 'www.test.com', without the 'http', it can't be openend.
Is there any possibility that links with 'www.test.com' can be opened as well from the interactive report or do we have to mass update this column on database side?

You can modifiy the query of to incorporate http:// to the url name
select a , b , c , decode(substr( url_filed ,1 , 4), 'http', url_filed, 'http://' || url_filed) from table name

Is it possible to have email links in an interactive report?
i.e display something like "[email protected]" as a clickable link that invokes the default external email program with the "To:" field populated?

Another nifty way to do it, while saving precious screen space would be:
'<a href="mailto:' || email || "><img src="/i/pkt_mailto.gif" title="' || email || '"></a>' "E-mail"
email being the name of the column that contains the E-mail address. It will display like a small envelope with an e-mail displayed as you hover over it.

Using a variable db link for an interactive report

I have a requirement where users will select an instance (db link) from an apex LOV and the data in an interactive report will query based on the db link selected.
I can use a db link in an interactive report query but only if I provide the exact name of the link. If I do something link select * from foo@:P12_DBLINK it doesn't work.
It seems my only option is to use something like apex_collection.create_collection_from_query and then I can build my query with dynamic sql and use a variable for the dblink name. Then I just create an IRR based on my collection.
Does that sound like that correct approach and/or am I missing anything?

I guess I have it working ok. I am able to create a region of type 'PL/SQL Dynamic Content' and do something like this and it works. As I change the dblink select list the report refreshes with data from that instance. Pretty cool! I just can't believe it's this much work to do this. This is just one column of data and I have about 10 columns that I need to display:

I've been playing around with this wonderful Edge Commons interactive SVG tutorial
My question is : How to add an external link "url" to an interactive svg using edge commons library ?

I have adapted this tutorial to an interactive map, http://madudesign.com/works/france/ every thing is going fine until I couldn't figure out to link a particular url on each part of the region of the map.
I managed to figure out how to change colors on the different parts of the map on mouse over and mouse out but I'm not quite comfortable with JavaScript since I don't use it every day...
I have tryed to link to an url by passing it on the illustrator layer and via the onclick event (event.target.id) to a simple url

then working in Edge and publishing on the browser the link returns me a weird url line by replacing the original url slashes "//" by "_x2F_" and I must have misunderstood the proper JavaScript line to open that link from there...
for example on my actual exemple "http://madudesign.com/works/france/"
the first top region of France is normally a link to "http://www.google.com" and it returns "http:_x2F__x2F_www.google.com" plus the complete path to the file too...
I don't know how to get around this trick and have back for each region a particular clean link from the event target id of the svg...

I got an answer from the Edge Commons dream team and I am very grateful to them :
"The problem that you bumped into was that you hadn't included a valid URL so far. We weren't sure if you wanted to include them within the SVG file or if you wanted to implement the functionality within Edge Animate. We came up with a solution for the latter one, with a simple switch in the js code:
You have to type in the appropriate URL of course for all the cases."

How to Open External Links in a New Tab

I want links in web pages to open in the current tab so I have browser.link.open_newwindow=1. But how do I make links from extenal applications open in a new tab?

Try setting the following to 3, not really sure if preference was actually removed or just won't accept 2, the intent was that the two variables be the same (I think)
browser.link.open_external -- Where to open links sent to the browser from an external application
* 2 (default in SeaMonkey): Opens external links in a new window
* 3 (default in Firefox): Opens external links in a new tab in the most recent window
* 1 (or anything else): Opens external links in current window
Note: In Firefox 2 and above, via “Tools → Options → Tabs → New pages should be opened in:” (same as browser.link. open_newwindow)

For those of you who Hate having links open in tabs, especially when you have a window open and minimized to your doc. The link will take that

Here's how to avoid that problem and have the links open in a Brand New Window.
Safari/Preferences/Tabs
Uncheck both boxes
Now, the instructions below change to window instructions (not tab instructions)
See the little window to the right of: Opens pages in tabs instead of windows: Click the little arrows and select NEVER!
Now you have to insert a checkmark in the 1st box: (Butterfly) - click opens link in a new tab
The below instructions will revert back to tab instructions, Do Not Worry. All Is Good.
The fact that you have selected NEVER, means that NOW, the links will open in Brand New Windows! Yeah!!!
Close the Preference Window and click away.

Preferences, tabs, open new windows in tabs (I believe this is how it is written.. not in front of my mac).

I don´t understand your problem. You have not tried the component mentioned in my replies, right? You have tried Launch URL component from WD Native. Because if you have, you would ask such a question. This component is a u201Cgroupu201D of a text field and a button. That means, that fits your problem completely IMHO. Place the component on your form layout, Set the presence of the text fox inside this Launch URL and you will see what address is being launch when clicked on the button.
You said you have your address in the text field. So this is the same. Just change the source where the button takes the URL from or copy the value from your form into this one.

I am using the firefox 3.6. My problem is that I am using the web desktop and few web desktop based application directly opens link. If I click on rss link than it opens in same window, so no longer access to web desktop. I want to open any kind of link in new window instead of same window. I have tired to change the value of browser.link.open_newwindow, browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction but doesn't work. the HTMLB link object misses the support for onClientClick through the tag lib, see hbj:link without onClientClick ? and OnClientClick Event for Link HTMLB Component for similiar problems and workarounds.
With this workaround, you can call for example an AbstractPortalComponent, implement doOnNodeReady (with an empty doContent method) and return the PDF, settings the content type on the http before etc.

How to open a link by clicking on a DataGrid row

I have a list of documents that are accessible over the internet. The list is in an XML file which serves as the data source for a DataGrid. What I cannot figure out is how to open the document selected in the DataGrid. I think that I need to change something in the openDocument function (below) but I am not certain what I should change. Any help would be appeciated.

Well, to understand your requirements can I ask this:
You said earlier you want a report sent whenever records that meet a criteria exist, correct? So you want the application to query for a condition, and when that condition occurs (a row with primary Key = X, a select COUNT(1) for rows with column X returns a result of 1 or more)
Then you would schedule a batch job:

job_name => 'Send_Email_Procedure',
job_type => 'PLSQL_BLOCK',
job_action => 'BEGIN Test_For_COND_SEND(); END;',

This would in theory run hourly and run your test_for_cond_Send process, in which you would test for the condition and send an e-mail if it was found that would contain the results from your query/report.
