How to Open CD/DVD Tray Inspiron 15 3537 Windows 8.1

I have a brand new Windows 8.1 laptop and have no idea how to open the optical drive.  There is no button on it to push so I am at a loss.  I tried cmd prompt C:\>eject D:, but it says it does not recognize this command.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Copy the code in notepad:save it as cdTray.vbs
Set oWMP = CreateObject("WMPlayer.OCX.7")
Set colCDROMs = oWMP.cdromCollection
do
if colCDROMs.Count >= 1 then
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count -1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count -1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next
End If
wscript.sleep 5000
loop
Save it as cdTray.vbs
Click it and see the result.
To end it go to task manager and end the process wscript.exe

  • How to open CD/DVD tray if the MacPro won't boot

    Just a few days ago I updated my version Safari on a MacPro. After the upgrade, my computer, I got a message on the reboot that said that it cannot read the disks I inserted. Since then, I can't get the machine to start at all. I'd like to boot it up from a CD/DVD (Drive Genius) but can't figure out how to get the tray to open to let me insert it. (1) Has anyone had such issues with updating Safari? (2) How can I get the tray to open if I can't get the machine to boot up to start with? (I've tried rebooting and holding down the "c" key. I've tried "target disk" mode but that doesn't get me anywhere.) (I think it may have 10.5.8 OSX and two internal drives.)

    Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
    Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this:
    Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject
    If this fails then try this:
    Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • How to open lower cd tray when in windows?

    I have a 2008 mac pro with the original drive in the top tray and a bluray burner in the lower tray. It's connected by sata to a spare sata plug on the mac pro motherboard. I run 10.6.8 and windows 7 in bootcamp on another hard drive.
    Both trays and drives work fine in OSX and open fine with eject and alt+eject. But in windows only the top drive opens and shows up on the drive list in computers, so I can't even open the lower drive by using the eject command on its drive icon under computers.
    Can anyone please advise on how I might get the lower drive door to open when using windows, and why the drive is not even showing up when in windows?
    Thanks for any advice.

    No Powerbook has a G5 processor. Your subject line inquires about a Powerbook (assuming you made a simple typographical error), yet the body of your post says g5.
    If it is a Powerbook G4, which it would say under the screen, then you just need to follow these directions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2179?viewlocale=en_US
    If that doesn't work, and it is a 15" or 17" Powerbook G4, see if the clock battery needs replacing at an authorized service center.
    Otherwise you may have a logicboard issue, or bad RAM.
    Intel MacBooks and Intel MacBook Pros, are labeled under the screen too. If you are talking a desktop, that's known as either a PowerMac G5 or an iMac G5, or Intel Mac Pro, or iMac Intel Core machine. To tell those apart, see this article:
    Mac Pro
    PowerMac G5
    are all iMac Intel Core2Duo.
    iMac Intel CoreDuo and Core2Duo if the EMC# on the base says: 2104, 2105, 2110, 2114, 2118, 2111, 2133, 2134. Otherwise it is a G5.
    All G4s and G5s can use the above Apple article to eject discs.
    All Intel Macs can not, and may need other directions, so getting the identification of your machine precisely is important before we proceed. So please tell us what Mac model you actually have?

  • How do you open the DVD tray on a K430 without using Windows Explorer?

    How do you open the DVD tray on a K430 without using Windows Explorer? I can't find a button on or below the door.  Am I missing something?  Additionally, will the K430 boot from a DVD/CD if it finds one in the DVD tray instead of the hard disk?  Please help. Thanks.

    hi penguin247,
    Regarding your questions:
    1. Can you try to press the eject symbol on the DVD bay and observe if the DVD tray comes out.
    Link to picture
    2. By default, the HDD is set as the first boot device and the ODD second on the K430. You will need to change the boot order or continuously tap F12 during POST to boot from the ODD (assuming you have a bootable media inserted).

  • I can't open the DVD tray

    I can't open the DVD tray. There's nothing inside. I hear a sound (a grrrr) but it won't open.
    I had that 2-3 times in the last 5 years and I always managed to open it by pushing the "DVD ROM drive open button" while I restart but not this time.
    I also tried to put a paper clip in the little hole but that doesn't work either.
    In the Apple help site, they say push the "eject media key" on your keyboard; I didn't know where that is but I know now it's the F12 key; when I push it I hear a sound coming from the tray (like a electric screwdriver) but nothing happens.
    So what can I do ?
    I saw that Andrew Favret had the same problem in October and Don Archibald said:
    • Boot or restart the machine, immediately press the Option key, keep it held down. This will bring up Startup Manager. Once Startup Manager has finished loading, press the key combo Command-. (Command-Periodkey). This should open the tray.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I tried the "Option" key. The Start Up Manager appeared: A display with my 5 drives in the middle, and a Right Arrow icon on the right.
    I did click on the right arrow and it started to load normally as it does when you turn the computer on.
    So I try the whole thing again and now instead of clicking on the right arrow, I tried the command and period key. I hear again, a sound coming from the tray and I see the icon for "eject" on the screen but nothing happens. Tried 5-6 times. And the F12 key don't have any effect at this time.
    If I had a disc in the tray, I'm sure the icons for the DVD drive will appear but the tray is empty.
    Not sure if there's a relation but I just upgraded that same day to a new version of iTunes (from version 7 to 8.0.2) and 3 other upgrades: QuickTime player (from 7.1.3 to 7.5.5) Plus Java and Security something.
    Usually there is a CD/DVD in the tray that won't eject, but you say the tray is empty. Are there any other users of you Mac, especially kids? Someone may have placed something in the tray that is causing the jam.
    Here's the usual fixes.
    First try a Restart while holding down the mouse button.
    If that doesn’t work, look at these links:
  • How to open the disk tray?
    Working with an old G4 tower, and OS9.
    No eject key on the keyboard, and the eject option in the menu at the top is greyed out.
    F12 doesn't work either.
    I can get it open by going via iTunes, but surely there should be a less convoluted way of doing this?
    Hi-
    "Open tray" does exactly that, opens an empty tray.
    "Eject" dismounts a loaded disk, and then opens the tray.
    If you don't have an extended, or Pro keyboard (which has an eject button, which also opens and closes the tray) opening the tray is done manually- push the button on the tray cover. Thats how I did it for years in OS 7 thru 9...
    Pushing f12 should eject a cd/dvd, if there is a disk to be dismounted. If not, nothing happens.
    Holding down the f12 for for a period of time is for OS 10.1.2 and later.
  • Eject/open external DVD tray
    Hi,
    is it possible to eject/open an external DVD tray by short cut or a program?
    I have found a script but I don't know how to use the terminal and further steps (path etc.).
    Please, could you help?
    Thank you.
    Unfortuantely, that didnt work because the drive isnt reconized as an actual cd drive.
    When i have a disk in the drive, it will come up in the finder, where i can eject it when its in use. That command does not work.
    More specifically, is there a way for finder to remeber that a drive is connected so it always appers, not just when its in use?
    I guess i can go from there to find a shortcut.
    thanks Fortuny for your response though
  • OS 10.4, non-Apple keyboard, How to open the CD tray?
    How do you open the CD tray with OS 10.4 and a non-Apple keyboard?
    F12 used to work but this was changed in 10.4 to trigger the stupid Dashboard.
    F12 does not work for me, but I accept that if other people can make it work, then I need to figure out why it doesn't work for me. Glad to know there is a solution on the horizon.
    Regarding adding the CD eject control to the Finder menu; that's a great idea. I should have remembered that was possible. For reference, the location of that menu add-on and others is:
  • How to open empty superdrive tray aside from keyboard button
    I did come across this knowledge base article but all options are good only when there is something in the drive.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2575
    To open an empty tray, is there a way other than pressing eject button on keyboard?
    Thank you very much. It was mentioned as one of the methods in the knowledge base link provided in my previous post but I failed to see what it did. Now that you mention it, I noticed an eject icon on the menu bar and when I click on it, I see the option to open the superdrive.
    One of the reasons I asked is that I am planning on using a non-Apple keyboard (I like to be able to use backlit keys - I'm a half-baked touch typist who work in a darkened room from time to time) but it is not fully compatible with Apple, namely the function keys.
    Thank you once again for the solution.
    Hello,
    If you want to display a table in the popup, create a new view and in that insert TABLE element and do the necessary context mappings. And create a new window and embed the view which is created previously. And place the below code in a method from which you can open the popup.
    lr_popup = lr_window_manager->create_window(
      window_name         = 'WND_POPUP'  "Name of the window created
      TITLE               = 'Please enter all information'
